I want to remove the battery8 icon and connection manager from the lower taskbar so did a search and came up with this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46713&highlight=remove+system+tray
which pointed me to this wiki

"Remove Icons from the Taskbar

HKLM\services\power\?ShowIcon === change from 1 to 0 (zero).
To Remove Screen Rotation:
HKLM\services\screenrotate\?ShowIcon === change from 1 to 0 (zero)
To Remove the Wireless connection manager
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\?WirelessMgr\keep and change the DWORD Keep to 0, soft-reset
If you remove all three icons, taskbar will be removed and more space on today screen."
So I use my trusty total commander, go to HKLM, go to the services directory but then don't see anything resembling ShowIcon or WirelessMgr. What am I missing here?
BTW, I have a Cing 8125 with Summitters 2.3 test2.

Those tweaks are for the universal not the wizard thats why you can't find the keys you want.
To remove the system tray just delete the init_tray.lnk from the windows\startup folder on your device and soft reset.
Mark, if I delete init_tray.lnk, will that let me use the space for the today screen instead, or is it still "reserved"?
Thanks

Yep will give you more space - make a copy of init_tray.lnk so you can put it back in the future if you need.

Oops, I didn't think to make a backup.. i'm sure someone will be able to provide it anyway should I need it in future.
I have a similar question along the same lines... pocket plus doesnt take up the whole today screen, is there a setting somewhere that i've missed, or maybe a regedit where you can specify the height of the today plugin?
Here is the backup file.
Sorry can't comment on pocket plus don't run that - me a much more basic kinda guy

Hi
as already told, you can remove Init_tray.lnk from startup. but be aware - this will make slight problems with software, which places icon in tray (CardExport, Pocket GPS Pro etc).
in addition you could gain more place by eliminating lower bar (with contacts and calender). they will be still accesible through soft-buttons, but will not take place on today screen.
i prefer dciNoBar
http://www.google.ru/search?hl=ru&q=dcinobar&lr=
(sorry, some links are in russian, but i think you will have no problems with finding download link).
if you like the result - you may add this program to startup folder so it will restart automatically after softreset.

Thats cool then if its possible - probably because i still have phm traylaunch and it stays where it normally is and i want it right at the bottom.
To take a screen capture use xnview download here http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=12698
its under tools\capture - i would be interested to see what setup you have and i will fiddle with mine a bit more - thanks
EDIT fiddled with it and yes - it works!!!! phm traylaunch is right at the bottom now. Nice one mate - cheers! Now I need some new themes - normal ones are not long enough.
EDIT2 can't get traylaunch to stay at the bottom - trying to sort out a workaround!
EDIT3 found a fix to keep phm traylaunch at bottom after softreset - open and shut keyboard and it moves to the bottom - GREAT!! v.v. grateful been looking for something like this for a while!

Thanks for the updated file.
Find enclosed a screen capture program - you can assign to a hard key.
through settings\buttons
Its only drawback is that it saves in bmp format
EDIT version 0.02 does not seem to work so well - on my device - the soft keys often don't seem to work, i only got them to work once - I go back to the other version.
No soft key buttons
I have put dcinobar into a cab for easier installation.
Copy cab onto device, click on cab, install to device and then soft reset.
VJToggleToday
For those using dcinobar - I have tried Vjtoggletoday and would have to say it works better. You can remove soft keys only, soft keys and start bar or startbar only - have it just the way you like it. Does not have the glitch dcinobar has where you need to open and shut the keyboard

What are people using for thier today plugins? I want to make the device run as quick as possible, with as much free program memory as possible, but i want some today plugins with the following functions: schedule/callender, shortcuts to programs, messages, call-time used during the month, gprs usage, weather, normal stuff really i guess.
What have people found to be the lowest memory-using programs?
Many thanks.
Just my topic! I am v memory conscious too. This is what I run
1. Batti - battery line meter at top of screen - only 20 kb footprint (v 1.41 the best)
http://pda.jasnapaka.com/batti/
2. LVM time - One line date plugin and covers battery icon with time
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45084
3. Dktoday 1.80 - shows carrier, calltime etc..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=9224
4. Today agenda v0.9.11 - calendar\task plugin - smashing!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=55296
5. Winmobileapps - Profiles - low resource app
http://www.winmobileapps.com/device/pocketpc/plt/plt_download.aspx
6. VjToggletoday - removes soft buttons for more screen space.
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjtoggletodayii/vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe
7. SBSH Pocket weather
http://www.sbsh.net/products/pocketweather/
8. SPB Gprs monitor - installed but plugin not visible and still works! - link to it in phm traylaunch.
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/gprsmonitor/?en
9. PHM Traylaunch - program launcher in the tray

