Hi all,
when you got the screen folded over and facing out, any way of locking the screen?
thanks
ross
I was also woundering about that...
when you have the screen in phone mode, there must be some way of locking the screen!
well if nobody here knows, o2 won't know!
Not sure if this answers your question but mine is set up thus:
In 'Settings/Buttons/Lock' set 'When device is off' to 'Lock all buttons except Power Button'
I keep the screen outwards and use the power button to lock/unlock.
One snag is that the phone seems to unlock itself when receiving an incoming call. I therefore can accidently cancel it trying to get the damn thing out of my pocket.
I do believe it locks the screen during installation of the ext rom..
This is done by running tpdisable.exe from the windows directory..
A word of warning though: IT'S DISABLED!
Unless you bind tpenable.exe to a button FIRST, you're screwed..
(Ok, a soft reset should fix it..)
I think they are called tpenable and tpdisable...
I don't have the device yet, so I can't check right now.
When I was looking at the config file, there was no mention of an exe, it was like a command (unlock your ext rom and take a look at it).
I got the impression this function was now embedded in the OS hence no exe. Probably wring of course....
Then it should be possible to make such a program, and assign it to a button..

Any one work out what the key combination is to diactivate it on the Universal?
TIA
I guess it would be the equivalent keys of leftmost and rightmost keys on HTC Blue Angel ('Windows' and 'Ok' keys!?)
However you guys, should try MortSaver (freeware also)

At least you can set several parameter according your preferences.
I just found an issue related with Voice Speed Dial interworking.

Then look for the DeviceLock CAB file and assign it to a hardware button so you can remove it from the Today Screen (just like I did last week ).
Did a search for that cab file, but didnt find it. Where is it supposed to be?

i used vjkeypress with the link -133 which will lock the device and assined it to my comm butten because i donĀ“t use it that often and have it in my tray also
I cant seem to install the devicelock.cab on my Blue Angel ... is it because it wont run on WM2003 or some other reason maybe.
Does anybody know about another program for key locking the BA?
Cheers

It has smartskey installed. That is y it is behaving like this.
This is the function of smartskey, you can remove this setting by editting the smartskey.ini you'll get it in windows folder.

You really should use smartskey, makes the wizard easily 1 hand operable. (if you hold down the right softkey it clicks the top right corner (usually X or OK), or u can hold the left softkey and it clicks the Start) And it was installed in the WM6.0 cooked rom by faria.

Well, i thought that i would try what you said and just chnage it, but everthing i tried still came back with the same!!! Chnage anything on there did not do anything, so if you can explain to me what the neck i should chnage i will be happy!!! Just to put the buttons back to normal in the phone app!
I bought an xv6700 with a broken touchscreen. The guy I bought it from said that it could be navigated decently with just the buttons. But before he gave it to me he hard reset it and now it is stuck on the screen saying "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile based device." I tried pressing all the buttons and doing hard and soft resets, but nothing will get me past that screen. I don't really want to get a new digitizer because the guy who sold it had tried that already and it hadn't worked.
Anyone have any ideas to get past that first screen? Is there some way that I could access it through my PC and modify some file that would make it think that I had set it up already? (I flashed it with wm6 if that makes any difference.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
News Flash!!!
I figured out that if I hold in the action button and press the windows logo key, it will skip past the first screen. But now it's on the 'align screen' screen. There has got to be a key combination to skip past that too. So.... I'll keep pressing buttons.
i dont think its posible because it ask you to do a lot of touch programs after that
not to seem pesamistice but if it dosn't work out can i buy your talk end keys module
I have the same exact problem with my 6700.. (this was days before my contract with Verizon ended)
The touch screen stopped working and I thought a hard reset might fix it, but now i'm stuck at the Welcome screen..
I upgraded to the 6800/mogul and updated to No2Chem's 6.1 rom. I noticed that he removed the welcome center and it booted right to the today screen.
I will have to ask him how he removed it and find an Apache rom to modify.
Solution
1. Connect device to PC using Activesync.
2. In Activesync click explore.
3. Navigate to Windows/Startup
4. Delete the 'Welcome' file.
5. Reboot.
I downloaded a program called 'fake cursor' which lets you use the buttons to move a cursor on the screen. Most things can be done with just the buttons though.
I have the same problem. My PDA is HTC TyTN and I have WM6 installed. But I can't find any Startup folder. I've found welcom.exe and welcome.lnk, but they can not be deleted. Help to solve the "initial set-up" problem.

Hello,
Connect you phone to your PC with Activesync and browse.
create an empty text file and rename it "welcome.not"
Place it in the root of your phone storage and reboot.
It's magic !
It worked for me but now I have this problem : how to substitute the soft keys ???
Most of the menus ask for the "OK" or "Cancel" with the 2 soft keys on the screen... how to deal with that ??
Thanks for your replies
Alright guys:
Myself as plenty of you fellas are probably still seeking for a quick, light and fast solution for locking your Jewels.
Believe me I have tried every locking app that has been uploaded and they all worked great and thanks to all members that made them........
I finally came to the conclusion that the best way to lock the Jewel is with the famous Hold Down End Key. But holding down the damm end key for 3 seconds every time is not really nice.
Even though I believe it has some major positive points compared to other locking apps such as:
-Very lite, comes OEM in Windows.
-It is the real all round lock, NO hard key can remove it.
-You save space and mem by not using a third party app.
Easy Solution:
-Add a shortcut to your start menu or your programs list. No need to hold down the end key.
-Or add it to a soft key on home screen.
I provide the .exe attached, I extracted this from my device so I dont know if it works on all devices. But we all have the same .exe file in the Windows directory.
Hope this helps some one.
Greetings.
PS: I was looking for that terrible grey background image that apears when you want to unlock the device to change it for something cooler, any ideas? Thanks.
The skin for the endkey is in windows folder.
Copy entire windows folder to your PC, and looks for the images related to endkey. Sorry but i cant remember the names right now
And maybe ull find some more images to skin more programs like the dialer, etc...

Yes, im aware, all the image files are in windows.
But I dont have time to search (dammm job)
Thanks anyways.
Yes good idea to use the standard WM lock. It would be considered a really good locking solution if it wasn't for the stupid, bloated HTC dialer with its big answer and reject buttons. The standard WM dialer works better with the standard lock because the incoming call notification is much more difficult to accidentally press.
Even better, if you use the standard WM (bubble popup) volume control then you can still use the volume up and down buttons with the device locked.
You can also assign Endkey.exe to the left softkey, that way you can use the same softkey to lock and unlock the device.
is there any way to change the holding the key time to something shorter than 3 seconds?
