i-mate's ROM update K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Guys n gals,
I was browsing around the i-mate FTP site this afternoon and have found what looks to be two K-JAM ROM updates. I have checked the actual website however theres no mention of the updates there as yet.
The filenames / versions are:
K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship.zip
K-JAM_Arabic_2160901_21609102_20710_ship.zip
I-mate owners, go get em... ftp://ftp.clubimate.com
Chris
p.s. dont expect to get em in a hurry, the ftp site is currently only letting me download at around 6 - 7 KB /s :?

Good catch! I've got a jasjar myself so I cant help testing this, but nice one none-the-less If just had a look, and as of now, there arent any un-announced jasjar roms I'll keep looking though!

Yeah they have only posted the K-JAM updates so far. I actually find this a bit strange as the jasJar was released before the K-JAM yet we get AKU2 before JasJar does :?
It seems i have disadvantaged myself by announcing this before i finished downloading it as i'm watching the download get slower and slower as presumably more people read this post and begin to download.
Oh well, i'm just glad they have released it, even if it does take me all nite to get it lol.

does anybody tried it jet?

I'll tell you how it goes in about 30 minutes when i have done the update.
Chris

upload to ftp here
allthough I cant get to the FTP from work .
I wonder if it will be better then the current QTEk rom ?

done. storage: 37.35 free, program: 27.10 free.

..very nice comm manager. with phone off...

Is this an reliable ROM? I'm now using the original ROM from T-Mobile. 26 minutes and I could test by myself

you can also download from the http server
http://www.clubimate.com/support/KJAM/ROM/K-JAM_Arabic_2160901_21609102_20710_ship.zip
http://www.clubimate.com/support/KJAM/ROM/K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship.zip

ok i go upgrading now
i come back later for comments

I suppose E-Mail Push and A2DP are included in this update?
Did anybody already test if it is possible to roll back to an earlier ROM Version? Is it possible to delete the Extended ROM?

Does this have AKU2?

i will have a look, hold on

it has aku2, it is available as separate cab installer in extended rom

you get notified if you want to install the ext rom or not !!
cool..
Ohh uhmm Push mail is in it

Excellent
Means SP5/m updates should follow shortly then I hope.

Storage 44.16mb free
Program 26.62 free
without ext rom installed

Is it possible to make this ROM in Dutch? With the use of the original ROM?

Don't you think this ROM is costing us another 4 MB of Program Memory.
If I remember correctly immediately after a fresh install / hard reset of the previous version on my Jasjar would give me 31MB of free program memory. I presume that the memory footprint of the Jasjar and Wizard are not much different and if it is now down to 26 to 27 MB as quoted above, implies that the new ROM is at least 3 to 4 MB heavier in terms of free program memory.
Anyways now I am anxiously waiting before they release a ROM Upgrade for the Jasjar.

http://www.xda-developers.com/XDAtools/
the different guides here should be plenty of help
here is something i copy'd from this site at one poit
Ok here you go, its a little outdated but its what I still use:
Qman's how to use XDArit to write nk.nb1 or nk.nbf to your SD card aka the Bootloader Method!
1. Place XDArit and the nk.nb1 or nk.nbf file in the same folder and start XDArit.
2. Select your SD card (disk drive) from the drop down menu.
3. Select Write to SD
Notice that the Windows CE box is already checked so just click the browse button at the end of that window.
4. Select your (nk.nb1 or nk.nbf) image and then Open
Notice by default XDArit will open looking for a *.nb1 file but if you're going to use a .nbf file you'll have to manually change the "Files of Type" to *.nbf
Notice that nk.nbo / nk.nbo was automatically added as your boot-loader and its check box is unchecked so leave it that way and click OK. XDArit should start writing to the card.
When XDArit has finished writing the image put the SD-card into the XDA and hold the power button and soft reset. You'll be taken to the below screen:
SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit
Press action to download and it will start the download/restore from the SD card.
Follow the on screen instructions once its "Completed" which will consist of a "Soft Boot/Reset".
BTW the above is based on using XDArit version 1.0 which can be download from the software section at:
http://www.yorch.net and a PCI USB 3-One Travel Flash reader P/N FPT-D bought at Fry's.

