TomTom 5.2 - Cant navigate menus? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Ok, I have TomTom 5.2 running perfectly but cannot get the up,down, left, right buttons to work when navigating the menus. The touch screen also does not allow you to select anything on the menus.
The only way I can see to select different options is by using the keyboard arrow keys, which is annoying as the TomTom screen does not rotate when the keyboard is slid out.
Do I need to edit some key mapping file or registry entry?
Any help or ideas much appreciated.
ROM: 1.6.2.4 WWE
ROM Date: 11/15/05
Radio: 01.12.10
Protocol: 4.0.13.23
ExtRom: 1.6.2.105

sounds like an installation problem to me,
can you use the up,down.left.right buttons on the nav screen? should give you volume up/down (left, right) zoom in/out (up, down)
ps on menu screens i can only use left and right.

Darn, the left and right buttons dont work in the normal mode either. It must be an installation problem then as you say.

Have you installed Tomtom5 Mobile(smartphone) by anychance instead of TomTom5 Navigator (pda)?
As I've heard this is possible but without touchscreen support etc..

Ah ha, Yes, I am using the same version I had on my C500 SmartPhone. I assumed you had to install the Mobile version as it has Windows Mobile OS, not Window Pocket PC OS.

Button lock for WM2003?

Thanks to everyone for a great site!
Has anyone figured out how to lock all the buttons except the power button in WM2003 4.00.05? The setting is not in the "phone/..more" tab anymore. I've spent about 4 hours looking everywhere and I just can't find a way. I carry this in my pocket a lot so it would be great to have this feature again. Thanks - Jim
I did not find it in 4.00.10. There is no Tab "More" in Options of the Phone-app.
René
I couldn't find the setting on my 4.00.05 either, so I just edited the registry to say:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\KeyLock]
KeyLock=DWORD:00000001
which works..
odd, on the new tmobile 4.00.10, there still remains the "more" tab.
how come.. I have a MORE Tab in the Phone App. menu which has the feature to lock all buttons except the power button. I am running T-Mobile 2003 4.00.10 with RSU upgrade.
press green call button then on the dialer screen press tools then go into options.
then there is a more tab click that and then there it is.
im on v4.0.0.5 so it should be on yours too but then again im in the uk? might be different? :?:
I'm using the T-Mobile 4.0.10 now and the more tab is there. I don't know why it wasn't on the 3.17 cooked rom. I'm happy now, Now I'm playing with the embedded VC++ 4.0 to writea small app using GPS data. Thanks - Jim

Could you please do a screen dump post of this please. I am unable to get this to work. I think it is mostly me. I have tried a few ways of interpreting what you have written,, but been unsuccessful.
Please could you re-write the exact string for a dummy!
Thanks

Screen dumps and exact sequences would depend on what registry editor you would use. You'll have to find this key using a registry editor of you choice, and then locate the KeyLock value under it, and change it from all zeroes to 1 (or 00000001: doesn't matter).
Then soft-reset the machine (I think it needed that, not sure...), and the keylock is on.
You can do it...

I hope so!!
Heres what's happening, and what I've done.
I'm looking in Settings; Phone; then there should be a more tab correct?
I'm using the PHM registry Editor, which is in the ppc2k3 rom I obtained through one of the forums.
I go to:
-My Device
-HKEY_LOCAL_USER
-ControlPanel
-Keylock
Then on bottom of screen click "edit"
"New DWORD Value"
Value name = "KeyLock"
Value Data = "1"
Base = "Decimal"
I then soft reset, and the tab doesn't appear. I must be doing something simple wrong?
I look forward to the XDA-ROM SE based on ppc2k3, with everything ironed out like this....
Martin
I see the misunderatnding now. No, this doesn't make the tab appear: it turns on the keylock straight away.
Yep it works
Thanks.
Just pressed the buttons with the screen off. It won't come on. Only comes on with the stand by button. Great, perfick!!
Thanks, Martin.
PS, Something to be added to the FAQ...
thought it was fixed..
Yes this seems to have fixed the problem, but..
Sometimes you press the button and it still comes on. When this happens the screen is blank for a second or two, then proceeds to load very slowly. Almost as though its fighting the urge to load up.
Is this a common thing?
Keylock does not work for me :-(
Hi Folks!
Tried this Registry Key on my german T-Mobile MDA Compact but it did not work!
Is this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\KeyLock]
"KeyLock"=dword:00000001
the right way?
any ideas?