I run ilauncher, pocketbreeze and weatherpanel, and I, too, have 25 mb free after a soft reset. but I use upx so maybe that's why.
Thanks for your replies.
I tried Batti, and it kept crashing my device. And can you get DK Today to count your SMS messages? I see you're on O2, I couldn't get that part of the program to work on my Mini S.
mattucd, what's upx?
Thanks a lot for your suggestions

With 02 you can't get the count messages to work as 02 don't allow a sent notification that dktoday needs to count sms's. You could use the wireless plugin to display operator logo.
Is there a low memory program to put shortcuts on Todayscreen like spb pocketplus does? I've tried traylaunch but I'd only wish it had a browse option to select files.

Try CLaunch - http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=300
It's freeware, small and may be easily customised. You are even able to use your own icons. n.b. you cannot creat shortcuts to files.
Thanks! Looks good, I'll try it.

I have cLaunch and have created shortcuts/icons to excel files.
decknologist: yes, in my experience, CLaunch is one of the most configurable launchers around (look me up on SourceForge. I'm a big advocate).
It can certainly launch .exe, .lnks etc, and all with command lines. Very useful for all of my junk!

I've been looking around, but did not find any fix for Re's launcher and slider. The original executable files we're using the system time (i.e. Greenwich meridean time) for the clock. So if your country is not located at 0.00 hours, the time will be all whacked out.
So I had to do it on my own! Here is the "fixed" executable files using Local time instead. I did not do any other modification. This is not my program and do not take credit for any of it, I just changed the time.
Get the complete files from here http://rychlicki.net/en/2007/04/01/174/
Then replace the executable files with mine. Hope you enjoy!
It works. I only have to do the WM2003 regfix and change most of the links
Can't find the options using PHM regeditor
Note : WM2003 manual workaround
2. Create string key "Current Operator Name" and provide your operator name
3. Create dword key "Signal Strength Raw" and give decimal value "100"
This will show the operator name you provided and signal strenght always 100%

How to change the launcher to work for screen size 240x240
hi guys, I would like to use Re's launcher and slider on my Hw6510 but the screen size is 240x240. so you see the problem. is it possible to fix the launcher and slider so I can see everything on the screen? thank you.
Files include the default WM6 alarm wavs, the original ringers including oldphone, Schap's purple theme (thanks!), the "no sounds" wavs to stop those menu clicks, Smartskey copied to \Program Files (but not activated), startclean to \Startup to remove program history and the green welcomhead.95 splash screen.
Reg tweaks include..
Notifications - removed "Connection Established" and set "Incoming Mail" to Alarm3
Sounds - disable annoying beeps when changing call volume or dropped calls
Inbox - disabled account selector, empty deleted items set to manual, return to inbox when deleting.
Pocket IE - temp files, history and cookies stored on storage card, Cleartype and search set to google.
Sleuth's google tweak for Windows Live Search
Screen size set to Largest, ClearType enabled including Landscape.
TimeZones tab displayed and enabled.
Battery removed from Today screen and replaced with clock and clock displayed on all screens.
Backlight changed from 30 seconds to 1 minute
Also, glyphcache is set at 32768, file system cache untouched, IR Beam turned off.
Cingular keyboard settings

edited 10-30-2007 DP_WM6 with Vibrate is a slightly modified WM6 cab with AT&T Splash removed, Security Policies modified for unsigned cabs and RAPI access (Mobile Registry Editor won't give a "access denied", HSDPA icon (when available) and also, with Schaps' permision, his neat looking com manager vibrate file. Schaps Vibrate is renamed to allow installing this into a ROM that already has Vibrate. Delete either my Schaps_TrayIcon_MannerMode or TrayIcon_MannerMode from \Windows\Startup. BTIcon, latest XMMobiResetter and Landscape Cleartype are included. This is the same cab as the DP_WM6 with Vibrate & Batteryguage without the RandomAccess and Batterguage.
edited 10-16-2007 DP_WM6 with Vibrate
Added new cab with clean 3G Icon, latest xmmobitvresetter in \Windows\Startup. Also made the BTIcon a shortcut per Kyphur's suggestion. Also, Schaps Vibrate is renamed to allow installing this into a ROM that already has Vibrate. Delete either my Schaps_TrayIcon_MannerMode or TrayIcon_MannerMode from \Windows\Startup.
Also included is a barebones registry and clean 3G cab, no files except for the clean 3g file.
edited 10-31-2007 DP_WM6 with Vibrate & Batteryguage
Removed the themes and Samsung Clock. Added TWEAKCL.EXE to \Windows\Startup for Landscape Cleartype. Also added ClearType Tuner to the Control Panel and the RandomAccess Grey files, also BTIcon, latest XMMobiResetter and the Alarrm 1-5 files.

