Hi All,
I am sharing my experience in rooting, unlocking Bootloader and installing CUSTOM ROM.. (This is the simplest, easiest and safest way Which I found)
I am a newbie here and was looking for rooting, unlocking bootloader and custom ROMs.
I have done rooting but scared to unlock the bootloader due to bricking the phone.
Now I have found a damn simple easy way to root, unlock bootloader and install custom ROM here.
Step by step Procedure:
1. Take a backup of your current ROM i.e, make backup of your contacts, SMS and other important items. (Search in Google Play store for free applications)
(If you have rooted, use Titanium backup to backup everything from your ROM)
2. Download and Install FLASHTOOL in your computer.
Download FLASHTOOL from this Link: http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
3. Start the Flashtool and connect your X10.
X10 will be recognized by the Flashtool if all the drivers installed properly in the computer. (any problem, follow this tread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343 )
ROOT
4. Root your phone using the Flashtool (Just one click only)
Follow the instructions in the flastool if any)
5. Now you have rooted your phone. Hooorey.. One step completed....
Now you can boot your X10 and Install Titanium Backup and make a backup if you are having any backup)
Installing Recovery
6. Now you can Install recovery (Xrecovery/CWM). Again One Click only.
Unlock Bootloader
7. Now click unlock X10 (just one Click).
The Flashtool will unlock your X10. Just follow the onscreen procedure) Just simply switch off your phone and connect it while pressing BACK button).
Thats All .... Now You have Unlocked your bootloader.
Installing CUSTOM ROM
8. Installing CUSTOM ROM.
Now download any good proven stable ROM. (save in the SDCARD)
Download the respective Kernel
Flash the kernal using flashtool (Simply copy the kernal file in the firware foler of Flashtool installation in your computer and press FLASH and choose your kernal).. Simple... right..
Now boot your phone in recovery (just keep pressing back button while booting).
Once you are in recovery, do the following: 1) wipe everything (you wont lose anything in the SDCARD) 2) install custom Zip and choose your Custom ROM file in the SDCARD 3) Install it 4) Install any additional add-on or wifi modules.
(Follow the the procedure from the ROM developer if anything different from above).
Now reboot your phone.
Hooorey ..... You have successfully finished everything.. Enjoy with your NEW CUSTOM ROM...Have FUN...
There is no way to Brick the Phone. Don't worry......Cool...
If you encountered any problem during the above, dont worry.... Just use Sony PC companion and do a software update (Repair Option).. It takes around 30min, your phone will be factory reset.

Step 1
Update your phone to the latest firmware i.e 4.16.401 through ota updates
Step 2
Unlock your bootloader. S-off is not required ..
Step 3
Install latest twrp and root your phone
Step 4
Take backup of your device if any thing goes wrong. But nothing wrong will happen
Step 5
Download any custom rom of your liking having the same base that is 4.16.401
Step 6
Install your rom and enjoy
Step 3 is not needed as all custom roms are "pre-rooted"
Not sure what you mean by demo model ? Can you elaborate on that ?
Every HTC phone that has a rom on it wheter it's a demo phone or not is by flashing a custom rom "converted"
And if the demo phone is a branded one s-off is needed to convert fully to the wwe *.**.401 firmware

Fairly new to this entire rooting process, but not new to computer tinkering. Just confused here.

I have reflashed like 5 times now because I keep running into an issue.
I successfully flash the rom included in the guide for CID11. Do all the steps to install NEW Safestrap. Then I reboot into Safestrap, however, I don't make it that far... It freezes on boot screen.
I once got into the SS screen and ended up flashing the kernel as recommended in step 15. But then I got the good ole "Safestrab is not enabled" or whatever on boot.
Do i even need to do step 15? What is the point of installing the kernel and safestrap again. All i want is root on lollipop. I could care about anything else.
If you're installing the LP ROM from that thread, you don't need step 15.
The first boot can take more than 10 min., so just be patient.

I have thought about moving out of LG K10 lately and I created this guide for people who want to sell their phones without a trace of Custom ROM installation.
The package below removes bootloader unlock and TWRP and replaces it with original stock Bootloader and recovery.
If you need VoLTE on MM, follow the guide I published for K420DS VoLTE before following the steps below.
[1] To Remove Root:
(1) Download the ZIP from here.
(2) Boot to TWRP and flash it.
[2] To Get Completely Back To Stock:
(1) Download the file from here.
(2) Boot to TWRP and flash it.

I am doing rooting with this page and on step16 after write comand i'm getting comunicate failed(remote:device is locked. Cannot flash images). What i must do to fix it?
