Speed dial hardware button mapping - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi,
Just moved from an XDA IIi to the Mini S.
On the IIi I used to be able to press left on the dpad when in the dialer app and go straight to my list of preset speed dials. This doesn't seem to work on the Mini. Any ideas how I can get this working on the mini as I used this feature so much, being without it is making life hardwork!
Cheers.
Andy.

Don't know about mapping it to a dpad, that's up to you, but check out VJPhoneShortcuts on my webpage. Shortcuts for Speed dial and speakerphone etc.
V

Thanks for that will give it a go.

Gr8 stuff V,
i was wondering how to map these shortcuts to the navigation pad?
is there a way to link them to it while in phone mode?
Cheers,

Check out VITO Button Mapper - commercial app, but allows application specific button assignments.

Not sure if it WM5 yet, but ButtonMax by is a wonderous program. From memory it was the only app that permitted mapping to the Dpad. And that also does program specific mappings.
V

ButtonMax is a peach of an application - unfortunately version 2.10 is not compatible with wm5 - a wm5 compatible version is due in March.

Larger phone pad buttons

I am looking for an application that has a larger phone pad number buttons.
I find it very difficult to dial numbes with one hand, with out using the stylus. I already started and installed .NET and the Mobile SDK, but I figured if someone wrote it before me, why not use it.
So, does anyone knows of such a util?
no need to write some software, just modify the dial pad skin files
K, thanks.
My next Q will be for a refernace or an How to/guide for mobile tweaking.
Where can I find one?
I can see your quite new to this forum, so a big Welcome to the Club!
There are tons of tweaks and hacks and what I would suggest is just to use the "search" function whenever you think of a tweak you want.
One thing I would recommend is the BigStorage ROM hack. There are so many topics about this. If you're into listening to MP3's, there's a BT patch.
I too want to know how to make the phone pad button larger
I have big finger... and its very hard to deal when everytime I press, 3 or 4 button gets pressed
Can someone give us some pointer?
Modify Dailer Pad Skin
How to modify dail pad skin. Is there any link which gives info about modifying?
Thanks in advance.
Please do a search before starting a topic.
All of your questions are wellcomed of course but by a few key strokes you can find everything u wany.

I took am after this but all the ones I can find either are WM2005 only or have screenshots only showing WM2005 - which ones work on Magician 2003?

Hi,
I could not find any programme or tips to modify the Dail pad. I do not want to change the skins of dial pad. I want to make the dail pad buttons (numbers) biger so that i can dail the number using my finger.
Thanks

Remapping D-Pad while on Phone screens

I've been searching for a while for a re-mapper/utility that will remap the d-pad to move around the numbers while on the Phone screen. Currently the D-pad does nothing while you're in the Phone dialing or call screen. It would make the Wiz into a great one-handed device if I can get the D-pad to move around the on-screen numbers pad. The center button can emulate pressing of the on-screen numbers. This way I can use one hand to enter the phone number and not having to use use my hands or the stylus while on-the-go.
I know I can slide out the keyboard but are you able to slide the KB out with 1 hand and use the number keys? I tried and it's VERY awkward and you'll have to remember to press the dot twice to enable the numbers. I'd rather not do that in a time of emergency.
Any one has tried to make this happen? Is there an app out there which will do this? This plus smartkeys/smallmenu will make the Wiz the ultimate one-handed device.
Anyone? am I the only one with a Wiz wishing for this function? I guess people like touching the screen with their hands more than I thought...
I would really be interested in something that could achieve this. I have my K-JAM in a PDAir case and being able to simply dial numbers with the keypad would be great. Rather than scroll through the contact list or opening the cover to access the keypad.
On Himalaya the D-pad had function in the dialer to get to call history and speed dial. That would help too.

I want that too!! Like was in my Magician...
hi all,
A cool Japanese Freeware called FakeCursor does this. It doesn't tab between fields, but emulates a Dpad controlled 'mouse'.
There is a program called AEKmap that allows you to remap the keyboard.
I have attached several layouts I made for the Phone and Calculator for use with AEKmap. (2 of the layouts work in AEKmap free mode, the other 6 require $20 activation to avoid NAG screen.)

btw on my qtek9100 the keyboard is automatically in number mode while in the phone application. I don't need to push the blue dot twice.
I'd just as soon se a remapper that brought back the WM 2003SE phone functionality (right - Call Histtoey, left - Speed dial, etc.)
It's a shame M$ took that out in WM5

