can somebody help me with this error ? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

with activesync 4.1 I flashed my wallaby with Qtek English 4.02.04 Rom downloaded from xda-developers, after flashin I can connect with activesync and install everything but when I try to flash with some other rom I get this error under cmd window "ERROR GetConnectionType - An existinng connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. error getting connection type" and wallaby disconnects immediately, PLease HELP, Maybe I have to use SD card method, but I havent card reader, are there some programs wich can simulate logical disc ? thank you

4.02.04 ROM prohibits flashing an<y other ROM via EXE-File / Active Sync.
You could try flashing via SD-Card and use the SD-Card Slot of your XDA as card reader.
You can select it in the XDA-Tools....
Stefan

Thank you Stefan !!

I can confirm that SD flashing will work with this ROM but USB flashing won't as Stefan rightly pointed out; this ROM does not allow you to flash that way. The same thing happened to me when I wanted to try the XDA-Developers ROM so I used the SD card method instead and all was well.

Neil.

XDARit problem reading/writing SD card

I've saved my ROM to a SD card, but the XDARit program will not read it, I get an error: Did not find correct flash signature, aborting! - and it does not matter if I read .nb1 files or .img files.
When I try to write an image (.nbf file) to the card, it finishes in about 1 second, saying it wrote 65026 blocks ??? I try to write only the Windows CE part, since my boot loader is at 5.15.
Any ideas - I tried reading/writing on different PC's with different card readers, but always get the same error/behaviour. So maybe it's me?
Hope some of you gous can help.
Best regards,
Allan
If it's bootloader 5.17, read the instructions regarding 5.17 on the site...
I have Boot loader 5.15 - ie. the good old one
As I mentioned, I'm running boot loader 5.15, so all the nice tricks applying to 5.17 are not relevant, sorry. Interesting reading, though.
Any ideas why I can't read or write the SD card?
Best regards,
Allan
Oops, sorry for not reading your post completely..
No clue. I've been using XDArit extensively over the past few days. And while it's not a miracle of UI design, it does work for me. Using NT/2000/XP ? (It doesn't work on 95/98/ME)
I'm running Windows XP on both the PC's I've been testing with.
Any other clues?
Best regards,
Allan
Hi !
I have this problem also.
Thx for any helps.
I had the same problem, the SD card was locked as read only...
Sorry, the SD card is not read-only. But even if it was, shouldn't I be able to read the image from it anyway? I can't read and I can't write - hmmm.
Best ragards,
Allan
Hi all !
I have solution this problem.
Try anoder type of card in XDArit. For example try the SM card. Because the XDArit not recognize corretly the card type.
Sorry my poor english.
Best regards,
Sebi
In first: Sorry for my english In Second...
It's happen then you use any USB Hub in any type of it. For example if you cardreader don't connect directly to USB port in back of you case, but to any another connector (USB2 on motherboard for example or in you mouse) Try connecting cardreader directly to usb in youe case (motherboard) and all should be OK!
One more thing!
You should use USB 1.1 or 1.0 CardReader, only. Not USB 2.0. This program don't work with this protocol.
How about Usb travel Flash ?
I'm using a 6in1 travel flash. I be able to read up the SD Image backup created by My MDA yesterday using XDArit Read option.
I use XDArit to create a new image and restored back again, it shows that the files are still the original one that created by the MDA not XDArit.
It seems that XDArit not be able to write to the SD Card which was written once.
Dear LeAlex, please advice.
Thanks. There are many users waiting to upgrade theirs' ROM.
I'm using WinXP Home SP1 with 5.1.2600 drivers ? any problem

Could you try to reformat it?
because I formatted my sd card with my ipaq 3850 then sdcard reader cant write it becaouse of readonly. So if you format it on xda, I think you can write it

I had the problems that you guys did...
and I ended up using the old version that you can find in some of these threads and that solved my problem...

