does the speed of the SD card makes any difference on the universal? and which is better to use SD or MMC?
SD. Speed doesn't make much difference as the read is slow. I have a 2GB Sandisk Ultra II and I am happy.
I'm using sandisk extreme III. It felt faster downloading, copying and installing files then my normal speed Apacer sd card.

Can we use the Sandisk 'Ultra' line? If yes, does anybody know if the faster transfer rate of the Ultra card is supported by the XDA?
try using pocketmecanics it got a benchmark tool
and that seem to show that
the xda2 at least use the pretty slow intel xcale internal sd interface
making the xda1 faster when it comes to sd speed
with mechanics you can compare your result with a list of pda's with different sd cards
non of them ever reach ultra speeds
heck they dont even reach the max speed of normal sd cards
if you compare the speed with the same card in a SD card reader
but that dont mean there is not difference in speed
like Sandisk is the slowest thing ever
I'm using a Panasonic 512MB SD Card and it's supposedly faster (and better) than the SanDisk Ultra.
YMMV
Hi guys!
I've got 2 512M SD memory card:
- Sandisk UltraII 512MB
- Panasonic High speed 512MB
...and I've got 2 device:
- i-mate Jam (QTEK S100)
- Canon PowerShot SD300 camera
Waht's the difference between the 2 SD?
In your opinion the speed are identical?
Is it better to put the Sandisk into Jam or into the camera?
Hi
I read a long discussion about SD card speeds on this site ages ago.. as i understand it, PPC can only read and write at a FRACTION of a slow/normal SD cards read/write speed, so it really makes no difference.. might as well put the biggest, cheapest card you can in it as anything alse is a waste of a memory card...
My own limited experince with a few sd cards i have (bog standard up to sandisk xtreeme III) shows no difference in speed across the cards.
Lovely caemra you have by the way

Well... I understand that in ppc I can put the slower one but...
Sandisk Ultra II vs Pnasonic highspeed?
What is the faster? (I'll put the faster in my camera!)
Has anybody benchmarked and mini SD Cards compatible with the wizard.
I am thinking about waiting for the 1GB 66x mini sd card if it helps speed up the wizard in running programs.
any idea of performance 's of mini sd cards?
is the mini sd card slower or faster then the built in memory?
any recomendations of mini sd card for the wizard ?
I doubt the Wizard would have the hardware to take advantage of high speed cards. High speed cards are typically for devices like highend digicams and video cameras that would utilise the extra speed.
Hi All,
I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if it's just to be expected. I have an S7 edge that I'm attempting to move apps to the SD card and they are just painfully slow, if they transfer at all. I'm using a Samsung Evo 128gb class 10 micro sd card. I've also tried a SanDisk 128gb Ultra class 10 card and it was really really slow. Is there some trick to speed this up? Am I using too beefy of a card? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
move the apps always has been slow even in class 10 sd cards, or at least thats what I remember.... but every other thing is just right

The speed of the external microsd card fully depends on the quality and the specs of the microsd card
itself. That's why some microsd cards are slow or super slow.
I have two 128GB microsd cards, one of them is Sandisk Extreme $80 model and it reads and writes
almost 5 times faster than my other off-brand $28 128GB microsdcard. Both microsd cards are class 10.
I am not talking about speed benchmarks, I am talking about real life transfer speeds under heavy usage..
I also have a 64GB off-brand $17 microsd card which is just as slow as my 128GB $28 off-brand microsd.
All 3 of my microsdcards were purchased at Amazon.com
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I have same problem here I have : https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00V62XBQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And I go 13Mb/S Write and 60 MB/S Read
((((((
same here...
Just got my S7 and transferring speed from PC to external SD is extremely slow (I tried 64GB and 128GB sandisk class 10 which worked great on my last LG-G3...)
I also tried transferring from internal memory to external SD and it was still extremely slow..
Can it be HW problem (I can send it back for refund - but if it SW issue which can be fixed it would be a better)?
Why does it come to me when I insert a sd card "the sd memory card is too slow for your device, can have failures when running applications"? Is a sd card from 32GB to 70MB / S
Thanks!!
What SD card do you have? The SD card you have might be too slow in terms of write speed, since Class 10 SD cards are not all the same (confusingly). I think you'll want to buy a micro SD card that has at least Class 10 UHS Speed Class 3 (UHS-3), particularly if you want to use it as adoptable storage. UHS-3 has a minimum write speed of 30 MB/s and the UHS-3 marking can be seen on the packaging and SD card as a U with a 3 inside. I've seen UHS video SD cards (e.g. v30, v60) around that are potentially faster than UHS-3 but I'm not sure if our Moto G4s can make use of the faster speeds.
https://www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/speed_class/ and https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/choices/speed_class/index.html have a good overview, and as an example of what you could buy, https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDHC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B01HXR511A/
