tomtom traffic with BT and wizard? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I just discovered tomtom traffic on my tomtom5 software. I tried registering my account, but realized that tomtom traffic requires a internet connection and at the same time my gps receiver uses bluetooth.
Has anyone tried this or found a workaround for this?
Also anyone know of a miniusb to miniusb cable?
This might be my only alternative

Just use your phone's GPRS/EDGE connection. That's what TomTom Traffic was designed to use. Bluetooth and GPRS can be used at the same time.

GPS Mouse for Wizard?

Hi,
Anyone know if you can get a GPS mouse with a mini-usb connection and if so can it work with teh Wizard? (Thinking Tomtom)
Thank you
Anyone?
Do You realy need wires to connect?
I use Pharos GPS I360 with bluetooth adapter
and it works fine.
As far as i know you cannot use the miniUSB connector for GPS input (I could be wrong but i did a little reading before i decided to trust bluetooth [again])
However as fresh123breeze says just use a bluetooth one, seems to work fine with TTN5 (unlike TTN3 which was cr*p on bluetooth)
Thanks,
I have the Tomtom BT GPS receiver; I just windered if there was an alternate non-BT version
I would like a wired gps also
pre mda vario I used a HP2210 which was wired to a Haicom GPS when in the the car
The benifit was the ability to power the gps and charge the PDA whilst in the car. I never used the mains charger. Never had to worry about flat PDA of Btooth GPS batteries

Wifi & Bluetooth simultaneously

Hi,
Does anyone else attempt this with their MDA Vario?
Blue tooth enabled and communicating incar with Parrot CK3100 - works fine, bt always enabled, and pairs with parrot on entering the car and switching on ignition.
Load up tomtom5 - bluetooth connects fine to GPS aswell as parrot & can use gprs to retrieve traffic updates.
Enable Wifi to attach to an 80gb incar wifi hardisk, and use tcpmp to play music from it through car stereo via stereo jack.
Problem seems to be the bluetooth keeps dropping out regulary while the wifi is active - ie the tomtom will lose gps connection, and regain it a few minutes later, or the parrot will display disconnected then reconnect a minute later. Disable wifi and it seems to behave itself (but obviously no music)
I have an Ipaq 5550 which had been using the wifi/blutooth for all the above simultaneously (and still can), which I want to replace with the wizard.
incar 80GB HD!?!
Hey Paul,
I don't know the answer to your problem (yet).
But what harddisk do you use in your car to connect over your Wizard? I have a Parrot 3100 also and love the idea of playing my music wireless in my car.
Hope you can advise me.
Asus WL-HDD2.5 + 80gb disk, powered via a 5v2a camcorder carcharger (the normal 1amp accessory socket chargers don't have the power to start up the disk).

Simultaneous Bluetooth Connection Use

Hi,
I was wondering, is it possible to use bluetooth car kit on a Wizard at the same time it is using its bluetooth connection to talk to a bluetooth GPS dongle (Holux 236)?
TIA
i use a parrot car bt car kit and the same holux gps receiver sometimes at the same time and have no problems.
I also use a Holux 236 and talk with my earpiece at the same time. I haven't had any problems yet.
Nice one, thanks for that.
This should be perfectly possible.
The Bluetooth standard v1.2 allows a device to connect to multiple devices via bluetooth at the same time.
Not sure on the exact specs, but can imagine the device time splitting data from multiple devices with certain connection types having different priorities?!?!
So, having a BT Headset and GPS at same time - headset device should be ok, but GPS data may be slower to update....
Thanks again.

InternetSharing over USB AND BT on PPC activated

Hi Everybody!
Looking around for a soulution to BT PAN with Toshiba BT Stack on my Dell I played a while with the USB connection.
I'm using TomTom with BT GPS quite often the same time I'm online, so I tried to disable BT on PPC, Internet Sharing with USB, IP assigned, online - then reactivated BT and it works great both together - even phone calls meanwhile connected via UMTS to the internet.
So, using the build in function in WinXP and set up alternative options for your IP/DNS/etc works even (takes 3 - 5 seconds more to obtain IP) fine.
So no need any more to deactivate BT on the PCC before using internet.
Regards,
Alex

Problem with GPS bluetooth unit, do I have to pair with it each time?

I never used bluetooth GPS device so what I found so far with IOgear GPS receiver is strange.
Whenever I switch on my Wizard and GPS device within a range, I'm prompted to establish pair with it (even though I already done it before), then I have to manually setup outgoing COM port in Bluetooth manager and only after that mapping software can see GPS device.
I have to do each time I switch off and on GPS bluetooth receiver, is it expected or something is broken with my Wizard OS or GPS receiver?
I use WM6.
