Socket SDIO WLAN Tools works now! Hanza found out that the smartphone version works on Magneto!
Get it here:

Download the Wifi Companion software here
http://www.socketcom.com/support/support_wlan.asp?Type=WiFi
I used the cab file (i has a 3 day trail)
Install the Wlan tools en then install Wifi companion.
Softreset and then put your Wifi on with the Commmanager.
The start Wifi Companion and it must work.
I'm still testing if everything is working OK.
So tried it on your own risk.
If you install Wifi Companion alone you get a error message that he is missing files from Wlantools.
If you remove Wlantools it's not working anymore.
Working for me.
French Rom, and no problem.
More graphical and UI based than Cirond that I used before.
Martinlbb
First test ... looks great.
But I get the following error on start-up: "ActivateDevice failes, code 964 hex". Could be that it throws that error when WLAN is still in off mode when rebooting. Can I keep the WLAN to autoconnect at startup?
But ... costs 25$ ... that's much for a little utility.
you should be getting the error unless you copied a DLL file to make it a full version (or used the wrong version)
when using the CAB file it works great, for 3 days
I tried installing the SDIO_WLAN_Sagem.exe but it gives me errors when executing it.
Then I installed the wifi companion cab :
Wi-Fi Companion for Windows Mobile 5.0 Drivers and Software (Advanced Users Only)
Select #1. CAB file for Windows 2005.
1.2 MB
and after soft reset all I got was a blocked popup windows (couldn't see the message)
next thing, hard reset
Using just the CAB file works perfectly.
the problem is that most download an other version and use the wrong CAB file or DLL File.
Just install the software without any extra drivers (do not install the SDIO software, only the compagnion)
PS most DLL files out there are for windows 2003 version and do not work

Hi
I have purchased French map software for a PDA and it works fine on my iPaq 4150. In order for the software to work you have to download the PPC version from within the PC program however it refuses to download the software to the iMate JAM as it does not recognise the device. I would like to manually download this file to the jam and see if it can be manually installed. There is no cab file on the CD for me copy so is there a method by which i can create a cab file from my ipaq installation and reinstall on to the jam.
Any suggestions would be great as i am becoming a bit unstuck as their support desk only speak french and unfortunately mine is of the pidgeon variety.
Thanks

Usually the cabs created after installation in Program Files of your PC or in Microsoft ActiveSync folder...search or browse...
Editing or changing the compatible device used the "WinCE Cab Manager" (google it)
Anyone got TomTom 5 working with Windows Mobile 5?
I received my k-Jam this morning but the setup.exe bombs out so I cannot get TT5 installed at all
any help appreciated!
thanks
Try to install the .cab file instead, it should work.
thanks but I have tried that. 3 of the 4 CAB files install but the main one (ttn.cab) - looks like its going to install ok and then you get "the file....installation was unsuccesful".
Any ideas?
Nothing on the TT site - I'm surprised that X51v or other early Windows Mobile 5 users have not been onto this one?
It seems like a problem with Activesync 4.0 initially but as the cab files don't work i guess we need a patch from them?
anyone got it working?
thanks
TomTom 5 install Problem
I had the same problem with the auto run procedure on my mini SD card.
I solved the problem by navigating to the '2577' folder and running each cab file directly on the phone (didnt use activesync). This seemed to work for me.
However, now Im having trouble with bluetooth com ports. Tomtom configuration does not show the port numbers assigned to my paired gps reciever.
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29282&highlight=tt5+kjam+qtek+wm5
Let me know how well tt5 runs on the k-jam ie how smooth etc as i'm awaiting my miniSD so can't try it yet!
TomTom Navigator 5.10 works with Windows Mobile 5 and Activesync 4 - but it's NOT easy. The instructions in this thread got it working for me (though I used COM4 instead of COM0):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=28386
Also I found that the bluetooth GPS had to be locked on to a signal for TomTom to see it at first - was fine after that.
Although my device is a HTC Universal, it has the same OS and Activesync version as your Wizard so there's no reason why it shouldn't work. Go to the above link and enjoy

I had the same problem. All cabs would install except the ttn cab. Here's how I solved it.
1. uninstall everything
2. install gps.cab
3. remove sd card and soft reset (this is the important bit)
4. install ttn.cab and this time it should work
Thanks for your help guys.
sl9; How did you get 5.1 to upgrade? After copying the files from the downloaded RAR file I tried to run the setup.exe file on the phone but get a message telling me that the file is not a valid windows mobile program (perhaps it is a smartphone program).

