Wizard Repair Guide?! Mines Broken :(

Hey Guys,
Well, I'm a bit gutted really! I dropped my XDA Mini S on the floor with the charger in and the connector IN the phone has come apart from inside the phone. The little metal bit is practically hanging out. I'm wondering, if i were to take the phone apart could i re-connect the little part? (I have a soldering iron if thats as simple as its going to be?)
Just wondering if anyone had any guides on how to take the phone apart and take a look at whats wrong?
Any help would be so much appreciated!
Many Thanks,
Tom
The service manual is hosted on the ftp site.

Hope this helps.
I suspect you probably broke the socket off, but if you have a soldering iron, you might as well try to get a new mini USB connector to work with.
You might try Pocket PC Techs:
http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~UTStarcom_XV6700-554~area~repairs~item~REP-USBCON01~name~UTStarcom+XV6700+Mini+USB+Connector+Replacement+Service.htm
I rang them up about an issue I had (screen on the fritz) and they seemed pretty knowledgeable and helpful.
Alternatively there's a company I found today in the UK. I can't vouch if they're good or not.

Good luck.
Well I also have an issue with my wizzard... the mini jack connector (of the handsfree) is a bit loose.
What I am saying is that it does have a good connection with the rest of the circuit and sometimes the sound of the speaker goes off, then I have to insert the habdsfree and tickle it a little bit until it has a good contact.
? have some basic soldering experience,do you think I should give it a try?
Given my device has been apart too many times for me to admit to I thought I'd crack it open to take a pic for you guys. Not sure if this pic will help for those wanting to do some soldering:
Very large pic: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/216/452691530_f47801708f_o.jpg
Excuse the dust.
Ah! That picture at the bottom is exactly what I needed. The metal but at the bottom (the big sqaure) has totally sheared off....bloody thing. Thanks so much for the info on the repair guides. I may give those repair guys a call if i can't get it to work myself.
Thanks alot you guys
As for you WizeMan, it all depends on if you wish to void your warrenty or not. At the end of the day, I installed WM6 on my device so O2 would give me the finger if i tryed to claim. If I'm honest, I'm getting an upgrade next month so I'm not to bothered if I balls it up! Would be nice if I got it working though....
Lemmie know how you get on

Let me tell you my news, my friends.
I opened my Qtek 9100 and fixed two serious issues regarding this phone, using... sponge (the one we use to wash the dishes)
1. I put some into the stylus socket (from the thin space it has) and also
2. On the top of the mini jack socket so when i assembled the housing it blocked it from moving (2 of the contacts are no more soldered and i dint have a soldering iron at that time)
Anyway, both operation went ok and my phone is more than fully functioning. Now the stylus is hardly (in a good way) comming out (it first gets longer then comes out).
I wanted to do also the safe singal fix, but didnt find the photos to apply it correclty, so if someone has them, please give link. If you need any info about the "Sponge" Hacks, just post or pm

I'm still trying to get the a new fascia and will probably shove an eraser bit into the stylus spring mechanism to ensure the defect never happens. Also how did you discover the break in the solder joints on the headphones jack? I have a funny situation where the left channel of the headphones doesn't work but I suspected the headphones (the plug has to be pulled at an angle to get any sound out of the left) but now I am thinking it may be the socket itself.
By the way the reception fix pic doesn't load for me either but I unless you truly need it, don't waste your time doing it; I always have all 4 bars and sometimes have 2 bars.

Allright here is the deal.
1. I found out the break in the soldier joints when i opened it. I was really suspicious about it because when i inserted my headphone jack into the connector, i had problem with the contact; the connector was loose and it muted my phones speaker. When i disassembled the phone using the service manual i saw with my eyes that the the joins where f-ed up.
2. I dont really need the signal hack i just wanted to experiment, i have 2.25.11 cingular radio rom and its great.
Btw i suppose you should better use the sponge, because the rubber may wear off but not the sponge...
Thanks for the tip on the sponge. I am going to grab a used but allegedly "like new" body from eBay and also get one of those covers as well.

think your speaker is broken. can you play other sounds? like a mp3
Your problem isn't a software one, most likely it's a hardware issue.
Check this.