Easily rotate teh screen

Is there anyway to easily rotate the screen on the prophet (besides turning it around in your hand) other than going into settings display and changing it there?
Ive tried the registry changes to add an icon but they dont seem to work.
thanks
Try PHM key tools.
V
Well i just figured out i can do it using the built in buttons app in settings  but i ideally want to keep all the existing buttons. For now ive mapped "Comm manager hold" to rotate but I want to add another button cnofig i.e OK button hold that would rotate.
I have found the registry keys which control the buttons but need some assistance in understanding them. I can copy an existing key and with a bit of fiddling have "Button 6" appear in my buttons panel but I need help configuring it to map to a button and function in the correct manner
Hello
The Orange SPV M600 came with a little desktop icon, everytime you touch it, it rotates the screen landscape portrate, left right etc.
I am guessing it operates the built in system settings. I found a CAB in the Orange Extended Rom, if it will work, I do not know, you take the risk.
I have included it here for you to try.
It Works!

Thanks 'NewSPV'. I lost this functionality when I upgraded from the M600 Rom to the Dopod ROM. Glad to have this back, as it also frees up the re-mapped 'Communication Manager' button I used to Rotate the screen.
Hi,
I installed MoDaCo screen rotate on my Qtek s200.
I finally have an icon on my Today screen!
One little drawback tho, everytime I tap the screen icon it rotates 90 degr. to the left. So the second time I tap it's upside down in landscape. The third tap brings it back to normal portrait mode.
I had hoped it just would rotate left or right and then back left or right.
Now I have to turn my phone to find the icon.
Edward
NewSVP Thanks for the CAB. Works great.
nypra1314, how is the MoDaCo screen rotate different than the M600 cab? Also where did you find MoDaCo's? I searched the forums but no sucess.
Hi niker,
I will try the M600 cab later today.
The MoDaCo cab, I found also in this forum. didn't know it until I installed. In ActiveSync\ Software it is mentioned as MoDaCo.
Thanks!! Will give MoDaCo's version now.. Cheers!
pt_screenrotate acts the same as ScreenRotate from MoDaCo. :-(
One other drawback tho, I can't locate it in software installations, to remove it, because PT is 88Kb and SR is only 42!
How do I uninstall PT_ScreenRotate please?
Edward
try AEButton
phoneAlarm has a nice little exe in it's directory called rotate.exe which flips between landscape and portrait, rather than going from right handed landscape, upside down, left handed landscape and back to portrait.
I'd post it here, but I'm sure it's copyright software. You'd probably get it in the trial version.
Wisbar 2 has function to rotate screen , with it installed you can set a hardware button to rotate portrait/landscape
On my M600 I just hold the Comm Manager button to rotate screen...

TomTom7 Screen rotation

I know GSen will rotate TT7, but not all ROMs are compatible.
Strikes me as odd that TT7 will note natively rotate to landscape in the same way Opera or HTC Album does. Especially given that when in landscape mode the TT7 screen is arguably better layed out than in portrait. Seems no accident and TomTom surely have designed it to lay out nicely in Landscape. Further I read that this build is designed for use on the Diamond which the programmers must know has a GSensor.
To this end what are the chances of this capability actually being in TT7 now but not activated. Slim chance I suppose.
I tried playing with
HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Tom Tom Navigator
adding keys such as
"rotate"=dword:00000001
"EnableRotateScreen"=dword:00000001
"EnableLandscape"=dword:00000001
and various others I dreamed up.
No Joy.
Are there any Alternatives to GSen to get the TT7 screen to go landscape?
Is this an oversight by TomTom or intentional?
Try this:
Change your registry to enable screen rotation:
HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation - HideOrientationUI (Change from 1 to 0)
Then, map your button to the rotation tweak:
Settings -> Buttons -> Map with <Rotate Screen>
When you would like to rotate your screen, just hold your Phone button.
I use this for Voda's SatNav, works very well.
Mate you are a bloody legend. Works a treat. Thank you so much for that. Will definitely be filing that little tip away as a keeper for future reference.
Big 10x!
What a simple solution to a very painful issue
tt7 landscape

It works perfectly with tt7 on diamond. Just tuch one icon.
Where exactly (which folder?) you stored the script? Was there a need to make changes, as there is no "storage card" in the Diamond?

