If i want to upgrade my wallaby i get an error message in the communications procedure. I have downloaded my ROM from lumpy's kitchen and ive tried to upgrade it many times right now.
Can anyone give me an advise how i could hardflash the ROM of my device?
I think you get an communication error when trying to flash via ActiveSync.
You have to flash via bootloader....
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby
Here you get furthe rinformation about how to do it....

Nothing yet
Ive tried to Bootload te rom, but after the message "connect your USB now" the device does not react anymore.
I have tried to run the application rom but this says that active sync does not recognize a device.
What should i do next?
Thanks for the quick respond!!
Even if i make a bacup to SD this doesnt work. There no explaination how to hard flash the device! Can you give me an advise???
What have you done exatcly, and where is the problem?
It's not really clear for me.
For Flashing via SD-Card there is no USB connection necessary....
STefan
I have tried to flash with the bootloader. When i push on the on/off putton and do soft reset i see the question "connect to USB now". If i connect and i start the rom nothing happens.
Afterwards i have tried to put the rom on my SD card. I have tried to do this OSimagetools. The pc does recognize the SD card in my wallaby. I also dont have a cardreader.
Is there a way to flash my wallaby in the bootloader-mode with the USB connection?
What do i have to do for it?
Thanks
Strange.
You should see device displays a background that consists of four equally sized vertical bars, colored (from top to bottom) white, red, green and blue. On top of this, it says:
WALLABY
Bootloader
V5.14
WAIT
After a few seconds, the WAIT is replaced by GSM OK. Both messages are in the blue bar, but have a white background.
What do you get?
What is labeld on your rear sticker of the device? (modell) ?
Stefan
Its model: PW10A1
SN: HT220cc15300
PN: 99HJ00007-00
Step 1)I have seen the horizontal bars. And its version 5.18. Ive also seen the "GSM OK"- notification.
Step1a)If i connect it afterwards to my USB nothing happens. The computer does not recognize the Wallaby.
Step2) If i hold the On/Off button i get the message "Connect to USB now" If i do this, activesync does recognize my device and i cannot install the ROM.
Step3) after step 1 i press the contacts button and i see 6 ways to backup my rom or GSM. I have backedup my GSM and ROM to SD. But this has no use for me.
Greetz,
Ok. Now I see.....
First of all, you have an totaly unknown Bootloader (5.18) to me, so i hope all steps will work....
You require a SD-Card with >= 64 MB
XDATools ftp://[email protected]/Wallaby/Tools/XDATools.zip
Your downloaded ROM from my kitchen
step1) Boot your XDA up normal and connect via active sync (guest partnership is ok)
step2) Copy all your data of your sd-Card to your local PC otherwise all data on it will be gone
step3) Enter bootloader of your device by pressing On/Off and doing a softreset
step4) After the Message GSM OK press the Contact Button of your device
step5) Navigate with the pad to "CE+BOOT TO SD"
step6) Confirm this with the Action Key (Press the middle of the Navigate-Pad)
step7) After finishing enter again bootloader by holding On/Off and doing a soft reset
step8) Bootloader should tell you something tah OS is detected on your SD-Card
If No -> Problem
If Yes -> continue
step9) Boot your XDA up normal and connect via active sync (guest partnership is ok)
step10) Install XDATools on your PC
step11) in a dos -box (cmd) go to the directoy where osimagetool is located
step12) enter command: "osimagetool -r xdasdslot -w original.nbf"
step13) enter command: "osimagetool --register"
step14) extract the downloaded ROM using winzip
step15) Run osimagetool
step16) Select the nbf-file in the english-folder of the extracted lROM as source and XDASlot as destination
step17) After finishing enter again bootloader by holding On/Off and doing a soft reset
step18) Bootloader should tell you something tah OS is detected on your SD-Card
step19) Press Action Key to install the ROM
step20) After finishing do a hard reset
step21) Now your ROM should be installed on your device.
step22) Locate the created file original.nbf and compress it using winzip
step23) Upload the compressed file to ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Wallaby/Uploads
step24) Enjoy your new ROM
That should be alll .....

Thanks, But when i extract the rom to a folder, OS Imagetools cannot find the nbf-file. There is no nbf-file in the extracter-rom-folder. I can only find an nb-file.
There is a file called "NK" which says that its an NBF-file(properties). The file is 32MB large. I have tried to select this file (step 16), but the file is not being recognized. Even if i change the extension of the filename. The OSimage does not support this file.
I Have tried this with 3 ROM's : 2003 SE, 2003 and 2002 neither of them contain the nbf-file in the english folder.
Do you have an advice? I think i am very close right now!!
Thanks,
I have sucseeded to install 2002, but 2003 SE wont be recognized. It says its an usupported file.
Has this anyting to do with the fact that i renamed the file? If so can you tell me how to change the file back??
I have downgraded my wallaby to PPC 2002 right now.
Thanks Lumpi!!
WM2003SE couls only be installed via Exe-File. It can not be flashed with the osimagetool.