Help please.. SD Card flashing

My PC's activesync crashed and hanged while flashing the ROM. Now the xda is stuck with Updating screen.
Can someone please tell me which file to download from Jeff's kitchen (nk.nb1 or nk.nbf or anything else) and how to write it to SD card for flashing.
I tried to write nb1 and nbf both, using xda-tools, but it is not copied in the format required by the bootloader. In fact, in either case it is copied as a file which is not identified by the bootloader (my version is 5.15). boootloader starts with GSM OK message, and does not give me option to flash the ROM.
Can someone please please tell me how to do it?
you need SD card writer or a SD backup from another XDA.

Thanks.
I was about to go to the service centre for rom image from another xda, but I decided to give it a try using usb cradle, and ran the original upgrade program. It came out with error and asked me to soft reset the device and try again, which I did, and it worked. I now have a working xda!

Probs flashing any rom via ntrw with my NEW mdacompact

Hi everyone,
am deperately needing your advice!!!
Just yesterday I rechieved an exchange mdac from tmobile showing serial version v1.02 when put in bootloader mode(previously v1.01).
When trying to flash whatever rom once transferred via ntrw to my sd card, my mdac does simply nothing but stay in bootloader showing serial v1.02. No flashing like in my old one starts.
On removing the sd card it comes out freshly formatted, before it definately was formatted with raw as usual once working with ntrw.
Result : I can not upgrade my system to mksbigstorage or any other rom like i could with my" old one". (same sd card!!!)
Tried downgrading to an older rom version via original upgrade routine and from there flashing via sd card: same problem!, tried other sd card: no solution either!
Any ideas, solutions, people with the same problems?
:?:
Appreciate your help
Thanx
romflashing
Seems to have nothing to do with flashing routine.
Card simply gets formatted once inserted.
Any way to stop this?
Hi! I have had many problems after flashing and re-flashing my rom.
Try boot loader mode and USB then execute (from your PC)MaupgradeUT_noid with a Shipped_rom on XDA ftp. It may work.
Have a look at this link: http://www.mtekk.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?p=32876

How to get a Wallaby to read the rom from the SD Card!

problem: radio stack upgrade failed (using the siemens upgrade) and now I get a GSM error and eventually a partial pocket pc desktop with no start menu or access to an explorer window.
OK, I used XDA tools to copy the rom to the SD card (1GB card), inserted in the Wallaby, held the power and soft reset the device, I get the boot loader v5.15 and then a GSM Error. From there, nothing. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Does the SD card need additional files or should it be formatted a certain way? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No additonal files are required. Thr progress you describe is the normal....
Are you using an internal SD-Card Writer? They make often problems.
YOu can try dumping your old ROM to SD and check if it will work with this backup. If this is the case the problem is your Card writer.....
Instructions to do this could be found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_FlashSD2
Fixing GSM error could be found here:

Siemens SX56 Upgrade Issue GSM Error - Upgrade failed
so I should try using a different card writer? If so, I have an external one that I can try. Should the boot loader still show the GSM Error with the rom on the SD card?

How to flash ROM from Bootloader?

Hi all,
I have some trouble. I tried to flash new ROM from romkitchen.de, but there was an error on 98%. Now the mda, starts to bootloader (wallaby bootloader v5.15). I don't know what to do now. I found this> http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_FlashSD , So I cooked rom (NK.nb1) and via osimagetool it wrote to SD (is it same like ctrl c + ctrl v ?). But when mda starts, nothing happens - onlz bootloader starts. What's wrong?
thanks for your answers and sorry for my english
you can check if you did it correct by putting the sd card in the pc
if it's containing a rom the pc cant even read the card
if the card have a rom it should flash automaticly when you enter bootloader
it's incorrect. I don't know how to dwrite rom to sd...What format of ram (.nb1 , .nbf) can be written to sd by osimage?
one choose the sdcard reader as distination
and osi should be able to work with both nb1 and nbf
well...but sd card still can be read in pc. SD i ve god sd reader in my ntb... :/
where did you get the nb1 or nbf ?
only wallaby roms will work
yes, i know it. rom is from romkitchen.de
What for Cardreader are you using? Internal devices often causes problems....
If you have another person that has a wallaby you could backup his rom on the sd-card and install it on your device....
The ROM in nb1 or nbf have to be written via osimagetool. I is written in special format and it is complete different from ctrl + c -> ctrl +v.....
Stefan
i use cardreader in my notebook asus a9n. I'll try it on another pc
