Call me a neat freak but i want my os to match the maker (o2).
put simply - i need the latest 02 operating sys.
this is the current ship file iv put on o2asia_11100_922_11100_ship. (the only reason i found this was because it said 'o2asia' in the file name)
Please direct me if there is anyer virsion.
thanks and i hope iv made sense in what i just said

The whole ROM consists of 3 parts. The OS, Radio, and Extended ROM. The OS and Radio ROMs are generic and what makes a unit unique is the customizations within the Extended ROM.
If you perform the BigStorage hack, you can install ROM 1.13 which includes Radio 1.12 (there's a stand-alone Radio 1.13 though), then install only the Extended ROM customizations you feel is usefull for you.
I suggest you check-out also the File System Tweak by "nonentity".
Before you proceed, please go through this forum as there's tons of usefull information which includes Registry Tweaks, UI enhancements, recommended software, etc.
Cheers and all the best with your new gadget.

If you are looking for O2Asia u can try http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=253542#253542
Eastmushu did up load to xda ftp

v1.2 ROM - at Jeffs Kitchen?

Discovered this Forum while looking for others who were having problems with reliability of the recent O2 ROM upgrade. I've had to hard reset three times!).
Read with huge interest about the ROM Kitchen - and throwing caution to the wind, cooked a ROM in Jeff's Kitchen (a million thanks to him for opening the kitchen).
I have the following questions (which I pray are not stupid)
I find the resulting ROM seems to be stable (so far) but am not clear about:
1. There is a reference on the site to a new ROM version 1.2. I could not find a reference to this in Jeff's Kitchen. The version I 'cooked' was called Version 3.17.03 English (XDA Dev Auto Config).
2. There is an option to select the GSM frequency. Has this turned by XDA into a Tri-Band?
Also, V1.2 is supposed to remove the tedious cut & paste tutorial. My cooked ROM still asked for this. Did I cook the wrong ROM or is 1.2 not yet available in Jeff's Kitchen.
I am one of the non-techies and I hope these questions are not infuriating the techies.
ROM version 1.2 was produced by XDA Developers and is still available from this site. i think i am right in saying that you could install 1.2 over 3.17.03, more information is certainly available on this forum.
The GSM frequency swith is for US/Europe, i believe
version 1.2 does get rid of the tutorial
Hi. Since I don't have access to a Unix machine I use Jeff's Kitchen and that is where I am not sure if the new v1.2 ROM is available. Seems not to be.

ROM difference?

Hi! im new to this and I havn't tried to upgrade any ROM for my atom except for the ROM in the o2 website which is the 20060426B1WWE. I have read in the forums that there are a lot of ROM's available for upgrade and as far as I got it right, the AKU 3.3.3 is the final ROM and is stable for the WM5 platform? (kindly correct me if im wrong.) I want to know what is the difference between the AKU 3.3.3 and 20060426B1WWE ROM. Hows is the upgrade process? is it the same? I just download the ROM, run the .EXE file and wait till the upgrade is finished? Would love to know your inputs. tnx!
ROM for Atom is like OS for PCs. ROM comes in different features, different patches and different applications. The latest ROM from O2 is like a standard upgrade only. And it has been a long time since O2 released an upgrade to their ROM. Here in the forums, there is a lot of versions of ROM that you can use. But it is advisable to back up all your files first, including contacts, messages, notes, tasks, calendar notes / reminders and the likes 'coz once you upgrade your ROM all informations will be wiped out. The latest ROM that is available here is Sir Jiggs' WM6 AKU0.7.0 WWE. I myself use that ROM also and I'm very satisfied with it. (Thanks Sir Jiggs for the wonderful ROM! ). Though its an evaluation version, it works perfect on my Atom. If in any case, you didn't like the ROM after you upgraded it, you don't need to worry also because you can still go back to your previous ROM. Try reading other threads also to get an idea regarding the different ROMs. Gud luck!

Original 612c 6.0CHT ROM with 1.00.04/0.81

Does anyone have the above?
I have stayed with the original HP ROM (6.0 CHT/1.00.04/0.81) until recently, thinking I could update just the radio to 0.89. This was a disaster, as the RUU also updated the eboot to 1.01.04, which does not appear compatible with the 6.0 CHT ROM (keeps asking to restart the PPC after startup). Ended up flashing the 612c with 6.0 WWE/1.01.04/0.88 which works, but Chinese has to be an add-on. Interesting Asset Viewer still says my machine is CHT despite the WWE ROM.
I know there are many 6.1 and 6.5 ROMs that should work, but I would like to stick with an official package if possible, as I am not that tech savvy to be sorting out potential incompatibility that I may run into with beta ROMs.
Scouring the net I could locate a copy of 6.0CHT but not 1.00.04/0.81. As I said earlier, the 6.0CHT would not work with the 1.01.04 already on my 612c.
I did ask HP if they would provide the CHT ROM but the answer was essentially a "no", said in a "polite" way.
Any help will be most appreciated.
radio firmware is separate from rom and i don't think you can flash back to original radio
you can try search around pdaclan i think there are people able to flash back to 0.88 which may be compatible to original CHT, but i think flashing radio is dangerous as any error may brick the radio part
Thanks keyx.
Did a search on pdaclan and found quite a few people wanting to do the same thing and/or having the same problem! Unfortunately no one seems to have the old radio fw or eboot. One suggested to "format the IPAQ file store" - he didn't explain how that could be done though...

ROM, Radio, HSPL ??? what does it all mean ?

