I was outside yesterday and my battery went out, but when i came home i puted my PDA on the USB cradle and no sign of working before i went out my USB cradle felt from my table, and i dont know if it is my PDA or USB Craddle? pls help...
my device came with a cradle
which can
1 power over the usb cable
or
2 have the powersupply that came with the device connected to it and charge that way
i can also connect a charger connector directly to the powersuppy and charge that way
sometimes when the device goes loco you have to hardreset it before it will
charge and connect to the pc and turn on for that matter
Yeah but, i got my pda from my cousin, so he's got the half of the stuff that's included in package, i have only usb cradle and the pda Ok but look, USB Cradle has a slot to charge only batery right? i plug the USB Cradle in my computer, place the battery in that slot, and after two hours of "charging" battery isnt even warm ... So i guess the usb cradle is not charging! Is it the usb craddle? But the battery is totaly empty, so i cant even start my pda, if i place it in the cradle it wont start...

Hi folks,
Love my MDA II, but I can only get it to accept a charge when my laptop is turned on. If the unit is not plugged into USB or the laptop is not on, it won't charge.
What am I doing wrong?
Finally, I have noticed the last few days that the wall AC adaptor has not been plugged in, yet the MDA has been charging through the USB when the laptop is on.
My question is what is the point of having the AC adaptor if it serves no purpose.
I rechecked and pulled the USB and plugged in AC adaptor. No charging takes place.
you are doing nothing wrong. the power thru the usb port comes only when the laptop is powered up (whether the AC power is on or not ).
In other words u can
1. charge it from your laptop's battery but the laptop has to be turned on and it does not matter if the AC power of the laptop is plugged or not
2. you can charge the XDA directly thru its own AC adapter, independent of the laptop
The AC adapter does have a use, you can either use it in conjunction with the little square dc converter that you get free in the box to charge up the xda without the cradle, so you could have the cradle at home and tyhe AC adapter at home if you wished, and if you plug the AC adapter into the cradle you can charge an aditional battery, as the additional battery can not be charge via USB, Maybe xda developers may be able to frig the cradle to charge the additional battery in the future (hint hint)
After using the XDA 1 since its release, I managed to get a SPV M1000. many advantages however Video and Camera are not very good !
Problem:
I charge from my sync when my desktop PC is on however as soon as I swich my desktop PC off the USB loses power ? and stops the charging. Is there a setting for this ? or is this normal ? my XDA 1 does charge from the USB when the desktop PC is off !
any ideas please
however Video and Camera are not very good !

no phone or webcams (cmos chip video )that i've seen is very good quality, suppose thats the price one pay for lower power comsuming and cheap production cost and smaller size
about the xda2 then at least my cradle have a connector where i can plug in the charger adaptor if i want to charge without having my computer on
unless orange use a different cradle which i doubt then you too can plug in that charger if it dident come with the device you can prob buy it or use any charger with the same connctor and power voltage
Im sorted !
Stupid me !
after using the XDA 1 sync for so long, I forgot about the adapter being pugged in to the sync. However the handbook that came with it does not advise on charging so not entirely my stupidity.
thanks anyway
I think it depends on your PC's motherboard too. I have USB power to the cradle all the time, even when the PC is shut down. I don't use the power charger with the cradle ever - it's only for emergencies.
I agree. I have an abit Nf7-s motherboard and the usb port still delivers power when my computer is down
not if you pull the plug it dont
it all comes down to if the vsb 5volts standby
is connected to the usb
when there is an option in the bios to let keyboards turn on ones computer then it should work
if the usb is on a pci card like some of my usb2 cards is then it's up to the card
pretty sure mine dont
I have an HTC Tytn and it will not charge when connected to a charger but will only charge if it is connected to my PC via USB.
Chargers
Hermes will only charge from an original or hermes replacement charger...for example a motorola or blackberry charger wont do it.

Your charger is probably defective.
The trouble is, charging via a PC jack doesn't work as well, it will take noticeably longer to get to a full charge.
Cheers.
Have you dropped the charger or something?
Sounds like somethings wrong with it if the phone will still charge on pc usb
put it on charger. softreset with stylus. It will restart and charge through normal charger.
I got the HTC cradle today and I was a bit disappointed to see that you need to have the cradle connected to a PC to have it charge and sync. You cannot connect the charger and the sync cable at the same time... is there a way to do it? I just want to be able to put the Pro in the charger in the evening and if my pc is on, sync at the same time
So what's the problem with that? Just connect the charger to your computer and it will charge, and it will sync if your computer is enabled...

It will not charge if my computer is turned off...
Use one of your onboard usb port which are always on (even when the pc is off). And if don't have one, you should get a new motherboard which supports that feature
USB hub with external power supply?
You could try the HTC Multifunction Audio Cable YC A200 or HTC Multifunction Audio Cable YC A300.
I ordered this same one instead of Kidigi model found on Brando. Figured I would just unplug sync cable and plug in AC adaptor that I keep on night stand?
Guys if you have a desktop PC chances are the usb ports are powered even when the pc is off. You can also check for this setting in the motherboard BIOS.

this is how i charge mine and sync with a desktop in my room. Laptop USB ports aren't powered on when the machine is off, though.
I have two laptops... The USB ports stay on when the laptops are in standby mode. If the phone doesn't charge, plug it in before closing the laptop lid (standby).

2 possibilities - if your wire has 2 cables, then one is for charging and one is for data.
the other option is that you have to terminate your relationship with the phone and establish a new one. if this is possible, then likely you will be asked wehther to delete sync files between the two or not. you may choose not to delete.
hope this helps.

This has NOTHING to do with charging.
Yes, check you didnt tick the box "do not charge when connected to a PC" in the power options.
If your battery is sufficiently depleted them the low output from your USB port may be too low to start the charging process.
Attempt the charge from wall charger and then try not to let the battery drain too much.
It is also posible that the power output from your USB port on your PC is defective, Usualy there is a fuse somewhere mounted on the mainbord and looks like a resistor. You can easy check this by using an other PC and connect the phone to that one. You don't need to intsall the ActiveSync on that PC to check. When that one is charging your batery..... Well you know.....
Oh, there is an other posible selution. Turn on your PC Joking
Are you plugging your phone into an external usb hub or directly into a usb port on the back of your computer?
I recently upgraded from an old tmo Wing and it would charge just fine off a port on my external usb hub. When I plugged my HD2 into the same port, it would not charge. If I connect my HD2 directly into the back of my computer, it charges just fine.
I'll be looking for differrent hub that provides more power and will allow for better charging.
if you POWER OFF the phone and it dose charge (orange led should appear near earpiece)
then your pc's usb and your usb cable are fine.
to fix,
go to 'SETTINGS'
and then at the bottom tap on 'ABOUT PHONE'
then tap on BATTERY'
then 'un-tick' the box that says "When the phone is on, do not charge the battery when connected to a PC"
USB Debugging mode might be on. I rooted my phone and forgot to uncheck that box and once I did, it started charging again.
