MDA Pro - new ROM install and TomTom - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I'm currently running iMate's last ROM, and TomTom from my SD card.
Obviously flashing to the latest TMUK ROM is going to wipe my device, and I'll need to re-pair my BT receiver AND reinstal TomTom (won't I?)
Do I have to go through all the rigmorole of creating the GPS section in the Settings / Registry, pairing, starting, stopping, setting everything - or does the latest incarnation of TomTom simply install on this ROM without the need for all of that rubbish?

XDA2.....please help.....WM2005 or WM2003SE?????

I have a problem which I just can not seem to get round...
1. I have an XDA2 running WM2003SE and runs A1
2. I do not use it as a phone anymore only TomTom 5 navigator
3. It lives in the car and is used only when I need TomTom and goes flat
4. The XDA2 reloads and my software is gone
5. WM2005 will not allow me to load TomTom 5 its just crashes on install and comes back with an error of something along the lines of unknow system (Operating System I suppose - WM2005)
So basically I need the persistant memory of 2005 but I cannot load the software. What do I do
Some thoughts I have are...
1. Install it to the SD card (is this possible)
2. Somehow get it to install on 2005 (no idea, it is driving me crazy)
3. Somehow create my own rom with TomTom already installed by default (how the hell do I do that)
4. somehow load the install files onto my SD card???????
Any help greatly appreciated, anyone else managed to get Tomtom runing on 2005?
Maybe you use the search. All your problems are widely disussed.
I cant find any addressing the tomtom and persistant memory
What I have managed to do so far though, is to copy the cab files for TomTom 5 to the SD card, so when it goes flat and reboots, I can reinstall them from the SD card in a matter in minutes. I think I will stick with this until WM2005 becomes compatable.

K-Jam / Windows Mobile 5 & TomTom 5

Anyone got TomTom 5 working with Windows Mobile 5?
I received my k-Jam this morning but the setup.exe bombs out so I cannot get TT5 installed at all
any help appreciated!
thanks
Try to install the .cab file instead, it should work.
thanks but I have tried that. 3 of the 4 CAB files install but the main one (ttn.cab) - looks like its going to install ok and then you get "the file....installation was unsuccesful".
Any ideas?
Nothing on the TT site - I'm surprised that X51v or other early Windows Mobile 5 users have not been onto this one?
It seems like a problem with Activesync 4.0 initially but as the cab files don't work i guess we need a patch from them?
anyone got it working?
thanks
TomTom 5 install Problem
I had the same problem with the auto run procedure on my mini SD card.
I solved the problem by navigating to the '2577' folder and running each cab file directly on the phone (didnt use activesync). This seemed to work for me.
However, now Im having trouble with bluetooth com ports. Tomtom configuration does not show the port numbers assigned to my paired gps reciever.
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29282&highlight=tt5+kjam+qtek+wm5
Let me know how well tt5 runs on the k-jam ie how smooth etc as i'm awaiting my miniSD so can't try it yet!
TomTom Navigator 5.10 works with Windows Mobile 5 and Activesync 4 - but it's NOT easy. The instructions in this thread got it working for me (though I used COM4 instead of COM0):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=28386
Also I found that the bluetooth GPS had to be locked on to a signal for TomTom to see it at first - was fine after that.
Although my device is a HTC Universal, it has the same OS and Activesync version as your Wizard so there's no reason why it shouldn't work. Go to the above link and enjoy

I had the same problem. All cabs would install except the ttn cab. Here's how I solved it.
1. uninstall everything
2. install gps.cab
3. remove sd card and soft reset (this is the important bit)
4. install ttn.cab and this time it should work
Thanks for your help guys.
sl9; How did you get 5.1 to upgrade? After copying the files from the downloaded RAR file I tried to run the setup.exe file on the phone but get a message telling me that the file is not a valid windows mobile program (perhaps it is a smartphone program).

