Hey guys,
does anyone have the caller id workin with their bt800? I saw on another forum a member had the hands free profile with his stereo headset. I thought that's all we needed in order to get the name to show instaed of just numbers. Any ideas??? or am I still out of luck
i think on the BT800 only the number appears, and the name is not meant to appear.
It seems phones that have he "hands free" AND the "headset" profile will show the name using the bt800. The problem seems to be with our ppc phones.
I think you need the BT Hands Free profile to get the caller ID rather then just the number. My cheap (repeat 'cheap') Moto v3X has this feature which means I see the name of the caller on my SE HBH-200 (3 year old BT headset!).
Exactly! I neeed the bt hands free profile. I saw on another board (hofo) that a guy had "hands free" and "headset" and stereo when he paid his moto820 stereo headset. I thought since I saw bt hands free wed be ableto have caller id name. Guess not eeerrrr

Hi Guys,
I have an I-mate JasJar and a Sonyericsson hbh-662. Both of them get along better than chandler and joey, except for the caller ID function. When a call comes in, immediately the number of the person calling is displayed but not the name. Even if the person calling is a saved contact, it still shows only the number.
Do you guys have any other workaround?
Other than that, i can voice dial using BT headset without even touching my phone, call clarity is superb and range is very good. Overall, a great headset. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.

I have a JasJar with a HBH 660 and it works the same: caller id number but not the name, nither if is on the SIM card.
I was thinking it would work with 662 which is bluetooth 1.2 complaint.
Are we missing some settings?Guido
I have read in a forum on Exapansys that on a Imate Jam it shows the name if you have MS VOice COmmand 1.5 installed.
Have you try it?
That reminds me, does the HBH-662 have the "noise cancellation" feature? Its known as DSP. does the 662 support it?
UD.
Hmmm, are you sure about that? Can you give me a link to that page? I highly doubt if that is possible, but if you say so, i wouldnt mind looking into it.
UD.
I have both a BT800 and an HBH660, both of which have a disply and both of which only display the number when used with the JasJar.
Both display the contact name when connected to me SE P910i.
I have the same problem with my C550 too. It seems that the MS bluetooth stack doesn't send the caller Id data when in hands free mode.

Let me know if with ms voice command the caller name appear.
I am very interested too.
For some odd reason, i could not get it to install on my JASJAR, activesync issues i suppose.
Can one of you install it on the JASJAR and give us feedback?
UD.
I have VoiceCommand v1.5 installed and neither my BT800 nor my HBH-660 display the caller name.
That sucks!!!
Which headset do you prefer between the both rilot and why?
UD.
I like both of them for differnet reasons. I use the both all the time. The BT800 on my JasJar and the HBH-660 on my C550.
The HBH-660 is small, light and stylish. More comfortable too, but the battery life is poor compared with the BT800. It also seems to drop calls more frequently. If only the JasJar and C550 could send the caller ID data they would be perfect. Not the fault of the headsets though.
All in all, I prefer the BT800 but both headsets are excellent.
Thanks for the info.
I had used the BT800 for a while before but i always had trouble getting it on my ear and pressing the buttons to answer/reject a call also was rather uncomfortable. With the HBH-662, i can do everything with one button and its sits very well on the ear, so i prefer this
Also, the BT800 seems to crackle with the JASJAR, i dont know why. I have personally experienced this, and that too when the device was right next to me. The HBH-662 on the other hand has superb audio quality, very happy over all.
Thanks again for your observations,
UD.
same problem with HBH-200 from SE...

I have an XDA Exec and am using it with a Sony ericsson HBH 662 Bluetooth headset. They work absolutely great together and i can voice dial from my bt headset perfectly using the inbuilt Voice dialing.
However, i was attracted to Microsofts version of this, MS Voice Command, because it will verbally anounce the name (or number) of the caller. This, i thought would be simply perfect to use with the HBH 662, as it would save me from having to take the thing off my ear every time to see whos calling. (still much simpler than opening up the Exec!!)
I have installed the demo version of MS Voice Command and find that the caller id announcement only works on the device itself and NOT the BT headset. This defeats the object of me getting it, so i would really really like to know if anyone has a solution to this at all?
Please someone out there help me as if i could get this to work then im a very happy bunny!
Hi Goonerfish
you need to follow this thread:

best,
mikey mike
Hi Mikey Mike,
Thanks for that. I had seen that thread but was unsure whether that would also allow the caller id announcements to be heard on the headset?
I know that with that thread you are able to voice command from the headset, but it is unclear as to whether the device sends the sound (incoming caller id) to the headset?
Have you tried this and can you confirm that it will work?
Also, i have noticed that the caller id alert is coming out pretty quiet? You had the same problem and do you know a way around that?
Many thanks
Goonerfish
hi goonerfish
no - the incoming caller id doesn't go to the headset - no idea how you do that - sorry.
the caller id alert conflicts with the ringtone so tends to be drowned out a bit - i find it really clear for appointments.

