Is the http-Request string sent by the Browser editable ? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hello,
upon a http-Request my Nokia 6230 submits the following request string:
"GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 647 "-" "Nokia6230/2.0 (04.28) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1"
wheraes my Qtek 9000 submits this request string:
"GET / HTTP/1.0" 304 - "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320)"
Is it possible via registry to modify the string the Qtek 9000 sends out in order to mimikry a request sent by a Nokia 6230 ?
If so where can this be done ?
Why is the (very crrent) Qtek 9000 requesting a resoponse in HTTP/1.0 and not 1.1 ?
What does the 304 (as far as I know this is the RFC2616 status code for Redirection - Not Modified) mean ?
(Remark: I accessed the same page of one of my test domains and collected the strings from the log file afterwards.)

There are registry values that can be edited to produce a different Browser, and probably OS too..
Some searchinh will surely help..

Changing the BT name of imate JAM (Magician) ???

I noticed that when my JAM has BT on it is detected as XXX (were XXX is my owner name on my JAM's Owner Info).
While looking around in my registry I found this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Settings
under this I see 3 things.
(Default) (value not set)
LocalName XXX
ScanMode 0x0(0)
My question is this can I safely change the value of LocalName to my liking? i.e. XXX to YYY and therefore change my JAM's BT name???
You could just change the Device Id through the settings menu.
But is also safe to change the registry key
It's true that in the settings menu you can change your device ID. But that is just visible in ms active sync.
As BT device the i-mate JAM is recognized by the user information as described in the first post ! I don't know if it can be changed by a registry hack ! Are not into that ! ;o\

MS ActiveSync Registry Info CE5

I have tried to mess with these to turn off Auto on feature in Active Sync, as this causes it to be permanently on, but no luck. In any event, there is some pretty useful info and I am sure someone will be able to come up with some good tweaks here?
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...user5/html/wce50condeviceregistrysettings.asp
All ActiveSync device-related subkeys and values are stored under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services registry key on the Windows CE-based device.
The following table shows the values for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services registry key.
Note The default registry values vary depending on which Catalog items are included in your OS design. For more information, see Default Registry Settings.
Value : type Description
Version : REG_DWORD Default setting is 20000. Specifies the software version number.
NoSubFolderIn : REG_SZ Default setting is "\My Documents", which is LOC_NOSUBFOLDERIN in datasync.str. Specifies the only synchronizable folder where the user is allowed to create subfolders.
FileSyncPath : REG_SZ Default setting is "\My Documents", which is LOC_FILESYNCPATH in datasync.str.
Specifies the folder to be synchronized during file synchronization.
DefaultNpwNoServer : REG_DWORD This value is not present by default. Creating this value and setting it to 1 will cause the Exchange Server sync selection in the New Partnership Wizard to be unchecked. Users can still select this option, but it will not be selected by default. Setting this value is recommended as most users will want to syncronize with their desktop rather than a server.
Synchronizable Objects Registry Settings
All synchronizable objects are stored under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Windows CE Services\Synchronization\Objects subkey on the target device.
The following table shows the values for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Windows CE Services\Synchronization\Objects subkey.
Note that registry settings for Contacts, Appointment, and Tasks cannot be disabled.
Value : type Description
File\Store : REG_SZ Default setting is Cefobj.dll. Specifies the name of the File ActiveSync service provider.
Contact\Store : REG_SZ Default setting is Pegobj.dll . Specifies the name of the Contact ActiveSync service provider.
Appointment\Store : REG_SZ Default setting is Pegobj.dll. Specifies the name of the Appointment ActiveSync service provider.
Task\Store : REG_SZ Default setting is Pegobj.dll. Specifies the name of the Task ActiveSync service provider.
Inbox\Store : REG_SZ Default setting is Pegobj.dll. Specifies the name of the String ActiveSync service provider.
Connectivity Registry Settings
The registry settings related to ActiveSync connectivity are stored under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Comm registry key on the target device.
The following table lists the registry values for the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Comm registry key.
Value : type Description
AutoCnct : DWORD Default setting is 1 (on). This value turns Autoconnect on and off.
Cnct : REG_SZ Specifies the default connection used when the device is cradled. If this value is not set, the user must select a connection to use when cradling a device.
This string must be prefixed with a backquote (`) for the connection to appear in the ActiveSync user interface.
Note Only RAS entries prefixed with a backquote will appear in the ActiveSync user interface. See Phone-Book Entries for details.

Read WAP Push SMS with MAPI

Hello,
I am trying to read the content of an WAP push SMS that is in
the pocket pc inbox. I can read with success the subject property (PR_SUBJECT) with MAPI but I do not get the download link that
is embedded in this WAP push SMS.
Does anybody know which MAPI property I must use the read
this information from the SMS?
Thanks!
Houser
So I have found the MAPI property where the WAP Push link
is embedded in. If someone is interested you must
open the MAPI property with the value: 2233008159 or 2233466911.
The link is a UNICODE string.
This property is undocumented and I have got this by trying all
possible property values from 0x0 to 0xFFFFFFFF.