Hi, I hope someone out there can shed some light onto this problem. This is what I have: Orange SVP M3100; Operator: 14.123.1.614; ROM Ver.: 1.23.61.4; ROM Date: 07/13/06; Radio Ver.: 1.06.00.00; Protocol Ver.: 32.37.7010.01H.
I've downloaded and successfully (I think) flashed Hard-SPL-V7.
Bootloader used to read: HERM100; IPL-1.01; SPL-1.04.
Bootloader now reads: HERM100; IPL-1.04; HERM100; SPL-210.Olipro.
The phone still works and syncs. properly, but when I try running SPV_M3100ROMUpdate_0407, it eventually returns Error 260 (Update utility cannot connect to your PDA Phone.) This happens in Vista Ultimate and in XP Pro.
The program will go as fare as identifying the current image as Ver.: 1.23.61.4 and suggests to replace it with image Ver.: 2.11.61.1 however, when I click on OK, it puts the phone into Bootloader mode, disconnects the USB connection and unable to reconnect again. After this I have to do a soft reset and everything goes back to normal.
I'd very much appreciate any ideas to help me get around this conundrum. Many thanks.
put device into bootloader and try flashing from there, otherwise try sd card
OK, I could not flash from Bootloader either; same error message.
Extracted the SVP_M3100ROMUpdate_0407.exe onto the SD card.
Ended up with the following files: EnterBL.exe; GetDeviceData.exe; README.doc; ROMUpdateUt.exe; RUU.dll; RUUUI.dll; RUU_signed.nbh.
None of the above files will run on the PDA. What do I do next? Sorry for being such a novice and thanks again.

Correct, the files are not run from the device.
The hermes wiki has the directions for flashing from an SD card, go check it out.
Thanks for that jdc. I found the information you have suggested and here is what I did so fare:
-Formatted the SD card.
-Renamed the ROM image file to HERMING.nbh
-Inserted the SD card with the renamed image file into the phone.
-Restarted the phone and confirmed that it was reading from the card.
-Put the phone into Bootloader mode by pressing PWR+OK+Reset.
The multi-colour Bootloader screen comes up and nothing else happens. I'd tried pressing the PWR button just in case, but it had no effect.
Any more ideas? THANKS!
SPV m3100 upgrade - error 260 - connection drops when allowing enterBL.exe to run on
Hi - am going through the same process to upgrade my SPV m3100.
I've followed Mr Vanx's guides to the letter - ROM update from 1.23.61.4 to Hard-SPL-2.1 - as soon as i click 'yes' on the phone to allow enter.BL.exe to run - the connection between phone and laptop immediately drops.
I've tried using different USB ports as suggested in different threads = but to no avail
Am running Vista Home Premium.
I'm a novice so sorry for sounding stupid - any help would be really appreciated.
I had the same error until I disabled the phone lock. Worked ok after that
I had this problem for awhile, and I'm using Vista. I can't remember the problem to explain it, but I did one of 3 things to fix it.
1. Follow Mr Vanx's Vista Guide. The most important part is downloading his attached drivers and getting Vista to detect your phone as an "HTC USB Device" or "HTC USB Sync" or something like that.
2. Then I would recommend installing the official ATT Rom, you can download it off of HTC's website.
3. Install Schaps Advanced Config cab, and disable "security warnings"
After this done, you should be able to install a cooked rom from here.
Hi,
Hp just released an update for the 614, only for englisch.
I have a german 614
I dont care about the OS part since I use a cooked 6.1.
But the update also contains a modem / radio update to version 0.88.
Currently out there i think there are 0.77 and 0.81 depending on language.
I believe the radio fw is language independent when it comes to functionality. But the hpruu says wrong language.
With the current universal hpruu tools you can only update the OS which is of no use.
I know you can update the radio by booting with the key combination:
lower left key on the side (record button) and the camera button.
Then turn on ... it shows : SD loader for modem
(similar on how you update the OS)
I also know that the radio update files are in the update.
They are called
amss.mbn
amsshd.mbn
maybe also partition.nbf
But I am not sure about this.
It might work with just copying the file to a non HC SD card and using the key combination.
There might be some file renaming involved.
I someone out there to try that and let us know how it worked ?!
Thanks
sax
hi, imho theoreticaly you can update
1) .mbn files with qualcomm loader(SD Loader for modem) iam tryied it but no luck , .mbn files from hp 1.01.04 update have bad format not usefull for flashing from sd card :/
2) .nbf files from eboot loader(SD Loader), no luck bad format too :/
other way you can use QPST tools from Qualcomm or QC BS Firmware Analyzer(avaliable on xda forum)
small how-to connect ipaq614c for using with this tools
1) put ipaq to modem mode (push ML and power on)
2) connect ipaq to pc
3) install MotoQdrivers.zip (dont forget to adjust speed for COM ports)
i have included Qualcomm MSM6280 loader for QPST - NPRG6280.ZIP (ipaq 614 have this chip for radio)
sorry for this chaotic text i hope that is usefull
Saxon,
File partition.nbf is for IpaqFileStore update.
Maybe you should try with the following way:
- extract the whole package from HP side
- remove from the obtained directory the OS file (the larger one)
- put your device into SDloader state (voice recorder + mute + power on)
- connect your device into PC via USB
- launch RUU utility
In my opinion there is a big chance it will work.
Such way (using the SDloader) was working for one polish case where the upgrade of firmware failed due to PC crash. The only chance to flash again was to use SDloader + HP tool.
Good luck.