The setup.exe is meant to be run on your PC, it uses activesync. Obviously we know this doesn't work so the solution is to get the 5.10 upgrade from TomTom website as the ZIP FILE, NOT THE EXE - this is important
Anyway, extract the zip, and copy the directory with the 4 cab files in it to your SD card (where you have the map on). Then execute the cabs one by one, using the tip by jdee246 above if any of the cabs don't want to install.
After you install it, then the fun begins trying to get the damn thing to recognise your GPS device, see the link in my earlier post for a guide
Thanks guys - the soft reset seemed to do it. The manual install worked fine in the end.
I now have to wait for TomTom support to give me a code as I already had two a few months back so I can't report on how well it runs yet. Overall tho the Wizard/k-Jam is pretty slow - esp for screen refreshes.
I did try the BAKONL hack which I use to test TomTom on various devices but the ttn.cab on that patch just will not install for me under Win Mob 5.
thans
Thanks to all for your help.
Managed to get Tomtom 5.1 up and running. 5.1 seems to have fixed the gps connectivity problem.
The software runs on the K-JAM just as fast as it did on my QtekS110, with no problems yet.

Hello ,
How can I install the folder "voices" because it's not a ".cab" ?
Thanks for your help.....
Who had install Tomtom 5 on the K-jam ?
Because it's too hard for me and I don't understand everything .... :?
Thanks for your help !!!!
In total you have to copy 4 files from your wm2003 device and paste to wm2005 in these dir:
mobile device\tomtom\CurrentMap.dat
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.bmp (voice files on cd)
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.chk (voice files on cd
\Program Files\navigator\data.chk
\Program Files\navigator\tomtom navigator.exe
\Program Files\navigator\navigator.cfg
that's all.
data05.bmp and .chk is for example, you can choose one of your own voices.
Look this up on your device other wise i send you my files so you can try them.
Good Luck
GuidO
Thanks for your help !!!!!
I try this tomorrow ....
regards.
T-Mobile MDA Compact
Hi Guys
I seem to also be having problems with my MDA.
I can install tom-tom just fine, but for some reason it just doesnt recognise my Bluetooth GPS receiver. The receiver brand & model is as per this page:
http://www.qstarz.com/html/products_BT-Q770.htm
I have enabled COM 4 & 5 in the bluetooth settings page and configred tomtom to connect using either com4 or com5 but it just doesnt work.
Any help in solving this problem would be much appreciated!
Many Thanks!
This for all of you who are still having problems...
This is what i did to get my Tomtom working on my T-mobile MDA Compact:
1. uninstall tomtom using add/remove programs.
2. using file explorer deleted the following folders:
\tomtom
\program files\navigator
\program files\contacts navigation
3. Using a registry editor - browse the software sub-folders of HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and delete any tomtom, tomtom navigator, and/or tomtom gps/ tomtom bluetooth supprt folders.
(in order to avoid steps 1,2,3 you can also perform a hard reset after you have backed up all your data & files)
4. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> DRIVERS -> BUILTIN -> BTINSerial
5. Now change the index key from 4 to 6.
6. Exit the registry editor.
7. Soft reset your MDA.
8. Now install TTN5
9. After following the initial setup prompts of TTN5 exit it.
10. Now install tomtom nav. 5.1 (update available from the tomtom website)
11. Go back into tomtom and select "change preferences"
12. Go into GPS CONFIGURATION
13. Select Other Bluetooth
14. Select COM5
15. Click Done
16. Give tomtom about 10 seconds and your GPS navigation should now work OK!!!!
Hope this helps everyone who is trying to get this to work. I have spent a lot of time trying to find a solution that works and this i feel is it!
Needless to say use this solution at your own risk - all i can say is that its worked for me!
once installed, use this procedure.

It works 100%

ttn.CAB won't install despite reset
Tried installing TT5.0 on my Vario, but no luck. Like posted before, it won't install ttn.CAB. I tried:
removing all TT files, also from registry
soft reset,
installing gps.CAB,
remove SD,
soft reset,
then install ttn.CAB
but it still says 'installation failed'. Aaarrrggghhhhh
Any ideas, anyone?