The setup.exe is meant to be run on your PC, it uses activesync. Obviously we know this doesn't work so the solution is to get the 5.10 upgrade from TomTom website as the ZIP FILE, NOT THE EXE - this is important
Anyway, extract the zip, and copy the directory with the 4 cab files in it to your SD card (where you have the map on). Then execute the cabs one by one, using the tip by jdee246 above if any of the cabs don't want to install.
After you install it, then the fun begins trying to get the damn thing to recognise your GPS device, see the link in my earlier post for a guide
Thanks guys - the soft reset seemed to do it. The manual install worked fine in the end.
I now have to wait for TomTom support to give me a code as I already had two a few months back so I can't report on how well it runs yet. Overall tho the Wizard/k-Jam is pretty slow - esp for screen refreshes.
I did try the BAKONL hack which I use to test TomTom on various devices but the ttn.cab on that patch just will not install for me under Win Mob 5.
thans
Thanks to all for your help.
Managed to get Tomtom 5.1 up and running. 5.1 seems to have fixed the gps connectivity problem.
The software runs on the K-JAM just as fast as it did on my QtekS110, with no problems yet.

Hello ,
How can I install the folder "voices" because it's not a ".cab" ?
Thanks for your help.....
Who had install Tomtom 5 on the K-jam ?
Because it's too hard for me and I don't understand everything .... :?
Thanks for your help !!!!
In total you have to copy 4 files from your wm2003 device and paste to wm2005 in these dir:
mobile device\tomtom\CurrentMap.dat
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.bmp (voice files on cd)
\TomTom\TomTom\data05.chk (voice files on cd
\Program Files\navigator\data.chk
\Program Files\navigator\tomtom navigator.exe
\Program Files\navigator\navigator.cfg
that's all.
data05.bmp and .chk is for example, you can choose one of your own voices.
Look this up on your device other wise i send you my files so you can try them.
Good Luck
GuidO
Thanks for your help !!!!!
I try this tomorrow ....
regards.
T-Mobile MDA Compact
Hi Guys
I seem to also be having problems with my MDA.
I can install tom-tom just fine, but for some reason it just doesnt recognise my Bluetooth GPS receiver. The receiver brand & model is as per this page:
http://www.qstarz.com/html/products_BT-Q770.htm
I have enabled COM 4 & 5 in the bluetooth settings page and configred tomtom to connect using either com4 or com5 but it just doesnt work.
Any help in solving this problem would be much appreciated!
Many Thanks!
This for all of you who are still having problems...
This is what i did to get my Tomtom working on my T-mobile MDA Compact:
1. uninstall tomtom using add/remove programs.
2. using file explorer deleted the following folders:
\tomtom
\program files\navigator
\program files\contacts navigation
3. Using a registry editor - browse the software sub-folders of HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and delete any tomtom, tomtom navigator, and/or tomtom gps/ tomtom bluetooth supprt folders.
(in order to avoid steps 1,2,3 you can also perform a hard reset after you have backed up all your data & files)
4. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> DRIVERS -> BUILTIN -> BTINSerial
5. Now change the index key from 4 to 6.
6. Exit the registry editor.
7. Soft reset your MDA.
8. Now install TTN5
9. After following the initial setup prompts of TTN5 exit it.
10. Now install tomtom nav. 5.1 (update available from the tomtom website)
11. Go back into tomtom and select "change preferences"
12. Go into GPS CONFIGURATION
13. Select Other Bluetooth
14. Select COM5
15. Click Done
16. Give tomtom about 10 seconds and your GPS navigation should now work OK!!!!
Hope this helps everyone who is trying to get this to work. I have spent a lot of time trying to find a solution that works and this i feel is it!
Needless to say use this solution at your own risk - all i can say is that its worked for me!
once installed, use this procedure.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32267
It works 100%