I used the qpst already and it worked that way that i could upgrade but phone didnt boot afterwards. so i am very careful with this tool now.
I am just wondering why your sd loader (the OS image) update didnt work. because i had no probs with it so far. also from the hp orig files.
did you try the qpst update ???
if yes did it work if yes can you send a step by step ?
thx a lot
hi , try my patched ROMUpdate.dll mayby it could help , i dont try QPST because i have succesfully update my 614c with hpruu utility --> http://rapidshare.com/files/139300161/ROMUpdate.dll.html
did you also try the cooked wm6.1 os on it already ? does it work with the new fw0.88 ?
thanks !

29 Jul 2008 release on HP Official Site HP iPAQ 612c WM 6.0en OS 1.01.04 FW 0.88
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the FILE to a directory on your hard drive.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the ROM update files to a directory. (NOTE: This directory should not contain any file or folder from any previous ROM upgrade)
3. Establish an ActiveSync connection between the iPAQ device and the host PC using a USB connection.
4. The ROM Update Utility (hpRUU.exe) starts automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the ROM upgrade.
NOTE: Once the update is complete, the FILE downloaded in Step 1 can be deleted, if desired

Thats correct
But thats for english devices.
I have a german one where it doesnt work, and I am looking for a workaround.
Any suggestions ?
Get Hp Sp38905.exe http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...swLang=18&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=hh-59339-1
Use winrar to unpack it.
You'll find an Eboot.nbf. This Eboot.nbf is language and SKU id independent.
Replace the file header of all .nbf files from hp 1.01.04 update by the header of this Eboot.nbf file.
The header is just the first 3424 bytes of .nbf files.
You do not need to change .mbn files.
Then you can run Hpruu.exe to update. The file names shown during updates are wrong, but results are right.
@kkwy
And what if, like in my case, sp38905 is reporting the same error.
product id: FB136AA#ABB
Just try to find one .nbf file that you can flash.
Then replace header file with the header file of that .nbf file.
The header seems to be useless (solely for checking) so you can replace then at will.
http://rapidshare.com/files/139300161/ROMUpdate.dll.html mayby now working ,try

