Has anyone figured out how to do a WiFi synch with AS 4.X? I just read that Microsoft disabled the feature because of Enterprise security issues.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I have got a Htc Universal (Mda Pro) in Germany and tried to syncronisize the universal wih my active sync by w-lan but there is no possibility to connect like with my mda III and an older active sync!
Has anybody of you an idea how to connect???
Thank You
Unfortunately, MS removed wlan sync from ActiveSync 4.x -- you can still sync via USB or Bluetooth. There may be third-party wlan sync solutions, but you'll probably have to wait for them to catch up to WM5.

Why?
Can I use ActSync 3.8 with JasJar?
It's my understanding that WM5 requires ActiveSync 4.x. If that's the case, you can't use AS 3.8 with the JasJar unless you install WM2003 on it.

Does anyone know about the SyncML capabilities of the Wizard? I need to sync it using linux and multisync/kitchensync.
And hopefully, with its WLAN module, it wil finally be possible so sync a businessphone using linux without hours and hours of try and error.
If the manual is right, the Wizard supports only ActiveSync and has no SyncML implementation. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone who successfully syncronized his evolution/kontact application with ActiveSync of the wizard?
Hi there,
There's no SyncML functionality in activesync, It's Microsoft, they don't like openstandards.
You can use the synthesis syncml client (http://www.synthesis.ch/ )
and try it 30 days.
We use it to sync with Novell GroupWise, works very well!
Greetings,
Wouter
Thanks eendje. I searched for more applications like this and found http://www.sync4j.org/. Sounds like a GPL Version which works with Windows Mobile, too. Experiences are appreciated, but I think I will try it out and post mine. If it does not work, it will be an expensive tryout. :?

Hello Afroman.
Did you have any luck using sync4j. I have tried to use it but only get error (on my BA). I have used synthesis syncML (Pro editioN) and it works very well with mobical.net. Check it out.

Can someone please help to do over-the-air sync with Qtek 9100.
I have been trying for this a long time and never got it working.
Thank you,
Florian
Wi-Fi synching has been removed frm Activesynch 4.0 onwards by MS due to security concerns. That'll be why you can't get it to work.
If you want to synch using Bluetooth then search the forum as this has been discussed in length on several threads
Thank you for your prompt answer.
I was looking for internet sync thru Wifi or GPRS/Edge.
Is there another app out there that can do the job?

I believe some one has released a free patch to override the 'Wifi syncing in AS 4.0'. I don't have the file handy- but will try and post later if the original poster still wants it.
I've not tried it myself since I'm still using WM2003 and AS 3.8.
I would love the patch to enable WiFI active sync if someone could post it. cheers.

well, it seems to be a solution:
http://www.airscanner.com/downloads/airfix/airfix.html
didn't try it by myself, so - no idea if it's usable and functional. but - always one more option ;-)
cheers,
Radek
Yes, that's the same link that I got the patch from.
Maybe someone can try it out and post back results?
Actually, just read the text from the link and it quotes the following:
"Please note that AirFix is not designed to allow ActiveSync over a WiFi connection. Rather, it is a tool that allows you to enable the wireless network after you are already synced with the PC (e.g. with a USB ActiveSync connection)."
Perhaps not what people were looking for after all...
I am currently trying to set up the app.
Expect a post shortly.
Did not find a way to make it work.
Also their download page states :
Please note that AirFix is not designed to allow ActiveSync over a WiFi connection.
As I doubt they have a solution...
You can sync over the air via GPRS or WiFi to an Exchange Server without a problem, I do it everyday; to a PC I don't now if it's possible anymore.
The Airfix app is designed to prevent active sync closing your current wifi conex, nothing more. This will allow software developers to debug network code and allow you to keep a wireless connection whilest you sync. Most home users will use activesync passthrough from their pc->internet rather than wifi-> internet and so notice no difference
Hi,
I think I already know the answer to this question, as I couldn't find anything on this forum or on Google, but was just wondering if anyone had found a way to sync their Universal or other WM5 device with a Linux box? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Fin
I think that answers my question!
Try this, I use Windows- so I don't know if it's any good.
Thanks for the reply- will check it out!
Unfortunately, Synce doesn't seem to work with WM5
(well, it didn't last time I checked)

Yeah, sadly you're right, hopefully somebody will be working on it though! Thanks for the replies!
Synchronizing Linux works nicely now using synce with WM5.
But has anyone had any success using it with WM6? I get Activesync on the device *****ing about upgrading Activesync.
How to perform wifi sync on Wizard?
Sorry if this has been asked before.
I'm using ActiveSync 4.1.
Has anyone been successfull in something like this?
AirSync is only possible with AS3, the option is removed from AS4.
Molski.
Great I'll install AS3 then.
What is the procedure to do airsync then?
you can not make synchronization between your wizard or any WM05 Device with the pc using AS3
Really? Are you sure of that?
Why doesnt synchronization work with AS3?
So that leaves Wifi sync out of the question i suppose.
Too bad

Yes, we're quite sure. Microsoft made sure that WM5 devices cannot use any version of ActiveSync older than 4.0, and they removed the WiFi synch for security reasons. ActiveSync 4.x uses a network connection, and they didn't want that to be potentially hijackable.
