I've doubled checked with different SIMs/providers,
and both 1.03 and 1.60 versions....
Going into explorer, activating GPRS, downloading a large page,
and calling my phone from another cellular, I get "no answer"
and the XDAii never rings!
Has anyone experienced this?
Any solution?
Clearly, Voice should override Data according to GPRS standard,
and it did work for me on Treo 270 and Treo 600. But not here?!
tmobile does this to me with an XDAI
tmobile does this to me with an XDAI running 2003 from yorch, the basic rom, not the tmobile version.
A little useless to have gprs on all the time if you can't get calls, no?
gprs on vs gprs active
well in my case:
GPRS is on, but no data in the last few seconds: calls get in
GPRS is on and data "active": no calls get in
So, it is a problem of being "active" and not just "on" for me.
Like I've said, two different providers (900 & 1800) and both SIMs
worked correctly in a TREO 270/600.
GPRS & Calls
In my case, running an Orange M1000 with a version 1.52 ROM, the call gets through even if I have an active mail sync running using a VPN client and GPRS.
The VPN connection however is killed, but GPRS is re-enabled once the call terminates. The VPN client apparently does not re-connect automatically as it should, but this is not an M1000/XDA II problem.
This is how it is supposed to work, I believe.

Michael

Yes, same problem here. If IE is loading a page, the calls go to voice mail. The phone does not even ring.
How can we get around this?
So it is confirmed! help!
Come on people, now I'm pretty sure this is not related to
my locale (hebrew support) and is a global problem with the XDA II.
I can't believe someone else haven't checked it yet?
It is annoying to look something up on the net only to miss a call...
Some other people, please confirm this?
load a big www page in PIE and dial your own number.
Re: So it is confirmed! help!
Ummm....
Try doing this with a P900, Nokia 6600 etc...
I think you'll find this is a 'feature' of GPRS - when GPRS is actively transferring data, the phone bit doesn't work and calls go straight to vmail.
The dual bit - voice calls + downloads - is called 3G
Strange,
when i sync my email with active sync over GPRS the incoming call goes thrue but if i download a page with IE the call gets directly to the voice mail
any ideas??
regards,
Yann
My understanding is that there is nothing you can do. If GPRS is dl'ing, most calls will go to vm.
Should not matter which phone you have.
i'm pretty sure i have seen this confirmed in the documentation for my XDAII that whilst actively browsing using GPRS you cannot receive an incoming call as its downloading data, whether it just be page data or a file download. To recieve an incoming call GPRS can be connected but not active.

Click to collapse
it happened to me when i click on save password everything i enable gprs.
to deal with it u need to either uncheck the save password or delete your previous setting and add a new one. now this time DO NOT check on save password when connecting to gprs.
hope it helps.
One confusing problem that i want to solve: When i am connected to the Internet via the "Wireless Modem" application, then i can't receive any incoming call even it is no data transfer over the air(GPRS). Every phone is available for receiving this calls when it is no data transfer active. But my Himalaya not. The other side is ringing to me but i can't see anything. No missed call no incall..nothing. I can lose lot of important calls when i use Internet(WModem) at same time. The problem is the same also for SMS's. Is it some solution of this problem? Or is it somewhere over the net any application that can toggle the call forward to any other phone? I will be greatful for any suggestion. Thanx.
My o2 wapflat ist working fine most times. and i use pushemail trough this also. but sometimes the gprs connection im using 24 hours a day shows that is is connected but no more sync or even internet works. if i try to reconnect i dont even get a connection to gprs. Only a softrest does help.
Can somebody help?
P.s. I did not install the crappy o2 software from ext.rom
Hallo Sebi
Cannot help you much, only report that with Base flat and Cortado Direct Push I experience no such problems. If GPRS signal is lost out of coverage the device automatically reconnects, and the device never shows GPRS running when in fact there is no connection. Maybe there is a GPRS sensitivy setting in the registry, but I can only speculate. Good luck.
I think the problem is comming from phonealarm. i just get the new beta an know the problem is gone.
Hi All,
Hopefully someone may help with my query.
I have the HTC Wizard running on O2 UK latest ROM, the cell is unlocked and running another providers card.
The email is configured to check for new POP3 messages every 60mins when I am away from the PC.
The problem is that when it connects the GPRS and checks for messages the GPRS stays connected.
Other cell phones I have used will connect and autodisconnect after checking.
Maybe the GPRS is connected but not sending/receiving data during the idle period?
Can anybody shed some light on this?
Cheers all.
True- This also happens after you send/receive an MMS!
Any way to auto disconnect would be good.
GPRS
After more research I find it doesn't matter if the GPRS is active, as long as it is not sending or receiving data no charges will apply.
Still worrying though and will need to check bill!
thats is a big problem, the baterry life go away....
there no 3ยบ program to do this? no one knows?
disconnect script
Maybe something like this ,modify the script to check and disconnect the GPRS say 5mins after checking your email.
chalky.
Solution
after the send/receive of mail or mms, if you hold the end call button the GPRS will disconnect.
ok, this is a strange issue and i am not too sure about it, so correct me if i am wrong.
When i use my Universal, i use the Hack which enable my GPRS/3G always on, it works great and when phone call comes in, the dis-connect the connection and re-connect it once you finish phone call.
But with Athena, after i apply the same Hack, although the connection is always on, but you CAN'T received any phone call ! So i turn the Hack off and do some more testing. I found out when i use Opera and connect to internet (3.5 G), i can't receive phone call, but when i close the program, the connection change to 3G (instead of 3.5), then i can receive phone call again.
But notice here, the 3G is still on when i receive phone call, so it doesn't disconnect any more.
So important to remember don't use the Hack on Athena, otherwise you can't receive phone call.
Anyone can explain this?
