I used to get a popup when a new wifi connection show up but I press never to show again button by mistake. How can I turn on that feature again.
Try going to:
Settings -> Personal tab -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications tab -> Event: Wireless network detected
Check the 'Display message on screen' box
Its not that it was already check...
untick it, close, retick it close, reset.
It didn't work
attached is my registry for this notify. I have the notify set to rooster...! just made it easier to find. change it to a txt file to change the value, or just import it as is, then change the sound.
I have pressed don't show again, but it comes back!
I think you guys have misunderstood me. Its not the sound I'm talking about its the pop up that shows which wifi connections to connect to. I press don't show again by mistake and I can't find a way to turn that feature on.
the notify isn't just the rooster but also the pop up notification. its the same registry I think.
Damn didn't work for me.
Don't ask why how or the underlying logic... but I changed the sound it makes to notify of the detection, and it suddenly notified me of the new network detected.
don't think I had changed anything else.

Old topic, but here ya go anyhow...
Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications Tab > Pull down menu and choose "Connection Established" > Uncheck "Display message on screen" > Press "Ok"
This gets rid of all GPRS connection status popups! (It worked perfect for me and others atleast)
Hello,

as wrote in my post, I've already done that... but that means only to not show the message directy, when it arives. I've already unlick that checkbox, but there is still an notification on the screen when i get a mail, which says "you have x unread messages"... from there you can "dismiss" or "show"...
Wow, i had that question in my mind, answer came before the question. Thanks rudegar.

Call your service provider (AT&T, etc.) and tell them about the notification problem. Provide info...they can fix for you from their end. I had the notification problem when after listening to voicemail, the word and icon remained on my device.

I don't think, that my provider can help, because I use Direct Push, which communicates directly with our own Exchange-Server... my provider provides only the possibility to connect to the internet. It must be a hidden setting in WM-registry or something like that

OK, sorry 'bout that. I have direct push mail available, but don't use it because of what you're experiencing right now. I just go on the internet to check and read my mail. I'm not all that familiar with direct push; don't really know how it works.
For those still looking for the answer for this; the only way to turn this off when using Push mail is by setting the following registry value:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
set value "Options" to 20000000 (hexadecimal) or 536870912 (decimal)
Note that this disables email notifications completely, so if you want just a sound or a vibe, you'll have to use some other tool (e.g. MortScript) to achieve that.
i found this on another site.It may help you..
1. Install a registry editor like Resco File Explorer’s add-on registry editor or PHM registry editor.
2. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER
3. Tap control panel>notifications
4. Tap default
5. Tap options
6. Choose what value will be applicable to you and replace the default number with it (for XDA Atom, the number was 13, I replaced it with 8 to suit my preference):
0 show icon
1 show icon and play notification sound
2 show icon and vibration
3 show icon and vibration and play notification sound
4 same as 0
5 same as 1
6 same as 3
7 same as 3
8 show icon and notification bubble
9 show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble
10 show icon and notification bubble and vibration
7. If you want to configure how long the notification bubble will stay on the screen, tap on duration instead of options. Change the number there into the number of seconds you want the notification bubble to stay up.
I've created a CAB that does the following changes, however SMS notification is still working (which is ok for me).
Code:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
set value "Options" to 20000000 (hexadecimal) or 536870912 (decimal)
OK, guys, I managed to switch off the annoying visual notifications for missed calls and SMS by setting the 536870912 value for "Options". But there's a problem - I cannot get any sound notification for new SMS Is there anyway to get sound/vibration with all other visual notifications turned off? Please tell me "yes"
Has anyone found a solution in the meantime? I'm still searching for a way to disable the "visual notification" without loosing the new-email-sound.
JR...AWESOME JOB ! Thank you so so so so much for sharing this cab file....I am so happy I didn't have to go into the registry to make the change !!!!
So I kinda had the same question. I'm using s2u2 but I don't like the notification popping up when its activated. The whole screen turns black except for the notification bubble, which kinda defeats the purpose of using s2u2. I have disabled all but the downloaded mms notification cuz is greyed out on my device? Is this normal on everyones device? I don't wanna lose sounds, I just want the bubble gone
Would be great to have this, especially with S2U2 and PocketCM.. Is there still no way?
How do you get rid of that annoying "Connecting.." bubble that appears whenever the Internet connection has been activated? Thanks.
simple:
start -> settings -> sounds & notifications -> notifications -> connection established and there remove the tag "display message on screen".
cheers, lutz
Thank you!
Is there also a way to get rid of the Connection Error Bubble?
if a app want ne-access and u dont have a signal, this message pops up all time until u end the app, or get signal again.
@thyraz,
if you find out, let me know....
Here is solution how to get rid of connecting bubble which appears during turning on Dual Touch after hard resetting or turning on the phone generally!
What you need is to turn off Auto Connecting, but you have to do manual using some registry edit software:
Change DWORD Value from "1" to "0" in:
HKCU\Software\HTC\ConnectionSetup\EnableAUTODetect
Hello everybody,
I recently flashed my Qtek 8310 (Tornado) to WM6.1 Standard.
Whenever I loose wifi connection it gives an annoying audio notification.
I've disabled exclamations, questions and warnings in sound setup but the beep is still there.
Anyone know how to disable it?
Thanks
Ms Vibe
It may be dependant on the ROM you are running, but I have the option in the "Sounds and Notifications" control panel in the "Notifications" section. Find it in the pull down menu: "Wireless Network Detected"
I used this:
"Update June 18 2008 - New WM6.1 Standard ROM from XDA-Developers, made by illi & rickywatt
Download link - http://karhoe.net/myfiles/illi_WM6.1_remade_by_rickwyatt_v2a.zip"
I then installed the connection manager HTC Connan IR+WIFI+VOIP from the Extras.zip Nitros posted.
In Settings -> Sounds I don't have anything about wifi. I don't have a "Sounds and Notifications" menu either.
In Settings -> Connections -> WLAN Settings -> Wifi Networks -> Menu -> Advanced I switched off "Available Network Notification" but that seems to be only about visual notification.
Maybe there is a reg. hack for this?
Which ROM version are you on yourself?
/Ms Vibe
Sorry, I'm using a PPC (T-Mo Wing). I'll look through the registry, perhaps I can find something else. You might try posting in the groups for your phone.
So you're trying to disable an audible notification? <-------- Nevermind... I forgot you already said that.
I wonder if perhaps you have that control panel, but no link to it... might be worth looking into, because if it is indeed present you could still launch it via a shortcut.
Yep, that's right. Thanks for your time.
I have to get some sleep now, but I will dig further tomorrow.

