You've got two multicolour led's, at least one is multi colour, green blinking for network, orange when charging and green when fully charged.
Blue for bluetooth, obvious .
Now i wonder, how do i turn them off?
Is there a tool to do that ?
Im intrigued! Why?
When i'm watching divx with tcmp, i hate those blinking led's in front of me.
That's it

Buuuuuhhhhhtttttttt, how about JUSt turning the LED's off?
That was my original question, to turn off the LED's.
All other functions must remain available.
(Logitech Bluetooth Stereo )Headset, and when the phone rings i must pickup when on standby duty ......

But this is not a functional solutionas far as i read the article.
Searched and found that topic myself already by the way.....
For ur this simple prob u can simply paste a small piece of matching dark coloured tape so that they dont disturb u nemore. lol........
LOL, no that's covering up, not shuttung down
So anyone any ideas jet ?
They bother me a lot when traveling at night time, and it's in the holder, i want to be able to shut them down please.
Tape is no option.
They can be controlled and disabled, but it'll be messy to disable them. There are various drivers scattered around that want control of the leds.

Network, Charge and of course Bluetooth traffic are the ones i guess ?
How does one control these things, have you got any idea ?
The thing is, it's distracting me a lot when driving the car in the dark, that's why i ask. Also when watching divx it's distracting
The method I could write would be messy, inelegant. Easiest way is to disable allledmgr.

Sounds like a solution to me?
I have no idea to enable or disable allledmgr, can i do that in the Registry perhaps ? Would you like to teach me how to do that ?
Grtzzz from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
You could always open the case up and try removing the LEDs.

Yeah, or buy a Nokia 8210 ....
Come on get serious
OK then, I'll be serious.
I have looked into this quite extensively in the past, tried hacking all sorts of settings in the registry and all I have managed to do in the past is turn off the network LED.
As far as I'm aware and have been able to work out, the Bluetooth and the WiFi are controlled by either the drivers or the hardware itself rather than registry settings and modifying the drivers is beyond my capabilities. Of course, if it's hardware then there's nothing that can be done.
Come on Vijay, I know you of all people can do it, good luck.
Pug.
Here you go - VJImpoto, alpha release.
This will disable the LED driver (ie, battery charging leds, bluetooth, notification led, wifi led(?))
Note - by disabling the LED driver, the PDA won't be able to disable any currently activate leds, so eg if you're charging up (orange led active), and then run VJImpoto, the orange led will stay on until you soft reset whether you're charging or not.
So run it when you've got no LEDs on, and they'll stay off.
However: this is alpha, because I noticed that the "heartbeat" flash of the phone radio (green flash of led every few seconds) continues despite the LED driver being disabled: clearly that action is activated elsewhere on the system, so it'll need further investigation. However, this app merely disables AllLedMgr, so any flaws with that strategy carry here too.
Command line options:
-showinfo shows info on usage/donations
-debug shows feedback on whether it worked.
-killall killall will first attempt to switch off any active leds, so as discussed above, running VJImpoto -killall will first switch off the orange led, and then disable AllLEDMgr. However, this has the peculiar side effect of making the heartbeat flash now flash on the left green led on the Hermes. I recommend using -killall.
Please give feedback on if it worked for you. I'll make a cab later, .exe only for now.

First and atmost :
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for taking the time investigating and writing a possible solution for my little problem, however how small the problem seems, i have many thanks for you!
Don't have the time right now, but when arriving home it's on the top of my priority list, right below eating
AND WHOW IT WORKS!
For 5 to 10 minutes, then they all start blinking again.....
Here are my findings :
When i shut down all communications, and run the program from pocket-explorer, it works like a charm, even the Phone heartbeat won't blink.
After a period of 5 to 10 minutes however, they start blinking again.
The funny thing is, when i shut down all comunications, they keep blinking!
After a soft reset the situation is like before, as it seems to me, and they blink how they are supposed to, and stop blinking when turned off all communication devices.
I will look for a command line tool, and try it that way, for further examination, and ofcourse for finding the donation part
(by Paypal i assume ?)
I've written an app that can enable and disable the blue led with a toggle. I would like to know for who this works. Please test it and tell me .

For some reason my Desire went buggy and crashed at some point. However something amazing happened.
Contrary to popular believe, there are more colors than red, green and orange. My Desire's LED flashed blue and purple. Now I searched the forums and could not find any topic that confirmed this, nor on google, so just to let you guys know .
Next point on the list is finding an application that can tweak them

Gheh, it only showed for like a few seconds, then the phone restarted, I will try to replicate the bug, but I expect I will be unsuccessful .
Interesting. I got my Desire yesterday and installed the Touchdown app for corporate connectivity. In TD's settings you can customise the LED behaviour to select different colours (beyond red, green and amber) for different events. Tried it and it just flashed green, but why have these settings if there's not a way to do this...interesting
I have been able to replicate the bug. This is how I do it:
1. Turn on Bluetooth
2. Receive a text message while charging
3. Disconnect from charger
4. Turn off screen
5. Reconnect to charger
6. My led will glow purply
7. Disconnect the phone from the charger
8. Led starts flashing blue, orange and purple
9. Phone reboots
Taking pictures as we speak

