Virtual Keyboard Opens When Keyboard Is Open. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

One of the most annoying things about the Wizard is that the OS doesn't know that I have a sliding keyboard, so if I open pocketIE with the keyboard open, it opens the virtual keyboard too. Is there anyway to have the virtual keyboard disabled when in landscape mode?

the OS knows... the programs don't. Coders themselves have to detect whether 1. the device supports an external keyboard and 2. if it does, whether it is active or not - and suppress the SIP if it is.
Can't say I know of anything that would make landscape-mode automatic, but you could download NullKB and change to that SIP to 'disable' the SIP. It would apply to portrait mode as well, though.

mine learns after a while, where you just hide the sip, it won't pop open automatically anymore

google nullkb

I have nullkb but it doesn't seem to work for me. I select it and it just stays in the current sip. Never switches. Help...

Onscreen pop-up keyboard

Is there any way to disable the pop-up keyboard? I have no need for it, I have a keyboard on my exec
Install phm tools and use the external keyboard SIP.

Click to collapse
You could follow vijay's suggestion, but you should also find that in normal use (i.e. if you're using the hardware keyboard) the SIP input thing never appears unless you tap its icon on the screen.
The system is smart: if the SIP keyboard appears when your cursor enters a text input field then just ignore it and use the hardware keyboard. (Don't tap the screen to clear the SIP!) Once you've started using the hardware KB the SIP KB won't appear again until you tap the SIP icon to raise it.
If you tap the SIP icon to hide the SIP before you start typing on the hardware KB, the SIP will still appear next time you enter a text field.
The SIP on my Exec hasn't appeared on screen in days. This behaviour is perfect IMHO, so well done Microsoft!

annoying software keyboard popup in landscape mode

with my german MDA Pro I experience a very annoying behavior of the software keybord (the one displayed on the screen). Whenver I focus an textfield (i.e. pocketIE adressbar, or when renaming a file in total commander etc.) that software keyboard pops up. Now as long as I am in portrait mode that MIGHT be a helpful feature. But when I am in landscape mode and I have the hardwarekeyboard available this is useless and annoying. So is there a way to surpress this? I seems that this popup does nto happen always. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't - I just was not able to find out what it depends on.
Same Prob too.
It sucks !
Someone can help ?
PHM PowerToys has an "Extended Keyboard SIP" bundled in with all its other goodies. No keyboard pops up when you select that as your default input method.
I found a "ripped" version of just the keyboard SIP without having to install all the other stuff.
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmpocketpcpowertoys.shtml (watch for popups)

Let me know if this works for you.
what does this keyboard tool actually do? does it just set some registry setting ? can I uninstall it after I have run it ? Or must this App raun ALL THE TIME to make it work ? (the latter would suck since eats ressources)
It just add another SIP into your other one
But this time, it will show nothing so you can use your keyboard freely
And no, it should not take up any resource, if any, it will be very very very little
Fear not chaps, I posted about this and just use the hard keyboard and it 'learns' not to pop up in landscape mode.
Hope it helps
it does learn, but i think it learned by selecting an alternative input as the default.

Fake SIP

FakeSIP
This SIP is placeholder, so you don't see keyboard toggle if you select it as current input method.
This is useful if you use keys, but keyboard autoshow irritate you.
Install cab and select "Fake SIP" in menu.
When you need to use real keyboard, you can switch it, of course.
thanks m8.
Search xda-developers for "NullKB". Someone beat you to it by a few years.
On another note, I find NullKB to be indispensable in combination with PQzII. So when I slide out the keyboard the device switches to NullKB and prevents the soft kb from popping up. And when I slide back to portrait mode the SIP changes back to the soft KB.
I don't see PQzII talked about much anymore. It's hard to describe all its functionality, but in general it handle all sorts of keybinding and event-based behaviours.
fluxist
Hey, guys!
I've tried to use NullKb, but got no stability in daily usage. Sometimes i can't select it - whatever i want to select, the build-in keyboard is choosen. I've thought that it NullKb's fault and I've made my own implementation [ didn't saw your Fake SIP, GreateVK, sorry ]
But even with it, sometimes I can't open the SIP which I want to use. Does anybody encountered sucha problems? And what the technical "background" of it?
Another trouble is that I can't set height of SIP to zero - it have the same height as every other SIP in system. I've even excluded SIP_DOCKED flag from IMINFO.fdwFlags, but it was a useless step. What is the right way to setup height of SIP control?
My little SIP stub [source code + binary] is attached

[REQ] Orientation SIP Switch Hack Or Tool

The diamond/opal keyboards available have a feature to automatically switch keyboard type when switched to landscape mode, is there a way to change any type of registry so that the keyboard changed when switched to landscape would be null keyboard?? Or at least a tool that lets you choose which sip you would like on portrait and landscape modes would be an awesome help
PhoneAlarm has a setting for landscape and portrait default SIP, but I could not get it to work.
You can do this with Mortscript. Take a look in the script accumulation thread, there just may be one in there.

[Q] Stop Keyboard switch during opera

Whenever I use opera the keyboard switches to a keyboard with a ".com" and no space bar. Nothing I do brings the other keyboard back until I remove the battery or chose to use a different keyboard.
Is there a setting in Opera, a cab, or registry edit that can stop the keyboard switch from happening?
