i've installed Radio ROM 1.13.10 yesterday and i've noticed that cell broadcast finally works properly. so i've set: start -> settings -> phone -> more -> broadcast channels -> settings -> channel 50. cell broadcast works, but after every cell change screen backlight activates itself and popup with notification is coming out:

because i also use DKToday today plugin which is showing current cell broadcast location message (as seen on screenshot above), i wouldn't like to disable cell broadcast totally, because after doing so, DKToday will not show CB message. so i'd like to disable these popup notifications only. is there any registry hack to do so?
i did some experiments with registry last night and i found some interesting things about this issue. most interesting is this registry key:
\HKLM\Comm\Cellular\SMS\Protocols\Broadcast
i've been experimenting with values within this key and here are results: (soft reset is required after each value change)
original value: AppName = \Windows\tmail.exe
changed to: AppName = \Windows\tmail.exe- (invalid path)
effect: no popups with CB message any more, but DKToday shows new CB messages properly! success? well, almost... each change of CB message turns backlight on, even when phone is in standby mode.
original value: DLL = SMS_Providers.dll
changed to: DLL = SMS_Providers.dll-
effect: after receiving new CB message, popup is shown with message like 'unknown sender. message cannot be opened blablabla'. this message is saved in inbox like regular text message. HOWEVER, DKToday still shows proper CB message!
original value: Params = -Text
changed to: Params = [empty]
effect: popup & backlight is on, proper CB message is show, but at the same time pocket outlook is being opened. but just opened, nothing else is happening (like saving CB message into inbox).
my conclusions are: AppName (in this case tmail.exe) is responsible for *showing* CB messages. disabling tmail.exe results with no more popup being shown. DLL value hold system library responsible for *processing* CB messages (actually decoding & reading them). and Parms is simple parameter for application defined in AppName. that's what i think and guess after all my experiments. i'm not sure about it however...
i did some other tweaks but without any satisfying results, so i went sleep (it was around 2am so i was bit sleepy). maybe i'll try again sometime later... maybe some other users will try as well and share their thoughts?
anyone else have updates on this?
It sounds like backlight is the only issue now..

Great work man. I'm using this on my Hermes, together with the BatteryStatus plugin. Actually BatteryStatus removed the popups but after I switched SIM cards they mysteriously came back. So I applied the registry hack.
Still havent found a solution for the wake up / backlight issue though, but it doesnt seem to consume too much power if you set your battery backlight timeout to 10 seconds.
damn so close nice work
Dead
Ok i know this thread is dead but theres an app out there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359563 that shows a personal message instead of operator name isnt there a way to get the broadcast message to show instead of the operator name?
anyone know about some app to handle cb messages properly (like any stupid phone natively does), please share
Still no app for handling CB messages properly?

WM5 lacks a "new" button, and thus creating a new SMS can be quite laborious.
When I used Pocket Plus in my JasJar, I used to have a shortcut that fired off a "new message". This shortcut ran an installed app called ActionSender.exe with parameters as follows:
-key PLUSACTION{0025|0000} {1D210285-ABE7-11d2-8442-0000F87A584A}
When I clicked it, I got a list of my mail accounts, and I could click "sms" or "pop3" to write a new message. VERY useful.
The list of accounts was a WM5 app, not a PocketPlus app. Does anyone know how I can get this app linked to a shortcut? Running tmail.exe is not the answer - but perhaps it's possible to pass parameters to tmail?
Matching registry entries in the JasJar are as follows:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1D210285-ABE7-11d2-8442-0000F87A584A}]
@="MS New Email"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1D210285-ABE7-11d2-8442-0000F87A584A}\InprocServer32]
@="msnewmnu.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Extensions\NewMenu\{1D210285-ABE7-11d2-8442-0000F87A584A}]
@="Message"
So basically I'm looking for an app that will fire up msnewmnu.dll - I think... :?:
Have you tried my VJSMS programs? For starting off new SMSs and VJDialer for starting new calls.
Should work on WM2005. Search on the board.

