Upgrading my QTEK 1010 - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Hi,
I have been thinking lately of upgrading my QTEK 1010 to Windows Mobile 2003 but i dont know how. I have looked at the rom pages but do these install windows mobile 2003 and all its software? or do the roms just prepare the device for an upgrade.
Also what problems are there with windows mobile 2003 on the QTEK 1010?
One last question... Does anyone know if the QTEK 1010 has an SDIO slot? i've looked on the internet and some places say yes and some say no.
My device details are as follows just incase you need them:
ROM Version 3.18.04 ENG
ROM date: 05/22/03
Radio Version: 3.25.01
Protocol Version: 32S54
Model: PW10A1
I would really like to upgrade ASAP but not mess it up as this is my primary phone and i'm always using it.
Hope to hear from someone soon.
Thanks

ROMs are complete, so you just have to install them....
Qtek 1010 has just SD slot, but no SDIO.....
Stefan

Thanks for the reply
I'll try installing a rom later but is there anything i should know about like will it mess up the phone feature? will SMS's finally have the contacts name? and will everything still work? Also i've been looking around the forums and i need to do a hard reset so how do i backup my data? does SD Backup backup everything?
Thanks

Ok, it upgraded brilliantly! everything works perfect except one little thing.... I backed everything up before i upgraded and i just came to restore them and it comes up a restore error :S any help on this?
Thanks

activesync backups dont work between rom versions

argh!!! i need help now windows mobile 2003 automatically requests delivery reciepts but o2 charges for these so its costing me 20p per text! any ideas how i can switch this off? its really doing my head in and wasting my credit!
Please help!
Thanks

You´re sure, it is the delivery report you´re getting? Don´t know it exactly, but i think since WM2003 you get an hint that the SMS is delieverd to the netowrk. Tis is a ocal message and do not cost anything. If you got the message that the message has been received by the other mobluser, than you have the delvery reports enabled. it could be switched off permanently by setting
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSDeliveryNotify"=dword:00000000
in the registry....
Stefan

thanks for the reply but i've just tried this method and it doesn't work. its still saying message sent and chanrging me an extra 10p for saying it any other ways it can be disabled?

The message "message sent" doesn´t cost you anything. Ths message is generated localy on your device and it means, that the message as left your outbox and is sent to your provider....
You don´t have to care about it.....

Help for a Newbie!

Hey, I am new here....
I have had mt ATT SX56 for 2 months and am fed up and switching to Tmobile. I'd love to be able to use this phone with the T-Mo service.
From reading these forums I tried to use the XDAUnlock.exe, but that didn't do anything because an error message showed up. So now, I went and purchased a serial cable.
I don't know what to do next. I would optimally like the WM 2003 on the phone after I update it, and I'd like the phone optimized for T-mobile.
If someone would point me in the right direction by giving me some instructions of what to download, where, and what the process is, I would really appreciate it. I know I have to cook my own ROM, etc....but which one? And how?
Thanks!!!!!!
Brad
If XDAunlock.exe didn't work, then the best start point is to flash your ROM with the XDA-developers ROM 3.17 and it will unlock your XDA with the first booting. Next, you can cook any 2003 ROM you like and flash your XDA again.
For the RSU, if the current Radio version didn't get the signal in your area, most propably you will need to upgrade your RSU to TMO 6.24
You can get the ROM from http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php
And you can get the RSU from www.yorch.net "upgrades"
In all cases, you better to do SD backup of the current versions.
Good luck ...
OK-
Finally got the XDA unlocked with the SER. Thank you XDA Developers!!!!! Now I have a useless serial cable. Oh well, I'll take that over my other options..
Is it normal that the SER increased my reception? I now have signal in my house whereas I did not before. Also, I seem to have lost all possibility of connecting to the internet. How do I get this back? What do I do in the connection settings?
In any event, now that I did that, exactly what rom base do I cook if I want PPC Mobile 2003? 4.00.05 PPC 2003, 4.00.10 Tmo, or 4.00.16 Tmo?
Thanks!!!!!!

One last question...I have upgraded to the Regular ppc 2003 rom.
Phone works, internet doesn't. How do I set this up?

upgrading to wm2003

can someone plz tell me how to upgrade my xda1 to wm2003?
i´d like to know if there´s a german version available...
thanks in advance
about a german version i have no clue
about how to update it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6180
For german ROM, I think you can get 4.00.33 from Stefan kitchen
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Good luck ...
Hello,
i am also interested in upgrading my 64Mb XDA I to 2003 Version.
Nalye: How does the Upgrade worked? Do you have any problem in using or installing? Do you have any problems using the upgraded device with german O2? How about the Home-Zone Display and whole stability?
Thanks in advance!
Miwu
a cellphone company depend on the radiostack they dont know if you connect from a nokia phone or a xda with what ever rom
as long as you set it up right
@rudegar
Thanks for answering. German o2 uses a special application with the XDA, called "Home Zone Status", whats implemented in the original ROM provided by O2. With this application you get a special sign at the top of the screen if your device is in an defined area called HomeZone. The data used by this application must be provided by the gsm-part of the device, but i think, that the T-Mobile-Rom does not support the transfer of this informations because german T-Mobile does not provide this feature.
Does anyone experienced any solution for this problem?
homezone
i dn´t know ´bout a special program for displaying the hz-status, but i´m about to call o2 for an application to fix it.
the rom i cooked works well, but as you know every data got lost (about 350 sms or so) :x
try to cook it at www.yorch.net - coz stefan´s kitchen seems to be a lil´bit slow