"I got an idea. Let's make our new phones LESS functional. That'll give us a leg up on the competition."
*Everyone else there*
"BRILLIANT!!!"
Did anyone create an aek file for mapping the alfa keys of the hardware k/b to the phonepad values.
ie: pressing a, b or c generates the code that is recognized by smartdialer (and interpreted as a, b or c respectively)
This way we can use the h/w keyboard letter-keys in the smartdialer!
This is especially handy when youre using the Wizard in your car in the landscape brodit holder (on-screen 'keys' are simply too small to be used safely)
it would be very cool.
wonder if Water can extend SmartyKeys for that - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41060

using SmartDialer through Hard Keyboard??

is there a way to do it?
to dial through dialer we have to use touchscreen; is there a way by which we use the hard keyboard and find contact through smart dialer and dial through the smart dialer screen...??

The SmartDialer will open if you use the number keys on the hardware keyboard whilst on the today screen. Only problem if you have to remember which letters correspond to which keys, at least for the 1st digit...
exactly....
now how about if a small application is made that does the following:
Check if it is the dialer skin
if true
only then
when
on hard keyboard
a or b or c is pressed simulate as 2 is pressed
d or e or f is pressed simulate as 3 is pressed
g or h or i is pressed simulate as 4 is pressed
j or k or l is pressed simulate as 5 is pressed
and soon till Z.
now the problem is that i'm not a developer; so the request goes to all the developers out there to make such a thing.
PQz for Universal is a software which does activities with the Hard Keyboard. so, if the developer of PQz is looking at this thread then you are requested to do some magic.

i'd already suggested this to tom to add this same feature into pqz....he told me he could identify if the phone application was active or not...
so, i guess we dont have that feature until tom figures it....!
S
well, he may get the solution from the software "smartSkey 0.4" somewhere at XDA-DEVELOPERS....
smartSkey 0.4 is a software that changes the function of the volume slider in UNIVERSAL to page scroll up/down; this version 0.4 judges if the application is phone then it doesn't work as a page scroll but as a normal volume slider...
please tell TOM about this so that he may find a way to identify the phone application....
developers...
please make such an application....
no one so far??

Voice Dialing on Diamond2?

Hello all, I am looking at picking up a Diamond 2 variant (Probably the NextG one so I can get 850 3G), but wondered if Voice Dialing is support or included with the Diamond2 anywhere?
Also how easy is it to get to and actually do a voice dial of a contact? My Touch Cruise had voice tags assigned to whatever function or contact and that was easy enough, but it also has a hardware key for voice dialing only...The Diamond2 does not have that hardware key and so I wonder how easy it is to actually access the command and utilize it without going in several menus, etc.
voice command
Hi,
I used MSVC on 6.1 , installed it on 6.5 , working well no probs.
Did it come with VC then? Or did you have to use a cooked ROM to get it, or did you buy it?
How easy is it to us VC once installed...can you assign a button to voice dialing, or is it an icon you can have on your Home screen readily accessible?
I am using only cooked ROMs and can confirm that on most of them (WM6.1 or WM6.5) Cyberon VSD is working perfect. You can either run Cyberon VSD from the left hard key or from the BT headset's button.
What is the "left hard key" exactly?

The send button which you use to answer a phone.
The retail version of Cyberon Voice Commander (not VSD, MSVC-like ) works great on Diamond 2. It supports BT button, and you can set dialing key or volume-up/volume-down keys as hardkey from its Settings.
You can download this version from Cyberon's website.
If you search this forum for "cyberon voice dialer" you'll find a cab that fits for you.

What are you guys using to map the Back & Home keys?

I've been trying to get these keys mapped to other functions on several different ROMs with AEButtons (performance is bad) and Rhodium Keyboard Controller. I really like the RKC program but for some reason it seems to make the on screen Start menu and Settings menu become unresponsive in 6.5 ROMs (218XX ROMS). I really need to stick to a 218XX 6.5 ROM but I don't want to give up this functionality. Is there another way to map these keys without this program or is there something that I'm missing?
BTW, I'm using a T-Mobile USA version. And I'm mapping the software to a program called Task Switch, which is basically like using Alt + Tab in Windows OS to toggle btwn open programs. It seems to be the Keyboard controller program that's causing the error but I haven't rulled out that it may be Task Switch as well. Anyone else have this problem or other suggestion for mapping keys?
Tarkin keyboard controller is the absolute best.
It allows you to remap any key to many different option, including translations of other languages.
There are some big threads about it.
I am using the Rhodium Keyboard Config app found in this forum...very easy to map ant key.
