I have searched this forum for a number of weeks but have never seen a post for orange gsm wap settings. I have a 32mb xda with xda-dev ROM so I am running WM 2003 os. I have tried and tried to get wap working using a dial up connection (it works fine on GPRS but this is costly). I have checked the settings on the orange website and throughout the net but the standard settings just do not allow me to route through orange wap. My other phones (P800, 7650) have worked of course. Also t-mobile UK GSM wap settings also work on the xda but not orange network. Does anyone have the settings (not what is put out on the net as standard). It manages to connect to the orange gsm network but will not allow access to surf. IP settings have been checked. Thanks in advance.
I signed up to Vodafone and got a 6230i wchich all work perfectly but I'm using the JAM as my main phone.
I've set everything up according to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=12497&highlight=remove+mms+server
but can't connect to Vodafone Live!
Everything else works..TXT, SMS, Internet is all OK.
Any ideas please?
Dave
hi davehutch,
I'm using my magician with vodafone Live! NL
In the past i had the same problem as you. Calling customer services of vodafone turned out that you have to connect via a proxy server for wap protocol. In my case the proxy adress is 192.168.251.150.
Good luck
Thanks for the tip...but
I don't really understand the JAM connection settings, never have.
Where is this address entered? Is it under the My ISP or the My Work Network sections?
Under Settings -> connections -> connections there will probably be a setting vodafone live! or something like that.
tick "set up my proxy setting" and then turn on "This network connects to the internet" and "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet.
when you tick advanced settings you can enter the proxy adress that the vpa should use. in my case that is:
WAP 192.168.251.150 PORT 9201
Secure WAP 192.168.251.150 PORT 9202
once you have entered the settings, go to the pocket internet explorer and go go wsp://live.vodafone.com
please keep in mind that the settings about work for vodafone NL. It is possible that Vodafone UK uses other settings.
Good luck
Thanks for the suggestion
No luck though. I have made progress though. Everything now works: txt, MMS, e-mail, Web, WAP and I even connect to Vodafone Live! but...I only get the text version.
i feel like I'm getting closer but may never actually get there.
Is the JAM WAP level compatible with the graphic version of Vodafone Live!?
thanks for your help so far
Dave
I have an i-mate Jam with a Vodafone UK sim and I've never (despite many attempts) been able to access my POP3 mailbox over GPRS. I can acces it over a USB-PC link, and with a Wi-Fi card, and I can also get to my web mail using Vodafone WAP.
When I try to connect to Vodafone Internet (apn = internet) I always get "Cannot Connect" and "Answering modem has disconnected" messages.
Can anyone help please?
went to use my O2 xda exec (with pay and go vodafone 3g aim inserted) to go on msn messenger but it wouldn't connect the previous day the same internet settings worked (pp.vodafone.co.uk for access point name and wap for both password and user). I tried using a few other connections i found by searching google but still no luck and i've tried using internet explorer to surf internet and again to connection.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?
Could this be vodafone are not allowing pay and go internet services for universals in the uk like o2 well that was what i was told by staff at my local o2 shop reasoning for my switch to vodafone as this worked.
thanks.
Goodday,
My Boss has a Tytn II.
And uses the dutch Vodafone.
Its not connecting to the internet or exchange email.
I have tried:
Windows auto wizard - No success
Manually according to website - No success
I have tried both with and without proxy
And tried both with PAP and CHAP authentication.
But it cant connect.
Is there anyone who knows what this could be?
p.s. when text messaging 1300 - internet
I get a stupid sms back with an URL.....
You could try connecting the TytnII to a pc with USB cable and thus using the pc's internet connection through Activesinc. Then the URL should work.
I have an TyTNII on the dutch Vodafone network. No problem, internet and exchange access both work. So if the activesinc method doesn't work for you maybe check these settings:
I did have to change the Access Point (Toegangspunt) from live.vodafone.com to office.vodafone.nl (username: vodafone, pw: vodafone) though. But that depends on your account type.
In my case the connection uses the proxy: 192.168.251.150
Hope this helps, good luck.