AWESOME dude! Thanks a stack.
Busy going thro all ur posts cos ur clearly an interesting dude. I'm battling to get your other apps (togglestart etc) to work on a JasJar (VGA and WM5). Are they supposed to yet?
PS: Can't get -ACC "Text Messages" to work under vjsms. Have tried "SMS", "Text", "SMS Messages", "(Text Messages)" - nothing goes straight to SMS. Not a problem - I still get my list of account choices - just wondering if u know the account name in the JasJar.
craigiecraigie4 - no, for now ToggleStart etc is NOT for WM2005. It works fine to hide the bar at the top, but not the bar at the bottom. Read through the latest ToggleToday (damn, I forget what it's called now) thread, and you'll see I released a new-er beta. No one has given feedback so it's not fully updated yet.
HOWEVER: once I can start working on WM2005, I'll fully update it to support landscape, vga and WM2005. But not right now. Unforunately I don't have access to a WM2005 device and it's slowing down a couple of other things I want to release Anyone got a spare?
I'll be updating VJSMS shortly to automatically send the SMS as well, rather than just start a new one, for even easier use...
You might want to give TodayButton a go as well. Not sure if it works on WM2005, but it should.

It should default to SMS. I've never tried it on emails; it should work, although I don't recall how: I'll have to look at the code.

how to create pic shortcuts to sms
vijay555 how did u create those shortcuts that show ur girlfriends pics and that trigger call or sms?

It may be a JasJar thing, but no matter what parameters I pass, I get a list of accounts with a title "Select an account". Once I click the account, the message starts with "123" or whatever as the recipient. Other parameters such as -body also pass correctly. So it's just the account selection (-ACC paramater) that fails on the JJ. I browsed the registry for account names, and it looks like it's called "SMS" and that "Text Messages" is an acronym - but no combiantions I passed worked. Truly, it's not an issue - just passing this info to you in case it's helpful.
No probs craigiecraigie4, when I get a WM2005 I'll look into it!
Good luck with it! Will keep XDA forums informed of my new hacks

This might be worth looking into http://ukaywares.blogspot.com/2006/03/softkey-sms-automation-for-wm5-pocket.html
10#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "123456" -body "Body"
The "SMS" can be replaced by account name, such as MMS, etc...
I used to have an option called GPS under Settings of WM5 of my Cingular 8125 (aka HTC Wizard). I suspect, I may have deleted it accidentally. I did hard reset, but it hasn't come back. How can I restore it?
some info for Universal posted here

should still apply
To hide or show the GPS connection in the connections panel
The settings are at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings'
The 'Hide' DWORD value should be set to '0' or deleted to show the panel and to '1' to hide the panel
The 'Group' DWORD value should be set to '2' to show the panel and deleted to hide the panel
For example, to show the GPS connection in the connectionss panel
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings\Hide = 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings\Group = 2
hi Simon_darley,
Thanks for the link and suggestion. When I looked at that key on my phone, I don't see those values instead I see "Redirect". Still, I created those values (Hide & Group), but the icon didn't appear in any of the pages of settings or program. After soft reset, it didn't either. And strangely, the new values disappeared. Next I deleted "redirect" and recreated the values, but the same problem continued.

how did you soft reset? are you using 3rd party software to do the reset? if not, you need to cycle the power off using the power button for about 20 seconds before you reset.
I think you will need to remove the redirect key.
I checked on my Universal and enabled that feature via those exact registry keys.
If that doesnt help, then i cannot unfortunately as I dont have the wizard.
ssaibal,
Did work?
Thanks
That didn't work
I tried various methods...but none worked. Now I have the Hide and Group values in place all the time and "redirect" deleted. I understand that these stuff are part of the ROM and so when I do a hard reset, it should restore the settings to default. It is really strange that it is not back. I haven't done ANY updates to the ROM. This is just 2 weeks old phone from Cingular.
Hello,
Thanks.
My ROM never has this option!
I intended to put it, but if don't work by this way... I think will flash a new ROM... maybe the newer iMate, Think is the newest ROM for Wizard (I have a MDA Vario).

Well, never heard about GPS option on Wizard.
Did You mean GPRS?
no gps,
if you set up tomtom with a gps receiver, the only choices in bluetooth settings for com ports are com 6 or 7, in tomtom neither of these are available as a choice, if you enable the new gps icon, you can create a new com port in the tomtom gps settings to use, eg com 6.
this is not the only use for this new icon, but it does what i need.
had the same problem (com6/7) not showing until i installed version5.12 of tomtom.... and it just showed up & worked.