The 4.01.00 ENG version is here ftp://tmobile:[email protected]:21 ..
but be careful as it contains the upgrade for RSU and I 'm not sure
it supports 900/1800 or not since it's TMO upgrade.
If your device has no Radio problems (GSM),
my advice would be to down load the file, use Winzip or WinRAR to
extract the NK.nbf file which the ROM upgrade, put it on SD card and flash your XDA using the bootloader.
PS: if you are sure that your network is 1800 MHz then do NOT use R6.24 for RSU upgrade.
Good luck

Hi m8,

not sure prob the latest 4.01.00 ENG
and be very sure that it were only the rom and not the
radiostack i were upgrading since i seem to recall that 4.01 is US gsm
but i'm not sure i'm upgrading untill i get more tired of messing with 2002 and what applications i like
then i can complain more about the applications which i really really love and need but dont work with 2003
plus people still report issues with 2003 deleting their sdcard for no reason
so if you give it a go be sure to not have infomation on your sdcard which you dont have back'd up so you can get them back if it mess up
Hi m8,

as fort me i am using that test versionis much better than the cooked 4.00.5 i was using earlier
alrite mate use vA.30.07 AT&T test rom newest out and its bluddy brill works like a dream cant wait to get the propper update should be cool
its very fast and seems extreamly stable v4.01.00 is stable but is soo slow and seems to make tomtom 2 run slowly as in takes about 3 minutes to start up ect...

On your xda you have 2 things,
the rom, thats your operation system, now pocketpc 2002, you wanted to update it to windows mobile 2003.
And you have the radio rom, this is the "operation system" for your cell phone part of your xda.
If you update to A.30.07, the windows mobile 2003 beta, you leave your radio rom in tact, so you can continue making calls
Also, watch out for those updates what are programs,
because the also update your radio rom,
better use a .nb1 file with xdatools
Hi,

Does the ppc2003 upgrade allow you to control the phone and the pda volume separately (as per the xda II)?
Thanks

yes, I have one slide bar for the phone and one voor the os (music, alarms, etc)
yup dual volume controls also on v4.01.00 it has a tab called band showing 1900mhz or 900mhz this means you then have to loose 1800mhz (but can be brought back in bootloader) on the vA.30.07 there is no tab like this so in other words no need to go into bootloader so you wont loose your 1800mhz
so vA.30.07 is great for countries using 900/1800
gazzaman2k,
I updated the rom last night everything is working just fine, very nice and it runs very smoothly as well.
I have put Tom Tom 2.24 and that seem to work as well, and the speed is great
Just one question what gps driver is best to use because i'am only getting a couple of bars on the gps status???
Also on the phone side i'am getting on my desktop an AT&T WIRELESS tab??? is that right...
And finally what can i use for closing programs from the desktop, making sure they close by tapping the X in the courner of the screen. Because when i close a program they still remain in the programs running under memory tab...
please let em know
Thanks alot

att wireless in today... u seeing it because this rom is from them and they force it in there, no biggie go to the today - items screen in the settings and uncheck it it will be gone,
as for the programs remaining in the memory that is how the OS has been for a while get aversion of POCKETNAV from Scott seligman woreks well to move around the OS and helps u close unwanted proggies
http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff.html
also the GPS thing isnot a driver issue it is WM2003 feature ( or drawback u may call it) that the signal meter is poor... it is only the display that is poor the signal strength when u see one single dot is about 40% (i tried the trial version of ipdashboard which will tell u in numbers what the strenght is) so just live with it....
hope it answers most of the ?'s
yeah windowsCE have always mixed the alt tab kind og closing with normal closing i asume that it's to make loading faster if you often use the same stuff
it's a good custom to force programs down once in awhile because if you played quake 1 or 2 and then pacman and the deside to listen to mp3 it's going to sound crack smack and pop
Thanks alot for all you help, you have all been very helpful and i now have a xda1 with wm2003 test rom on it....
oh and not forgetting voice comand, very nice app
just one thing i have notice the radio i have installed is 4.20 could i put 4.21 on it and if so how..
Also when i press the volume button on the side and in some apps the box for highlighting a feature or missing but the function works as if its there... is this just because its a test rom???
Thanks once again, i'am now very much enjoying my xda because of people on this board..
Thanks
Zetex
Zetex, glad to hear the upgrade went succesfully!
Did you use the SD card method described earlier in this thread?
Is your UK 02 phone the version with the 32Meg Rom or the 64?
If it is the 64, does anyone know if the beta ROM fits into the 32 Meg version.
Any news as to whether the final version has come out yet?
Thanks

New Kitchen online....