ttn.CAB won't install despite reset
Tried installing TT5.0 on my Vario, but no luck. Like posted before, it won't install ttn.CAB. I tried:
removing all TT files, also from registry
soft reset,
installing gps.CAB,
remove SD,
soft reset,
then install ttn.CAB
but it still says 'installation failed'. Aaarrrggghhhhh
Any ideas, anyone?
Hi all,
Having a spot of trouble trying to install anything onto my MDA Vario, I generally search for WM5 software/games and everytime I try to install I get this message.
XXXXX is not a valid pocket PC application
Any clues?
Thanks
Sounds like your installing an exe that needs to be installed via pc using activesync. You can download activesync from the M$ website. The latest version is 4.2 as far as i know.
If you are downloading exe files, try opening them on the pc first. Most of the exe files are installation files that need to be executed from the computer. Some, very few, are actually compiled executables that only have to be copied to the PPC and run from there.
You will also come across CAB files. These files are my preference because you just copy them to the PPC and execute it there, and it installs the files right on the PPC.
Had a problem running activesync, it used to loop my pc when I attached the device. Since then I reinstalled XP Pro OS and reinstalled activesync (probably old version conflicting)
It now works a treat and loads up all my software!
Many thanks
Hi guys / gals
I have an XDA11i and want to add .net compact 2.0 to it so that I can run hitchhiker or wififofum etc .
How do I install the .net framework ? do I just add it to the active sync folder and let it get patched across ? or do I load it to another folder on the Pda and run it ?
Am having fun with my work network whih at the moment is stopping me down loading the file any way but I believe my It dept can get round that one for me.
Help greatfully appreciated

I am a bit unclear:
In which format is the installation you have?
Usually you download the desktop installer from MS. (I believe it is an .msi file). Then you just connect you device, double click on the file on your PC and it does everything else automatically.
If you just have the .cab file, copy it to your device, then click on it from the file explorer (on the device).
That's it.
If you need to download it you can do it here.
Easiest way: dock your Alpine.
Download and run the .msi file from the Microsoft URL mentioned above (it's the latest version of the .net compact framework). Let the installation run its course, and as it goes it'll transfer the CABs over to your device and then they'll install. I don't think (if memory serves) any user intervention is actually required.
One soft reset later: bang, you're sorted.
Thanks guys
Took your advice and all sorted , as you said it does it all its self , no intervention .
Now have hitchhiker and wififofum all up and running although a big drain on system rescources .

Hi guys,
Just got my new Touch Diamond on Thursday and so I'm trying out all the awesome software on here! Except I can't...
I've installed Advanced Config, GSen, and Diamond TF3D Config. I've tried to install:
-DiamondHologram
-TomTom 7 for Diamond (TTN_7.450.9028.cab)
I just get a notification saying "Installation of name of cab was unsuccessful".
I haven't done any ROM upgrades, unlocks. I have only installed the new Google Maps 2.2.0.19 and the .NET 3.5.
Is there any reason why I can't install these applications? It's doing me nuts because I can't install half of these wicked apps!
Thanks guys
James
Can anyone help? Please?!?
Same here... and i'm going mad. Seems this issue affects random cabs. I succesfully installed your same TomTom version, but I can't install G-sensor Calibrate, or even TotalCommander...
I tried to update to Project V3.3 but issue is still there with the same cabs.
Any ideas?
I also tried disabling security warning by using Schap's Advanced Config. Nothing changed.
random
as you said it is a random effect... same prb here.... but i saw something odd...
i downloaded a cab with opera installed on htc and selected "open" when it asks what to do with the file... download complete but instalation unsuccessfull.
i've downloaded the same file but saved it on the storage and after that i installed... and surprise it worked! maybe it is a memory prblm.... i don't know!
this method does'nt work with every cab
Weird thing! I re-downloaded two cabs, moved to diamond... installation succeded. But i still not know if it was because of corrupted cabs or a Diamond problem.
Anyway I'll try to do a simple cab corruption check (try open the cab with a compressor like 7zip wich is free) for the next cabs.
Just for ask: did you download your "cannot install" cab with a download manager?

