I just changed to Radio 1.06 and I don't know if it is related to this event, but my backup battery is said to be empty and not recharging. The device says it does not recognize the battery:"unknown" and the word is flickering a bit.
1. What are the consequences
2. Is it a software matter that can be changed with a registry editor?

My XDAII backup battery shows 100% all the time but if I remove the main battery even for 5 seconds I lose everything. When I power it back up the backup battery still shows 100%. would this be a fault with the batter or the pda?
I have sprite backup software but I am unsure if it backs everything up properly as last time I used it to restore, something was corrupted and I could send sms messages but was unable to receive them. So I had to take the battery out and then tediously load all of my apps again and forget about restoring from a backup.
Any ideas???
I do have the same problem and the phone resets on 25% main battery
any help?
Change you back up battery
hey guys you just need to change your Back up battery. There is a small battery inside our phone. search for battery change manual (or a PDF) available online. Please take a back up of data or you may loose everything.
check your manual and bring the same make battery before you open the phone.
My device : Imate Jas Jar, see below.
My device was doing soft resets when my applications were going in and out of data contection by different software tools, data connection via Wifi or GPRS.
For example I would open Netfront 3.3, then close it and then device would soft reset. I would turn on wifi, then turn it off, the device would soft reset.
Well all I did was change the (orginial) battery over for a new one and all works fine.
All I cant work out is that the power spikes requires to do connection functions must have been to tough for the battery, hence the battery wearing it self out. I have no idea otherwise.
Any ideas...I dont !
i have the same issue now!
do you confirm that changing the battery solves the problem at 100%?
Thanks.
Bye
Yes.. a new battery did fix it.
Is this right, am I reading one of the first battery issues on a Universal running WM5 as opposed to the other battery issues under WM6?
other strange issue from me :0)
After changing to WM6 my Device( Universal) use to shut down ca. by 30-35% remaining battery reading. After following so many post here I thought my battery is going down.
However just recently for few days I have flash back the original ROM. Now comes the strange issue: After flashing the original ROM I have observed that I could use my device (with same battery) down to 5% reading.
After one week later flash back the WM6 and see there the device shutting down again by 30-35% battery reading.

I have always and still do suspected a falwed battery interface driver in WM6 but could not technically reproduce it. This is still a work in progress for me but its good to know that there might be a real problem after all in WM6.
My JAM starts to show me the message that says "Backup Battery is very low" and asks me to replace it. This message appears in random basis.
Well, if I look at Battery Status Screen (or even at Resco Today Plugin) the backup batt shows me 100% charged then goes to 0% (at same time of that message). In 4-5 sec the battery stats returns to 100%!!!!
And thats occurs even my JAMis plugged in charger !!!
About 2 days ago I install new ROM, at the same version than older, except that older is PTB (in portuguese) and the new is WWE. But both is same version.
I've search the foruns and find that backup batt is an Varta V18hrt. And it's impossible to fint it here in Brazil!!!!! And I don't see any place selling this battery in any place over the net. I really don't whant to buy this cell in any foreinger (outside Brazil) place, as I don't have any International credit card and I don't like things like paypal......
Then I have 2 questions:
Someone knows if exists any NiMH 1,2V thais is equivalent to Varta V18hrt ??
Case not: is somewere any chance that I replace the Varta by any Lithium (or even Alkaline) 1.5V cell ??? Doesn't matter if I have to replace that cell in a regular basis....
Thanks for your help.
dont think u need to replace ur backup battery. try taking out ur main battery n clean the points. it mite help.
I think maybe a soft problem... I've upgrate my JAM with 1.13 ROM+1.13 Radio+BigStorage and the problem stills occours, but less than before....
In 72h after change, I only see this problem 3 or 4 times.... Before it happens 30-40 times a day!!!!!!
Someone have experiencing something like that ?
There is no backup battery of Varta inside the Magician. It was a mistake by a poster who was referring to another device.
Magician has only a condensator, holding the data in RAM for a couple of minutes. The condensator shows up as "Backup Battery".
I have a similar problem of the backup battery not showing up at all, and a message "Low backup battery" after soft reset.
I ignore it. However the condensator still seems to work, because if I remove the main battery for a minute, the data is not lost.
There is definitely a Varta battery in the magician, I have just opened mine up and removed it
Its inside a steel can soldered to the main pcb, you need to pry the top off the can to get to the battery.
The battery is a Varta V18HRT button cell, and has 124 written on the plastic casing around it.
Cheers.
Hi all,
One of the things that annoys me about the S200 is that the battery indicator, when charging, doesn't show the actual charge level (but instead, cycles through 20/40/60/80/100)
So, if I want to check the charge level of the phone, I have to disconnect, and then (if it is not charged enough), reconnect.
Is there any tweak that would get it to display actual charge? (All my previous WinMo phones - even going back 8 years - behaved this way)
Thanks