Let me help you I had the same problem it was hardware not software but I fixed by applying pressure to the phone speakers uses a small peace of paper and leave the paper in to apply pressure it will trust me ok
Hi, same happened to me too, flashed a new rom and suddenly no sound, flashed another still nothing. It was the hardware problem described earlier, I cut a small peice of cloth to apply pressure to the speaker now works fine.
The rom flashing and sound stopping must have just been a coincidence.
guys,
the prophets speaker is very thin. whilst applying pressure will work short term (it did for me for a month or so) it will eventually fail.
Whislt it still works, search ebay and for about £5 or $8 you can buy a new one along with tools to remove the casing properly. It took me twenty minutes to do the whole thing... search google for how to remove the casing, you can find it easily.
The only thing you have to take care is when removing the back cover is to use tweezers to unplug the speak cable from the main board oryou may damage the socket.
But dont stress its quite easy and im no brain surgeon

[Q] external antenna ruined

Well dont I feel a little stupid! Got really excited about having reception in my home after 2 years of
poor reception. Tried placing a bit of wire into the external antenna socket on my Galaxy Note2. Didnt quite fit so I use a pin quite vigorously to make the hole bigge! DER! Of course now I have aboslutely no reception. What to do now? Can anyone help. Waiting for a phone repairer to get back to me. Ive read somewhere where someone took the antenna completely off, bypassing the socket altogether & replacing with a thin wire, another where they fill the hole with solder. What is the best thing to do? Thanks in advance for any help.

Had the same on my Le Pro 3 after a dive in my swimming pool
I solved this problem by changing the whole board module, it contains the 2 mics (multimedia+phone) + charging port.
If you want to do it, you certainly have to buy a new screen also and have desoldering 2 wires from the speaker and resoldering back on the new board.
Here is the board I bought:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...034.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.48d74c4dxSCKI8
You'll find a lot of different displays at different prices too.
Good luck

https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/help/le-pro-3-x720-microphone-doesnt-calls-t3867413
What do you recommend me do to? To buy new board (the one you showed) would fix the issue?
i just dont understand the part "buying new screen" . My screen works totaly fine, why do we need to change? Can we not put it back by a special glue (for screens) ?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Sorry for your phone, it's hard to say it's related to the mic board because it's working after the reboot... but maybe it's a question of temperature... for the money that this board costs, you can give a try.
Now, why the screen? because I'm quite sure that when you will remove your screen, you'll damage it. Or I'm really bad for that I opened it two times and broke it two times  I also bought a B7000 special glue.
I hope you'll find a fully working phone soon.

You are right, the only way to successfully remove the screen is carefully with a Heat gun. But long enough that the screen will fall off, when you tilt it to the side. The heat shield will also have residual glue.

Wifi/Gps/GSM signal strenght issue [Almost FIXED]

Hey guys. Here are a probably fix for wi-fi/sim/gps signal strenght problem after changing the touch or anything similar that needs to disassembly the Mimax2. Well, i found 2 solutions for the problem, but i need someone that understand about hardware to help us. The problem begins when you disassembly the phone, and the pins of the antenna dont plug correctly at the back of the phone. Here are the First solution (that didn't works for me, but maybe works for you):
The video is based in put on the pin a tinfoil to improve the connection with the back cover. I guess that the contact in back cover of my MM2 is very weak, so didnt work for me.
The solution number two is based in connect a copperwire on the pins or on Motherboard to make a homemade antenna. Maybe this way work for me and for who dont have success in the First guide. But as i said previously, i need someone to say If the connections in the pics are correctly. Those pics was found in a telegram group. Some guy made and send them.
Well, if anybody here help me, i'll probably make a video solving the problem. That may help a lot of people having the same problem (they think is a ROM issue, but isnt). I Just need to know where EXACTLY i have to plug the copperwires (fear of burn some peripheal) , and do the tests.
This is ridiculous. Just peel the old antenna out of the old screen, separate the new screen, and put the real antenna in.
You might ask, what is the antenna? Well, there's actually two in one piece of the phone. It's a sticker that the two gold contacts on the original screen were on. The main body is behind the glass, stuck to the plastic. Carefully peel those ends with the gold contact pads up, then from the other side, peel off the sticker they are a part of. The holes are there in all the screens, you just need to carefully push the ends back through with tweezers, then re-glue the glass to the plastic.
It's not easy, but it's not a copper wire hanging out of your phone either.