Opera Mobile 9.5 Custom User Agent in Xperia X1 running Opera 9.5 Build 2532

Hello all.
Can someone tell me what their Custom User Agent parameter is under User prefs in Opera Mobile?
You must have Opera Mobile 9.5 Build 2532 (included in R2A firmware).
To access this, please go to opera:config and scroll down to User prefs.
Tap User Prefs and scroll down to Custom User Agent.
Let me know if it's blank or if not what it contains?
Cheers!
Anyone out there able to help?
Thanks!
it's blank
Thank you so much!
If you try to visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer from your X1 (I don't care what country you're in) do you get the listings or a notice telling you that your mobile is not supported?
Custom user agent is blank in mine too.
I'm getting the message "Unsupported Device".
Maybe it's because it says SonyEricssonX1i/R2AA and not R1AA anymore...
That makes perfect sense.
Cheers for that!
ive already posted the user agent to get access to ilpayer, please search and read
Have you tried contacting the BBC iPlayer team to let them know that since you've upgraded the firmware on your X1 that the iPlayer no longer knows who you are?
Yes, I did it right away...
That's what I was asking these questions for because I wanted to make sure it wasn't just my device.
Let's hope they get it fixed soon
It appears that when you install the R2A rom the opera UA string gets stored (or should) in the registry rather than in Opera mini.
This is what's in "fileoperations.xml" which sets up stuff like media files towards the end of the install process..
Code:
<characteristic type="HKLM\Software\Opera\UA">
<parm name="Default" value="Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi; U) SonyEricssonX1i/R2AA Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1" datatype="string" />
</characteristic>
so have a look at that key in the registry to double check.
It's not much different to the original one.
Which is
Code:
vodafone/1.0/SEX1i/R1AA Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Widows; PPC; Opera Mobi/2141; U; UK) UP.Link/6.3.1.20.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
and that definitely works, so insert it into opera:config
Difference between the Vodafone R2AA version and the first one is
Vodafone -> vodafone
R1AA -> R2AA
2141 -> 2532
If I had working Wifi, I would try tweeking either to see what matched with the Beeb.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
if you use the original user agent (with vodafone) on R2A it works, if you change the string to 2532 it doesn't. So there's a good chance that they are looking for that.
But get rid of the Opera build number altogether (on the VF one) and it still worked
I was testing all these last week, I haven't tried the string without the operator info in it yet.
Oh and I don't think it's a typo in the VF string, it really does say "microsoft widows"
My ROM: GENERIC/SWITZERLAND/R2
My Opera Version: 9.5 Build 2532 German
opera:config->User Agent: "Spoof UserAgent ID" = 1
opera:config->User Prefs: "Custom User Agent = -blank-
opera:config->User Prefs: "UA MIDP Profile" = -blank-
opera:config->User Prefs: "UA Phone Software" = -blank-
opera:config->User Prefs: "UAProf URL" = "http://wap.sonyericsson.com/uaprof/X1iR101.xml"
opera:config->User Prefs: "UAProf URL Enabled" = "True"
opera:config->User Prefs: "URL Type" = "1"
User Agent as of UserAgent.org: "Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi; U) SonyEricssonX1i/R2AA Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1"
Haven't had any problems at all with these settings. I don't know about the BBC player, never used it.
since I flashed my unbranded phone to R2AA I have had problems with web pages not appearing as they used to, iplayer no longer works etc. I've tried to follow the proposed solutions in this thread but I'm not having much luck, any chance of an idiot's guide to fixing this?

MMS pictures Shrinking in size when downloaded??

I had same problem with HTC Touch Pro
Solution was
There was one guy who had this problem over at esato and he fixed it. This is hidden in a rather long genieric thread so i'll just copy his post here...
"Basically, it has something to do with the phone not being set up, or directing to the correct 'profile' with the network operator. For example, my settings were directing to the Taiwan HTC website for some reason. Because O2 didn't have these settings, it was defaulting the MMS settings to how they were when MMS was first introduced.
The solution is basically using a program like PHM Registry Editor to change the profile, so it directs to the correct details. However, as there aren't any specific Xperia ones yet, you can have it use those of another phone. In my case, I have used the N95 settings, as these are ones set up on O2.
So, in the reg editor you need to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - Software - Arcsoft MMS UA - Config - mm1 - WspHeader
There will be 6 strings in this part of the registry. You just need to edit the 'User-Agent' profile to:
NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
And the 'Profile' string to:
http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN95-1r100.xml
You don't need to reboot. And that should get the pics coming through at the correct size.
Hope this helps if anyone is having the same problem."