Hello XDA-Users.
Now i´ve got my new internet connection and i think it´s time to share it with you. I set up a ROMkitchen for the good old XDA I.
It might me an alternative to the kitchen of Yorch.
In the moment i would say my kitchen is not perfect, but who is perfect?
The workspaces are limited, since i´m only using an good old PII with 266Mhz and 64MB RAM. Maybe in the future i will upgrade it.
Also there is a limitation in "Opening Hours". It will be available from Mo. - Fr, 8pm - 8am and all of the weekend. Timezone is Europe / Berlin.
If you´re out of time you will see it soon, with an different layout.....
If there are problems, hints, or wishes concernign the kitchen, please write me an PM.
The Link to the Kitchen is:
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Hope it will work allt he time....
Stefan
PS: Who wants me to add some software or maybe will donate me some better hardware can contact me via Email [email protected]
Thank you, but where can I find a french rom ?
THis is cool alternative to Yorch site
Which ROM is the original AT&T WM2003 (i.e. not BETA/ Test version)?
Are the software such as Omegaone BatteryPack , Spb softwares etc. etc. demo version or already registered?
thanks

no worries working now downloading as i speak lol crappy 56k modem i blame lol
wow how did u manage to fit Voice Command and Calligrapher in there,, not sure if they work as i an still cooking mine (as i type) but when i chech/uncheck the s/w it does not affect the rom usage???
tagenda !! excellent today plugin plz try to add it if possible is a freeware
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/tagenda.shtml
also total commander (excellent file browser) http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/totalcommander.shtml
If those file sizes are correct they wont fit into the available space, I have chosen the voice command and the available space stays the same, it will be interesting to see what kind of it produces. Regarding the tomtom, how will the reg code work if its in rom, and also how will it be affected when updates from tomtom have to be applied.
built my rom and 100% totally happy with it cheers LumpiStefan for allowing me to make one
one program the kitchen could really do with....
Button plus v2.0 from yorchs site in thedownlaods section
i dont think voice commands or the vb files will fit into the rom
also no point in putting tomtom gps in as when you come to update it you wont be able to meaning a new rom will have to be cooked without this in
cant get connect 4 or snake to work even with the runtime file things they just dont load up
but great work man keep it up
If you want to add software that requires a key, you have to add the complete "group" firts. if you don`t select "add Software that needs to register" the sotware won´t be added, and because of this, the required space won´t change....

diff bet rom and ext.rom

i ve been reeding a lot about the in built rom and the extended rom of the ppc on the forum. but can anyone (plz excuse my ignorance) explain to me the diff. i ve got the 1.13.83 version on my exec. from where do i get a more recent version(if there is any). i couldnt find it on the o2 site..there they jus give updates of the o2 active software.
cheers
Are you sure it's 1.13.83? I don't think anyone else has got newer than 1.13.82. Maybe you could dump it and upload it to the ftp if it is.
sorry my mistake...its the 1.13.82wwe ROM and 1.13.188wwe ext rom
melty, play nicely
we are all eagerly awaiting a new rom some sometime this quarter. the only others really available are hacked beta's, on buzzdev.net forums.
recommend, wait... not long to go, and if you are this new as to not know, dont go the beta route. i didnt and i aint new, but expect a "released rom" in about 2 - 4 weeks from imate, and suspect that you can "choose" to use that rom via alternate means or wait for the office o2 release which will be about the same time.

