Can't anything just work without problems? - a2dp this time! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

hi,
after my wired headphones broke, i finally decided to update my wizard with the latest ROM with the a2dp profile to try out my i.tech clip s35 stereo bluetooth headset.
all i wished for was that it would work. it did, but not without the frustrating quirks.
i get good sound from the left speaker but only very faint (almost non-existent) sound from the right speaker, about 95% to 5% respectively.
does anyone know how i might solve this problem?
thanks,

Bluetooth audio playback

Hi all
Just got the I-mate and a bluetooth headset. It works fine as far as phone calls are concerned. But I cannot playback audio (MP3's..etc) through it! Any clue?
Another thing is that the foldable keyboard for the XDA doesn't work with it! Is there a new driver?
The Pin Assignment from MDA and MDA II ist a little bit
different. Perhaps thats the reason....
CU
I believe that the bluetooth headset profile only supports voice calls. It's not able to listen to other audio.
although this may be possible with a software upgrade as the ipaq 5550 works perfectly for audio output through a bluetooth headset
yeah, i read that too..there are two patches available for the Ipaq: A free patch, the installation of which did not go through, and a commercial one that I purchased, and this disabled all audio output from the XDA-II!
I am sure there is a solution, just hope we woun't have to wait for long.
As for sound quality, I've read that it is a bit poor, but I still wouldn't mind!
Waiting for a genius
Any solution to this problem yet? I really want to play audio (in that case audio books from audible) via bluetooth.

I've got the jabra 200 BT earset. It has a small cradle for use with phones with no BT support. Now that has what seems to be the same speaker jack as the earphone with the XDA II. So if you have a jabra just pair the headset with the cradle and plug the cradle into your phone. Not perfect but would be interesting to see if it works.
Please note I've not tried this.
mmm.. sounds logic, i think it would work. I heard there will be a new ROM edition with audio playback over bluetooth. No idea as to when, though

KJam Microphone switches off when connected to car stereo

Hi,
I have connected my KJam to my car stereo via a cable from the 2.5mm jack to the aux port of my car stereo. Tom Tom voice and phone calls are routed through my car stereo. Sometimes, the microphone will not work when I take a call. I can hear the caller perfectly but they can't hear me. Other times, the phone functionality works perfectly and we can both hear each other great.
If anyone can suggest any ideas, I would be very grateful.
Thanks
if your using a jack to connect it to your car, then its will prob. stop the mic working as its routing the audio to you car in the same way the headset with mic that you got with the k-jam does. I had this problem on mine, but due to the fact that i use a bluetooth neadset in the car fixed that little problem 8)
That's the end of my k-jam desires then.
I use my MDA compact in the same way you describe, for TomTom, Hands free calling and to play my music through.... and my microphone works fine with the headphone jack in.
I guess one thing to check would be the number of rings on your 2.5mm jack. If you have 3 then theres a possibility the k-jam thinks you have a mic on the end of the wire. If you have 2 rings (normal stereo headphones) then there must be another issue somewhere.
thanks for your replies. My concern was around the fact that sometimes the microphone works and sometimes not. I wonder if there is a workaround or a specific type of cable that I need to ensure that only the audio is routed and not the mic as well.
Thanks for all your help.l
never tried this myself, so i can only assume it would work. you could hack a cheap wired headset up, removing the earpieces but leaving the microphone. then add a stereo 3.5 plug so you can hook it up to your car stereo.
SpeedN
I have that very problem also, it's gotten that annoying that i've stopped using it through my stereo. you are able to get around it by popping the cable out of the kjam, then putting it back in.
pain in the ass though none the less.
What is the phone is set to Speakerphone ?
Even though Speakerphone is currently not working...
Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has had any success in fixing this problem? I am having the same issue. I have a 2 ring 2.5-3.5mm adapter connected (so it should only be routing the audio, not the mic) and sometimes the caller can hear me, sometimes not. At one stage I found by unplugging the cable, setting to speakerphone, then unsetting speakerphone and plugging the cable back in would get it to work, but not anymore...
Any ideas?!?! I love my XDAII mini but this is driving me up the wall!
Cheers,