Simply great. Add it to the tweaks thread!
The registry method works great for me as well. Yet if you look on the attached thread (suggested by Corona):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=288167&page=2
There might be a better solution via this script. I was wondering if it works for TT7. I failed to check as I need some installation guide (i do not know what exactly to do with the mortscript to make it work).

WM6.5.x 'X' / 'OK' Button problem and camera initiation failure.

Hi brothers..
I'm Andy, new chef @ the iPAQ 6828 division. I would like to have advices for some problems I've found on 23XXX builds.
1. WM6.5.x OK button problem
Some menus in the were dead ends. I've found few on these:
If I enter those menus, I can't tap the X button to exit or assign the menu from the screen.
I can easily fix this by assigning a hardware button (on 6828) as the OK button but, tapping with no response still a problem. Is there any fix for these.
I found the same problem with HTC Kaiser AhmedFikry ROM WM6.5.5 Build 23577. But Kaiser has an OK button on it...
2. Camera
On the new builds I can't run my camera. It says "Failed to initiate Camera", and than the camera closes itself. I suspect there's some files in the SYS that I shall edited before I add the camera drivers and OEM on the ROM. Is there any files or modules which shall be edited inside the SYS Packages?
3. SPB Keyboards
I can install SPB Keyboards, but I can't use it due to some errors in the option. Device got stuck everytime I enter the Keyboard option in the control panel. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I would be very grateful for any advices...

Photo Album not working

Gday Guys/Girls,

Rom Ver: 1.72.841.0
Radio Ver: 2.07.51.22_2

I hope someone might be able to shed some light on my problem. I have just purchased the HD2 (awesome phone), and am loving tweaking little bits. I have around 1000 pictures on the sd card, and the standard 9 htc photos on the phone. But when i use the slider at the bottom to the photo and videos tab, there is nothing there, however when i check in the photos file using Resco, i can see all the photos there, (does that make sense??)..lol... Very confusing.
I can see the photos if i go into settings>album, but not if i use the slider.. ??
I have installed the following on my phone so far: (not sure if there is a conflict):
1. Microsoft.NET CF3.5
2. Cookies Home tab
3. Vicsoft Cleartemp
4. Step2p Currency Keyboard
5. Google maps
6. Kurniawan77 Leo Navipanel

12. smaberg white 1 percent battery
13. touch x transparent slider

20. Touch X datadisconnect toggle
21. Touch X Faster Manila Tweaks
22. Touch x reset and wifi
23. cookie hqwallpaper patch
24. jcm development chteditor
quite a mouthful, but can anyone help,
Thanks very much guys.
Mark
Hi, I am facing the same issue and was going to create a new thread today for it but you beat me to it.
On the "Photos & Videos" tab, it was a blank page although on the side it said "1/13". The pictures were all okay definitely not blank.
I noted that hitting the "Menu" softkey did not evoke any response.
Another thing I noted was when slided to "Footprints" and then back to "Photos & Videos" tab, the softkeys from "Footprints" stayed on.
For the moment, I am suspecting that co0kie Home Tab v1.7.1 is the caused. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6222344&highlight=photos+videos#post6222344
Gday Zenturi
Thanks for that mate, yeah cud quite possibly be the problem, i have recently had to do a complete system restore, due to some bad data on the handset, and had to reinstall all the programs mentioned above, but since doing this, i have encountered the problem, not sure how to correct it really, but am i right in thinking there is a cookieshome tab 1.7.2 now..??
I just resolved this issue.
It was caused by a particular tweak, "TX Total Landscape cab", that some postings reported about messing up the "Photos & Videos" tab and others.
The "Photos & Videos" tab is now back to normal after removing this tweak.
Gday Zentury
Thanks for that, but unfortunately i do not have that cab installed, and have never installed it, so not sure why. I have just wiped the phone and reloaded everything back one at a time, and this time seems to be fine...
Technology eh...lol... Awesome, glad u sorted urs though....
