On my Dell X30, i can have one of the buttons set to disable/enable WLAN. That means - when i press the button, the WLAN goes directly on/off depending on status.
When i press the "network" button on the Wizard, it displays the stupid com manager instead.
Since i use this button 99% of the time only to turn on/off WLAN, i would want it to do that directly, without showing the com manager and need me to tap on WLAN icon.
HAve anyone made a small exe for enable/disable WLAN, that can be mapped to a button?
Thanks...
Check your extended rom for cabs called WLANon.exe or something.
I don't think they work, but I guess they're there for a reason.
I've got a nearly working solution in VJVolubilis (that I've been too busy to fix).
S-K-Tools Schema (?) software may do this also.

I can't find the the file you mentioned...

A question for someone more technical than I:-
I've just installed the very useful Hitchhiker. What I want to do is remap the Comm Manager button above the volume slider so that, when I press it, instead of launching Comm Manager, it switches on Wi-Fi and launches Hitchhiker.
Does anybody have a tweak for this? Preferably a cab as reg fiddling is beyond me.
Thanks.
It will be easy to set button 5 to hitchhiker, just go to settings\buttons and it allows you to change button assignments there. To have wifi come on at the same time one possible way is to have button 4 do it - click wifi on, click (hold) hitchhiker on.
Use vjvolubilis to get one click wifi on see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46947
hope that helps
Hmm... I might try "click button 4 for wi-fi, then hold button 5 for hitchhiker" for a bit and see how it goes.
Thanks.
Remap Hold Button 5?
Are you able to change the hold funciton on Button #5, the Comm Manager button? I saw that you were talking about doing that, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do this.
I tried adding another folder in the Registry that related to the Hold function to 5 but I'm not sure if I set it up correctly b/c it's not working--it still only has the switch between virbate and normal modes of sound.
Thanks for your help.
Hi all,
I use the BT A2DP profile to stream music through the media player and one of the 'features' that differs from the K-JAM (wizard) and is lacking in the TyTN is the ability to continue that stream even when the device is 'off' (useful for saving battery, switching off the buttons, etc.). With the TyTN whenever the device is turned off the stream also ceases. Does anybody know if there is someway of ensuring that the media player is not switched off along with the device (I'm guessing a registry setting or similar).
All help very welcome.
Cheers
I was wondering this also. My wizard was able to be "off" and still stream. ANyone got any brigjt ideas?

Have you tried just turning the screen off? PocketPlus has a utility called "Screen Toggle," which does just that.
When used in conjunction with the Button Lock (leaving only the power button active), you just might be able to solve your issue...

Yeah...what he said!
That what I do.
I really miss this feature to.
So there is no way to do it on the Hermes?
Its not particulary elegent to have to perform multiple steps to turn the screen off. it was much eaiser just to hit the off button and listen away...
I'm using VjDeviceLock wich is what you want, I think.
After you've installed it you should create a new shortcut in c:/windows/startmenu/programs/vijay555/vjdevicelock. You can copy an exiting one in this directory and edit the parameter. What you want is "-displayoff". I bound this to my Videocall-Button, cause I don't use video telephony.
If I listen to music I just have to press my Videocall-Button and VjDeviceLock turns off my screen and locks all Buttons except the power on/off one.
Also VjDeviceLock is just great to save money
If you get a sms or a call the device turns on itself. I once didn't notice this and called a random person out of my adressbook, because I had my trion in my pocket and were moving all the evening and somehow started a call.
This cannot happen again, because I started vjdevicelock with parameter "-install". Now everytime my trion turns on itself it gets automatically (re)locked.
thats a fantastic solution and it works really well!
what program are you using to remap the buttons?
Hi,
Does anyone else suffers strange key problems when using VJdevicelock;
After using -displayoff or -displaytoggle and resume back to normal, phone buttons (call/disconnect,videotalk) doesnt work anymore, it need to be softreseted before the buttos work again?
-Kha
EDIT:
just found out that when resuming from -displayoff, after pressing windows and ok softkeys, dialbuttos work again!
I'd appreciate if somebody here could advice me on how to map VjDeviceLock to VideoCall button on my TyTN (I have original TyTN ROM and the VideoCall key is functional ). I couldn't remap it using Buttons configuration utility in Settings.
as I said you have to create a Shortcut in your Startmenu. Shortcuts in Startmenu are shown as available possibilities in Start - Settings - Buttons (Perhaps it's called a bit different. I'm using a german version where it's called 'Tasten')
This is how I remapped it. I don't use a special program.
I use the device lock on today plugins.