Want to uninstall WM2003 and go back to O2 original ROM

Hi!
Installed T-Mobile WM2003 from the ROM kitchen.......... Network very weak and the phone has become very slow. Now I want to move back to O2 original ROM (WM2002).
When I try to install the ROM I get an error message :
"ERROR: GetConnectionType - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. error getting connectiontype"
and the 02 ROM installer cannot communicate with my XDA.
Can someone please help me get back the original 02 ROM, with sim unlocked???
Really need some help here. :?:
I loved my phone as it was and I was stupid to experiment with it !!
regards ,
Diki
If you used the kitchen to cook your ROM then it shouldn't have any impact on the RSU part. Plz give more details on your RSU version, your network MHz and what types of problems you have ?
BTW, did you upgrade to 4.01.00 or 4.01.16 ?
To get back to PPC2002, you can use the SD method
if you upgraded to the 4.01.16 I had this problem too.
you can't use the rom.exe method via the cradle if you've put this tmobile rom on your XDA, you have to use the SD flash method.
I upgraded it to 4.01.16
Radio version installed is 4.21.00
PROBLEMS:
a. The XDA has become very slow (I have a lot of free space on the XDA)
b. Network signals are weak.
Going back to 2002
I received from a friend a pre-release version of t-mobile ppc2003 a few months ago. He put it on my phone via a sd flash. T-mobile has just released (for free) on their website a final release of ppc 2003 and the one I am using is somewhat unstable at times. Does anyone happen to have t-mobile ppc2002 so that I can upgrade. Thanks.

a. there is a bug in WM2003 and there is a tiny program that should be placed in the \windows\startup directory to solve it. The program is called Clear_Notify.exe ... simple search and you will find it.
If not, then it's a Radio problem that impacts the ROM part. Few hard resets may solve it.
b. if you mean the indicator on the window tray, forget about it ... the point is the ability of making/receiving calls. If you face real problems, I think it's the 4.21 RSU, but be extreamly careful ... upgrading the RSU is very risky especially with this RSU 4.21 on your device!!!!!!.
Good luck

1. Can you please send me the steps for installing the O2 OS on a SD card?
2. and once it is installed and working, can I just go ahead and delete all the folder (windows program files etc) from the phone memory?
What are the risks involved in writing ROM to SD Card?
I have no idea of this. Can you please help me?
Hi Diki,
Did you get a soution to your problem yet? I elaborate on the same problem.
Thanks for your answer
Norbert
I have the same problem and I still don't know what to do. Please elaborate if you can.

I have the Offical O2 (UK) PPC 2003 (4.01.12 ENG) Rom!!!

I have just got my xda back from being fixed by O2 and they seem to have upgraded my rom.
Before I sent the xda to them the rom was simply the latest ppc2002 rom from their website.
However now everything has changed and my rom version is 4.01.12 ENG
This seems to be an official release form O2 as I have their auto configuration and boot screen.
My bootloader has also been upgraded to V5.22.
I have backed up the rom using XDATools and hope to upload it to the site although its approx 31mb.
This seems to be all official and what everyone has been waiting for however if i've completly missed the point please let me know (politely please )
As an added note I have two broken xda's for sale: -
1) A 64mb XDA with the above rom installed. The screen is smashed, and will need replacing, or you could just use the motherboard in another xda. The unit does not charge for some reason, possibly the fuse which is a simple enough fix.
2) A 32mb XDA with the above rom installed. The screen is intact, however will most of the time it will only display lines, you can get a screen sometimes but this is very rare. It must be possible to fix this, but its way beyond me. Again the motherboard has been tested in my other xda.
Please email me at [email protected] if you would like to make me a serious offer.
Thanks
Martin.
So how do the rest of us get it. Do we have to send our XDA's back to O2?
So did you uploaded the ROM yet? can you provide us a link? thanks

great !
it IS real  thanks Martin
how on earth we only found out right now ?
any insiders ? is it gonna be official or it's an old tryout from O2 ?
It HAS wmodem but I connect through Irda (i have no serial on my notebook).
Can someone try and confirm that it works on Irda on Windows XP
Steps for using wmodem:
1. install ircomm2k from http://www.ircomm2k.de/english
2. add a new modem (manual selection Standard 32600 bps) on the new com installed by ircomm2k
3. add to AT commands AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","apn","",0,0
4. create a new DUN with the number at *99#
5. use if there is any username/password
Mine works fine but I cannot connect. It does communicate and ends on "verifying password" step.
Any help ?
thats great!! thanks very much martin, what about the auto config? does it show any asian provider? such as thailand AIS, DTAC or indonesian indosat, telkomsel, etc? thanks in advance...

Normally this should happen Automaticly, since the CallerID.CAB fiel is int eh startup directory....
But it's a nice trick to get it working...
[edit]
Soory, forgotten to mention, that this ROM is now available in the Kitchen. I also tried to get the Autoconfigration working. Cooking went fine, but i didn't have the possibility to test it.
So fell free and test this ROM with Autoconfiguration......

It should be on the FTP... Be careful though - i damaged my magician with that rom, though i was flashing off of Vista and that was over a year ago... Also, apparently, 1.12 is only for SOME magicians, cant remember which, but don't quote me on that
why not go for 1.13?
Thank you iceblade911.Where can i get 1.13 ,please post the link.

just do it again that iamte jam rom update to 1.12..............got to imate.com and download jam_update1.12
Not to worry mate.
Hi Zabih,
Not to worry. I have not personally tested with Windows Vista so, if you can use Windows XP, it would be great.
There is a special button sequence to bring the I-Mate to a Factory install mode. Then you will be able to flash the ROM again.
I can't find the sequence at the moment, but drop me an e-mail and I will surely come back to you.