02 xda mini rom? updates? keep origonal? change to...i-mate?

finding it hard to get good answers....so in anybodies opinion
the 02 xda mini s
is there any updates from the origonal 1.5.4.2 WWE? if so where can i get em from?
If no updates, maybe the 02 rom isnt the most up-to-date?? and it would be better to change to i-mate? or a q-tec?...if so...which would people recommend? and where could i find them? also...would they effect my being on 02 at all or would evrything stay the same and just the device will work better?!?
what do people think?
jamie
Hello jamie,
I would think that you should at least upgrade to the qtek9100 rom if u worry that u might not turn back to the O2 provided ROM. Or if you want even better performance, you can use the latest imate ROM. But i read in posts that you cannot downgrade as the loki wizard does not work in this rom.
Anyhow, i'm using an xda mini S and using the imate rom though.
Cheers
I was wondering about this as well. I've got an O2 XDA Mini S and it all seems to be working fine (so far). I don't use it for anything spectacular though phone, diary, notebook and I have a few other apps on it. I also run spb pocket plus and spb diary, again with no particular problems.
I know the old adage, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but are there any benefits from moving to the latest imate ROM, say?
tzehming,
You said you couldn't downgrade. Do you mean that once you put the latest imate ROM on, you can't ever go back to the original O2? Also, what's the deal with LokiWizard - is there something that needs to be done before the ROM can be upgraded?
(apologies for the dumb questions, I'm starting to get to know my way around the device)
Thanks,
John

Hello jko,
Yup u're right about having to use loki to unlock the rom. Search it in the forum and u'll find it. Just type loki.
After unlocking using the software, you can then install any rom for wizards, i.e. O2 mini xda s rom, imate rom or qtek 9100 rom. The one i'm using now is the latest one, which is the imate rom. I heard it cant be downgraded and we'll have to wait for an updated loki software to fix that. But the qtek 9100 rom can be downgraded again. I suggest u try the qtek rom as it makes the pda much faster. The O2 rom is really a turtle when opening the slider and closing it.
Hope this helps
Having read the advice above I'm going to unlock my device and flash it with the qtek 9100 ROM.
Once I've done that, what CAB files do I need to install in order to get O2 MMS and O2 GPRS working again?
Thanks,
Having read the advice above I'm going to unlock my device and flash it with the qtek 9100 ROM.

Can't answer your question, but just a request to post back your experience once you're done. It would be appreciated.
John
well, you could again search the forum for gprs settings. u may not get the automatic setup anymore, thereby may have to do it manually. search for O2 gprs in the forum. as for mms settings, someone made a cab file, I can't remember which forum , but again, it can be searched. Try O2 mms.
hope this helps
I've got the mini S too...
First thing I did when I got it was to get rid of all the o2 crap on it... couldn't believe how slow it was even in basic mode!
I did the whole hard reset then soft reset when it says "customizing..."
This basically leaves you with a bare o2 wm5 rom without any of the customiztion installed. MMS won't work and either will GPRS.
To get these working you need to install Total Commander on your mini S and browse to the /extended_rom/ directory.
The cab files in this directory are the files installed when it says "customizing..." on a hard reset.
You can then selectively install which ones you would like to install.
There is a brief outline of what each one is on the htc wizard page on the wiki but I've made a better one I'm gonna stick on there.
You also need to input the GPRS settings and MMS settings manually and install a cab from the extended rom that creates the MMS folder in the messaging application.
After you've done all this you'll notice a considerable improvement over the o2 rom with all the crapola installed.
I've also used lokiwizard to unlock it all.
Not tried the qtek rom or the new i-mate one... as I don't use push-email or the like and haven't found any considerable bugs yet I don't need to.
I have found naggaly features which after installing the RegistryWizard, NullKbd and a few others... they seemed to be solved!
I recently updated my O2 mini S 1.5.4.... rom to the new imate one and i must give my approval for upgrading to this rom. Its faster, more stable, is much better on battery life for some reason.

Where can I get this. It does not appear to be in the Rom download area (or is it under a different name?)

Well I successfully upgraded to the new i-mate ROM and it's MUCH faster. There's a lot less lag when sliding the keyboard in & out, and the general responsiveness of the device is considerably better.
I've managed to get GPRS working, and I've installed the MMS cab but I can't send or receive MMS's at the moment - it keeps telling me that it couldn't send the message. So I'm going to post elsewhere in this forum and check that I've got the correct MMS settings.
Overall though, I'd definately recommend upgrading to this ROM. Just remember to use Total Commander to take a backup of the O2 Extended ROM beforehand so that you've got the MMS cab-file available to install at a later date.
Excellent. Thanks for the feedback. I may well give it a go later today.