no... just using opera from the diamond
Same problem here... I have some CABs which dont fail and some which fail... Very anoying problem
I confirm i solved my problems by downloading WITHOUT any download manager or download accelerator all cabs on my pc, then check them with 7zip, then copy to my Diamond and install.
It's a bit strange way to get cabs installed but it's a safe method.
You can also choose to use download managers or download with your pda to download cabs, but you have to check them later if they don't install and... re-download them.
I also found solution which someone could explain....
I upload all SW using active sync and not USB drive and all what was not working now works.
So what is wrong here?

I have the same problem when the device - an o2 XDA Diamond - is connected in "Disk Drive" mode.
Whenever I transfer files from a Windows Server 2003 system (w/o Service Pack) to the "Internal Storage" of my Diamond the files become corrupted on the device.
This happens with any file type, but only with larger files - they become corrupted when they are several megabytes in size.
This doesn't happen randomly, it happens every time.
Reading large files from the "Internal Storage" works without problems.
When I transfer the very same files from a Windows XP system then they are OK on the device.
Also when I transfer the files in "Active Sync" mode the files are OK, but the "Active Sync" transfers are randomly aborted and the sync is lost.
I knew I'm not the only one with that problem, but I never found any information.
The ROM is the newest official one, 1.93.207.2.
Of course the Windows Server 2003 system transfers large files to other flash storages - camera, card reader and other Pocket PCs - without any problems.
My only advice is to transfer the cab to your internal storage using disk drive option the disconnect your Diamond and see if that works. e.g navigate to the cab using diamond file explorer then double tap on cab should install ok then
Sorry, doesn't work for me, but I thought that it was clear. (Because I wrote all info, like Service Pack, etc.)

You dont understand this... The file is corrupted while transfering via USB Drive but OK if we use ActiveSync... We know how to install CAB files. there is not problem.
BTW, I have Win2000 so it might be same as mentioned 2003...
I will try on another system and see how it works.
I just installed Windows XP SP3 on my machine: SAME PROBLEM!!
thedino, what mainboard do you have and how old is it and what is its USB version (1.0, 1.1, 2.0)? I have a K7S5A with USB 1.1.
For now I have to assume that HTC produced crap and that I'm gonna send my Diamond back.
I bought an USB card for PCI and there is no problem when connecting the HTC Diamond to this card.
No data corruption at all.
So obviously it must be something with onboard USB chipsets, but it's definitely a problem on HTC's side,
else these onboard USB chipsets wouldn't work correctly with any other USB device.

I had the same problem (either "installation unsuccessful" or just gets stuck during installation). I was using changescreen v2.5 for handling the display rotation. Apparently this software has a conflict with the .cab installer. It was enough to disable changescreen, then run the .cab, then re-activate changescreen again.
Hope that this helps.

Temporary Fix
Try this
Rename the cab file with a different extension, eg TotalCommander.cab to TotalCommander.txt. Do this on your computer.
Select the file within Windows Explorer and do the usual "Edit -->Copy" to copy the file.
Establish ActiveSync connection with your Diamond and using "File Management" select the Internal Storage of your Diamond. Then select "Paste" to paste the file into the internal storage of your DIamond. Rename the file back to having the .cab file extension by using the explorer shell you opened through ActiveSync.
Unplug Diamond from the USB and ensure ActiveSync on your Diamond is not active. Using file explorer program on your Diamond tap on the cab to install it.
The only alternative is uninstall all extra apps you have put on one by one and try to install other cabs as some of these may conflict with the cab install OR you can update your ROM from the 1.93 series to the 2 series.
Let me know if this temporary fix works. Best of luck.
