How set manual IP address for device in WiFi settings - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

My router at home does not use DHCP and each computer that connects to it has to have a manuall assigned IP address, i.e. 192.168.1.N
I can't find any documentation in the forum or elsewhere about how to specify this on the T-mo MDA or K-Jam.
Any Gurus out there with the missing piece of the puzzle?

Well - I don't have a wizard and you don't say what OS you're using ... so here's how I do it with my Himalaya:
Start
Settings
Connections
Connections
Advanced
Network Card
You should see a list of network adapators. Select the appropriate one ... in my case it's WLAN ADAPTER. This should bring up the settings dialogue for the card

pretty close on wizard too: start > settings > connections > Network Cards > SDIO WLAN Wireless Adapter

Wifi Connection, User-defined IP where?!

Hi all,
I live in a property next door to the company i work for, and the network is linked into the apartment. I have a Wireless Network Access Point in my apartment.
The thing is....DHCP is deactivated on the whole network, and everything runs through proxy servers.
To do this, I need to choose the option that my wireless access point (called scanthor) is used to connect to Work right?
Also, I have gone into settings, connections and modified the proxy to be correct. However, where can I set a valid IP address for the connection??
I'm guessing in Network Adaptors setting right? But which one is the wifi card, there seems to be about 5or 6 in there!
Hope someone can help, thanks in advance!!

p.s. Using O2 XDAIIi
Try | Start (menu) | Settings | Connections (tab) | Network Cards (icon) | Network Adapters (tab) | tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Etherne... | Then check Use specific IP address. You'll need to set values for IP Address, Subnet mask, (most likely 255.255.255.0) and Default gateway. Also be sure to tap Named Servers, and fill in the info there, you'll need a DNS address to access the Internet.
Still not working..... I've set my IP address under tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Ethernet Adaptor. Also put in gateways, dns server etc as taken from ipconfig on my desktop work computer.
Then, i have set the wireless network to connect to "Work" and in Network Adaptors, under the box ..my adaptor connects me to...work is selected there also.
Finally, under connections and "My Work Network" I have put the proxy settings in correctly (just Http and socks)
No luck though. Sometimes it works but unbelievably slowly, sometimes nothing...very annoying.
The proxy server is AVM Ken! www.avm.de
Is this the problem?

where to find the MAC of jasjar

I cannot find my MAC address to add the Jasjar to my MAC adddress filtering on my home netwaork. Any ideas?
Settings > Connections > Wireless LAN
It's listed on there, n.b. you need to have WLAN switched on, else nothing appears.
Or take out your battery and check under it.

Use wifi if available, otherwise use 3G/GPRS?

One thing i'm totally confused and lost about, with my new Vario II, is its apparent inability to use the wifi preferentially to access the internet.
T-mobile havent been able to help so far but I will keep leaning on them. The basic question I have is that:
When connected to wifi, I know I can get access to the internet because my laptop is doing it right now. If the wifi is connected (and it works because im transferring files across file sharing), why does the GPRS dial when I fire up an internet app like ie/msn messenger?
What do I need to do to this phone to make it prefer wifi over 3g/gprs?
Also, is it just my device, or is wifi on all these dog slow? It took nearly 1.5 minutes to copy a 4 meg mp3! ~384kbps?!
Start > Settings > Network Cards > Network Adapters (Tab) > "My network card connects to:" The Inernet
That should solve your problem. To a point, anyway. For som reason, Push mail is still GPRS only.
My TyTN uses WiFi when available otherwise it automatically choses HSDPA/EDGE/GPRS to get connected to Internet. To achieve it I set my system in the following way:
Start > Settings > Network Cards > Network Adapters (Tab) > "My network card connects to:" The Inernet (as rassah stated above)
Configure your GPRS connection as My Work Network.
Under Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select_Networks (Network Management tab) set both drop-down
1. "Program that automatically connect to the Internet shoud connect using" -> My Work Network
2. "Program that automatically connect to the Private Network shoud connect using " to My Work Network -> My Work Network
Ahhhh.. I've eventually solved this, I think. Even with what was suggested here, I had difficulty and the phone would not dial gprs -> it just said "cannot connect with your current settings"
It was the last line of what JohnieWalker said that got me thinking - there is a slight typo on the line but other than that, his advice led me to the solution.
For other people experiencing this difficulty, I offer the following advice:
Click Start, Settings, Connections tab. All the applets you need to use are on this screen
Use the Network Cards applet, Network Adapters tab, highlight the wireless card and tell the phone it connects to Work
-- This apparently does something different to choosing "The Internet" in that it allows file sharing etc. The word Work in this context is completely unrelated to the default connection called "My Work Connection"
Use the Wireless LAN applet to connect to your wifi network
In the Connections applet, Advanced tab, press Select Networks
Set both dropdowns to "My Work Connection"
On the tasks Tab, the display has changed to "My Work Connection" -> Choose Manage Existing Connections and add a New one via the button
Enter the details to dial your gprs. These are all over the web
You end up with a connection that is set up identically to the default T-Mobile Internet one (in my case) - for some reason the default one always dials the GPRS whether the wifi is on or not. This one I just added behaves as i expect - if the wifi is on, it uses it, if not, it dials.. Weird!

Per network settings

Ok, if you need to connect to a WiFi network with no DHCP service where you are allowed to choose an IP (like your own home network where you want a specific IP), you have to go:
Settings > Connections > WiFi > Wireless Networks > Network Adapters > IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter and there change to Use specific IP address and the like.
But the changes you make there, are valid for all your WiFi connections (since they are network adapter related). If you later need to connect to a public WiFi where you can only get an IP through DHCP, you have to go back and change the setting all over again.
Is there any way/software that can keep these settings per network? Eg. if the network's name is Freenet then use DHCP, if the network's name is Home then use specific IP, DNS, etc.

Edit WiFi's ip settings

Hello,
I would like to connect my HD2 to my home WiFi network. The network requires statis ip from each device.
Is there any way to set ip + dns for wireless card in my hd?
This option is not available in HTC's settings. Usually it was simple Start > Settings > Connections and then you were able to pick proper card and do all the tricks.
Thanks in advance for your help.
