Popped into town at lunch, into my local O2 Shop.
Just checking for an update, and please to be informed stock just received.
Was able to touch/hold/feel/see contents etc.
Only at last hurdle did sales assistant realise he coulndt sell it - that's next Saturday - 1st Nov.
Pricing was 'debatable' - initially quoted £450 under contract. Then he said it would change again 1st Dec. Mumbled something about £250. Challenged him with £349 and he said 'who knows'.
Am expecting a phone call before then. Will update or if you guys find anything....
You can buy an XDAII online now from the O2 website for £349.99
goto http://shop.o2.co.uk/shop
choose link 'build my own'
and it appears on second page of phone options
or you can order one from them on 0870 225 7879
They just quoted me 7-10 days delivery
is that without the contract then seems to be blimey thats good isnt it
That's with a twelve month contract
After being shafted by one stop phone shop, i've been searching for the best deal on a UK based XDA II.
I've just found e2save.com who are doing the XDAII with 3 months insurance on o2 200 for £119. Thats the same deal as one stop were originally offering. Other best i can find is £139.
Anyone dealt with e2save.com? They offer 7 day return and price matching as well.
They quote the o2 200 tariff at £30.99, most other places quote £30. Is this because they have bolted on itemised billing?
I think o2's rule now is that contract has to be kept for 6 months isn't it, then it can be downgraded to a cheaper one.
The double talk and text they are offering at the mo runs out at the end of april. I presume that if i ordered a phone before then, but it didn't get delivered and connected until after, would i still get the offer?
Also is it 3 months doubled for the months after connection?
I will get an XDA II one day, if the offer is right!
cheers
The e2save deal sounds (as you say) comparable to the one that I got from OneStopPhoneshop ...
Do a search on eBay for seller "uncle-jamal" and he is selling XDA II's for £139 on O2 400, with other deals available - but not as good as e2save.
The only other seller I found (via this board) was Uplands, but they were not as good (price-wise) either.
One piece of advice - wherever you go, it may be worth making a quick phone call before placing the order to see if they actually have any stock - I gather that O2 cannot get enough of these models at the moment, and as a result I had to wait 3 weeks for mine from OSPS - it was worth it though.

When i spoke to mobiles2yourdoor, they said they order them in and there would definately be no problem getting one within 4 days!. I suppose once they've got your money, if there's a delay that's too bad.
I'll phone e2save and see whats what, but i'm sure most places like onestop will say they have them even if they don't just to get the customer.
phoned up e2save today and they said that there was a delivery of the xda II today (thats why the prices have gone up on their site!!)
Well i ordered the o2 100 traiff at £139 plus P+P. They charge £25.99 a month and you get free itemised billing. I pointed out its not free as your paying for it and you can't elect not to have the billing (which other shops allow you to do!)
3 months free insurance as well.
So it should be delivered wednesday, hopefully!
Hi,
Just ordered my from e2save via the phone mine is coming tomorrow, did you notice that the insurance was not being supplied via O2
" 3 months FREE insurance with Allianz Cornhill " with a £50 access and you have to cancel the insurance after the 3 months or the will keep on taking the £7.99 it out your bank
steve
What time did you order yours? I phoned at about 5.30pm, and they said i wouldn't get it until wednesday
yeah the insurance is pretty standard. Its free for 3 months, then you just ahve to cancel direct debit if you don't want it any more. I will probably drop it as its no better than my home insurance.
Shame its not like the old ornage insurance. Free, new phone in 24 hours wherever you are, and no excess, oh happy days
It annoyed me that they changed their offers just because they got stock in!
Hi ordered mine around 3 o'clock (uk) the girl on the phone said they had only just come in, she also said that there was more in stock,
My son who ordered one from Carphone Wharehouse was told that they had no stock on sunday but they shipped it on monday so perhaps a lot of place got some form of stock,
When i spoke to the O2 shop in Derby the guy said that they had a back order list of 10.
steve
Well came today as expected, so i'm happy with their service. Seemed to be the best deal around at the moment. needless to say in a week or so there will be a better one!