I've added the images. It was too hard to take a picture of the blue color. But at least here is purple.
PS. images are in the first post
EDIT: Also, I should add, I have been unable to duplicate the color for a second time. No idea why it happens. Just happy I was able to get these pictures
i did what you said. no special colors but strange things happens. no reboot
Re: Notification LED Multicolor (Picture of purple included)
Looks like the desire does some how support multi colours :S there must be a way to enable this fully within the codes. I will be donateing if the devs can get this to fully work

I have tried and tried and I have been unable to replicate this bug from this point on. I'm so happy I was able to take the pictures. I think it's because of a semi-faulty flash that I have this bug. Even though the randomality of it suggests it might be more of a hardware bug. We do however now know it has a blue led too. So cyan and white should be possible as well. I just wonder, why go through the trouble of a adding a full multicolor led, if you are only going to use 3 colors of the possible 7.
there might be something as simple as a voltage problem.
most leds will change color when you increase voltage and/or overload them.
the first few times you won't see any damage, but eventually the changing color might be permanent and then it's just a matter of time before the led just brakes.
so there is a change that it's not multi color, but the phone just overloads the led while crashing.
When I looked down the headphone port I could clearly see the red and blue led burning. I do really think there is a blue led in there.

Haa nice one mate
Well we know there is a Red and Green led for definite so having a Blue as well means we have multi colour. Now we just need a way to use it
There's no way that type of colour came from overloading the phone as when an LED overloads it just blows, it doesn't change colour to that extent.

Start a new thread on the dev section, im sure this will be picked up by one of the wizzes

Heh, I'm sorry guys, but we already know there's a BLUE led inside.
This LED works a bit differently from the other LEDs, however.
Theres no need to do advanced tricks to show the blue LED, you
can easily enable it:
echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/leds-microp/blue/brightness
From within a terminal emulator.
the blue LED is, however, missing the 'blink' property, as the Green and Amber LEDs do.
And yes, it is also possible to turn other LEDs on at the same time, so you can make purple by enabling the BLUE and Amber LEDs.

Then can we not just simply integrate that command into our applications for use of the blue LED?
Hello everyone,
Got a Bell Atrix 4G, unlocked it and I am using on Rogers network. So far, it is working well.
I am having a problem setting Notification Light. I tried the built in notification light under Settings and a few different notification light apps from market. I used to get a green light for email before but I don't get it anymore after playing with other free apps. I just can't figure this out. I put my phone on vibration mode at work so I would love to have notification lights working.
What I need is different lights for Missed calls, Email, SMS. Has anyone dealt with this issue?
Any help will be much appreciated and thank you!
I use the app light flow for that. Gives me total control over the LED. I have different colors flash for different notifications.
I use Light Flow https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow
and it handles a ton of apps and uses a TON of color combinations.
Worth the $1.
haha, i was going to start this topic today. I use blue for my Trillian notifications, Purple for yahoo mails.
will try the light app suggested above.
Thanks!
Thank you guys! Yes, "Light Flow" makes it work. Please ensure you turn on "Setting > Display > Notification LED".
Light Flow does not work correctly on the ATRIX AT ALL. I had low battery warnings going off when the battery was fully charged, no charge LED ON option, no charging LED, only discharging WTF?
I have the exact same phone as my partner. Both the same OS, software version - everything. The only difference is that I can't get notification lights to work on her phone for things like SMS, WhatsApp etc.
If I choose a light colour in WhatsApp on my phone it works - flashes, works fine. Do the same on hers and she gets no light whatsoever. I have set our phones up to have exactly the same settings, neither of us has any special apps installed (like Light flow) and pretty much all our system settings are exactly the same. Her LED toggle is switched on the same as mine and she is using the same SMS app. Neither of us has any rogue-looking apps installed. We both have the same SMS client and all apps are up-to-date.
Does anyone have a clue what could be going on here? Her light definitely isn't faulty as it works when someone calls - flashes green, lights red when charging and blue when she double-taps the screen to unlock.
I'm all out of ideas now. She is not wanting to do a full restore.
Hello, in interested in this device but I have some doubts about it. I've been reading the ZTE forums and searching info on internet but I can't find an unanimous answer about the otg support, so can anyone confirm the otg support on this device?
Other question is about the LED used to notifications. I read that the led in this device isn't a RGB led and you can't choose the color for a specific app notifications.
Other issue related with the led is the timeout. Is it true that led turns off after some time?
The last one is about the ring bell in the lock screen, I know that in the axon 7 now is optional, is the same in the mini?

I have used a USB-C to USB-A adapter and it worked. I don't know if it's OTG persay but I used a keyboard without issue. The LED does appear to be RGB but it is not customizable within stock ROM. I have not had the LED time out on me. The ring bell is still there in b21, but you can tell it to show notifications by default.

Thanks for the reply if you use an pen drive let me know if it works.
The customization is not a problem if it works properly so I'm happy to hear that the time out is fixed. Compared to other phones is the LED brighter or average?
I have another question about the ring bell, if you have enabled the notifications it shows the art cover and the music controls??

Unfortunately I don't have a thumb drive handy, otherwise I would test that out for you. The LED is about as bright as I would expect. I have my phone next to my bed and it doesn't wake me up.
If you push the bell or have it set to show notifications by default it will be like any other lock screen notification implementation, it doesn't change the background of the lock screen to the album art, at least to spotify, I don't know about the stock music app.
