PDA memory to memory transfer rate... - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi!
We have just discovered one very interesting thing:
using memcpy() function we observe data transfer rate
~4.5 Mbytes on our Qtek s100 device and
~9.0 Mbytes on our iPAQ 2210
do not discussing difference of rates for these devices I wanna ask - is such extremely low internel data transfer rate normal for nowadays PDA and communicators?
It's really disappointing.
Any advice?

Maximum transfer rate SD interface?

What's the maximum transfer rate of the MDAII's SD interface?
don't know well..but it is slower than many SD-Cards..
try to check with Benchmark onto PocketMechanic.
So the xdaII can not take advantage of the new fast SD cards? I mean, would it be useless to by a x60 card?
pretty much unless you of cause had a sdcard reader on the pc which could then when you wanted to bring music or what ever to the sdcard for using for the xda2 it would get copy'd faster

Transfer speed?

Questions on the PDA2

I am seriously considering the PDA2 for my next device. (My T-Mob PPCPE is choking with all of my data and need the new features) I have been confused with the various sites claiming 64MB ROM vs 128MB. The i-mate site (http://www.clubimate.com/t-DETAILS_PDA2.aspx) claims 128MB. Is it possible that 128MB is correct with 64MB user accessible?
Also, is the serial plug the same with a different pin config? I have some accessories for my Phone Edition (XDA1) I would like to use. I can mod the plug if needed.
Thanks
on my PDA2, the storage memory says "Total memory: 59.68 MB"
now as far as I'm aware, the ROM stuff is installed on the flash memory, and i would say it would definitely take up more than 5MB (to equal a total of 64mb), so i'd say i have a 128mb ROM..
It has the same serial connection as the XDAII.. not sure if this is the same as the XDAI tho. i use all my xda II stuff with the PDA2.
Yea omni is right same specifications on my PDA2 aswell its is showing 64mb of FLASH ROM that means 64mb is hidden ...that maked 128 mb of rom...yea you can use all accessories of XDA1 on pda2..
BUT keep it in mind pda2 has serious problem of battery life...mine gives my standby time of 10 hours and when i am using the phone + pda its drainsin 6 to 8 hours...which is surely no match with XDA1 which gives around 1 whole day ...
Thank-you for the info.
i am wrong here infact pda2 uses the same accessories as ....i mate pocket pc which is xda2
How do you like the speaker (phone, etc) volume? Is it acceptable? I know there is issue with PDA2k.
As far as battery life, there are the entended batteries and the backpack available. Do you have the backpack?
every thing else was Ok only the battery problem is there ...but i sold my pda2
You all are wrong.
Himalaya(or Xda II for O2) has two types of memory:
1. RAM(volatile memory): 128mb total, 126mb user accessible
2. ROM(flash memory/ non-volatile memory): 64mb total, 14mb user accessible
You may ask why is the user accessible ROM so little. Actually, they are used to store your BIOS. It's just like when you hard reset your Xda II, the phone will install something(default drivers and softwares) at first. Don't forget, they are similar to Windows XP, occupies 64-14 = 50mb of ROM.
A = Once, I broke my O2 big screen, nothing is accessible until it was repaired. When I looked through my storage, all my info was inside, all intact.
B = In fact, I love ROM very much. The more user accessible ROM there is, the better.
A => B
Man...that thread...... was four years old.....

Q-TEC 9000 with Transcend 4GB SD slow transfer

Can anybody tell me how I can fix my transfer speed with ActifSync 4.0.
Because if I upload the transfer rate is about 100 kb/s.
Anyone with the same phone and sd-card please help me.
Thanks

If you want faster transfer speeds use a card reader. Using activesync the data first gets moved to the universal, then from the universal to the memory card. This is very slow due to the limited bus speed of the universal.
But with my 512 mb card, I get normal speed. I think you dont understand how slow it is. Let me explane.
512 mb > 3 sec 1 song
4 gb > 30 sec 1 song
Yesterday I bought a Transcend 4GB 150x SD card.
It's very slow; not only when using it in my HTC Universal, but also in the cardreader in my PC.
I'm going to return it tomorrow...
Jan after reading some reviews they say that it is one of the fastest cards. I think the problem is with the reader. I can now transfer at usb 1.0 speed with Card Export II.
Are there any app. with 2.0 support?

USB data transfer speed?

Hi guys,
I currently have a XDA Orbit and I'm thinking about buying the Touch2. The problem with the Orbit is the combination of poorly accessible microSD card and veeery slow data transfer rate via USB. Unless this hasn't been improved dramatically in the Touch2, it would be no buy for me.
Does anyone have some MB/min data?
It depends on the connection mode choosen. When choosing to connect it as a "disk", copying a 142MB folder takes about 35s, so it gives about 4MB/s. It probably also depends on the SD card speed and number of files to transfer.
I use already for some yrs "tnyynt tune up". Install attached CAB. Also your PC has faster and slower USB ports, select the right one.
Assume you connect storage card directly to PC and not via phone because that goes much slower.....
Have used several HTC devices (with Mega software) and speed was never a problem.