I got jerked around by onestopphoneshop too!!!
They accepted my first order on 23/4/2004, asked for utility bills and then just dumped the order without telling me anything, by phone, email, or whatever. I only discovered it when I phoned up to check the order on the 1/5/2004, no reason given. I re-placed the order immediately, but, ahh sorry sir they're now UK£20 dearer AND you have to have a 6 months 02 200 contract not 4 months as it used to be. B*STARDS!
Even then they tried to cancel the order twice as the first utility bill I sent them was a month out of date, and then they lost the second one. It was only frequent and persistent phone calls that got me it at all.
DON'T BUY IT FROM THEM! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Oh, and the free car kit they send you with it? The XDA II is too wide to fit it.
best deals
Guys i went for mobileshop.com
I got my XDA II the next day! with O2 250 + 50 bolt-on for 37 a month
Their service is excelllent and I am a business user
I was looking at the O2 site yesterday hoping to pick up an XDA Exec but now I do not see any mention of it. The handset is no longer available. Is it still available in O2 shops ??
Looking at the price of the Orange device (M5000) O2 seem to be offering the best deal at the moment.
Yep still on sale in O2 shops.
Got mine yesterday - i'd advise phoning ahead first to save a wasted journey.
Its in the Business section under PDAs.
It is curious as to why.
Could be that stock is low for personal users OR O2 have realised that this is not really a personal device and is much more suited to business users. Unfortunately this leaves O2 with only the IIi that they can sell to the personal user, this could induce a fast track tot he next device.
PS XDA IIi now only £79.99 on any contract
Ordered mine friday..
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/o2/7839.htm
Stock is shifting like weldfire, so get in there quick..... o2 said the device was 149 online but 199 in the shops, got mine for 90 on a 35 quid contract which i'll be dropping down as soon as i can.
Got mine through store upgrade, £149 on £30/month (12 months). O2 store in London Wall str. Not bad. After last year out-of-stock experiences with the IIs and IIi, this time I went to the store and got it straight away no need to hang around waiting for the postman Always miss them.
Only out of stock?
I phoned the O2 "online help" number this morning, and spoke to a chap who assured me that it was only off the web page because it was out of stock. He was unable to give me a date for new phones arriving in, but was certain it would be coming back for personal customers.
Works for me, as I still have two months of my "3" contract to run...
Fingers crossed he knew what he was talking about.
regards,
/alan
Again, it must depend on who you get through to as I was assured on Friday that they had a lot of stock left of them.
I wonder if certain centres are advising different customers differently for any reason.

I sent them a email and they said:
"Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service and showing your interest in our product and services.
The O2 XDA EXEC 3G phone will be launched on 17 November 2005. For more information in this regard, please contact our Sales team on 08702 257 879. They are available Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 9:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Calls are charged at national rate."
Don't know what that means.
The girl on O2 said the phone were coming on the 16th, maybe o2 might put them back on the 3g contract...
Its back at the online store for personal buyers
Mine fell 2 feet from my pocket on Saturday and died instantly - no visible damage - after 3 weeks of use. I phoned O2 for a replacement and they said they were expecting stock on 17th Nov. The website states that you should take the phone to your nearest O2 shop but the shop told me to ring customer services since the phone was under a month old.
I've ordered my XDA Exec late last night from mobilefun.co.uk, I just called them and they said it's beeing processed by the warehouse and to be shipped out today
I went for:
O2 XDA Exec on O2 Business 250 + Data 36 (£52.04 per month)
I need the 36MB per mo, as I will be doing allot of e-mail
the Unit itself: £19.95
What a deal !!
Null
Congrats mate, hope you have (mobile)fun!
Have you got a confirmed delivery date though? I cancelled my order with mobilefun after a week of "Sorry we've got no idea when we're even going to find out when we're ever going to get any stock".
Order my XDA Exec eleven days ago with One Stop Phone Shopper and was told it would be delivered next working day (Monday 21st) still no sign and have been told no stock available, the sales guy bascically lied through his teeth to make the sale and took the money out of my account within 20 minutes of confirming the sale!!!
