Is there any way to remove, or lighten, the lines on the today screen? They look ugly with a background picture on!
Know what you mean.... Allmost every theme i like seems to have the lines in a contrasting color.
I edit almost every theme i download, but never get full rid of the lines.
Really, what whe need imho is a GOOD/GREAT themecreator that overcomes some 'faults' in the standars one(s ?)...
- No lines between items
- Keep xx lines/pixes free on top/bottom
- Vertical Item Alignment ! (more space between items)
- Marges on leftside/rightside (looks alot better than broke
n sentences at the and of the screen
- Option to make Full Screen Themes ( i keep getting a grey bar at the bottom when using ToggleNew.exe )
what themes do you download? what program are you using?

It is color 6 in hklm\Software\Microsoft\color.
I use UKTskColor to change my colors

theoretically, 00 00 00 FF or 00 00 00 00, depending on the alpha being 0.0 .. 1.0 or 1.0 .. 0.0. But no, it won't work.
All the other things you mentioned are also far beyond the scope of a theme. Themes merely allow you to change colors and background pictures in Windows Mobile - anything beyond that is the place of skinning applications, including applications that completely take over the Today screen. I think you're looking for the latter - there's several of those, where you can still use original Today Screen items/plugins within them as well.. just have a browse around

It was a problem with the keyb. tingy, solved with a newerversion indeed. The fat grey line was because of themes nog haveing a fullscreen image.
Solved it now too !

I've knocked together a small program further to ZeBoxx's request.
It's used to set the colour of the soft keys etc, by command line/shortcuts/launchers.
eg VJBaseHue.exe 187
will give you a nice purple colour

I am currently testing code by code...I've tried to key in 3 different conbination code...doesn't seem to work though... now am testing the color coding.
Zack, I don't understand. You mean you're trying to find the right hue code by code? The colour wheel on my website might help you, or basically load up any art program, screengrab your theme, and use the colour picker to find the colour your want. Even the standard Windows Colour Picker in MSPaint will show the hue you need.
Post some screenshots in your VGA themes thread if you have any luck :wink:

I was looking at VJBaseHue trying to figure out how to get the two bars 100% black (still no luck) when I found something else. Modifying the SHColor value has an effect on the tray above the soft keys. Normally it is an ugly line across the today screen that forces up the scroll bar at the same time, the icons like wirelles use the space. After randomly modifying SHColor the line dissapeared and so did the scroll bar. Also the icons moved down and to the right to be in the corner taking up less space. It seems strange that a colour setting can change the whole layout of the today screen, do yo know the reason for this VJ?
I don't know offhand Odeean, I imagine it might be some kinda buffer overflow etc..
Let me know what values you use, and if I ever get the WinMob source in my hands, I'll have a look!

Don't worry, I can't copy/paste from my reg editors and the value is too long to be bothered reading and typing I also have not been able to repeat what happened, I only now seem to be able to make it do the opposite. When I have no tray, modifing it brings it back.
I'm using Magic Button and it's realy great! There is just one thing I don't realy like about the programma and that's that it uses the "selection color" of the current theme as background color. It seems to me that way anyway.
Does anybody know how to adjust this?

I did contact the programmer so if he/she helpes me out I will let you people know!
I don't really have an answer and haven't seen what the result will be with other programs, but I found a set of tweaks at vicsoft (http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/uitweaker.shtml). UITweaker Suite. Loading the system changer, you can then change the System bar active and sytem bar inactive colors. They will still have a slight fade, which you can see in the second image, but it's better than being bright blue, grey or red! Hope this helps. I just found this ap today, and haven't used it to finish modifiying the theme and the colors, but this is the closest I've gotten.
Thats why I remove MagicButton and install Vieka vBar.

Sounds like we have all been bouncing back and forth between vbar and magic button for hte same reasons! :mrgreen:
I also managed to edit some bmps for use with vbar that allowed them to match my screen. I never got the size exactly right, as the button seemed to overlap the faded bar between the top bar and the today screen. But it is possible to do.
There are things i like about both aps. I like seeing the icons across the top in MB, but sometimes I like the list in Vbar. I guess there is still room for the perfect ap!
I'm currently using vBar with a black BMP at the background... ..the best solution so far.. ..still not perfect though

I'm using pBar now. No problems so far and it's also freeware!

Here you can set the color for the taskbar
This is the key that will change that color

for black 00 00 00 00 but it will be slightly gray for some reason.

For some reason when Magic Button was written, they didn't u se transparent backgrouns behind the icons. Now this might've been a limitation to the system... But either way, TranaCreative software appears to have gone stale as it hasn't been updated in over a year. With out the source code for it, we're sort of up the perverbial brown creek.
This is a shame because Magic Button is the best at what it does and no other app comes close to matching or beating it's features.
The problem is, that Magic Button can´t show a black taskbar-backround. Diamond & Touch HD has a plain black taskbar under WM6 without 3d-effect, but Magic Button makes the backround of the icons and the closing-button grey with 3d-effect!
Is there a way with the registry to tell Magic Button making a BLACK backgroud?

The only differance between this and the one already found in the othere LG today plug thread is dciNoBar.exe so no need to register to get what you already get strait of this side
and no need to make a new thread for things that you could have added to the other thread

what is the use of spacer 2 here?
It works great, the only real point of it is it removes the bottom bar of windows mobile (aka the soft keys) when you are on the main screen. The file is safe as it is really the same files we already have here, just packaged together for ease of use.
The spacer program is actually a quick fix for making the buttons show up on the bottom. I did notice a good value on it was 69 when using only the htc home plugin and the buttons, with the bottom bar enabled. and 94 with only the 2 plugins and the bottom taskbar disabled.

I figured I would give this a shot on a clean install of DCD's 1.6.7 ROM. Memory usage dropped from 27.52 free to 19.xx after installing this today plugin. It looks perty and works as described but that's just too much memory for me to sacrifice.

The latest version seemed a little unstable. My phone restarted itself once I had installed it. I think that if this modification was stable and the slider button was at the left like in landscape mode I would consider using it.

The antenna icons' entries are 30-33.
And they do have 5 bars but only 4( ~ 3 & 2/3 ) bars are visible.
So you have tried changing those icons and it is not working for you
or
did you stop at the point of examining the shellres.xxx.dll?
If it's the 1st case then
does any of the available TaskBar and Bottom Bar Mods work for you?
If it's the 2nd case then
like you changed the start menu icon do for those too and I'm sure you shall "see" that the guys are not blind
