...works great on my wizard. it makes registry editing and other setup/maintenance functions easy and best of all it's free. it's a way to remote the display and keyboard/mouse/touch screen of device to a desktop.
after connecting device to desktop via activesync, run the attached .exe and install to device. it also loads the desktop host to pc and creates a pc startmenu folder.
to use it:
- connect device to pc via activesync
- launch remote display control from pc. you'll get a blank screen emulator

- launch remote display control from device.
- the device's running remote display program icon will reside in the today tray and the pc's remote display comes to life
- to disconnect, select the device client through the today tray and select "disconnect"
- then close the pc's remote desktop app and select "exit" on device

Is there a way to make the icons unde Start->Programs, Start->Settings etc., smaller and/or display in a list like in Windows on a PC ?
Maybe a 3rd party program or a setting on the device itself?
Thanks
Anyone ?
GSPocketMagic makes the start menu list all apps in cascading menus much like Windows XP does. If you have more apps listed than fit on the screen you have scoll through them and it's rather slow to get to those at the bottom if you have a long list. In landscape mode I've gotten pretty quick launching apps using the keyboard - Windows key - [P]rograms - then type the first letter of the program you want to laucnh and it takes you to the first program that starts with that letter, keep pressing that letter and it will cyle through all of them, hit enter and the program will launch.
I find this method to be much quicker than scrolling through a long list of programs.
Thanks, I'll check out GPSPocketMagic and try your system.
Is it the start menu, or the programs explorer you wanted small?
This is possible:

I have a Acer c530 Pocket Pc. Windows Mobile 5.
In the Windows Mobile's configuration, I have the WIRELESS MANAGER:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
In this configuration screen I have both bt and wifi adapters (I haven't phone capabilities like the screenshot), and I can make connected or disconnected this adapter from this configuration. My problem is that when I make a soft-reset, or there are a considerable time without pda activity (screen turn off and pda is in stand by), I lost the wifi adapter from this screen. The bluetooth persist (disconnected) but the wifi adapter is lost from the list.
To make visible the wifi adapter in this screen, I have to go to the wifi shortcut placed at Today's screen (bottom right) and enable from the contextual menu (enable/disable option).
Is possible that the wifi adapter will be visible (not connected, only visible) in the Wireless manager always?. Is not very usable for me enable this from Today screen, because I use third party softwares like pointui to use (I don't use Today Screen).
Please, help.
You can configure the hardward buttons to switch between point UI and today screen (select "today"in parameters of the buttons)
and thus use the shortcut, me i do like this

If this is for real........ great find. I'll definitly check it out.
This isn't new, but is a great find if you didn't know.
What I wanna know, is how to get this thing working with Vista. I keep getting an error installing it
You have to have Vista installed. I'm running XP, all my apps don't run on Vista.
Sorry....... or if you're running Media Center or Server you also could use it.
It reads the file info from windows media player ... I will test it on a vista home basic but im sure I can get it to run just to stream movies.
You need to be online for it to download the asp.net server though.
i thought this only works with windows media center edition or its vista counterpart.
I am having some issues getting Activesync to work on Vista Business 64-bit.
Basically when I plug my phone in via USB, I choose "ActiveSync" on the phone for the type of connection, then click Done.
On the computer I get a "Portable Device" in Windows Explorer and Windows Mobile Device Center does not load up automatically.

I then manually run "Windows Mobile Device Center" and instead I get "Connection Settings".
I have installed the v6.1 driver update located here.
What have I done wrong?
SOLVED!
It seems by default Windows Mobile Device Center is not enabled/installed. The "Connection Settings" window is what the default setup looks like.
The drvupdate file from Microsoft I mentioned in the first post is the connection needed to get the device center working properly.
Checking Event Viewer it seems that the drvupdate silently failed to install with error code: 1063. So I downloaded the latest ISScript installers from http://consumerdocs.installshield.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=Q108322. I installed v10, v10.5 and v11.
Next time I ran the drvupdate file it installed without error. I rebooted again and WMDC works fine
Use Your Old Android As A Secondary Monitor
You know that old HP touchpad was a great tablet but it's just been sitting around for years now. You can't bring yourself to throw it away but what on Earth could you use it for?
Hi, my name Steve Shockmonster and I'm here to tell you how you can turn any old Android tablet into a secondary screen for your computer. By installing an app on both your pc and Android device, you can activate an extended display setup. This will allow you to move your open windows to your tablet by dragging it off screen.There are many practical uses for this feature and almost anyone would be able to take advantage of this.
So what app do you need to get this working? Well I've put together a list that will get you all setup.
