Hello,
I'm having a I-mate jam with an 265mb wifi card but i'm not always connectect to wireless networks.
If i'm not connected and i do click on the IE icon it's itrying to use the gprs settings whom are not installed becaus i don't want to use gprs.
Is it possible that the I-mate doesn't use gprs ore the dialup modem?
Hi,
I have the IMATE JAM with huge GPRS pack. (300MB/m)..
wanna ask if I can use SKYPE through GPRS connection? IS there any way to configure that?
Hello,
Gprs transfert rate is too low for Skype work properly !
But it works fine in wifi mode ! :?
skype uses about 2-5k/s I have no idea how fast gprs is, but I'd have thought its quicker than that. You can always call skype to test it.

From the SKYPE website knowledge base:
Do I need WiFi? Does Skype for Pocket PC work on GPRS?
Skype for Pocket PC is designed to be used with a WiFi connection. If you are using Skype for Pocket PC with GPRS, you can use instant messaging but the bandwidth does not support calling functionality.
I've recently migrated from a Magician (O2 mini WM2000SE) to a
Prophet (i-mate JAMin WM5). On the Magician, I could manually start/stop a GPRS session by tapping on the "G" icon and selecting connect/disconnect. The Prophet/WM5 does not seem to work this way, I guess because the device also has WiFi.
I cannot find any way of manually starting a GPRS session. Can anyone elighten me?
Is there a way I can disable the GPRS on my HTC TyTN? I would like to use the WiFi I have at home sometimes and it just automatically use the 3G, GPRS setting...especially with Internet Explorer which is on the phone.
Any help is appreciated...thanks!
I'm having this problem too. Whenever Wifi and GPRS are both active, it always defaults to GPRS. I cannot get it to recognise the Wifi connection under any circumstances.
I have an Orange SPV M3100 (HTC Hermes) with Windows Mobile 6.
sorry for my english first. if you use the automatic set up connection GPRS for your operator ; the wifi doesn't work.
You must do a hard reset and configure the GPRS connection manual.
Then the wifi works.
I've done this. I had to input my operators settings when I upgraded to Windows Mobile 6. It still doesn't work.
Like in symbian, that can browse what connection is available to connect for mail?
I have qtek 9090 (HTC III) and Nokia E70. On Nokia I can set up priorities for connection (WI-FI, GSM etc.) and phone is checking for new mail on availability of connection.
If is there such software I ‘m very grateful if you can tell me where can I get it.