Initial A2DP findings

Using the M3100 with the itech clip S35 Headset
firstly i've been using the fit4cat tweaker which has an A2DP quality improvememt tweak - unfortunately the tweak makes the quality worse so i've tuned it off and the music quality is not too bad when playing through my car stereo. However, I need to try some decent headphnes with the unit because the ones supplied sound very tinny!
Secondly, when you first pair the device, media player plays through the headset ok. If you then go out of range, when you return the headset re-pairs ok for the phone but the media player doesn't and it plays through the loudspeaker. You have to enter BT settings and recheck the stereo music option to have the sound through the headset again. Anybody getting this with the same or other headsets?
Thirdly, I have the S35 outputting through my car stereo. When people are calling me they can hear an echo (of themselves speaking as the sound comes out through the car speakers). There is some sort of delay i suppose but this is very annoying. I'm not sure why its happening because when I tried the headset using my Sony Ericsson W800i there was no such echo!
therfore, is the echo problem an A2DP thing (as the w800i does not support it and this works ok) or is it a m3100 thing? To test this I could turn off A2DP and ry the headset again - is this possible?
any suggestions appreciated
I have the Jabra BT620s headphones and I have indentical problems.
After install all works well but as soon as you disconnect media player just plays via the phone speaker
at least you guys get it to work once. WMP never plays through my iPAQ bluetooth headset. AVRCP controls work fine though. TCPMP plays fine through the bluetooth headset as long as I pair it up before I execute TCPMP. This is exactly how it worked with my 8125.
The WMP issue is very strange and is likely yet another example of the lack of QA testing in the A2DP portion of the TyTN's implementation. I would expect that these issues will all be fixed in a subsequent TyTN ROM update.
I'm getting on ok with this
quality is pretty good both using the headset with my own sony ear buds. Vast improvement over the itech supplied ear buds.
A2DP - no skipping during normal playback and it works well - quality is not an issue through the car stereo either - not bad at all . I've even been listening to music over A2DP and running sat nav using a GPS BT receiver. A slight pause in music when GPS connects but then all runs well.
My only 2 gripes are:-
1. When you disconnect or go out of range of the headset, it reconnect perfectly with the phone application. This isn't the case with the wireless stereo. I have to enter BT settings, uncheck the wireless stereo setting, save then recheck the setting before it reconnects. Slightly annoying but accesptable (for now)
2. the echo using the headset through my car stereo. People calling me can hear themselves again (about a 0.5 second delay) through the car speakers! Just to repeat my earlier post, this does not happen with my W800i. not sure if its an A2DP problem or something else.
Similarly here, I don't seem to be able to make A2DP (and the handsfree profile, for that matter) work.
Using HTC and an Itech clip, I am able to pair the "wireless stereo" and then play music for some 10 seconds on the GS Player, after which the Wireless Stereo symbol disappears from the top bar and the connection is interrupted. I actually believe that the Itech clip is 'shut off', as I have to turn it on again.
When I try to reconnect the headset, it just won't work and the whole machine is slowed down. Only a soft reset helps.
I hope this is a ROM problem (and not mine) and it'll be fixed soon...
WMP and the Itech clip work fine for me, with the current German ROM.
a2dp issues w/th Hermes
With the CHT9000 WWE rom I had the wireless stereo drop off after about 1 minute, then I would have to reconnect. I flashed to the other dopod WWE ROM (latest) and the problem is gone....sound is comparable to my prophet. Reg tweaks suggested in other forums definetely make the sound quality worse for either ROM version. I think further updated ROM's will improve A2DP reliability (or someone may find a reg hack)...as with the prophet A2DP it just takes time.
Hi guys, I've got the vario ii and the Sony Ericsson HBH-610.
I can add the headset fine and make calls through it, but I don't know how to get the music in wmp to play through it.
If anyone has a few mins spare and could explain it for me I would be really grateful
Headsets..HBH 610...
With my CHT 9000 I use an OMIZ 5660...works great for calls and wireless stereo. I don't have any other headset to compare it to (since I only have used this brand)....I believe that if your "options" do not list wireless stereo then you can't use the A2DP function on your device, at least as it is designed to be used.
I'm not aware of a one-piece headset that supports A2DP that is available (all should have either 2 headphones or two wired ear plugs)..
THE ONLY WAY, I FIND :
I have a 590A Plantronics Bluetooth HeadSet
You must refresh Services of your iTech or your Plantronics !
Go Parameters, Bluetooth, Select your Headset, Refresh.
Then reselect services and Save !
Each time you lost the link (Bluetooth turn off or ...) you will have to Refresh, reselect and Save !
I am searching for a Solve but not find another !
I forget something else !
It is the same thing with my Bluetooth GPS (GNS).
I have a spv m3100 and jabra bt620. They both work like a dream most of the time apart from having to go into bluetooth settings each time I want to connect to the stereo headset option.
I have noticed that when in my garden or at home (a quiet environment probably) that I have excellent streaming but when I am walking around, particularly in built up areas like shopping centres, high streets, tube trains, that there is some loss in the streaming which would seem to point towards some kind of interference.
Why the wireless stereo is set as mono as standard I can't understand. I'm sure its to do with improving the streaming quality, but they are supposed to be STEREO!!! Also I set the quality to 58 instead of 48 and there was a definite loss in streaming quality so I switched back to 48.
The AVRCP also works brilliantly in WMP.
The wireless connection also plays havoc with the bluetooth stereo connection with the buffering of stereo constantly dropping. Also noticed that AVRCP wont work with TCPMP, but as there seems to be some major issues with TCPMP and the Tytn I have uninstalled it for the time being until the guys at CorePacket come up with a fix

