I need help with ViJay key press - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi VJ, I looked on your list but I cant find the correct #'s for the L and R softkey can you or anyone else help me please. thank you

Chakra: I just wrote appoximately a page's worth of answer why this wasn't possible. Then I had an idea
It's keys 112 and 113, left and right respectively
I love it when I prove myself wrong...
V

that doesnt seem to be working

What device are you using? 112 and 113 are for the Universal.
V

I have a KJAM

Can someone else test this. I'd be surprised it the Universal and Wizard had different keypresses. Chakra, if no one else has any luck, I'll send you a little program later to help us figure it out. I'm going out tonight, but PM me if I forget.
V

I am using ae button plus 2.1 allong with your vijay key press. I have asigned the right softkey to have three functions one press, two press, and three press. when I use vjkeypress 113 for the first press i get the reaction of the second press. and when I am in anouther program the softkey does nothing. maybee this has to do with ae not vjkeypress. I am just looking for a way to use the right softkey while also using the second and third functions when I want????

Chakra, I think that makes all the difference. I think AE Button Plus is simulating button presses, and VJKeyPress is simulating button presses, and it won't be pretty.
Try it without AE Button first, and then try playing with the order of your keypresses. It's not an ideal solution though I imagine.
V

Ill try it thanks.

For what it's worth... the key codes for an HTC Wizard WIZA200 are:
Volume slider Down : 118 (left side of device, near top)
Volume slider Up : 117 (left side of device, near top)
Comm Manager : 198 (left side of device, very top)
Left soft key : 112
Right soft key : 113
Phone answer : 114
Phone hang-up : 115
The rest are just the regular up/down/left/right/action buttons and buttons 1 through 4 (messaging, internet explorer, voice commands/recorder, camera). Not sure what codes those technically carry.

Ctrl Key - Does it exist or how?

Has anybody worked out if the keyboard has a Ctrl key or a function that works like Ctrl , handy when quitting apps eg Ctrl Q.
Or editing.
I couldnt find it when I used the device.
Cheers
That's very strange because I have it on my MDA II's touchscreen keyboard. Are you talking about the touchscreen keyboard that you have to pop up by pressing the up arrow in the lower right-hand corner in the Messages app for instance?
I wonder whether this feature would also be ROM-dependent.
i meant the hard keyboard not sip. its on sip but when i used the universal i couldnt see it.
Yes I am interested in the Ctrl button on the universal as well, I owned a XDAIIs and found the keyboard on that didn't have the Ctrl key either so you can't do CUT/COPY or paste unless there is another way. I cut and paste heaps so the keyboard was useless to me on the XDAIIs.
Any one know if there is another way to do this on the Universal Keyboard.
what a wind up this is, cant believe they missed the ctrl button off the proper keyboard.
The keyboard has Cut/copy/paste function, so I am happy.
Jasjar is the most awesome PPC Phone yet.
there is a screen tap key (a bit like the right mouse click key on a full computer) this brings up the menu option, with copy and cut in it !! then you can just pres the relevant letter on the keyboard, thus having the same effect (ie press a function key then C or T or V).
PS its Fn [Space] key
cool... i wondered what that key did! that is useful!
[ctrl] is used for more things than copy+paste.
I use my Exec to communicate with *NIX servers using Pocket PuTTY. [ctrl] is kind of essential.
Agree, using putty is a nightmare without a ctrl key. Is there any way of mapping another key to do the same function

Vijay555 - how to set a right SHIFT key?