Just remember to use Total Commander to take a backup
Is this the one from Ghisler.com?
I downloaded this but cannot find any instructions or reference to backing up the Rom. Any idea where I can get the instructions (if there are any).
Code:
browse to the /extended_rom/ directory
I cannot see this in the Total Commander Directory list.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Just got my o2 mini s a couple of days ago and I am loving it soo far!!
However, I already encountered a couple of bugs - the system laggss REALLLI bad, like when the slider is pushed out, even when closing/running certain programs the device hangs. Also, I have seen a couple of times where the "phone" application will not load up. In all these cases I have had to do a soft reset on the device.
I am thinking of upgrading the rom - but this is my first pda, and i know nothing at all about fidgeting with the software. I don't want to mess up such an expensive phone so is it pretty easy to do?

I too want to be careful.
I have 2 phones, and my O2 Mini S is slow compared to my MDA Vario.
So I am going to try and run an update to replace the ROM on the O2 with the newer one on the Vario, and also get rid of the O2 add-ins which are what slow it down apparently.
I will try this first because I have read about so many problems with the latest I-mate one, and it is not easy to return to the original ROM if it does give problems (although it is possible it seems tricky) - I may the Imate one later if I need to.
The ROM for the Vario (along with others) is here:
ftp://[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Tmobile/ - use password xda
Its the UK one.
But first I backed up my Mini ROM. I used awizard to do this. Read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43399
I think that you will find that using the awizard (get it from this link)

the backup part is easy. I have done that quite successfully.
Good Luck.

New T-Mobile Wing Update Is Officially Available.

T-Mobile has released the much anticipated update to the Wing. The update seems different from the one provided through HTC though so heres the link. http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/. happy updating!
Who is going to be the first to try it?
I'm using the radio from it.
is it WM6.1?
nope ...not 6.1 but with all the t mobile crap running you get 18m and if you turn voice command off 20m....looks like they fixed the memory leak to........ better but to late....
rom version:4.26.531.1wwe
rom date :04/22/08
radio :03.21.90
Wait, why exactly are you guys hesitant to download this? I'm assuming cause you're using your own roms, right? I still have the stock tmobile rom and everything, so i'm gonna download it.
the file
can someone post the file to download? internrt explorer monile wont let me get to it.
any 1 know if I use this update with my wing with the stock rom but with a 6mb pagepool will it damage my phone???will I lost all my data???like game or apps???
I downloaded it and had to backup all my ****, so yeah..

Ok Well My first impression on this is..its about time they have an official update. Ive been told this was going to be released months ago from t mobile themselves. but anyway it does solve most of the problems including the memory leak. the im application still wont close after u exit though but i really dont use it. but the rom itself is pretty good it would be alot better though it if was windows mobile 6.1 but i recently talked to a t mobile representative and they told me they should be getting the 6.1 version soon so keep your fingers crossed.
can you please put the radio here...........thanx
I believe the radio is already posted on another thread.
Edit:
Here it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393988&page=3
The only other change from the original stock seems to be the office mobile update.
So far the memory leak seems to be gone.
It is set for an 8M Page Pool. I changed mine back to 6, the offset is obviously different, so the current instructions at modaco need some tweaking.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393988&page=3 heres the link to the radio!
I'm obviously a new Wing user, so explain the memory leak problem to me please?
For an updated ROM this isn't bad for anybody who uses the stock ROM, however for anyone who uses a custom ROM, this update isn't at all worth the download.
Like stated before, it's a little too late for update to be at all impressive.
How do you change the page pool?
the memory leak problem was caused by windows live through the phone and u would start with about 10 mb of ram then it will decrease overtime to maybe 4 and thats bad for the phone cause itll be very slow
It says my phone number is not a valid T-mobile phone number

Just keep refreshing or continuing. It said the same thing when I put my number in and I kept hitting enter until it let me through.
