Power Profiles - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Does anyone which cab or software pack installs the o2 Power Profiles software or if other software is available that does that same thing?

Had PPC2003 - Installed XDA-Developers Update...

I had Pocket PC 2003 on my phone. Installed the XDA-developers software to unlock additional bandwidth. ROM flashed OK but notice missing dual volume controls (one PDA, one phone). Cannot display / not display some items in menu now. But I DO have better cell service. What version of PPC do I now have? Want to add software but don't know what PPC version I have.

Hi
I think i will be a great idea to open a Thread for everyone to recommend about the best software and hardware for the wizard.
I recommend these programs:
1 - battery pack - you can see info about battery and memory, you can
switch between open windows, you can close running programs easily
2 - Vidya registry editor - you can edit the registry nicely
3 - Notem - let you record any audio include phonecalls
4 - Tv remote controller - let you control any device by infrared port.
now lets hear yours
Here are mine :
- xBar 3 - taskbar tool that allow switch from an application to another easily and lot more.
- PocketZenPhone : phone profile switcher/manager
- Sunnysoft Backup Manager : the only backup solution I know for WM 5.0
- Microsoft Voice Command
- SPB GPRS Monitor : complete solution for measuring the amounts of data transfers via your GPRS
- SPB Pocket Plus : Today plug-in with tabs. Close button that really closes. ZIP support in File Explorer. And many other features missing in WM 5.0
My list
1. Total Commander (free, excellent, and also provides an integrated registry editor)
2. Magic Button (free, fully functional task switching app, with an effective battery monitor)
3. Pocket Informant 2005 (by far the best PIM, and worth the $25 or whatever it is)
4. PQz keyboard mapper (free, gives you CTRL and ALT keys -- see http://www.nicque.com/PQz/)
5. SPB GPRS Monitor (best metering tool for GRPS)
As for voice command, and some other apps... I don't know if WM2005 doesn't increasingly provide those features. MS is doing the same as it did with the desktop in playing a wait & see strategy -- let the entrepreneurial developer community build the useful apps and then just integrate those features into the O/S.
Greg.
SPB GPRS Monitor is that one workin good on the Qtek 9100 or K-Jam?..
Bought it a few days ago, have noticed that it has a tendens to crash all the time. When i go from wlan to gprs etc etc it crashes. Any1 else havin probs?
Problems with GPRS generally
I'm having general problems with GPRS on the device in general, so I've disabled everything non-core to isolate them.
My unit's often crashing just when I turn it on and it starts checking for new e-mail.
Perhaps you're having a similar problem (e.g., rather than it being specific to GRPSMonitor?)

does the tv remote controller work with the wizard? i thought the infrared port on the wizard was commercial grade.

using SKYPE with the Universal like a normal phone

recently the Eten M600 team came out with a ROM upgrade that allows for the PDA to utilize the phone speakers when using Skype. The user uses the PDA as a normal phone to make Skype calls without the use of headset or external speakers (where everyone around you can hear what the conversation is about).
Is such a hack possible with the HTC Universal? It would be really cool if we could use our PDA as a normal phone when talkin on Skype instead of relying on accessories if we do not want to use the speakerphone.
or am i just dreaming and if i wanted to, i would have to switch to the m600?

You can use the Universal as a normal phone when talking on Skype. It doesn't need any hacking or tampering. It never even occurred to me to plug the headset in before using Skype.
well for me when i use skype, the sound comes out from the main speakers and not the phone speaker which is what i want to. any ideas?
Bizarre!
You using the latest version?
yeah i am using the latest Skype which was released on Feb 14th. and my HTC Universal is loaded with the latest Qtek ROM which supports A2DP and Push-Mail.
Basically the sound comes out from the main speakers which are located on the same side as the volume slider, IR port and a few other buttons.
I would like to direct the sound to the speaker which I use when I talk on the phone on a normal phone conversation and without any accessories such as headset or BT headset.
Are you sayin that your sound comes from the phone speaker and not the main speakers?

