I just reall don't see what all the fuss is about. If I buy a blackberry I can get push email by adding on the £12.77/mth instant email package.
If I want to do it on my Exec, I have to have £700 Exchange or similar configured on a server, and pay someone a monthly fee for exchange hosting on top of that (I think?)...?
I work in O2 sales, and they were training us in the update the other day, but the vast majority of our SME customers won't have Exchange + Win Server. To be honest, it makes more sense to simply check your email every 10 minutes automatically for most people...
Am I way off base here, am I missing something??
i have exchange and windows server.
i want push email as it will simply alert me when an email hits my inbox and i dont need to watse time connecting and checking all day

Most people don't have exchange and server running though.... and there's no wasting time involved in setting your exec once to check mail automatically on a set schedule.
I just think too many people are getting excited over this for nothing.
I'd have said that A2DP was more important for most.
@belfast biker,
I'm with you. I was an IT Manager (as well as a Management Consultant) a few years ago with a small company. The Consultants wanted Black Berry devices with Push email. I said it was not worthwhile (even though we did use MS Exchange, a Black Berry server would have been another £2500) and so I set-up email downloads on their mobile phones and told them to check their emails when they had a spare moment. Guess what, most very happy with this solution as they did not to start their laptops and look for a dial-up point etc.
I used to have a blackberry. Its actually a great device in corporate mode, useless for personal (as it does not let you manage your main email acc, you have to set up an account with a provider so its a whole hassle). The main reason that push email is great is that, on the blackberry, you do nothing. then when email comes a green light flashes. You just brush a button and it shows you the subject. If you want to see the first few lines you just click another key, all instantaneous. If you want to see the whole email you click to download + attachments. I would love to have this facility on the universal. I expect that like the blackberry service providers will eventually offer a personal service (i.e. no BES or exchange server needed).
I'm quite happy with web based email on the universal however. I refused a blackberry from my company as I don't want to be working at 5 in the morning ...
Hi,
i have a verry annoying problem, and i am upset becuse our IT team cant solve it for a while, and they do not have any idea what to do. So. We have exchange server for emails, and it is possible to reach the outlook via web using https protocol. It is working with my PC from home, with my laptop from anywhere, with any PDA using Windows Mobile 2003 but it is not working with my QTEK and with my friends other PDA boot have WM 5 on that. The sympthomes: when i run IE with the neccesary adress https://sever name/exchange , first i hve to give my name and passw. Okay. It works. The outlook appears, and i see the headers of my messages. BUT! when i click one of the messages it asks the password again and again and again(3-4 times) and does not accept it and at the end i see : "Acces denied" on the right side(where the email should be).And the same happens everytime. We tried to use VPN connection too, but the same results. Nobody knows what should they do to solve it.
Many thanks for any help.
Try https://sever_name/oma instead
OMA? Why not EAS?
Is there any reason you arent using Exchange Activesync on your phone?
The Active Sync is not good in that case, because many times i need my old messages too(for example a year old ones) and i cant store all of my sent/received emails for 2 years on my PDA, with the attachments.
But i cant belive that it is only me, who suffers from that. Or for everybody els, the exchang outlook via web works perfectly?
Hello world!
I've got a big problem (big for me... obiously)
I connect my Kaiser to the Exchange server @ work and I sync all the mails with no problem.
The big prob is that I have more than 1 account that is checked and managed by my mail @ work, so I'm using rules to move the incoming mails to specific folders.
In this way, windows mobile shows me (in htc home) only the mails arrived to the root of mail structure, but it not shows me the others moved into the subfolders.
With FlexMail http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=mail& I can use a today plugin that shows me every new mail arrived.
But... is there another way not to have to install a 3rd party app to alert me when new mails arrived?
Or... is there another (and less invasive) app to have a "sign" that new mails are arrived?
Also because I'm waiting for the new Diamond and, as far as I know, the check mail will be the same of my "old" kaiser, so my fear is that I'll not able to know if new mail arrived.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP plz...
I hate the way of wm to check the mail...
Best regards,
Leo
edit: maybe a mortscript script? dunno if it's possible but...
I would love a solution to this too!
BUMP
no help? :'(
I think Flexmail or other 3rd party app is only solution...
Hi!
I need help in things which I don't seem o find a solutions for.
Ok, so here are the questions:
1. Regarding bloody Hotmail and sending emails - did anybody achieve it?
In my case after sync via Windows Live Panel, or just simply writing and sending email doesn't work. It's just crazy, I see the sent emails in the Sent folder and it's even on the PC version of ive, but mails go NOWHERE! Help!
2. Did anybody of you encountered any sending email problems from other accounts!
I have two accounts, one works good, the other does not send, although settings are correct and checked 100 times.
3. All of my accounts always show loading one message but it's not there - so when I have one new email, it loads two emails but I have only one new. When I have no new mails, it loads new message but it's not there (checked in the Outlook!)
4. One more strange thing - I uninstalled the programm which was set as a shortcut in pop menu on main screen. After uninstall this bloody shortcut cannot be removed, what to do??
Please help, these things drive me crazy.
Hope it's not too much to ask.
I'm new to WM actually, I used UIQ for years..
Rudegar,
Please, help..
hi welcome to xda developers from my-symbian. it seems that its your first experience in wm phones. my best phones were p910i an p1i. earlier I did not not like wm phones but with x1i i am 90% satisfied. most of the problems on wm phones are due to its os which has been only tweaked over the years without any substantial upgrade.
regarding questions 1to 3 since i do not use hotmail or other account for sending mail ,i may not be able to answer them. if u ask in Q&A thread in general section u may get better response as hotmail is common to all platforms.
4. use file explorer and go to windows/startmenu
shortcut must be there delete it.
u may read this it might help-

i just send a test mail from my hotmail account on phone to other account. there was no problem, there was a delay but that may be due to fact that i have setting for checking mails every 5 min interval.
dhiru
Deep thanks! You see I was UIQ user for years and now WM, I have to learn....
Thanks for the Menu - it was there!
Hotmail does not work although I was sending no problem mails from Hotmail on my PC to test!
Anyway thanks and please let me ask more sometimes!!
Best.

