Is this normal? On all my other HTC devices I could press the phone button when the device is sleeping and it would wake up and jump to the dialpad. I am having to first press the power button to wake up the 818 Pro and then press the phone button... Any way to fix?
Go Start->Settings->Personal->Buttons->Lock, than check "Do not lock buttons". This is it. Now any button will bring on your device.

my xda2 power button was locked after i press it go to turn off device but the gsm is still runing and if an incoming phone or sms the device go wake again and the xda goes to normal again, but if device is turning off by power management, i can wake it up with any button, but only when i'm turning it off by power button the device buttons is locked, somebody know what problem in mine please help!!!!!!

if thats the case then i would say that the button is broken
I'm running Black 3.01, and the only way I can bring the device out of STANDY is with the power button. My KeyLock is set to "Lock buttons if device is locked." The device is NOT locked, just in standby, and the only button that can get it to wake up is a quick-push of the Power-Button.
I thought there was an app that said you could push ANY button to bring it out, but I can't find that on WM6 Black 3.01.

I asked this same question long ago with no real answer, i hate the small power button and its just to hard to find... If the power button could be relocated to the PTT that would make this phone awesome...

Start>Settings>System>Key Lock
Select "Do not lock buttons"
Hello.
My solution to this problem is to use MortSaver. It can be configured:
one press on (a specified) button sends the phone to standby
two presses on (a specified) button bring the phone back
one press on (a specified) button show the time, missed calls, mms/sms, battery and phone signal
I've assigned it to the upper right (Internet Explorer) button and it does the job well.

Not sure if this helps, but a friend of mine broke his power button, and now wakes his device up by ejecting and re-inseting his memory card.
Is there a software that will lock my keys and buttons including the ones on the side during a call? I'm always inadvertently hitting or pressing some button during a call.
Just press the power button to turn the display off which in turns locks the keys. you have to press the power button again to turn the display back on
thanks but i'm not looking to turn the phone OFF, i need to not have the buttons active during a phone call when the phone is ON.
I oftentimes accidentally press some button or another when I get a phone call. When I used to have a Treo 700wx there was a feature to lock all buttons during a phonecall. I'm looking for that functionality here as well.
I also had a Treo, but I don't find the need for the key lock anymore on my XV6800. I don't think I've ever accidentally pushed a button during a call.
I would like to lock all hardware button at suspend except Record.
Wich program can do this?
When I press the Record button, my device go Suspend, when press and hold my device wake up.
Unfortunatelly, my power button is bad.
How many of you have faced the problem:
The power button is too out of reach to bring the phone out of standby. I used Xperia x10 earlier and the phone will show the lock screen once the middle button is pressed.
However for the Desire HD, i have to somehow press the annoying power button for it to display the lock screen.
Cant there be any other button which can shopw trhe lock screen cuz to reach the power button is not so handy.
Set your screen timeout to something quick. It will lock itself then.
I don't really have this problem as have biggish hands, but I can imagine what it'd be like.
Locking is not the issue.
Unlocking is the issue. To bring the phone out of standby and to show the slide to unlock screen, one has to press the "OUT OF REACH" and designed to "AVOID ACCIDENTAL" press button at the top.
I mean the top button is already a accidental press proof position. It really is a task to first press it ans then unlock the phone. Thats 2 procedures just to make a call.
Can some one mod this?