Batti
Check out this App. I use it and i love it. It shows a battery line and can show percentual state of battery.

Hi!
I'm trying this on Arto's 2.8 (Manila) ROM and it doesn't appear to do anything at all... are you using a Manila or non-Manila ROM?
Also, it isn't clear from the description if it will display battery level accurately while charging.. can u confirm it's behaviour?
BTW Arto's ROM already includes a mod to show battery to 1% accuracy (but while charging it only shows a charging icon - and battery settings cycles 20/40/60/80/100).
I think the issue is not in the displaying app, but some means to change how the phone reports the battery level to software (perhaps a reg mod or driver mod)

forgett this app
my mistake. batti only shows % steps. this means that the line is cutted in parts (like blocks). sorry no numerical display
I've had my phone for 20 months now and apart from the odd freeze it's been fine. When I first got it I installed an app/cab that shows how much battery is left in percentage. For the last couple of months this hasn't been working properly. For example it might show there is 20% of the battery left so I put it on charge. When I unplug it, it is still showing 20% so I need to restart the phone and then it shows the correct level. Yesterday it was showing 42% so I put it on charge this morning as I need it full for today. When I unplugged it, again it was still showing 42%. So I restarted it and it then showed 22% (was only on charge about 40 minutes). So obviously the battery was close to 0% rather than 42% when I put it on charge. This doesn't happen all the time, maybe once a week.
Do I just need to uninstall/reinstall the app, is there a better one I could use or could it be a battery issue? The phone is still on 6.5 but I might try a custom ROM now it's out of warranty.
Well, its quite a common problem now really...Firstly, you might want to recalibrate your battery. Read through this link and install the app: (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/windows-m...e-battery-discharger-better-battery-life.html)
If your battery percentage is still not displaying values correctly even after following the instructions and using the app, you have to try other methods.
Try downloading another battery percentage app (http://gadgetmix.com/windows-mobile...-monitor-show-battery-percent-windows-mobile/) or (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584772). Before you install the app, you should uninstall your current cab and observe the default battery indicator icon. If that does not correlate with your actual battery life, then ditch installing other percentage indicator apps and proceed to the steps below. If the default indicator is working well, then its your application thats causing the problem. In this case, reinstall the cab or install a different percentage indicator app. You can also skip the below steps(but you should really give custom ROM flashing a try. It will lead to many extremely good wonders like Android and WP7)
If the above does not work, it is recommended that you flash a custom ROM that is compatible with your phone. Also ensure you flash the right HSPL and radio. Most custom(and the popular/good) ROMS have a battery percentage indicator cooked in. If the ROM you flashed doesnt have the indicator, install the battery indicator app and see if your issue is fixed. Again, monitor the default battery indicator first before moving
If everything has failed and both your battery percentage indicator and default indicator is not displaying the correct values, the problem should most likely be in the battery. Get a new battery and see if that fixes the problem. Hope this helps. Gd luck!