Sorry really to be a pain here, but if someone does not mind, can they explain to me ROM, Radio and HSPL? I think i know that ROM is the software running on your phone. but it that version number increased everytime someone make a custom ROM out from an official one?
Radio as far as i know is for wifi, radio, etc. is this correct ? And final we have HSPL, now what do need that for, and for what use it is?
I am ofcourse asking these questions because i started to look at all the nice ROM's out there and not sure if i should stick to what im doing and keep going for the higher numbers. Would be very happy if someone could quickly explain them all properly and then maybe guide me to other links where i can read more...
Thank you in advance...
SPL - Secondary Program Loader - Think of it as the BIOS of your phone. It starts the operating system loading, and when you flash it verifies cid and region locks.
HSPL - Hard Secondary Program Loader - This is the creation of Bepe and Cotulla and Co. and is a hacked version of the official SPL that bypasses the checks when you flash a rom. It requires SPL 1.42.0000 on your phone to use.
This is the only version that works for telstra phones.
HSPL2 - is an upgrade to HSPL that allows witching between most of the available SPL's, and also their HSPL equivalents. (So if you want to install cooked roms, you might choose 2.08.HSPL, whilst if you want to go back to official, you would choose 1.42.0000 in the HSPL2 dropdown)
HSPL1024 - Is HSPL specific to the tmous hd2.
hardware ROM - The Read Only Memory of the phone. Think of it as the hard disk in your device. This is your storage memory.
'the' rom - When we talk about flashing roms, we mean the file that installs the whole operating system on your phone. This file is 'flashed' to the rom storage space, where it installs itself. After it finishes configuring itself, whatever is left is your available storage memory. (usually around 180 meg on a standard hd2)
Official ROMS have version numbers such as 1.66 , 1.72. 2.10.
Version numbers of cooked roms are meaningless. They only apply to that chefs roms. He/She applies versions as they see fit, however you can get a fair bit of info from the ro mthread title.
Example, they will usually tell you the base of the rom, i.e what stock rom was used as a base, 1.66, or 2.10 for example, and also the windows build version, (the 5 digit 21xxx number, i dont know whats what with those, but the higher ones are winmo 6.5.x) and more as you get used to reading them.
radio hardware - The different models have different actual hardware that connects to the mobile network. That is why you cant get 3g on at&t with a T Mo USA hd2. No matter what software radio you flash, the hardware is wrong.
radio rom - The radio software sits between windows mobile and the hardware. It controls the hardware based on what you want to do. There are all kinds of reports of better/worse battery life, connection strength, sound quality results when flashing digfferent radios.
flashing a radio does NOT require a hard reset, so wont affect your install.
Some roms (example the 576 meg enabled roms) require specific radios, read the rom posts for info.
The big danger with radio flashing is only applicable to tmous users, , if they flash a radio with ..51.. in the version number, their phone dies.
A useful read. I hope you got a thank you...
heh, well i got one now, cheers,
Dear Samsamuel !
Tx a lot ! Although I study this forum now since I am a HD2 owner (who never flashed a cooked ROM) I start to understand these cryptic topic now by Your explanations, making me more brave to try it once. Tx
The only thing I still can´t figure out is: WTF are the REAL differences of the stock-ROMS eg. what EXACTLY is changed between ROM 1.43 WWE, 1.48 WWE, 1.66 WWE, 1.72 (no WWE methinks).
I got so far to understand that some ROM-upgrades are just earlier ROMs with all the following patches included, but some are a major switch from WM 6.5 to 6.5.x and Sense 2.5.19xxxx to 2xxxx, giving new features like rotation in all Sense-Screens.
Plz, get me right, I spend all bad-weather-weekends hours and hours reading in the ROM-cooker-section, read XDA on my HD at airports and train stations but the shere mass of info provided - a little bit here, an info there - prevents me to get the WHOLE picture. There is a thread about which ROMs are officially out till now but with NO Info about the differences between them and which is a major UPGRADE (WM 6.5 to 6.5.x, Sense 1xxx to 2xxxx) and which is simply a better working "older" ROM.
I got my HD 2 now by the help of the geniousses here (You, Cookie, netripper, Moonah, netdrg, BsB, TX, metaldetector-lady and, and, and -and SKTools ) to work perfectly, smooth and without any fault but still would like some features like full rotational capab of Sense, which is provided by later ROMS. BUT WHICH ROM IS THIS ?
Maybe someone could add some infos ´bout that as a sticky thread ?? to decide wether to flash or not to flash when a new official ROM is issued by HTC, cause every ROM upgrade causes a hell of a work to make the HD2 work as smooth and flawless as before (I have now about 50 apps installed and configured to my needs).
Tx for Your understanding

[Q] qtek s110 - help with changing rom

Hello ! I need your help with changing rom in my qtek s110. I bought that device two days ago, it have french rom and I want to change it for english one. I want to ask you with what should I start ? It will be the very first rom change, so I don't know if I should do something before running instalation of the new rom, or just start it without checking anything or instaling other programs before the rom ? Thank you for all answers !
If you want a stock rom, get one here (USA or WWE = english):
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=windows mobile&model=Magician
Extract the *.exe with Winrar and replace the Romupgrade.exe with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe, execute it, and follow the instructions.
Or get one of Cotullas ROMs (Follow the instruchtions mentioned in the thread). It's a little bit buggy and the camera may not work (depends on version you chose) but it's WM6/6.5
Personally I believe that you should start with Cotulla's WWE 03. That will give you a stable WM6.1 and the instructions are in the post, and also cotulla's homepage.
It also has camera if you needed it for anything. From there you can decide whether you want to goto newer versions or if you are happy with 03.
