Is it possible to send pictures, video and sounds via bluetooth? I can receive them ok, but can only find an option to send by Infra-red.
Yes, indeed you can. Tap and hold your stylus on the file you want to send ("beam"). Choose beam out of the menu that appears. You will get a screen saying Infra-Red, and underneath that, it will say "searching". Any bluetooth enabled devices that are discoverable and in range will begin to appear here. If the device you wish to send the file to doesn't appear in the list after 1 minute, check that bluetooth is enabled on both yours and your recipients devices, and that you are both set to discoverable.
Nice 1 thanks

Click to collapse
choose Beam, and the device willl automatically search for all devices in range, IR and BT... but you have to turn BT on first...
and to send a group of files via BT, use Resco File Explorer 5.15 ( or higher if available )
cheers  [/b]
thanks guys, duke911 where can i download resco file explorer 5.15?
guys, i have another question, when i received an SMS, the phone will be auto switch on, is there any setting to disable it. I just need a sound notification and orange light blinking informing me of the sms. I do not want the phone to be auto switch on where i can see the today screen
to disable the screen from turning on go to start>settings>sounds & notifications>then notifications on the bottom right, then you have a drop down box, select messaging: new text message and there you are. you have the option to display the message, flash light and vibrate. select what you want to your liking.
here u go
31-day trial
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/
Total Commander for PPC (link below) - free and allows beam (IR/BT etc) from Total COmmander interface (which is like file explorer)

Is there a way of sending pictures, videos, etc through bluetooth or IR with my Mini?
Yes, tap and hold on the file you need to send and select the option Beam File. Make sure that BT is switched on before you start.
and if you have problems recieving them, make sure that the recieve all incoming beams option ticked, otherwise you cant recieve anything via ir or bluetooth.
I used to get a popup when a new wifi connection show up but I press never to show again button by mistake. How can I turn on that feature again.
Try going to:
Settings -> Personal tab -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications tab -> Event: Wireless network detected
Check the 'Display message on screen' box
Its not that it was already check...
untick it, close, retick it close, reset.
It didn't work
attached is my registry for this notify. I have the notify set to rooster...! just made it easier to find. change it to a txt file to change the value, or just import it as is, then change the sound.
I have pressed don't show again, but it comes back!
I think you guys have misunderstood me. Its not the sound I'm talking about its the pop up that shows which wifi connections to connect to. I press don't show again by mistake and I can't find a way to turn that feature on.
the notify isn't just the rooster but also the pop up notification. its the same registry I think.
Damn didn't work for me.
Don't ask why how or the underlying logic... but I changed the sound it makes to notify of the detection, and it suddenly notified me of the new network detected.
don't think I had changed anything else.
iam not able to receive the incomming bluetooth beams, tried it with several phones, whenever some one tries to send any file it gives an error msg on the phone which is sending the file. plz help

Download 'Enable BT OBEX ', transfer it to your pda, install it, soft reset and -voila!
D.
Navigate to Start / Settings / Connections (tab) / Beam and ensure that the check box "receive all incoming beams" is checked.
I know this is something very basic but just thought you are missing on it.

Dear friends,
I've got the X2 for 1 month, and updated to MR2 as soon as i got the phone. Been happy with the quicker response, and rarely freeze. But after upgrade i found flaws that make me dissapointed :
1. In the middle of conversation, usually i have shortcut to Notes, so i can make notes while talking. Now the button is gone, replaced by much less useful dialpad. More strange, now there are 2 identical "end call" button : one is big , in the center of panel, one is small at the bottom of the screen. This is ridiculous. The only way i can get to Notes is to press Windows logo, go to main menu, scroll to Notes and press the icon. Thats way too long.
2. In the contact menu, i can only register 1 mobile number, 2 work numbers and 2 home numbers. So if the contact has 2 mobile number, only 1 can be assigned as Mobile Number, the other must go to Work or Home. The problem : if we open the contact, the only option to send SMS is to Mobile Number, not from work or home, despite it is really a cellular number. Apparently the software think the Work and Home number as a landline number. This is stupid. The only way to send SMS to work/home number is go to message menu, and press "add recipient", and so on. Why can't they make it from contact menu??
3. If i got a calling from unknown number (not from a Contact), usually i want to save the new number as a new contact or add to exsting contact. But i cannot do the second thing. I go to call history, choose the number, press the menu key, and all i get is "add to contacts", and it only allow me to save the number as new contact, but cannot add to existing contact. very annoying! i have to write it down in the paper, just like old days
I don't know if the above flaws happen because of the upgrade, or this is the new Windows 6.5.3 habit?? My old Ipaq 912 with Windows 6.1 can do all the above mentioned.
I feel very dissapointed...hope you guys can give me feedback?
Thanks for reading
1. Notes when calling is not in the menu anymore, I'm not sure if it's every WM 6.5.3 device. You have to go through main menu.
2. Adding contact works great when you enable the prompt asking you to add the number to your contacts after finishing conversation. In this case you're able to also add it to existing one.
3. Every WM, also 6.1 supports only 1 mobile number.
However when you create sms from your messaging, you can send the sms to ANY number you want.
Thanks - and tips for LED problem
Thanks, appreciate your input. I have enabled the option to add number after conversation.
I personally think the Notes in calling mode, very useful. I have seen it in every new WM phones, including HTC and Samsung. Its pity they removed it on X2.
One more thing, about LED notification problem (which dont work when the phone enter standby mode /black screen), and the phone will not wake up when received SMS. I have simple solution, but there are sacrifices to made. here's how :
1. Disable the Auto Lock
2. In the backlight & power management menu, in the field "turn off backlight after....", fill 30 seconds or 1 minute, to save battery
in the field "turn off screen if not used for..." choose "never"
3. Dont' forget to set the illumination for SMS/MMS received as "no limit"; in the "sound and notification" menu.
4. (optional) Enable auto adjust backlight in the backlight & power management
Basically, we prebvent the phone to enter standy mode at all. This will reduce the battery life about 20%, but you will never miss a sms. Any sms will wake up the phone, the SMS sound will ring, the LED will light until you read the SMS.
Also, because the standby mode is connected to auto-lock, you cannot auto-lock the phone, that means you have to lock it manually everytime you finish use the phone. You can lock quicky by using SPB Shell, and create Lock shortcut in the front panel. Or in any mode, press "windows" logo on the left bottom, then you can see the lock button on the bottom screen.
Cheers!
Personally I've never had a problem with smses.
My previous OS never showed anything besides the icon and sound alert for sms. I never liked my sms appearing on the homescreen.
Current behaviour is that it plays a sound and doesn't wake the device up. So it doesn't activate in the pocket.
You just wake the device and see the sms icon anyway so missing sms is not such a case.
If you set the sms sound as a quite short file, it will always play a sound.
At least it does in my case.