@ Z!L0G80
Yes, It works.
Thanx
Sucess!!
Now I have os 1.01.04, fw 0.88.
It takes a long time for radio firmware to flash, but, be patient.
Thanx again Z!L0G80
Thanx Z!L0G80's
It works for me to on the Dutch 614.
Strange thing is, that in de system config it stil says Dutch version of the mobile device (but it's UK now).
Very nice again.
ok great .... works ! thanks a lot !
would it also work with the 914 ? anybody tried ?
thx
My PDA already came with 1.01.04, fw 0.88 Rom, however I used the HP rom update utility to see if the rom would update without issues.
The rom update worked fine, however unfortunately something annoying is happening with this rom update. Now every time I try to do a clean boot, the first time the PDA turns on, after marking the screen, it would try to do some HP software update and right after the update I am forced to do a Reset, then I can use the PDA.
Previously I didn't have to do this, when I did a clean boot, the pda worked straight away after marking the screen, and I wouldn't need to reset it.
I think the reason for this maybe because this rom comes with extended rom, is there anyway of taking it back the way it was, or getting rid of the extra applications like the streaming player
This is the Rom I used
Type: BIOS
Version: 1.01.04 (22 Jul 2008)
Operating System(s): Microsoft Windows Mobile 6
File name: sp40097.exe (53 MB)
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...3048-1&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=3544358
Am I the only one experiencing this issue, is there another rom that doesn't do this?
Thanks
anyone tried Sd loader modem with success?
what if the Activesycn not work?
I have tried copy the amss** files on SD, then sd loader modem. And wait so long time, 2 hours, and stay with the screen "write amsshd.mbn". I dont think it is working.
Anyone tried ?
Hi... I'm trying to revive my boss's iPAQ 610.
I readed all the information related to bricked 6xx here and here.
With this info, I can boot the phone loading almost any win mobile, but the sim card never works. When I try the Hpruu last update from HP, the process always freezes at 50% in the radio firmware step (I leave the computer all night trying, changing the configure.ini, but nothing happened).
I discovered that you can delete files from HP update, to install just the parts of the update you like: I made a custom radio update just leaving amss.mbn, amsshd.mbn and PARTITION.NBF, deleting all *.nbf files. It still freezes at 50%.
The DNW.exe software works fine, but I don't know how to make a radio update with this method. ¿Any flash.dio file somewhere?
Then I tryied the SDloader method, but don't know how to load the radio update.
Then i found this post, related to firmware radio update and "Download Qualcomm image mode" and I downloaded QPST 2.7, but I don't know how to make the update this way. I can't find more info related.
I got an USB cable, a 2GB Kingston micro SD card, a card reader and a lot of time
If i can fix the phone my reward is the iPAQ self.
All ideas are welcome.
Greetings from Chile
You say latest from HP. You mean 0.89 firmware?
As i remember, you should first upgrade to 0.88, then to 0.89
Try this one from HP link
My phone's fw is v0.81.
I tryied the v0.88 radio update from the English package, using a custom romupdate.dll to avoid language error, and it freezes at 50%. I tryied the Asia-Pacifico update and the same happened.
Thanx for the idea.
disable firewall and antivirus
I dissabled Nod 32 and Windows Firewall, and is still freezes at 50%.
Also tryied normal and advanced USB mode.
Also tryied the v0.89 update directly.
Did you tried to update in Windows XP, not Vista or 7 ?
Windows XP Sp3
Try this one.
If it dont work, have no ideas what else to suggest.
Maybe keyx know something
i got the same problem as you do, when i update it using the hp update tool its stuck at 42%, winxp sp3. tried everything also from reinstalling active sync etc. etc. but it didnt help, what i did, i used a different computer, for some reason it went thru, I was able to successfully update it to 0.89 hope this helps.

I tried at home and 2 PC at office. Maybe the problem is the "Unattended WINXP SP3" version. I'll try the update on other computers.
Thanx.
I can confirm this thing too. I updated my iPAQ 614 with my laptop using Windows 7 a few months ago. Last month I tried again a few times, but no luck (at 50% it dies). When I tried with my desktop computer that has Windows 7 also, it worked. Maybe it has something to do with the USB power or voltage...
Could it be the 2GB microSD card?
Try using smaller capacity, format as FAT-32
Update Radio using microSD
It's posible to upgrade Radio of an ipaq 614c using the microSD similar to ROM update?
The problem I have is my usb port on my 614c is broken.
I'm stuck with FW 0.77
Thanks