This does not turn off your screen AND your device is sometimes getting unlocked when you receive calls or sms.

Thank you very much for your instant response. I did all you mentioned in your message and I remapped the VideoCall button (is it the Button between Buttons 4 and 5 ? ) but pressing it still doesn't activate VJDevice. Any other suggestions?
Is the device locked when you click on the shortcut?
If not: edit an existing shortcut, let's say "VJDeviceLock About.lnk". Make it point to: \Programms\vjay555\VJDeviceLock\VJDeviceLock.exe" -displayoff
It is right that there is only one "
When I open my shortcut in a text editor the content is:
Code:
64#"\Programme\vijay555\VJDeviceLock\VJDeviceLock.exe" -displayoff"
Yes. The device locks when I click on the shortcut itself but when I press VideoCall button, to which I had previously mapped the link, the Dialpad pops up.

How can you do this? Are you using a third party app? I see no way to bind anything other than 5 buttons on my device...
I bound it to "Button 5".
Is there a way I can enable/disable bluetooth through one of the hard buttons on the mogul. The messaging or the windows botton for instance. I just hate to go to the comm manager everytime I want to enable/disable the bluetooth. I don't also want to drain my battery by leaving it on all the time.
This won't do it via a button, but PhoneAlarm can do it based on profile and some PA skins also have a soft button on the screen.
AEButton Plus works very well for that too. Very handy lil prog!
There are lots of tiny little bluetooth toggle exe's out there you can find via google. I got one of those and then mapped my PIE hard button's press and hold feature to execute it, works great. Did the same with a vibrate toggle exe program on the messaging hard button.

Can u plz let me know what's the name of the one u got, and do i go about setting it up. does it come with instructions on how to map the hard bottons? I appreciate the help.
AEbutton is nice, but is always running in the background. Vijay has created a small utility called VJvolubilis that can control BT (and radio as well). Download his app (http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis), and copy the shortcut he's already created for you inot your \windows\start menu folder, then go to Settings > Personal > buttons to assign a button to this shortcut--bam!
Is there any way of programming the "on" button on the top of the device not to switch the device on until it has been pressed for a long time (in a similar fashion to how you would shut the device down)??? It's really annoying how easily this phone is turned on when inside one's pocket or bag!
HW Key Remapping on Topaz
You may try to use the attached tool.
It allows (on Topaz only) to remap any key ans assign different actions to single-click, double-click and long-press.
Basically it works also for Power key, but there may be some limitation for assigning other actions to it; but I'm absolutely sure you may disable that key.
Anyway try it. It's a nice tool.
Requirements:
- .NET CF 2.0
- compatible with both WM 6.1 and 6.5
Installation:
- Install SdkCerts.cab (also attached)
- Install TopazKbdControl_GSM.CAB
- Soft-reset
After that you can run the tool. It should be placed under system settings.
Good luck!
Thanks, orik13. I'll try and then let you know what happened.
is there any feedback on this app? does it work for the purposes ScrumMachine wanted it for?
As far as I can see, this only remaps button/screen presses when the system is ON, not when the system is off.
The standard operation of the TD2 power button is REALLY annoying. Is there another way to stop this button from switch the phone on when you just touch it, but rather need to press is for a long time?
No one here had mentioned about the Imagio not having a soft reset button (besides taking out the battery cover and hit the hardware button).. so i installed the Smart Untilities Cab from the Ultimate launch website.. and it gave me 4 useful links in my start menu..
Bluetooth on/off
wifi on/off
suspend
reset
The Reset fucntion worked flawlessly... but i cant get the buletooth on.off and wifi on/off to work..
any one wanna take a poke at it and see if they can get it to work?
here's the cab
Why put that in the start menu?
Everything works on my Imagio but I find slide2shutdown quicker and less clunky, and Everything this program offers minus the reset is on comm manager. It offers "slide to turn off," "slide to reset," and "slide to sleep." I have slide2shutdown mapped to my long press on the end key, and if you have wifi router you might want to install this comm manager. Just my opinion take it or leave it.
Hey.. Thanks for for your sugestions.. but I like smart utility because it places these short cuts into my start menu.. which is easier to access and activate when I need it.
I guess I'll just have to wait unitl Ultimate Launch comes out with an updated cab for this software..
i would really like a working bt toggle.
