I have a strange problem: In the Start Menu, the icons for some of the programs seem to disappear sometimes, leaving a default Windows icon (white background with a blue title bar).
All of the programs for which this has occurred so far, are installed on the SD card, but I leave the SD card always installed.
Soft-resetting does not fix the problem. Removing and re-adding the programs to the Start Menu sometimes works, though.
Maybe the power savings which turns off the SD card is to blame. I'll investigate it some more.
(Not to be confused with this issue.)

So how do I remove those little icons down there? Looks like they are not part of "Today" screen (which can ofcourse be customized), I can't remove them there.
There must be some kind of registry tweak to remove that.
Battery status is completely unusable to me becouse track battery status other way on the Today screen.
nevermind i found out how to do it.
just remove init_tray from windows\startup and thats it!
Well i did just that and it works. but i noticed one not so good side effect. When i press down on the d-pad. Select the last thing on my today screen and press down again. The selection color (box, whateveryou want to call it) disapears and does not come back when i press up. I have to use the touch screen to get the selection color back.
Removing the status bar
When I checked the windows/startup folder there was no tray_init listed on my XDA Orbit.
However, I renamed the windows\TrayAp.exe by putting my initials in front as follows -
windows\ahTrayAp.exe
I then did a soft reset and the tray and icons no longer appear.
I have reset a few times and it the stus bar still doesn't appear
I have managed to remove the Wireless Manager Icon from system tray at the bottom of the Today Screen Using a hack from my old Universal.
In the Process, the battery Icon also disappeared, which is good ( i wanted it that way). Basically, i don't need the tray at the bottom at all.
The Problem is that the Battery Icon keeps coming back on in the tray by itself, I don't know why or how. But a softrest will make it disappear again, but it will come back on again.
I don't know what triggers it to come back on. Is there away to make it disappear FOREVER
Thanks
ok here is the deal ....
I would suggest you use some time the search function or refer to that link and you may have success in your problem.

Look in your \Windows\Start-up directory. There are a list of stuff there, and one of them is the battery (I think the file name has the word 'batt' or something like that, or it has a battery icon), move this file to other location (e.g. back it up, just incase) and softreset your device.
Pretty strange issue I've had since a couple of days: ActiveSync still works perfectly but the window can't be brought up to the screen. When it's not minimized to the system tray (as an icon), it shows up on the active programs bar but the window itself is never visible. When I right click it in the program bar, the "previous size" and "maximize" buttons are greyed out.
It's annoying as I can't see the synchronisation status, but other than that the program works fine.
Anyone had this before?
Hi all,
Having followed the instructions I now have a non-bricked NST with NookManager and ReLaunch. I now have two fairly irritating problems, probably due to me poking around in the settings menu a bit too hard.
PROBLEM THE FIRST
In ReLaunch, my Settings gear does nothing. I press it and the screen flicks and then goes back to ReLaunch (exactly where I was in the first place). This makes my inner tinkerer sad and also makes it more than a little difficult to try and fix the issue with:
PROBLEM THE SECOND
If I go to the Nook e-book reading mode and then take myself back to ReLaunch (I'd bound it to long-press of the hardware n key before my Settings button stopped working), the entire bottom bar has vanished. Which means no Applications button, which means I can't really get to launching any of my apps, which means I have... an ebook reader. The only way I can restore it is by rebooting the NST and selecting ReLaunch from the launcher menu at startup.
Any clues?

You say you cannot access apps, so figure you have Android Market installed? You could try this - Install launcher 7, once installed, you can 'open' it from the notification. You should then be able to access your apps. Make your first port of call the Nook Touch Mod Manager.
Or you could reset the settings in ReLaunch
I have the same problem.

I even unrooted my Nook and rooted it back to fix his. Unfortunately after one use of settings, this problem occured again. Would anyone help?
Undoubtedly it hit an error and died.
What error? Look at the logcat and see.
You need ADB to see logcat.

I have the same exact problem. Could anyone please help fixing this?
I just uploaded a couple photos from Google Photos to my dropbox folder, and I could not open recent apps to close them once I was finished.
It would go to a blank, black screen. Finally it closed but then my phone rebooted it self.
Upon rebooting I now cannot use the onscreen buttons, and am unable to pull the notification bar down. The phone also doesn't connect to wifi, but is connected to my carrier though I cannot use internet. If I open an app I can't get out of it either unless I use the back button.
I've tried rebooting, and I've tried wiping the cache. Does anyone know what's gone wrong here?
Even in 'safe mode' I can't pull down the notification bar more than the first small drawer and I still cannot use the home or recent apps button.
My nexus is completely stock by the way.
Edit: Factory restored. Fixed my issue.