Tomtom 5.xx hangs while install process

Hello,
I was pleased to hear about the new 5.21 version of TomTom, looking foward to install it on my Magician. But there is a problem i've with that new that's the same like all the older versions. I'm not able to install it on my PPC.
There is no difference installing it by the Tomtom Setup from the Desktop or installing the cabs on the Magician. I'm able to install all modules like PIMaddin, GPS and Today but the Setup hangs while performing the ttn.cab so I have to do a soft-reset. I tried several ROM-versions and did hard-reset my PPC xxx times. Don't know what to do. There is no help from Tomtom or t-mobile. They all say it must be a software problem by the other one. Thank you.
Please help me.
Looking foward for a solution
BugzBunny
TTN 5.xx install solved
Downgraded to 1.06.01 and everything seems to be fine.
Bye
BugzBunny
Werid I am using rom 1.12 and have installed the tomtom updtae 5.21 no issues. Except for wizrd which hangs at maps.

BLUETOOTH PROBLEMS !(for TomTom GPS receiver) HELP ME please

hi guys i'm a newby (this forum is great!)
i'm from Italy
i've a problem for my S100-Jam-Magician smartphone.
The Bluetooth doesn't work...
i tried before to connect a my friend's phone via bluetooth, the magician recognize the phone (i can read the name of the phone in the bluetooth settings) but the communication doesn't work.
i cant't upgrade the phone on clubuimate, (i don't have the time to explain) so i'm here.
now i've bought this GPS receiver (Sirf STAR III) http://www.handnav.co.uk/product_details.php?id=228
and i've installed the tomtom navigator 5 software (it works) with italian Map.
as for the phone The Magician relevate the name of the receiver, but it doesn't work, there are problems and the bluetooth connection go down automatically. (i've tried normal ways e all normal settings combination - port 4 , 5 , but nothing-9
Appears continuosly the message
"Desligue o modo de voo em primeiro lugar!"
i think it's spanish or portoguese, but i don't undestand why, because i have the italian rom. U(maybe because i had installed before another version of tomtom navigator with portoguese map?)
i've read other post about bluetooth but the tools doesnìt work and i haven't founded the .cab file that maybe solve bluetooth problems.
Can you help me ?
i'm in troubles !
SOLUTIONS :
1) some patch to install that resolve bluetooth problems
it should better because the phone works good...
2) upgrade magician ROM
i don't know which is my rom version
during the magician rebooting appear
R 1.05.00 G 1337.39 D 1.06.04 ita
however i think it is old...
with an official (on clubimate) newer version are there bletooth improvings ?
IMPORTANT
a - i'd like a working italian version
b - i have seen the upgrading post for magician and i HAVE NOT UNDERSTOOD ANITHING...because i'm not a tecnich or expert...only a normal user ... forgive me
there is a easier and more detailed tutorial?
is there some italian user that can help me?
my msn accont is [email protected]
thankyou
The ?best? bt patch can be found here: O2 MINI NEW BLUETOOTH STOCK.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33532&highlight=magician+stock+bt
Login to be able to download.
Find yourself a rom on the ftp, either shipped-rom (.exe) or image file (.nb1) and give me signal what you've chosen. I'll send you the instructions for the necessary steps.
Cheers, M
Hello!
Before upgrading your Magician, You should test your bt GPS connection with an other little GPS software like cemonitor ( download link--> http://www.gpspassion.com/fr/download.asp?dl=1 )
Try to find your BT GPS com Port normally is com 5. If not I give you a little soft that map the com5 automatically at start. It is "tomtom5patch.exe" that must be on your "\windows\Startup\" folder.
SoftReset your Magician after this install.
In CEmonitor, set the com 5 and look if your GPS communicate.
I forgot to tell you to set the BT GPS on the windows settings, with the correct password. You probably made it before.
Try it and ask again...
nothing to do
the first patch is good but doesn't resolve my problem
that damned write in spanish continues to appaer when i try to make bluetooth work and bluetooth shut down.
the second patch doesn't work, when
i think i have installed a wrong or damnaged software on the PDA in the past that has ruined something...
THANK YOU for the helping,
now i'll try to install a new rom with your help.
have you got any suggestion for the rom to install?
do they work all fine, even in italy? wìhich is the best one in your opinion?
is there the risk to damnage the magician?
There's a 1.12ITA shipped-rom on the ftp under magacian. This is the safest upgrade.
- make a backup of every piece of data you want to keep, especially contacts, calendar, tasks. Everything will be lost & programs need to be reibstalled
- synchronize with outlook via Act.Sync
- Download the ITA1.12 shipped-rom
- execute the downloaded file
- follow instructions on your PC & watch the progress on the magician as well
- when finished, you'll be asked to hard-reset
- hard-reset & enjoy the upgraded magician
- synchronize the outlook data
- reinstall your programs
That's it.
Regards, M
it seems simple...
now i try
grazie !!
thank you all
now al things work perfectly.
You're welcome.
Hi,that message(desligue o modo de....)compare from a few time on my magician. The rom is the same from 8 month, and the messagge compare from 1 month. The only things that I change are the 2 giga sandisk, and I installed 3 different navigator on my device.I don't think the problem comes from rom(1.12 ita),maybe from sd or other navigator?