So far A2DP has worked fine for me with my Nokia HS-12W. I have applied some registry settings and optimised my SD card and so far it has played with hardly a skip. Definitely better than my previous BA with WM5.

This is the biggest problem for me with my M3100 at the moment. I'm guessing it will only be fixed by an updated\alternative ROM(?!), any ROM's out there I could try that might get round this problem??
Thanks

This is probably headset dependent because with my Nokia HS-12W if i need to reconnect i just press the Audio button and it re-establishes the A2DP connection. No going to BT settings at all.
Interesting, can you just confirm what you mean by the Audio button. Is that just hitting 'Play' in WMP?
Thanks
No, the Nokia has a Music key (not Audio, my mistake) which switches from A2DP to the built-in radio. So if i have lost the BT connection pushing the Music key to select the Audio player will re-establish the connection and music is streamed to the headset. You will see the A2DP icon on the today screen when it has connected and get the chime in the headset.
Ok, thanks for that.
Just one last point, if the connection is lost while music is streaming, does the audio switch to the phone speaker instead??
My problem is I'll be listening to music on the subway then or some reason I'll loose the connection (interferance, low battery...whatever) and immediately music starts coming out the speaker, much to my embarrassment!
Thanks again!

FM Radio with BT Headset?

Hi,
somehow I can't get my BT Headset get to work with the FM Radio.
Only the regular headset (needed as antenna) produces sound..
Any suggestions?
I search the forum but could find a topic, is there I any I missed.. let me know.
Maybe im wrong, but i think you have already nailed this one the clue being the antenna bit.
I was asking myself the same question. I imagined two solutions :
1) Take an old headset, cut wire 20 cm maybe from the connector to have an antenna (sort of). But I wonder if there is no side effect (infinite impedance headset supported ?)
2) Maybe there exists special FM antenna who plugs in an headset plug ? I have searched such device, but not found.
But there is, with both solution, a potential problem : if HD detects an headsed (even a false one), maybe sound will not be routed to BT...
But I'll try the first solution one day or other
When using bt headphones, I plug a dummy stereo jack to disable the speakers. So, if the bt is disconnected, music will not go through the device speakers.
When doing so, I noticed that radio works quite well. However the sound is not routed to bt headphones so from the menu the only option is to play through the device speakers. Reception is ok with nothing but a stereo jack, but this doesnt solve the issue of routing sound to bt headphones.
Care to try this

The attached app is for re-routing audio to a paired BT headset. I've never tried it as i don't have a BT Headset
You'll still need to attach an antenna of some sort (e.g. a normal set of HTC headphones with the ear buds cut off so it look's sort of made for the task)

Only one stereo channel works!

Hi,
Wondering if anyone have experienced this and have a solution. I noticed today that only one of the stereo channels seems to work. I haven't listened to music with the headset before, so I do not know if this appeared in MR2 or was there before.
The problem: When listening to music (mp3), recorded videos, or over the internet (youtube), I only get sound from one of the speakers (left). The right channel is plain dead. This is both when using the headset earphones or directly with the built-in speakers. However, when using the headset earphones and listening to radio, both channels work fine! This leads me to the conclusion that this is not a hardware failure, but a software thing. Correct?
I have used the earphones on other devices and they are good. I have also restarted the device, without any success.
Is there a setting for speaker balance that I may have accidentally switched? I haven't found a balance setting anywhere, but I may have missed it.
Please help!