I use my XDA Exec in closed clamshell mode most of the time, and the biggest shortfall of the Universal is the lack of a caller display in that mode without opening it.
I'm looking at a Sony Ericsson HBH-200 BT headset as a possible solution, but if I understand it correctly you then have to take the call via BT which isn't appropriate at work (even with the bud-type earpiece).
Is there a wired headset with caller disply on the market that would fit the Universal, with the option then to take the call on the headset or on the phone? I've googled with little success..
Hi,
I do not understand why is it not appropriate to bluetooth headset at work? I find that it will make you look more professional and you will not be finding yourself tangled up with wires! You can simple place your BT headset in your breast pocket while not in use. And when there is a incoming call, just wear it. You will find that it is much better than a wired headset. I wear my Jabra JX10 the moment I stand out of my house till the time I return home.
Anyway, if you are looking for a BT headset with caller ID, I would recommend you Jabra BT800. It is small, comfortable to wear and has vibrate option! I was using that before I change to JX10.
Anyway, Good luck hunting for the right BT headset for you!
Regards,
Johnnie
Basically, it would not be possible over wires alone, as there are only 4 pins on the headset connector - Ground, Left out, right out and mic in. This gives no headroom for enhanced functionality headsets.
Thanks for the replies - the Sony Ericsson it is, then!
does anyone know if the Jabra BT800 shows the name of the caller or just the number of the caller.
Thanks
It displays just the number, something to do with the version of the bluetooth stack used in the Universal.
Thanks for the reply, so that means I would have to remember everybodies telephone numbers. Maybe the new rom coming for the Jasjar on the 23rd of this month Feb. will have a fix.
So are you saying its only a Universal problem, will you get a caller id name of the caller on any other phone?
The new rom may indeed fix the problem, I hope it does contain the new version of the bluetooth stack as I have this headset.
Any phone that is using the old stack will suffer from the problem unfortunately. I don't know which phones has the new stack (or aren't using the Microsoft stack at all).
Cheers

I know the app that comes with it is only for the iPhone, but on its own, it supposed to announce caller ID in the headset. Does that work on the HD2?
It only reads off the phone number of the incoming call not the name from your phone book. As I understand it the IPhone is the same way.
Dear Friends
I was planning to buy a BT Headset with caller ID functionality.
I started searching for a suitable one for galaxy tab.
But I coulnd't find any reported BT Headset, to be working with GTAB, I mean no one reported that they see callers Contact Info on the display of BT headset as saved in Phonebook of the GTAB.
So I searched for possible reasons and faced with term PBAP (Phone Book Access Protocol).
I saw some of GTAB spec sheets reporting that, GTAB has PBAP support.
So what is could be the reason for this inability?
Is there way to make it work properly?
Is there any BT headset that works with GTAB flawlessly with caller ID display capability?
thanks in advance
My car has BT voice kit, and it works ok with phone book and caller id, so i think yes, gtab supports PBAP.

Yes. So does my Galaxy tab euro firmware 2.3.3 and JVC Bluetooth enabled car hifi and I also get caller ID and names on my Jawbone Era Bluetooth headset.

I have Nokia 7W or something car kit, it doesn't have display so I can't say if it is receivin this info or not.
I really need a BT headset with caller ID working on its display with GTAB.
Jawbone Era is not sold in my country, and it seem really expensive to me, at least at the srotes that I looked.
Any other suggestions will be highly appreciated.

This came up while searching on Google.
However reality is different when shopping around. Seems decent and reasonably priced headsets with caller display are hard to find even here in Hong Kong...
I've found some BT Headsets with caller ID display starting from 23-25USD's.
But I'm looking for a headset which works with Galaxy Tab.
Most of these headsets are just able to show the "number" of caller.
But if possible I'm looking for a BT headset that can show the "name of caller" read from GTABS contacts database.
Any other suggestions?

Hi!
I´m also interested in this matter: I´m expecting a Samsung P6800 7.7 tab, and I plan to use a BT headset with caller ID.
Hi. I've got Jabra Extreme2 and it does have PBAP feature. It don't have display, but says the caller id (voice synth). It works fine with GT (P1000).