Hi Vijay, I try your keypress utility on my Universal. However, have problems setting a "shift" key on the videocall hard botton. I changed the value to 16 according to the keylist. Any advice on this? Thanks.
stanip: this should be moved to the VJKeyPress thread...
VJKeypress can be used to simulate a key press, but for shift, it's like on your pc, just pressing shift and releasing. It won't do anything. I imagine what you want to do is simulate pressing and holding shift, to make CAPITALS. It doesn't do that.
I did make a set of programs to do this, pressing and holding shift, ctrl and alt, but I didn't release them because Tom Hiro's PQz came along and is an amazingly useful program. Try Tom's PQz, and if you get really stuck I'll see about releasing my app. Mine works usefully on non Universals as well, eg Magician (my main phone), but there are issues with the way the Operating System responds to having these keys held down, so it wasn't worth finishing off at the time.
V
Vijay, PQz is a great tool but I failed to find any feature to set a "shift" key for capital letters... Have been looking for this as I use Word quite often. The right shift key will save me the thumb stretch reaching out to the other side. Thanks.
stanip: it might be worth asking Tom to add any features you want, he's actively updating it seems!
I will look into the Shift key issue again, but I'm a bit busy on a few other projects. It might happen soon if I can get it out.
V
Vijay, already suggested to Tom... believe he is prioritizing it. Initially thought the keypress could solve this one faster.
It would be great if yours could help with this request.

X01HT problem with keys

I have the X01HT with the mobile 6 pro black 2.5 rom
and some of my keys seem to be mapped differently
for example key F has the ? but if I hold down the fuction key and F I get a dash instead which is key S right beside it
same thing with key E and the @ sign
is there any way to remap my keyboard ?
thanks

I need some help with the softkeys please.

I have just downloaded GFDOOM for my Wizard and it runs great. However the key layout is just not working for me. I have managed to find an ASCII sheet for virtual keyboards that lets me assign the keyboard keys to the functions that I would like however I would also like to give it a try with out using the keyboard as the key spacing is not too suited to gaming. I would like to assign the voice and camera keys to left and right strafe and the IE key to fire. The problem is that I dont know the key code for those keys.
An example of the keys:
Calendar = A
Contacts = B
Messages = C
IE = ??? (its not D)
The same goes for voice and camera, I dont know the key for those buttons. If someone knows the answer or knows if they have an ASCII character code, I would appreciate the help ending this headache.
I have only had a PPC for about two weeks now so Im very new at all of this. Please be gentle. I have attached GameFreaks readme for the key assignment along with the ASCII code list I found below, maybe you can make more out of it then I can.

Add additional key combinations to keyboard

Hi All,
Is there any way to add key combinations to the hardware keyboard so I can have a backslash "\" and an underscore "_" ....and maybe some others?
If not, does anyone know whether another country keyboard layout might have these keys included?
TIA
adding to this ideea , would be grat if it would exist key combinations for Wi-Fi(on/off) , Bluetooth (on/off), ON/OFF system settings in general.
It is quite easily to change/add any letter/symbol to the "àü" key. Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447989
Ahm, have a look at my X1ButtonMapper or JKingDev's X1BC
Looked at both and running X1BC right now. X1BC does not handle Fn+Key combinations and X1ButtonMapper re-maps the tab button which, I THINK, may be configurable or changed in a future version of the software.
I think a future version of either will address all my issues but I just need something now......might try the au key solution.
Cheers
EDIT: adding keys with the "àü" key has worked very well and I'll stick with that for the backslash and underscore.....of course I still need X1BC for the "Start" button and the Comm Manager
Having a key combination for "special" characters is Built-In Already!!
Just use the "áü" key!!
i.e. type a "-" then the áü, will give you a "_"
"\ + áü will give you a"/"
BTW if you keep tapping the áü key will cycle through a group of symbols!!

Hey, very good to know, thanks! Are there more of these combinations, e.g. for %, € etc?

I just played around and I found the aü key very useful right now
Still missing % and € though, but I can have that with my X1ButtonMapper and Mortscript. \ and _ with the aü button give me two free FN+key combos, very nice!

As it says in the thread listed above, you can create your own combinations. However, the aü button doesn't seem to work in forms with Opera. I assume a FN+key combo would so when a version of X1ButtonManager comes out that doesn't remap the tab key I might give that another try.
I won't remap another key for Ctrl in X1Buttonmapper other than Tab. The reason is, that I often press tab by accident which is really annoying, remapped to ctrl is only executing anything when pressed together with another key.
In addition to that, Tab is completely replaced by the left and right keys of the DPad since WM5. Also, Remapping SYM is impossible for technical reasons and remapping Win causes many side effects as seen wit XBC.
I wanted to remap Fn+Tab = Tab but that didn't work and I still have to look into it why. X1ButtonMapper might get a small update with that but it may take some time.