[Q] Problems with the Widcomm Bluetooth Stack

For a running project we moved from old HP PDAs to new HTC "Touch 2" smartphones. But unfortunately the bluetooth stack preinstalled on these devices isn't accepted by Labview Mobile applications, and the Widcomm stack in Labview is not compatible with this phone.
I did the following procedure to try and get the program working:
Labview BT stack
Hard reset of device
Turn on bluetooth, set to discoverable
Via LabView/Project Manager/ Windows Mobile 6 Device/ Install / "Support for Widcomm Bluetooth" install BT support on PDA, accept install on PDA.
Soft reset PDA, after reset the message "'BTTrayCE' is not a valid Pocket PC Application" is shown, and it's not possible to turn on BT.
By removing "BtCoreIf.dll" & "BtSdkCE30.dll" from the /Windows dir on the PDA, and soft reset, BT will turn on again.
Start Labview application (StimCom CRE_PDA.exe)
Select 'Search for BT devices'
StimCom CRE_PDA.exe will crash, and WM asks for error reporting
notes: method above installs Widcomm stack for Windows mobile version 3. The program is listed on the PDA as "NI Labview Pocket PC Bluetooth support 7.1". Uninstalling this program from the 'remove programs' will fail.
On the clean HTC image "BtSdkCE50.dll" and "BtSdkCE30.dll" are present in the Windows directory, so I assume that both v3 and v5 of the Widcomm stack are allready installed.
This leads to the conclusion that Widcomm v3 stack is needed, but the one provided with Labview is not compatible to this system, and the version present on the device is not compatible with Labview.
(v4 doesn't exist)
Step 1 till 3 are enough to get the Labview program running on a Sony Erricson Eperia with "Jack v5.0" WM6.5 firmware (the same BT hardware?) and on a HTC Touch with a Dutch WM 6.0.
According to http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/372508B-01/lvpdagsm/pda_install_widcomm/ when both the "BtSdkCE30.dll" and "BtSdkCE50.dll" are already present, you must only copy LVBtw.dll into the Windows folder of the device. I tried that as well, but the program still crashed as soon as you try the bluetooth connection.
I also tried to copy "BtCoreIf.dll" & "BtSdkCE30.dll" from the /Windows dir of a Xperia WM6.5 (Custom firmware "Jack v5.0" (International English) because that device also had WM6.5 and the program worked fine on that device. But on the HTC Touch 2 it gave the "'BTTrayCE' is not a valid Pocket PC Application" error.
The same error is given when I try to install the Widcomm stack for x51v ( http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/...widcomm-axim-x50v-x51v-state-development.html ), and the same error is given if I copy these files from the Broadcomm SDK (BTWCE-1_7_1_5201-SDK.zip)
Firmware of the HTC Touch2 NLD:
R 3.48.25.27
G 61.41t.25.31H
D 1.28.66092
Any suggestions on how to fix the problems with the BT stack?
(install custom firmware is not an option, due to legal issues)
Thanks in advance.
(the question is also asked in the NI developers zone: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Err...ocket-PC-Application-quot/m-p/1272414#M531155 upto now no answers have been given)