spants,
But You can add COM ports at bluetooh manager... I can add port 6 with Tomtom 5.21 at my Wizard!
afaik at least the most recent Wizard roms do NOT have the GPS applet installed.
No matter what you chage in the registry, you wont see GPS in settings because it simply is not there.
For use with most software no issue, as they all expect to communicate via a SPP com port
(as is TomTom)
update: Have added a discoverable toggle to this guy.
1 click = on, 2nd = discoverable, 3rd = off
Also changed the name to EffComm so it's all the same across the board.
Still looking into adding eyecandy.. Does anyone know a nice and simple graphics library for C++ mobile that will load PNG files with alpha channel or something similar ??
Here's a plugin we've made to toggle bluetooth/wifi/phone directly from the today screen with a single click. All comments welcome!
Installed okay on the Dopod D810 but where do I find the program to actually run it or enable it in Settings > Today > Items??
hmm.. yes it should be in there. I think it's listed as "EffComm" in there (something else that needs to be fixed!)
cool mate, works perfectly.
Some eyecandy please.
it works perfect on my Eten Glofiish X500 on WM6 as well.
It works great on my HTC TyTN. You know what would make this the best today plugging if you could control 3G on\off.
congratz, will recommend this on other forums, personally i prefer wm5newmenu's submenu with vijay555's soft like vjvolubilis, vjbluetoggle, vjphonetoggle etc... but your plug is neat
maybe it is possible to add all things from commgr? heh, it would be NICE.
works on wm06 wizard.
btw, could you align "phone:ON/off" position to the right? this free space for "f" is hm, ugly.
Was in search of a plugin like this. Awesome
Works fine in Uni (O2 Exec, Jasjar, etc.). Simple & effective! Thanks.

I would like to have bluetooth turn on in discovery mode.
Is it possible?
most likely I turn on bluetooth only when my friends send me somethin.
If I send files via bluetooth, i can do it with activate bt first

Does vibrate work on every device? (does it go through that index?) I'm up to 76 on my i780 and still nothing...

It'd be handy to have the app autohide on start so we can use it as a startup app.

Tested on ASUS P535 : WM6 with CF 2.0.7045.0
Just a little thing : is it possible to do something with the RAM usage ???

can you please tell me which pda are you using?
thanks,

Hi oldsap,
Is it possible to have a shortcut with autohide, that we can place in the startup folder?
If you can see to reduce the ram usage

Fellow XDA members,
Im currently busy trying to build a (basic) (outgoing) minute 'monitor', based on your personal input in free minutes in a textbox in the program.
The idea:
Input your allowed free minutes for this month and save it as a Registry Value i.e. MyMinutes.
Get the current Value (OutgoingVoiceCurrent) and copy it (OutgoingVoiceThisMonth).
This to insure you DON'T loose any values which could brick your phone.
Then simply do a math:
MinutesLeft = MyMinutes - (OutgoingVoiceCurrent - OutgoingVoiceThisMonth)
My programming skills are super basic, so IF it works, it'll could work for the Touch Pro 2 (maybe more phones, it should work as long as WM creates the registry values we need). But any help here would be appreciated.
My idea is to make it a free program once ready and working, and perhaps work with a little donation.
So is there anybody who wants/could lend a hand?
Version 0.1 beta:
- Code works
- Output to registry works
- Rounding to minutes works
- Set a new month works, yet doesn't recalculate the fields yet.
- Contains 'debug' output fields to check values set/calculated
Screen & Explanation:
1. Your currently Set Free Minutes
2. Field to input your New Free Minutes (will post to Register and Update field 1.)
3. Is your total used minutes during your phone's lifespan if you haven't reset the registry value / Installed a new rom (The original value is in seconds)
4. Your currently Used Minutes this Month
5. Minutes Left (kind a obvious)
6. Clicking 'New Month' will copy your currently used minutes from box 3. and calculate box 4.
Debug:
7. The value set by clicking 'New Month'
8. The original OutgoingVoiceCurrent value from the registry in seconds
9. Check the rounding of the Minutes

Update:
So far i've been able to get my program to get the required information from the registry.
It shows the current total called minutes (OutgoingVoiceCurrent) and displays it in a textbox as a value.
I've been able to set up a box where you can set your Free minutes this month.
All that rests now is to find a way to 'calculate' howmany minutes there are left.
And possibly reset the counter without resetting ALL the values, i.e: A button named 'New Month' which resets the counter so it shows how much Free minutes you would have at that time.
Update:
It's working! I guess.. It has a self installing cab + Start menu link.
It saves all the values needed in the Registry and does a Math based on the values.
It takes the value 'OutgoingCurrentValue' converts it to Minutes and rounds that up, so to be sure that if you call 90 seconds it shows 2 minutes, not 1.5.
It then calculates your minutes used this month based on the input it's set on (you can manually 'reset' it so that every new month starts with '0' minutes used)
You can manually set your Free Minutes per month. After changing the value it automatically updates the form.
If anyone is interested in testing, please let met know!