Hah! The thing seems more complicated.
It does NOT send any email to one of my accounts, however sends no problem to other ones. That's weird!!!
first if id like to say, sorry if the title is misleading
second, im still trying to figure out how to get true directpush gmail on the HD, ive been using wm for 4 years now....but since ive gotten the HD is when the push gmail is really starting to bother me, i mean yes, i can use owa to get my gmail, but its either manual sync, or interval sync. which is not true push mail. ive been able to use my hotmail account for push mail, obviously MS designed it this way that you can use it.
but still cannot find a way through owa or standalone wm to get push gmail
other thoughts here are;
-hotmail is capable of this obviously their parent company created the technology
-blackberry is capable of this because they have their BES server
-third party apps blow, so its not a true solution, i would perfer to have my emails between sender and me, rather than being filtered through by some third party app/company
if anyone has any kind of input or say, please feel free...
no one has a solution?
ive seen that there a lot of people looking at this thread, people have come across this im sure problem/topic, but no one has found a solution to the gmail push?!!

I had the same problem but "solved" it with HD Tweak. Ok solved is the false word for it but it works now.
So what I did is:
1. Start HD Tweak of course
2. Go to point 6.1 (Disconnect After)
3. I set it to 1 Minute or 2 Minutes
4. Save this with OK
After that my gmail works perfect when it always have to connect for a new time to the internet! If you are connected to the internet it won´t work! Crazy but ok what should I do
First I didn´t wanted to use this "disconnect after" option to get my gmail workin. I only wanted to safe battery energy but than I saw that with this disconnecting after 1Minute (on my HD) my gmail is working and syncing all mails correctly to my Touch HD.
Please tell me if it also works on your HD!
Sorry for my bad english

Sorry wrong answer on your question.....I thougt you have a problem syncing with gmail^^
But your question would be also interesting to me if there is a possibility to have pushmail with gmail.
Im also really interested. I have mine set to sync every hour which is ok but as mentioned, not pushmail at all. In fact it is barbarically pullmail.
I hope this will solve the problem.
WINDOWS LIVE (in your Start-programs-windows live)
1. make account in windows live / hotmail
2. at windows live menu - option, find Sync Schedule
3. choose, from Sync Frequency: as items arrive.
It means, as an email arrive in [email protected]., it will push to your handheld.
Carefull with the battery.
Sorry for my English.

yes im sure everyone knows how to get push hotmail, but thats not the problem, we are looking to get push GMAIL. but thanks for that great tutorial! and the battery isnt a problem. mine still has a good charge with hotmail being pushed, when the phone is in standby it doesnt use that much juice, even when data connection is on, its in a less consuming state

well i mean i have gmail set up as imap on my hd but its still pullmail, i set it to manually sync, right now i have all my gmail forwarded to my hotmail, i get pushmail from that so, if i do get an email from my gmail account ill know and i can just hit sync on gmail, and reply if i need to, if i dont need to reply its just to read it then. but its not a solution just a temporary fix? waiting on google to release a gmail sync!
Funambol
Try funambol. It's open source and is getting to be a very popular push email solution.
Hi, I tried using the funambol which seems like a good application. However I couldnt get the messages by push.If I manually do 'sync all' I get the messages but not as push mail as and when they arrive. My 3g connection is on and funambol client is also running.Any idea what I am missung.

im a bit hesitant about trying out the program, doesnt sound worth it, i could be wrong. but googled it a bit and found this
http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/networking/?p=160
the article is a bit dated, but still. skimmed through it and i think it says all funambol basically sends you a sms? and tells you that you have new mail which means manually having to hit "send/receive" i may be wrong, i didnt read the entirety of the article
but in my opinion still not a true solution, im so eager for google to release a gmail sync, dont let me down google....! waiting for you to release a break through tech for wm users!!

Hi,
I was also interested in push mail solution for WM and Touch Hd and this is what I found:
http://www.emoze.com/
I downloaded version for htc/other device and installed cab on mobile. After creating an account for gmail, it automaticly created account in outlook. Mails seems to be pushed into my mobile maybe 1 minute after they arrive to gmails inbox, so it sounds like a fair solution. Pls someone check that because it seems too good to be true. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems to be a real push mail solution for gmail and wm. And its free.

I just tested Emoze, and I'm REALLY impressed!
The setup is fast, and easy!
In the settings menu, I get my own language, despite the software being downloaded in English!
Receipt of testmail on my HD after 4 minutes.
Receipt of reply on my Lotus Notes after 30 seconds(!!!).
This is it! I'm not looking any longer
Another alternative is Seven. I've been using it for over a year now and prefer it to emoze. It's still in beta but works great.
well does seven emoze and funambol all enable you to reply with the gmail account name? and its all a separate application correct?
in a way my temporary fix is working for me, pain in the ass but working.....i just prefer not to have a 3rd party program "filter" through my emails, private or not.....
but has anyone received any word on whether googles releasing a gmail sync?

Seven integrates with outlook and runs in the background to deliver emails. When you want to read/reply you use outlook. Any replies sent are from the email address you set up.
