I upgraded today my O2 to the latest JJ ROM (1.30.76 WWE)
Now I noticed that WITHOUT running the Extended ROM unlocker (like I need to my previous O2 ROM). I am able to access it through TotalCommander and delete and put files in there, so it's not locked.
BUT I am unable to Unhide it so it would appear visible to the system.
Here the changes I am trying to make (The did work on my previous ROM)
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
"Bootphase"=dword:00000002
"Order"=dword:00000001
"LoadFlags"=dword:00000001
"DriverPath"="Drivers\BuiltIn\TrueFFS_G31"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
"MountHidden"=dword:00000000
"Folder"="ExtendedROM"
"PartitionDriver"=""
"Name"=""
"DefaultFileSystem"="FATFS"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\SDMemory]
"MountHidden"=dword:00000000
"Folder"="SD Card"
I emphesize the fact that reading and writing to the ROM with total commander does work fine. But why can't I see it anymore in the filesystem
Have you tried running the unlocker/Unhider? I have run that under the new imate ROM, this is the one that pops up with a window to reboot TWICE. Then i soft reset via software (not reset hole) and it works.
Total commander can see ExtendedROM even if you dont unlock or unhide it. You just cant write to it i think if it is not unlocked.
You have to un-hide the partition though so it will come out as one of the options when installing programs.
May I ask why do you need to unhide it?

Hi Jorgee,
Yes I did just that I ran this 9k cab which asks you to reset the device twice. Then I used a software soft reset (xpShutdown) . still nothing.. the extendedrom is accessible and writable but still hidden.
The reason I would like to unhide it is obviously to install programs on it just like i did before the JJ rom upgrade which i did yesterday.
Thanks

Can you go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\TrueFFS and list the keys that begin with TrueFFS?
Next as you appear to have a registry error, could you actually list what is in your registry for the keys you have posted above, rather than simply pasting these values into the post?
Thanks

Thanks dah54,
but problem is just now solved.
This is the problem: DriverPath"="Drivers\BuiltIn\TrueFFS_G31"
Ot should be TrueFFS1 and NOT as it appears TrueFFS_G31. I think the cab sets this value incorrectly. anyway i manually made the change and now it works!
I had the same problem after upgrading to the lastest Orange ROM for M5000 I just follow your registry changes not I have Extended_ROM2 appears, when exploring files.
Is ther a way to only see Extended_ROM without 2 at the end?
Good job

I use QTEK_FILESTORE on my device.....
So when I install, i have 3 choices.
1. Device
2. QTEK_FILESTORE
3. Storage Card
Here's a CAB
Here's a CAB which makes the correct changes. I copy it to my \Extended ROM so that \Extended ROM is visible after every hard reset.

I have a T-Mobile Vario that have a dialer T-Mobile skin. Can I change this skin to default WM5 dialer (blue)?
Thanks
Yep I want to do this as well the T mobile dialer skin is well poo realy had no probs on my XDA II
Try searching 'dialer skin' in search.
Thats how I found WM5 dialer skin for my JAM.
Good luck 8)
Tried that with No luck
1. Using a registry editor - edit the following registry entry: 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin'.
2. The 'Enabled' DWORD value can be '1' for the T-Mobile skin or '0' for the default WM5 skin. You will probably find a '1' in your t-mobile device and '0' if you have an I-Mate or QTEK
3. Change the value of the above so that that you get: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 0'
4. Soft Reset and you should see the defaul WM5 dialer.
5. In the background of the dialer you will probably see a small faded T-Mobile logo. If this irritates you - you can get rid of it too by:
6. Download the following file:
http://members.home.nl/pieterstroink/GoT_startpost/K-JAM/carrierlogo.gif
carrierlogo.gif (right click, save as)
7. Do not change the name of the file, it must remain carrierlogo(.gif)
8. Find the original carrierlogo.gif file on your MDA Vario - it should be in the windows directory. Overwrite this file with the file that you have just downloaded.
9. Soft reset
10 Done
T-Mobile dialer OUT
Thanks Lisa... work!
Thanks for this...