Yes; when I use Skype on the Universal I use it in exactly the same way I would make a normal call i.e. by holding the phone to my ear like any other phone. The sound comes out of the speaker on the lid of the universal, not from the stereo speakers on the edge.
I'm using the latest ROM (Orange), the latest radio ROM and a combination of iMate and Orange Extended ROMs.
I am experiencing the same problem. I have the latest QTEK ROM and installed the latest version of Skype (2.0). When I make a Skype call the sound gets routed through the main speaker and not the telephone speaker. Also, when I try to connect my bluetooth headset Microsoft Voice Command gets activated and disconnects my bluetooth hands free connection after not recognizing the voice tag.
Well, the only thing that leaps off the page at me is the fact that you're both using the Qtek ROM whilst I'm using the Orange one. Could that be it, d'you think?
that could be one reason but i am not really keen at doin a full hard reset just to test it out. wonder what's the difference in ROM between the Qtek and Orange.
by the way, does your Orange ROM come with Skype pre-installed? or did you install it yourself?
Er...off the top of my head, I think I installed it myself.
hmm thats weird considerin that you are on the latest orange ROM because there are people with the same orange ROM who have sounds coming out from the main speakers and not the phone ones.
Another thought, though I can't imagine it'd make a difference, is that I only use Skype over a WiFi connectio, not GPRS.
i am also using SKYPE over a WIFI connection but it still comes out of main speakers. and even when I use 3G/GPRS, it comes out of the main speakers too. could you list out the programs you installed?

I think this is a known SKYPE mobile software issue and according to the SKYPE forum they are working to resolve this issue in their next release software.

i noticed your tomtom installation and i think you're using tomtom5.0 right? you mean you managed to get it to work with your universal? i only managed to get 5.21 to work with it.
No, I'm also running 5.21.
i see. thanks for the info.
well i went over to skype website and their developers said that the next release of skype will solve the sound coming out from main speakers problem.
hopefully that fix comes soon.

[Q] Looking for Phone Profile Switcher suggestions

Can anyone recommend a Phone Profile switcher as either a Today plug-in or bottom tray icon?
I've seen mention of the free Winmobileapps Phone Profiles http://www.winmobileapps.com/device/pocketpc/plt/plt.aspx but I was hoping to find a profiler which could read my calendar and switch into meeting mode automatically.
I found exactly that in another free application called PPC Profiles Pro, but this thread from the developer mentions this software wasn't designed for WM5.0 and may not work properly: http://www.modaco.com/MDA-Vario-and-PPCProfiles-t232911.html
I guess I don't mind paying for an application that can switch profiles and autoswitch when I want it to, but free or not - any suggestions?
You may want to give PhoneAlarm a try...
http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.htm
Yes phonealarm and pocketzenphone should do what you want, PZP at http://www.pocketzenphone.net/PZPForum/index.php
PPC Profiles does work on the wizard - just I didnt like the look of it.
I use Phone profiles as it has a small footprint and easy to use. Also reminds me most of smartphone or nokia interface that I used to use so I feel at home = hopefully an update soon.
Thanks for the feedback! I installed the PPC Profiles software and agree, the interface is kludgy. I think it's just trying to do too much on the main screen. I installed the winmobileapps software and it seems just fine. I like how I can use this to go into Flight Mode, too. It will be very cool when they add wi-fi to the list of things it can control.

WM5 tweaks don't work on Athena??

I purchased and unlocked HTC original Advantage x7500 so I can use in the US with my tmobile account. It has WM5 on it, since the WM6 os has not been release. I have downloaded and installed TotalCommander for registry editing. I am finding that the standart wm5 tweaks found in the wikipedia thread do not work. For instance, a lot of the registry keys do not match up. I cannot even find the key to change the clock display in the taskbar according to the site here. Is there a difference in WM5 across devices?? I would think the OS is the OS no matter what device is resides on?? Am I just missing something?

THanks.

most of the tweaks are for aku <2 your athena comes with aku 2 or maybe 3 or 3.5 so some reg entries may differ
Best tweak I've found yet is to download the 30 day trial of pocket mechanic and set the cache to 4mb..
