Wifi G mode question? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

If I use the Wifi G mode tweak can I still connect to B mode?

Bump

I'm not sure the JasJar supports a true "g" mode. But yes if you use "g" mode you should also still be able to connect in 'B" mode.

I think this is only to enable connecting to wireles access points that don't support the B mode .. but don't even think you will get this dreamy 54 MB/s

I did a little testing and as I stated, the Universal does not support a "G" mode. You can add the registry changes and if the Access point is in "B" & "G" mode or "B" only you will connect. If it is in "G" only mode the Universal will see the access point but will not be able to connect. Hope that helps.

It is possible to connect with my exec to G mode only network?
Maybe some new registry hack or something... Is very importand too me...

Need a "disconnect" hack

Hi folks,
I've searched, but can't find anything:
I'm sure I once saw a hack that places a "disconnect" link on the connection dialog (the one that pops up when you click your connected icon, and that shows you are on 3G or wireless lan). Can anyone point me in the right direciton please?
I think this is what you're looking for....
That's it! Works perfectly - gives me a "Disconnect" button
Thanks a stack.
Just so other understand why this is useful:
"Awlays on GPRS" hack is awesome for those of us in countries with cheap 3G. However, when u want to use ur PPC as a 3G modem, it's tricky to get it to drop the UMTS connection so that wireless modem can start up. This button allows u to disconnect, start wireless modem, and then plug into ur USB port to modem away. Too kewl!
Another way to disconnet GPRS or 3G connection is to press the hang off key for 3-5 seconds.
You don't need any software to do this.

Can't connect on wifi router in G mode only

I have downloaded the cab file posted on this site to update the registry settings enabling the g mode of my Qtek 9100 and the transfer speed increased (Excellent work for all the contributors).
However, it will only connect to my home router (D-Link d-784 a/b/g router) on mixed "b/g" mode. Whenever I try to switch it to "g" only mode, I can see the router but for some reason my Qtek 9100 cannot get an IP adress.
I have yet to try to set a fix ip for it (it would really be a pain, as it would mean that I would have to modify the settings everytime I want to connect to another router using DHCP).
Can anybody offer help or advise?
Check that the relevant reg keys are in place with totalcommander or resco:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms]
"dot11SupportedRateMask"=dword:00000001
"dot11SupportedRateMaskG"=dword:00000008
Then soft reset.
Gl.
These work fine for my 3 x G only wlans with all encryption types on radio roms 01.12.10 & 01.13.10 - not tried with other radio roms.
This is already done (used the cab file lying in this forum and check registry manualy).
Is it possible that it is on the router side?
Entirely possible. This forum is riddled with posts of such, you may have to read through a few see if they help.
Mine works on a USR 19106, Billion 7402G and a Netgear DG834G on all modes, all encryptions.
Try changing some of the options in your router for the WLAN if you know what you're doing. Things like xpress modes and other such stuff can affect connections (well, apart from my USR, which still works fine with them all on \o/). Basic rates auto/default also, use something like netstumbler (PC) or WiFiFoFum (PPC) to scan for competing networks and adjust your channel accordingly.
All the usuals.
What Roms (Main and Radio) are you running?
Do I have to add this key--> "dot11SupportedRateMaskG"=dword:00000008 because I don't have it ? If I add that one, save settings and I make soft reset, the key disappear automatically....
I do have that key.
I will try today with another router to see if it works on "g" only mode.
Just what I tought. I used a SMC Barricade router and made the setting to "G" only and voila, success.
I guess that something in my DI-784 from dlink prevents its from connecting correctly.

Any quick way to enable/disable GPRS/3G connection?

Yes, I mean enable/disable, instead of connect/disconnect.
Right now, when I don't want to use my GPRS, I have to get into Settings->Connections->Connections->Advanced->Select Network...etc, and change GPRS to something else (say, My Work Network) in the first dropdown list box.
Is there a quick way for me to set the PPC to do "Now you can use GPRS, if you need to." Or "Don't you even think about connecting to GPRS even if you need to"?
If you tap the antenna symbol next to the 3G marker you will have the option of enabling filght mode, which turns off all radio functions.
But I don't want to turn off all radios....
I have the same problem..... I downloaded some websites for offline browsing, but they have some weird scripts which cause my Universal to connect, even though I don't want that...

3G Data connection Issue

Hi there,
Sometimes, when I try to update weather data / anything else throught data connection (3G), my device say that I'm connected to 3G network but nothing seems get through the connection.
I've to restart all the phone part (switch to plane mode and go back to phone mode) to be able to get connected.
Is anyone encounter this issue too ?? Any idea ?
PS : GPRS Monitor say that I'm connected too, but the download/upload indicator stay to 0 kB.

Wifi connects... sometimes only???

Hi all.
My qtek is not ok...
I used to have WM2003 2nd Edition. Very hard to set up my Wi-Fi connection... After some time, and all the possible configurations, I managed to access the internet using it...
On the next day or so... nothing...
Well, good reason to upgrade to WM6. Just finished, upgrade ok, I think.
Wi-Fi not much... Once again, my SSID cannout be found - just my neiboughors´s... Add it manually, after some tries with the "work" and "Internet" options, it worked...
I made a soft reset, and now cannot connect anymore... SSID appears as unavailable, and is impossible to connect to it... My laptop is working fine with the same router, same ssid, same everything
Tried to delete the connection and create new one several times, nops...
Is it normal that the network cards work sometimes, and then without any changes, stops working?
Thanks for your help
Definetely no. Try to adjust the router to broadcast in 802.11b only but I think that will not help, something is wrong with the network card I think...But you should try
BTW turning on the wifi on WM6/WM 6.1 is kind of strange, you have to enter in the comm manager, then settigns->wifi->turn on wifi, and finally to turn it on the comm manager. How did you turned it on?
yes mate, I also believe the problem is with the network card.
Is there any way I can test it?
Is there a way I can substitute it?
Or my best shot is buy one SD network card (that will use the only SD available...)
Have you tried to connect to other networks aside from yours? The reason I am asking is because you can see your neighbor's network, so it is weird that it would see yours randomly. Try with different networks before spending the money in a SD wifi card. Good luck.
Understood... kind of
hi guys
I tried the Simeonfilipov suggestion of adjusting the router to broadcast in 802.11b only and Wifi connects in no time...
Now I have slow wireless connection, but all devices can use it
Does anybody around have a D-Link DSL G624T router working fine with a Blue Angel integrated network card??
Can you publish or email me the specs to let me check mine?
Thank you all guys.
So the problem is not in the network card You have to have an option in the router menu to broadcast mixed signal - B an G, to use G on your laptop for example for faster connection, and B for the Blue Angel ? Good luck!