Two days ago, out of the blue, my Acer S200 F1 Neotouch went dead despite soft resets and a full battery. It is using ROM S200_2.003.01_EN_02, running WindowsMobile 6.5 Professional, CE OS 5.2.21857 (Build 21857.5.0.66) 2009. I have never updated the ROM ever since I bought the S200 last month, and have never intended to.
Twice last month, I did a clean boot successfully, but with some difficulty. Sometimes the clean boot would hang from the start, or hang at the Windows logo, or hang when installing any one of the 25 components. But I still succeeded after some struggle.
But two days ago, my S200 went dead for no obvious reason. A soft reset did not help. I can wake it up for Clean Booting, but the Clean Boot would either hang from the start, or at the Windows logo, or go into endless repetition, or hang while installing a component (e.g. 13/25, the Notification Manager). A couple of times I managed to get a basic Windows Mobile system running on the S200, but it is unstable, prone to automatic Clean Boot, and cannot install .cab files.
I did all kinds to assist the Clean Boots, including removing/reinserting the battery, removing the MicroSD card, removing/inserting the SIM card, plugging the phone into/out of external power, pressing two buttons while resetting with the stylus (or pressing three buttons, or all four buttons). Despite getting the “Clean Boot” display at the beginning, the symptoms are not the same with each Clean Boot. I find it strange that every clean boot attempt behaves differently. I thought that a hard reset would be repeatable and predictable, yet it varies with every clean boot attempt.
Finally I tried using the following two updates:
OS_Acer_3.003c.01.EN.02_WM65_A.zip
OS_Acer_2.003.00.EN_WM65_A.zip
But there would be a “connection error” just before the ROM update window. The problem is the same with three desktop computers: Vista SP2, Vista SP1, XP SP3, despite taking all precautions (e.g. updating the .NET framework to the latest service packs). I have also managed to get the Acer HS USB driver going, whatever it is.
MY QUESTION: Can I do a ROM update without connecting to a computer, e.g. by copying some file to the MicroSD card, and pressing some keys? I read somewhere you can press three buttons (volume down, camera, reset) plus the reset button to enter “bootloader” mode. What is this mode? I did manage to get the S200's LED flashing red. Was the S200 expecting a file with a specific name at a specific location on the MicroSD card?
If the S200's ROM is corrupted, can it be restored or updated? I mean, does flashing the ROM require an ActiveSync connection to the desktop PC? And if the ROM is corrupted, how can it fix itself if it lacks the ability to connect to the desktop? (It takes a healthy pda to do an Activesync.) My old ASUS can flash the ROM via the MicroSD card; I don't know if Acer phones have that feature.
The funny thing is that I am not a person who experiments with ROM flash updates and things like that, although I am semi-computer-literature (I program in Delphi to create some freeware). I didn’t intend to add fancy things to the S200; I just want a stable pda for five or six programs (e.g. a Bible program).
The flash ROM restoration/update problem seems to be a problem with Acer than with Microsoft. I think I should have bought an HTC instead. But I could not afford the Windows HTC I wanted.
Any advice? Any URL with the proper information? Thanks in advance. If this problem is solved, I will try to be useful and constructive for the XDA-Developer forums.
Benjamin
Download ARTS's rom and unzip.
Put the S200 to bootloader mode (camera + power at the same time - light will be blinking red) and then connect it to your PC. Run the "ACER_EUU.exe" & flash a new rom...enjoy...
At the begining i also got connection errors becuase i didnt used the original USB cable that came with the device. This could be a problem if you are using another cable that doesn´t have the full pin layout.
P.S. What Bible program are you using?
Thanks Stress Analyst
Dear Stress Analyst,
Thanks for your helpful advice. The problem has been solved. For the benefit of those who run into the same problem, here is what I did (I am summarizing this from memory, so I may miss a few things):
- I downloaded a file called "Arto's Sense rom 2.1 (3.003c, 23554, 2012).rar". The size is 162,841,490 bytes.
- I unzipped the contents of the .rar file into a folder.
- I put the S200 in bootloader mode by pressing and holding the camera and power buttons, while pressing the reset button with the stylus. The LED started flashing red. I connected the S200 to my Windows XP SP3 desktop, and it caused the Acer HS-USB driver to be installed.
- In the aforementioned folder, I ran “Acer_Euu.exe”, and was led through a series of windows. Just click, click, click ...
- When flashed, the Arto ROM was nice and interesting on my pda, but a bit too funky for a middle-age man like me. So I decided to install the Acer update instead.
- I unzipped file “OS_Acer_3.003c.01.EN.02_WM65_A.zip” and ran file EUU_Acer_S200_3.003c.01_EN_02_03.03.08_3.003c.00_20100202.exe
- After flashing the updated Acer ROM, I checked the version number, which was CE OS 5.2.21883 (Build 21883.5.0.783). The earlier version was Build 21857.5.0.66. The new version seems to run faster than the old version. Here is what I think were the problems with the older version 21857.5.0.66:
- The old firmware does not do a Clean Boot very well.
- The old firmwave has problems connecting to the Acer update.
Arto's ROM overcame these two problems, which meant that I can use it as a temporary bridge to the updated Acer ROM.
Thanks for your help, and best wishes,
Benjamin
Bible programs
Dear BrainMaster,
I am using Olive Tree and Laridian Pocket Bible. I like them both, but for different reasons. Olive Tree is faster and has Greek and Hebrew texts. Pocket Bible has better typography and a good collection of commentaries. I find myself using Olive Tree much more often than Laridian Pocket Bible. I am not using mobile e-Sword because it doesn't work on my S200.