Smartdialler??
Hello,
Now, I haven't SmartDialer/interllidialer!!!
I don't know if was after this change or after delete Extended_ROM2 files; but I have .CAB files and not any smartdialer CAB (only smart dialer enabler)!
Can somebody help? Or send this CAB file?
Thanks
The blank carrier logo worked, but the DWORD value still keeps resetting itself to "1" again after a soft reset...
What am I doing wrong?
[EDIT] Oh well..... somehow the phonepad changed and when I look up my registry the value now is (and stays) at "0".
Don't ask me how or what.... but it's fine now. :wink:
Last question: does anyone know how to erase/change the T-Mobile boot screen (when you do a soft reset)?
THNX.
SmartDialer
Well... it is true... if change registry value 1 to 0 put WM5 skin, but SmartDialer don't work.
If change again 0 to 1 smartdialer work (and dialer too) but with T-Mobile skin... that is not beauty!
Somebody know how put Dialer and SmartDialer WM5 skins at T-Mobile Vario?
Thanks

Anyone?
Can't overwrite carrierlogo.gif
I can change to dialer skin fine with the registry key, but I can't overwrite the T-mobile carrierlogo.gif - it is always write-protected. How can I make it stop being read-only, so I don't get 'access denied' when attempting rename/delete?
Maybe put phone at Flight mode that off communications...
hi lisa just looking at your post. how do you edit the registry. or how do you get to the hkey menu
many thanks
Well I tried changing the value DWORD value from 1 to 0 but I just get a access denied message, any help?
anyone??????

I have the same problem, I searched the intire forum but couldn´t get a solution for this problem.
I can´t change my logo neither, I also get the message "acces denied or write protect"

I had the same problem when copying files from the PC to the phone so I copied them in a temporary folder on the phone and then used the total commander (free) on the phone to move/copy files to the desired destination. There is a warning message of overwriting, but it worked for me
good luck
I use PHM Regedit to set KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 0'. I had the same problem with Enabled =0 changing back to 1. what I did was to backup the registry before doing a soft reset.
Changing the carrierlogo.gif, if you use Total Commander or GSFinder go to options and make sure the Rom files are hidden otherwise you are trying to overwrite carrierlogo.gif in the Rom.
Removing TMO phone skin is easy:
HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enable=1
Remove DIALER a PROGRESS entries under the Skin entry.
But if you modify these entries in some registry app, after soft reset they will be back, so best way is do it during instalation phase. I've created a few cabs for:
enable phone skin
disbale phone skin
remove skin registry entries and changing smart dialer skin to blue.
Changing Phone pad to qtek's one.
If would some want i can attach them here or upload them to the ftp.
Rom I currently heve on my Wizard is K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship. I want to change it to Qtek_9100_1_6_7_ENG with aWizard. I want also to change extended rom to Qtek_9100_1_6_7_ENG_Extended_ROM2, but if I'm trying to copy it to /Extended_ROM/ it warns me that it's impossible to overwrite files. I've deleted all files in /Extended_ROM/ with Total Commander, but those files are seemed to still be there since there is a question if I want to overwrite. I was trying to use Unlock Ext Rom Wizard from this forum, but when I install it to my Wizard there is being created /Extended_ROM2/, but I still can't copy new ext rom either to this folder or /Extended_Rom/. There were created in those folders strange subfolders which I can't remove. If anyone can help me I wolud be grateful.
no one knows?
Two registry keys
Forget the download and just change the following two registry keys:
HIDDEN:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "Bootphase"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "MountHidden"=dword:00000001
SHOWN:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "Bootphase"=dword:00000002
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "MountHidden"=dword:00000000
I just changed my registry with these settings, here some things you have to know if you do this
1) After changing the registry values, shutdown your PDA and turn it on again (soft-reset doesn't work, the values are not static yet or something, turning your PDA off and on works to keep the values).
2) Your Storage Card is renamed to "Storage Card 2", so ANY app installed on the Storage Card does NOT work anymore, you have to install/upgrade them again on the Storage Card.
ALSO you get a folder named Storage Card, but doesnt contain any files.
In your File Explorer you got the following "drives" after this registry tweak
- Device
- Storage Card
- Storage Card 2
- Extended_ROM2
Peace!
After I change the registry with your method, in the camera option can't save the picture to Storage card. Only can save in device and extended rom.
There just ain't any solution yet for the Wizard !Ricardo and Buzz are working on the problem
Cheers

I know it works in accessing the ER, but after the deletions and a hard-reset, it does not save the new settings that were made to the ER.