Now just waiting the rumour mill is it could be two-three weeks or even longer.
One Stop is part of the Carphone Warehouse.
With O2's online shop, I ordered on Day 1, received it on Day 3. It was about 20 quid dearer (*) than mobilefun or onestop, but at least it's *real*.
* on the 'today only' price offer last week, using the student link... it's more like 50 quid dearer now I think

whoohoo
Today was supposed to be the day it launched, but O2 say it is TBC. However it has been available to order from their website since Friday. All very strange.
birmingham o2 store in the bullring have some in stock , all the best
Thanks for that, the Oxofrd Street (London) stores are hopeless. One said what is that, the other siad it had been cancelled, i told him that was the Zinc and he went to check with his manager.
They are clueless!!!!!
asked yesterday, who said just keep calling each day! nothing yet in oxford area.
Just been informed by O2 that the offical release date has been moved from 23rd April to 30th April
Which is a joke, as you can buy it on their website!!!!
But it says "Pay Monthly - £89.99 - Up to 14 days delivery" so i guess thats so it can take orders, without fullfilling them for a while. cheeky!
what sort of deals are you guys hoping to get? im upgrading from the xda mini s.
I would hope to get the handset free and pay around £35 a month including insurance...
I was on O2 Max £75 a month but at half price for 12 months (on a 12 month contract)
If they will do tha deal again then i will go with it, but i really want them to throw in a few more texts as well.
I also have a data bundle as well.
What are you guys getting, i like the idea of free insurance?
called today-still not available. will try again tmrw.
Called 8 times today, stock sheet was updated today at 2pm, no sign of it
Nothing in Exeter- they not even aware of this XDA!!!
Spoke to 202- nothing in stock, they don't know when will be available.
The thing is that they are not going to do ANY BETTER deals then those posted online... I haven't upgraded my phone (EXEC) for 7 months or so, paying my bill by DD and I'm getting same prices as everyone else.
Shame.
The other thing is that I'm happy with my EXEC but I need a new phone for my missus so Trion seems to be perfect...
Will try next week
Cheers
Chris
I got told it will be tomorrow. So lets see.
Spoke to O2 at around 3pm. Said that there was stock and that my Trion was sent today - should be here tomorrow (or Wednesday). I was told that stock was available yesterday as the person I spoke to issue one yesterday.
just orderd!!!
I was told that it will rel. on 30 so today i called to upgrade my contract with o2 trion and i got it!!!! it is in stock and will ship asap!
lets see i will let others know about it. I mean o2 packing etc. but on £35/m you have to pay £90/-
Why if i called 10 times today would they say they did not have it in stock?
Are they really that stupid?
@ theraq
If you were on an upgrade because your contract was due for renewal, why didn't you threaten to go elsewhere.
I did it with Vodafone back in Feb including sending a fax declaring my intentions to terminate the contract. I got a telephone call the next day with an offer of the V1605 free on a £25 p/m contract if I were to continue with Vodafone.
What kind of deal are you guys getting from O2?
DD, 8 months over contract, one of the oldest tariffs (35 quid/m but I've never paid less than 60-70), 3 years with O2.
What should I ask for? Send them an fax?
Cheers
Chris
Ordered yesterday - and arrived at 9am this morning. Good service.
Yes, I have one now. Really annoying customer service. Was to be delivered on the 21th, then the, 24th and then 26th. Finally got it Saturday morning on the 28th.
My initial impressions were good. However, I'm now having it door-to-door replaced. I've found a random issue with it whereby you will receive a text message and the messing software will not respond to the keyboard. The keyboard does work, because should I press Shift, then the 'C' notification appears. Should I press Space then the Start menu pulls down. It as if the messenging 'window' is not selected. The only way to get the keyboard working again is to soft reset the device. In doing so, you lose the text message you were responding to. Nice bit of data loss on a brand new device there. Hopefully the replacement will work. To test, I would do a hard reset but they want the device.
Will let you know what happens tomorrow.
