Onscreen pop-up keyboard - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Is there any way to disable the pop-up keyboard? I have no need for it, I have a keyboard on my exec

Install phm tools and use the external keyboard SIP.

You could follow vijay's suggestion, but you should also find that in normal use (i.e. if you're using the hardware keyboard) the SIP input thing never appears unless you tap its icon on the screen.
The system is smart: if the SIP keyboard appears when your cursor enters a text input field then just ignore it and use the hardware keyboard. (Don't tap the screen to clear the SIP!) Once you've started using the hardware KB the SIP KB won't appear again until you tap the SIP icon to raise it.
If you tap the SIP icon to hide the SIP before you start typing on the hardware KB, the SIP will still appear next time you enter a text field.
The SIP on my Exec hasn't appeared on screen in days. This behaviour is perfect IMHO, so well done Microsoft!

INPUT KEYBOARD pop , how to stop automatic popping up

INPUT KEYBOARD pop , how to stop automatic popping up
I have some software that requires and User and password input, and the WM5 INPUT keyboard pop up tool automatically pops up when I go to this screen.
How can I turn this Wm5 input tool off, or to manual, or just not to pop up, whenever a text entry is required in a software form.
Any ideas ?

See
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/03/27/562162.aspx
look for "Make the SIP stop coming up" under Pocket PC Specific
Check this freeware solution out:
PHM Power Toys.
Scroll down to the bottom for the external keyboard.
Select this from the SIP panel and the popup is gone.
There are a few other good utilities in this package, but that one solves a big problem.
All the above solutions dont work for Wm5, any more ideas ?
I found this solution for WM5 and nullkeyboard
http://personales.ya.com/beemer/prod03.htm
nullkb.ARM4.cab (84kB) Windows Mobile 2003 y Windows Mobile 5, QVGA y VGA.
I'm using this Nullkeyboard since 4 months, works fine.
I've been using the method described in the MSblog linked to by mrandery. Just click in a text input box, ignore the on screen keyboard (i.e. don't close it) and type with the universal's built in keyboard. The onscreen keyboard will go away and won't come back unless you click on it again, unless you use some badly written software that explictily calls for it to appear.

Prevent onscreen input in landscape mode

How do I prevent on-screenm input, such as virtuual keyboard and handwritng recognition from coming up every time I click on an input box - I would rather just use the actual qwerty keyboard.
Thanks
First, get a program that allows you to specify the default input method for portrait and landscape separately - PQzII can do this:
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/
Then, get a dummy input panel. I use a free one called ZeNoKeyboard. Set this as the default input method for landscape in PQzII. Done
You can get ZeNoKeyboard here:
http://www.zepocketforge.com/Product.aspx?Prog=ZeNoKeyboard
An alternative is in PHM PowerToys, but there's no way to do a selective install so you end up with lots of other stuff (that you may not want) as well. The clipboard input pane is nice in theory, but does not display well on the Universal's VGA display:

Just start typing, and the onscreen keyboard will disappear

Fake SIP

FakeSIP
This SIP is placeholder, so you don't see keyboard toggle if you select it as current input method.
This is useful if you use keys, but keyboard autoshow irritate you.
Install cab and select "Fake SIP" in menu.
When you need to use real keyboard, you can switch it, of course.
thanks m8.
Search xda-developers for "NullKB". Someone beat you to it by a few years.
On another note, I find NullKB to be indispensable in combination with PQzII. So when I slide out the keyboard the device switches to NullKB and prevents the soft kb from popping up. And when I slide back to portrait mode the SIP changes back to the soft KB.
I don't see PQzII talked about much anymore. It's hard to describe all its functionality, but in general it handle all sorts of keybinding and event-based behaviours.
fluxist
Hey, guys!
I've tried to use NullKb, but got no stability in daily usage. Sometimes i can't select it - whatever i want to select, the build-in keyboard is choosen. I've thought that it NullKb's fault and I've made my own implementation [ didn't saw your Fake SIP, GreateVK, sorry ]
But even with it, sometimes I can't open the SIP which I want to use. Does anybody encountered sucha problems? And what the technical "background" of it?
Another trouble is that I can't set height of SIP to zero - it have the same height as every other SIP in system. I've even excluded SIP_DOCKED flag from IMINFO.fdwFlags, but it was a useless step. What is the right way to setup height of SIP control?
My little SIP stub [source code + binary] is attached