I have this same problem with the recent version of RickyWatt's ROM (not sure if it's specific to his). If I turn on Wifi and let the phone rest for even 30 seconds, it gives a loud beep as if Wifi has gone to sleep (it reconnects when I interact with the phone).
I can't seem to find any corresponding notification for that. I'm considering turning off all notifications because of it.
The notification checkbox switch in "Menu-Advanced" in WiFi settings won't work (I tested different systems). The menu option "Don't show this message again" that is available upon notification's delivery won't work either.
I guess this is the 931,528,149,367,652th bug in WM6.
The only solution is to let the notification to be processed, and set a quiet notification action to be associated with it:
1) Open Menu>Settings>Personal>Sounds&Notifications>Notifications
2) In the events' selector, choose "Wireless LAN detected"
3) Make sure that both the "Show message on screen" and "Switch screen on" options are unselected, BUT SELECT AT LEAST ONE OTHER NOTIFICATION ACTION: IF YOU LEAVE ALL OPTIONS BLANK, THE DEFAULT NOTIFICATION WILL STILL BE PERFORMED. I recommend setting the vibration as the only action.
4) Close options' mask
With these settings, your machine will still vibrate when a WiFI-LAN is detected, but at least it will stay quiet and no annoying messages will pile up in the pipeline of notifications.
At the same time, the networks for which you may have set up an automatic connection will simply hook up as soon as they get detected.

I used to be able to see who SMS Texts were actually from on the lock screen with my S6. Now that I have the S8, it only shows that I have an SMS message and it won't show me who it's from unless I actually go into the Messages App? How do I make the sender visible on the lock screen?

Go to settings -> Lock screen and security -> Notifications -> make sure it's on , then go into that menu and make sure you do not have Hide content or notification icons only turned on - also make sure the toggle for all apps is turned on too
Also you have to be using the crappy stock Samsung Messages app, otherwise you won't get that little bubble notification or the edge screen light up. Was very annoyed to see both of those things disabled from working if you use Android Messages or any other app.

I went to Settings > Lock screen and security > Notifications (which is turned on) and then into that menu. In that menu I have the "Hide Content" toggle turned off - the "Notification icons only - Hide notification details and show only the icon" toggle turned off. The toggle for "All Apps" is On. But when I get a SMS message, it only shows "Messages" on the lock screen... not who it's actually from like it used to do with my Galaxy S6. What am I doing wrong?

Ever figure this out? I can't. I have done all of the above and gone into the message app and allowed for content to be displayed and gone into the always on display and allowed for content to be displayed. I am using the native message app. I still just get a message icon on my lock screen. No content. Super frustrating!

I has the same issue. I had googled a million times. Finally had a bright idea.... Go to setting > about phone > down at the bottom should say reset > reset all settings.
This doesn't erase your phone, only sets it back to default stiff like background, notifications, ringtones etc. BUT it finally shows the messages!
Any other suggestions on this? I've tried everything in this thread, including resetting my settings to default. Driving me nuts. After being on the pixel for the past 7 months until now, I've gotten very used to being able to see previews on the lock screen and replying from the lock screen too. I have all the appropriate settings checked that should be allowing me to see previews, but it doesn't. All I want is for the screen to briefly wake up when a text comes through, and to be able to preview it. Is this supposed to be possible on the S8?

SAME ISSUES HERE -- samsung s8/t-mobile
it seems as though the "show content" option for notifications has disappeared on the Samsung S8... I've tried everything i can think of and searched several boards and come up unsuccessful... the only options for notifications on a lock screen (at least for me - Samsung S8 on t-mobile) are: :hide content" or "do not show notifications".. both of which are not helpful when attempting to view the sender's name while hiding their actual text... HELP!
It works on textra under settings then customise notifications then at the bottom u will see privacy settings in there u can have it to show contact but hide message. Hope that's what you wanted. Cheers.

The only way I found to get to the lock screen and view/reply to text message is to double tap the home button first.
It's anoying additional step, but I'm trying to get used to it.

I am not sure if you have found a fix for this or not but.... Last week I accidentally factory reset my phone and lost everything. I still had my old phone and was able to transfer all that was there back over, but my screen stopped lighting up with new notifications. After spending the last hour trying to fix it I was successful!
Settings > Apps> Messages > gear icon above Force Stop > About Messages > update
I really hope this helps others.