yes sir you are correct, i did it all with xml.. if you open my cab with wince and click on the pre and post xml under the provisioning category you will see the xml code i hacked up all the different xml files for settings and made 2 seperate ones.. if you decide to do a similar thing, make sure you leave out the first and last lines "<WAP-PROVISIONING DOC>" .... Wince does not like these...
My findings for settings
Nice job !
In between multiple flahes of various roms I found a big relief in skipping the first windows dialogs with date, mail, touch calibration etc. by adding a blank file "welcome.not" in the root of the storage card and add the touch settings [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\CalibrationData] in my own settings cab.
It works very well for me, so I thought I'd share it.
cheers,
dan
Recently, I've been playing around with the Diamond sensor APIs seeing how things work, and thinking of ways to apply them to apps.
As you may well know, iContact has very long lists in it, which can be a tad tedious to scroll through if you have loads of contacts, so I've added support for both the touch "wheel", and the gsensor.
This is based on iContact 0.91
To use:
You can scroll with the wheel like iPods click wheels. Clockwise goes down the list, counterclockwise goes up the list.
You can scroll with the gsensor by tapping the centre button and then tilting the device up or down to scroll up or down the list. Releasing the centre button will stop the scrolling.
Currently, landscape (probably) won't work with the gsensor.
Thanks to supbro, truburt and larna for iContact, and Scott Seligman for how to use the sensors.
Since iContact is GPL, you can grab the source code as well as a cab below!
Changes:
iContact BE now supported as well!
0.91.1 - An updated scrolling mechanism to make a steeper tilt move faster.
New version with better scrolling now available.
how i install it ?

Download the 0.91.1 cab file, copy it to your device, and then run it from file explorer.
would you be willing to consider it for truburt's edition?

If I can get the source, it shouldn't be too hard.
Quick Q:
Can i just install the iContact.Sensors cab and keep my current iContact version but adding gsensor capability to it?
Thanks very much.

No. This uninstalls the previous one, and then installs the new one.
I will test it right now
Thank you, will test it right away!
Looks promising
I tried it, but it makes scrolling in iContacts imho very nervous. Re-installed original iContacts ....

Is the normal scrolling (i.e. finger scrolling) affected? It shouldn't be as I haven't touched the code for that!
If I understand the first post correctly I simply have to place my thumb on the center sensor(not depress) and tilt and the scrolling should begin?
If that is correct can you expand that capability into any windows application?
Maybe incorporating something along with Gcontroller here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429569

That is correct. I think creating a system wide service may prove more difficult, as in iContact, all it does is simulate a key down event with VK_DOWN or VK_UP. This may not be quite what's wanted depending on the application.
I've been looking at ways of expanding butler, and so far I've built in screen rotation, launching applications for every event and one or two other tricks, but system scrolling could be another one to add.
hi,
if you want scroll in iContact do this:
Create a key and value, as below
HKLM/Software/HTC/SmartTouch/iContact
(String Value) ClassName = iContact
(DWORD Value) Mode = 4
(DWORD Value) WheelCount = 2
easy to create, work fine for me....

have fun

That works with the scroll wheel, but not with the gsensor. And, since I needed some of the scroll wheel things to be able to have the gsensor working well, I decided I may as well integrate both functions.
hi,
yes you're right, it work only with the wheel....
It's a ery simple solution to scroll with wheel in many soft, i use Burt icontact insted icontact 0.9 so your solution do not work for me, my solution is not perfect but for people whose just want wheel scroll it's perect and easy and it works on every soft if you have the name of the soft's CLASS.
But your solution is cool for people who use iContact 0.9.
congratulation

brilliant idea, like the way you have done it.
You have managed to improve a already great program!
thanks very much
Is it possible without the touching the center?