My built-in program occupy 9.5MB but like you I can copy and/or delete all contents. Can also store data there but anything stored there is replaced by build in programs after soft reset.
I have discovered there seem to be 2 Extended Rom, one called "Extended_ROM", the other "Extended_ROM2". The first is accessible via Total Commander with no changes to registry. The second requires changes to registry. You can delete the build in files in each independently but they are back after soft reset. "Extended_ROM2" appears under "Settings | Memory" but "Extended_ROM" doesn't. Probably because of no registry changes. There must be yet another ROM partition where all the built in files are copy from during a soft reset. That's the ROM we need to get to.
So tell us...
how is this possible?
Anyone know?
I would like to change a t9 dll file in ext rom, so can anyone tell us how to do this ie. get at ext rom, not just the ext rom 2.
Please post solution :lol:

Registry Settings
Hello all,
I own a Jamin running the latest DOPOD image. I have tried to set my registry as per sas90850's suggestions.
Well, just after the soft reset the registry settings are reverting back to their original values ! :-|
Any clues on this ?
Thanks

Nothing interesting inside ext. rom !
I had a look into the Extended_ROM with Total Commander, but there is nothing to use inside or it is hidden. I`ve seen the following :
...
- Config.txt with 162 bytes
- MP_CVSDcpl_20060920.cab with 95.2 kbytes
- PP_DefaultPage_WWE.cab with 61.7 kbytes
- PP_ExtVer.xml with 292 bytes
...
Rom Version is : 1.8.407.1 GERMAN

What I actually did was changing some values in registry using Resco Explorer:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
Set "Bootphase"=dword:00000002
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
Set "MountHidden"=dword:00000000
Wait for 4-5 seconds for settings to take effect and soft reset your device.
Nothing interesting was actually in the ExtRom thow:
MP_CVSDcpl_20060920.cab
PP_DefaultPage_WWE.CAB
ST_re_v2.CAB
ST_STK_UIPPC_v4.31.CAB
Hi, ive been trying to customise my extended ROM using the guides layed out in this forum however, most of the files i need to do this i cannot download as for some reason any .zip or .rar files over 15Mb's or so end up corrupt but anyway.
I found a guide on how to bypass the extended ROM (hard reset device, soft reset before the Extended ROM begins to install) then install the various cab files manually using Total Commander from here: http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab
however, when i do the above and then run total commander i am unable to locate the "\Extended_ROM\" directory with the cab files. Any suggestions? im running a:-
qtek2020i on vodafone
ROM Version: 1.11.00 WWE
ROM date: 01/27/05
Radio version: 1.03.00
Protocol Version: 1337.42
ExtROM version: 1.11.142 WWE (obviously this part doesnt appear at the moment =]
Probably a silly questions and i have tried searching for the info to no avail.
cheers
EDIT. i also do not have "hide files in ROM" selected
Any ideas anyone i have followed every directive there is and i cannot get the extended rom to appear, why?
if i run total commander and type in \\EXTENDED_ROM or even \EXTENDED_ROM (even written it as Extended_ROM; extended_rom etc) yet nothing appears.
I tested it for other folders ie storage and once "storage" had been typed into the address bar it takes me to that directory. so would that then suggest my extended rom is else where? i have searched for files over 60kb's, files with .cab extensions, "hidden" and "unhidden" ROM files and im lost. Sorry folks but its not a matter of being lazy or being retarded and it had an extended rom in the first place so wtf is going on?

To view the Extended ROM, just install TOTAL COMMANDER for PPC
Then in the address bar, put : "\\EXTENDED_ROM" (without the quotes)
Then you will see the contents of extended ROM.
If you want, you can copy the contents of the Extended to your SD card instead so you don't have to connect to your PC.
To unlock your extended ROM (to change/delete/edit the stuff there) you need a certain file which is in the FTP under Uploads/Universal/Tools or something to that effect.
