How can you view notes from desktop pc when universal is connected through sync. and how can I make new notes to default saved in a specific folder in the SD Card.
Thanks
if you want your notes to sync, you cant put them on the SD card, mutually exclusive. so far as I know, nothing on the sd card will sync to pc, only by direct manual copy.
i dont know of a way to have notes go to a specific folder.
thanks,
I need to view the notes directly so when I am organising them I dont have to open them on my XDA and move with the pc.
you can see and make new ones in Outlook
just make sure you choose notes to sync with activesync
Notes Sync from your devices My Documents folder, and all sub folders within, having them syncing in outlook makes them appear like :
business\note about notes
but on the phone you just have to goto the business folder within my documents,
outlook even opens the hand written ones fine aswell
thanks

Hi all,
I've tried a search for a solution, but couldn't find it immediately:
I've a lot of contacts divided over subfolders in my Outlook. Apparently activesync does not work with subfolders: huh!?
Is there a new version I can download?
I really need the different maps, I can't work with categories
Regards
Koen
I don't think this is possible. I had the same problem as you.
What I did is to organize my contacts "by category" so instead of using sub folders assigning each contact to a specific category in Outlook. You can then view them in Outlook "by category" and filter in Windows Mobile by category.
I agree that this is a serious problem. With some of my contacts I've gone into Outlook (that I sync with) and placed a zz_ at the front of the "File As:" entry.
Then at least all of these contacts will be at the bottom of my list.
The other thing I've done is created an excel spread sheet (or even an html file) with a list of contacts that I don't want on my main list and copied that file to my phone. Sometimes I open that to find names and then copy and paste it into my phonebook.
Welcome to Activesync! This goes right back to the first Pocket PCs, Microsoft have shown no iterest in adding this functionality.
The only way you can do this is by using different sync software, which maps folders in outlook to categories on your phone. Works well for me.

Which alternate sync software are you using?

Hi All
Yes I know this answer is a little late... But it might help others
If you want to Sync MS Outlook's Contact Sub Folders you need - Chapura PocketMirror Professional
I've used it for many years and excellent bit of kit (only used with office 2003)
Just checked online and they have gone 'bust' but I still have the software & in daily use - PM me if req'd
I have a lot of favorites in Firefox which I was trying to transfer to htc hd2, so far no luck.
First I export favorites to html, then import html to Internet explorer, move all favorites inside the "Favorite" folder which is the one that phone uses. After I sync the phone with pc I do get some favorites, but many that have been inside folders are dissapearing. After more syns, even more favorites are dissapearing.
Does anyone know a reliable way to transfer favorites to phone?
So far I got two ideas, either add all favorites manually one by one and disable syncing or simply copy the bookmarks.html file over to phone and then use favorites through it.
Maybe someone figured out how to sync properly, though?
Your favourites need to be in the Mobile Favourites folder in IE.
I have the same problem with Mobile Favorites, sometimes they are deleted on the device after sync.

Yes I do know that.
The problem is if you place favorites in mobile favorites and you have sub folders in that folder then after you sync only some favorites from sub folders get synced, and with each sync more and more are getting deleted.
Example
Mobile favorites
link1
link2
link3
link4
link5
folder1
link6
link7
folder2
link8
folder3
link9
After syncing links 1-5 are synced normally, folders are synced as well, but links that are in folders 1,2 and 3 are not synced, or dissapearing after consequent syncs.
I understand your problem now that you've explained it.
Hi there,
Does Android offer something like Microsoft MyPhone where you can backup and manage contacts and calendar events? I've seen several independent software companies making something like this but I'm not crazy about leaving my contacts on some unknown server. I'd be more comfortable with Google or Android or even if I could continue using MyPhone. Maybe there's something like PIMBackup that will hold everything ina compressed file on my SD card?
Any help would be great guys. Thanks!
Based on your sync preferences you can manage your contacts and calendar being backed up.
You can backup your contacts onto your sd card (press menu ad select import/export and choose export to SD card) and for the calendar you can use your gmail calendar so that you can view it both on phone and computer via internet, just make sure your sync settings are set to sync the calendar
Is there a way to synch ONLY the 'sent items' folder via ActiveSync or do you have to also keep copies of the various messages from Outlook also on your phone?
Bump. Anyone?
connect phone to pc, on pc open windows mobile device center, click mobile device settings - change content sync settings - email sync settings - untick the folders you dont want and tick those you do (sent items in this case)
Sorry, I think I didn't express that well. I want to synchronize only the sent items from my phone to Outlook on the desktop so that I can preserve any replies I send from the road while having the original message downloaded to my desktop when I return home. The settings you describe will only synch MS Outlook items with the 'Outlook' folder on my PC, and the accounts I set up on my phone do not appear in the folder tree to be selected. So that configuration won't work for me.
It seems that no combination of what I want is possible with the current software, yet I can't believe I'm the only one with this need.
Let me explain.
I use Outlook on my desktop and only use the phone for reading and replying to messages on-the-fly. Knowing that I will have a copy of the POP message on my laptop (which serves as my home pc also) when I get back at night, I only want to file and keep a copy of any replies I make from the road. My hope was to have any sent items uploaded to my laptop, I can run rules on MS Outlook to autofile to their respective folder structures, and I'm done - both received POP messages and their corresponding replies are preserved.
I own a copy of FlexMail, but it won't synch with Outlook, so that's not a solution. And there doesn't seem to be anything else out there that'll do what I need.
Any thoughts?
Bump. Anyone?
Guys, just to reiterate the question...
How would you get (move/copy/backup) messages from the local email accounts you set up on your HD2, to your Outlook PST on the desktop?
I have read all the posts and downloaded the Power Suite on my computer (or what ever it is called) I have tried various recommendations made on this board and others, but can not find a way to sync
I have even put Contacts in Drop Box, but it is unreadable in Drop Box from the Transformer, as you need to click on the names to open it, and I only get an error message when I do this.
Is there any other application out there that someone has tried and works with Windows Contacts (not Outlook) Much appreciated.
If you can export them as a vCard file, then move it to the tablet (Not sure where, I would try both the MicroSD and internal memory), you should be able to import them from within the contacts app under Options-> Import/Export
Export contacts to Google Contacts. Then sync contacts on TF with Google contacts. Remember Google and Microsoft are competitors, they don't want to make it easy to switch.