problem with Full QWERTY

When I want to use the keyboard and have the Full QUERTY keyboard selected, it's in numeric mode. When I tap ABC to get to the alfanumeric mode nothing happens. What is the solution?
Axum
Did you try tapping on the right side of the keyboard button so you can choose which keyboard you want to use?
Right hand side there is a abc button, is it not there?
yes, I tried that, both full or compact QWERTY is not working when I select them and then tap ABC. When I select the standard Windows Mobile keyboard, then I get a Qwerty keyboard that I can use.
I had this problem earlier on the same phone (but I did a hard reset then) and now the problem is back.
The problem started when I selected 123 for the first time in the Full Qwerty mode.
Axum
Anything installed before the problems started?
I've had this problem before as well. Do you have any other SIP's installed?
I have the same problem, except mine also does it with the
123
456
789
Caps0Symbol
keyboard. Yes, a horrid explanation, but I have no clue what the English word for it is, since I'm running Danish OS.
go here for a few fixes

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=507768
same happened to me today, and it came back after doing the regedit fix
i found that the change to T9 mode in advance config or HDtweak was what was causing it to come back
have now disabled all the T9 options throughout and seems to have stayed put
How do I completely remove t9 from full qwerty? I dont even want to see the little bar that appears when I begin to type.
Thanks

Go to touch input settings and uncheck everything.
I did, I no longer get suggestions but the knob or switch is on T9 by default when I begin to type and I get the bar above that duplicates whats being typed (in an sms for example).

Hmm strange sorry man I got nothin. Maybe disable supportmssip in hklm/software/tegic/et9 ?
Ok I noticed that its on ABC not t9 when I attempt to enter text on tasks for note for example, but text entry in sms is set to t9 by default. Weird, shoulndt it be consistent between applications.

[Q] Cant get rid of compact keyboard

Hi All
Bit of a silly problem this.
I flashed my HTC HD2 with a Windows embedded handheld ROM a couple of years ago. I haven't used this phone for ages and have no idea which ROM I flashed.
Anyway, it all worked fine until one day, I found I was using the compact keyboard (2 letters / key) and I cant find a way to get rid of it and return to the normal keyboard)
IIRC originally there was an input selector icon below the keyboard. But on this ROM all I get below the keyboard are
Windows, Done, Keyboard, cancel, OK
I've tried settings>personal>Input where this is an option for phone keypad and compact qwerty but it is not selected and changing it seems to make no difference to the keyboard in use.
Its driving me nuts so can anyone tell me how I get my regular keyboard back?
TFAI
tap & hold perhaps to top of keyboard icon or slightly to left or right perhaps !
If only . . . .!!
I've almost worn a hole in that part of the screen!!
Normally it tap & hold for about half a second slightly to right on the keyboard.
Perhaps try it with keyboard open or closed.
Could also try tap & slide to left on keyboard icon with keyboard open .
If all fails you could do a search for a sip selector tool that can be used for toggling through sips or use sipchange & select sip you want & set delay to 8sec & soft reboot & it should have loaded your chosen sip once booted.

Tap and hold to the right brought up a Text Input settgins window (hopeful but closer examination showed it onoy contained XT9 settings, a tutorial on text input and 'Symbol Lock' + 'Typing Sound'
.
Could also try tap & slide to left on keyboard icon with keyboard open ..

That brought up a single small pane which had 'Touch Input' and a green circle.
Then touch and hold that made it go away
Then touch to the left of the keyboard icon produced the desired menu !!
I mean WoW, how is anyine supposed to work that out!!!
Anyway I donwloaded the cab in case I get stuck again
Thanks for the advice
Glad you worked it out :-S
Is a bit out of the usual on your ROM.
Really needed a more detailed sip icon so was intuitive of left/right tap zones :-/
Most proper roms have htc ezsip built in which also can have a shortcut in programs for activating a full sip selection menu.
if you decide you want a change/improvement I would recommend the NRG custom ROM, link below should you ever want try it.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/bhh47jlowm9zph6/Energy.Leo.23699.Sense2.5.Reference.Nov.24.7z
Another one I remembered for sip selection was vjsipswitch.
this pops up a sip menu from shortcut in programs, you can also make advanced shortcuts to select specific sip or have toggle effect
cab & thread link below to round this thread off nicely for anyone who stumbles on it.
