Is the IR a button? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

OK, has anyone noticed that the IR point along the front edge where the speakers kinda sounds and feels like a button? could this be the 40C9 key? Just wondering as this would be handy for enabling and disabling receiving incoming beams!

Which PocketPC are you referring to? Not every feature is in the same location on HTC models.

The XDA Exec or Universal as it is known in this forum

No man, no way it's a button
And I would suggest stop pressing it if you don't wanna damage your exec 8)

dead on, was just wondering, would have been a nice touch!

hee hee
How many times did you *press* it???
lol!
cheers
San

it's not that daft. like the two rubber round bits on the back feel like buttons, but they aren't (are they  )

You'll like this!!!
Thought the same about the IR.
But wait for it......
Couldn't understand why the reset wasn't working until I found the REAL reset on the edge of my Exec (cunningly labeled Reset) and realised i'd been poking the stylus into the light sensor!!!!!!!

We've got the winner then!!!!!

screen flips when incoming call

Hi,
I've got the 9100 for a month now.
and everytime when the phone rings, the screen go automaticly to landscape mode, and the send button is not responding.
i can anser only frem the "answer" button on the screen which is now on the top left corner.
it doesnt happend all the time, but its very annoing.
any help?
thanks
Have you tried a hard reset ?
Hahaha... I know where this is coming from...
You are using the TERRIBLE useless case that comes in the box right? Its magnets cause the screen to flip around... your unit is A-OK.
By the way, you store your unit screen facing out or facing your body? Try changing directions if you insist on using this stupid case (I am using it also but I am looking for a better one).
Has anyone found a better case for the KJAM/QTEK 9100?
I had the problem with the case, too...
But it doesn't explain the send button not working - that's happened to me also, which is damn annoying when you're trying to answer the phone!
oh, and I'll be writing a review of the PDAir case as soon as it arrives... Fingers are crossed!
ooh
It really make sense, the magnet thing.
i don't usually put the device on specified side.
but i will try to notice it from now.
in that case, what about the car holders that uses magnet to hold the device?
Give it a try, use the cases magnets to find the spot on the KJAM that flips the screen. It seems that the sliding keyboard uses a magnet to let the device know it is open and to flip the screen.
The included case is such a useless case. I am sure that NO ONE at HTC actually tested the usability of the case WITH the KJAM inside in an everyday usage pattern...
Also, I am not sure if the magnets don't harm the device..
Many many thanks you very clever and helpful people!!!
I was on the verge of getting on to eBay and letting the top bidder have my XDA Mini, because of this switching lark, but I've tried what has been posted here and sure enough, it is the magnets.
So I'll get a better case and keep the device which I think is excellent.
Thanks again!!
yea
it helped
please give us a recommendation for a good case
thanks
Yeah.. would like to hear about a good case...
I was thinking about one of these:

Anybody uses them?

Cingular 8125...HELP... Accidental Button Pressing

Hey All,
First post on this board and I love all the valuable information I am getting so THANK YOU TO ALL !!!!
My frustration is as follows: I have a Cingular 8125 and I carry it around my belt holster; like the ones that come with the phone. Before putting the phone in its place, I place it in standby and locked the keys. However when I receive a call and I try to take it out of the holster to see whos calling, the answer button has already been pressed by the holster.
Is it just me or someone else experiencing this well ? Please Help.
How do I set it up so that I have to explicitly answer the call.
Than you very much !!!
Sorry but I must say that I dotn have this issue. I grab the phone by its top and bottom edges when taking it out, and I cant say that this has happend to me.
Later; Lew
happens to me with the default holster on the 9100.
yah, happens to me a lot when i'm pullin my k-jam out of my pocket... i guess just be more careful is the only solution

Keyboard creacking sound!!!

Hello.
I would like to ask a question to everyone who has the same experience.
In my recently bought Imate JasJar, some buttons(4-5 of them) do a very unpleasant creacking noise, while the others are virtually silent when pressed.
Should i worry that i have a defective unit(missalligned keyboard) that could lead to future button failure or just sit down and relax?
Thank you!

Interesting - i have an issue with the green/red phone keys - they seem to have the ability to double click - although no function can be assigned to it.
Matt
In my case, all the buttons work right!
But some of them do an unpleasant noise when pressed.
Is this normal?
solution
OK, I think the screws in the back are loose, take your stylus out and gently press where the stylu was from the bacl of the cover toward the keybaord and it should creak. I thing it is due to loose screws on the universal
If i am doing right,i see no creak on the pressure there!
But if this is the case, can i do something myself as to fix it?
Thanks!

Anyone got a dead HD? I need the volume button :(

I'm sceptical that I'll get a response, but here goes nothing!
I don't know how where or when, but I lost my volume control button.
Does anyone have a dead HD that can sell the volume up/down button?
Thanks for reading
can't help you but curious as to how you lost it?
Maybe a dummy phone of the HD can be found on eBay with hope that the part is a exact replica. I was holding the Diamond dummy phone and the buttons seemed like the real thing.
Do you mean the thing that part of the back cover? I think looking for the back cover itself could be cheaper .
Hi
It's not part of the back cover, it's actually the volume up/down button.
I tried the dummy phones, but they just have a moulding
I spoke to HTC and they will only repair if I send in ($$$) and the don't just sell the button.
I suspect it fell by being squeezed somehow and flicking out.
grrrr

oh no, it seems you're right after all. I checked my other backcover, and there it was. I didn't loose it at all, it's just that I never moved it to my new cover.
cheers man!!
LOL!
Why'd you get a new cover? Was it, by chance, an attempt to get rid of the creaking sounds every time you handled the phone or used the touch screen? Did it work?
nope, it was because I scratched it!

No Reset Button only a black foil

Hi,
my Nike has no reset button on the side of the usb connector. In the hole is only a black foil but no button. Anybody the same problem
OMG! you found the elusive...
No, really, thats not right, maybe theres some ducktape inside left from a bad tecnitian... :/
Nope - that's right - that's how mine looks
Don't push the stylus horizontally into the phone, push it down into it (towards the front screen, IYKWIM and don't do it hard either, only needs a gentle one. If you push it sideways, you'll miss the buttone...and think it's not there
HTH,
Smiffy.
You mean they changed how the reset button works but didnt had the decency of placing it outside yet?
Is HTC learning things from Nokia?
They already have the worst price/hardware ratio, the ppc's are beautifull but slow, the drivers are bad and now they arent even user friendly... they are slowly becoming nokia...lol.
