Exec + Xbox360 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Though i'd give it a go
Running the CardExport software on the Exec, an Xbox 360 will quite happily see the Exec and stream music and pictures off it
http://www.softick.com/pocket-pc/cardexport2/

Very cool, glad someone found a way around that. I've just been using my 360 to charge my jasjar.

But unfortunately we can't stream that same data whilst playing say...NFS most wanted!!!
Don't suppose anyone knows how to get MP3s onto the XBox360 hard-drive??

you cant' save mp3s into the 360 harddrive. if you can play the audio files from your JasJar, you should be able to use it as custom soundtrack with your games. i have not tried this on a JasJar yet but I've been doing it with my iPod

Found out how tro play your Exec music while in games.
1. During the game press the central X button to bring up menu on left
2. Scroll down to Select Music
3. Select Portable device from menu
4. Select your folder storing your music
5. Hit Play!
Your Exec stored musci will play instead of the games normal tunes.
Tested this with PGR 3 and Call of Duty 2
Kinda wierd storming El Alamien to "Is this the Way to Amarillo"

My Own music in NFS Most Wanted!!
Thanks for all your replies and help guys. Got my MP3's on the harddrive via burnt Audio CD's and accessed them via the 'central' 'X' on the controller. Thanks again.

does this only show the expandable memory? what about the ram on the device itself, can you browse through that?

Using the CardExport software you only get to see the SD card. No actual memory on the Exec/PDA itself.
So any music or vid's need to be on the SD card

Yesterday i found this on the net.

it's a guide how to stream divx to your xbox360. maybee there is some interesting info that we can use.

how to put a movie on 8125?

(i have a cingular 8125 with a 2gb mini sd card) ok.. so i have the movie on my computer.. i have shrunk it to bout 800mb.. and it opens with quicktime.. quicktime doesn't have the right codec to play it therefor i downloaded VLC.. a program which supports it and will play the movie.. the aspect ratio is 320X240 but from here i don't know what to do.. i'm kinda new at this but would love to learn do i need to download any applications on my phone or will windows media player support it..
What you need is . . . . .
Pocket DivXEncoder : http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=1224
and . . . .
TCPMP : http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
Pocket DivXencoder allows you to convert the files and TCPMP allows you to play the files. Both are freeware. A 90 minute movie will come out at about 200Mb.
the movie is on my mac.. not my pc.. and i don't know how to get it off of it because the quciktime movie has to be opened with VLC for it to play
Welcome MacHead
Ahh....the trials and tribulatioins of us superior beings....
Well, to make this short, you basically have 3 options to choose from.
1. Use an adapter to transfer the files directly to the card. You will need 2 adapters actually. One for mini SD ->SD and another to connect SD-> USB. This is probably the easiest and most straight forward method
2. Get MissingSync for WindowsMobile. This option is only valid if you want to also sync playlists with iTunes and PIM information with iCal and Address Book. The reliability of large transfers is sketchy but I think it works very well on newer Macs.
3. "That's what you got wifi for" If you Mac is connected to a network that has a wireless access point somewhere on it. You can "download" the movie from you Mac over wifi. I have done this a few times to get around the sketchiness of MissingSync. You can also transfer the file from your Mac to your PC and use ActiveSync.
Hope this helps. I can give you more info. After you pick a specific option.
hahaha, I love how mac people have to use WINDOWS Mobile... Where is your Mac OS Mobile? Hmmmm....?

how to transfer > 220MB file to MDA
hi,
just download the program and converted 1 movie to about 220mb. I used activeSync to transfer files to MDA. For some reason, it can't be synchronized. Can anyone let me know how to transfer it from pc to MDA.
Thanks
when dealing with big files you should go purchase a card reader makes it 10x easier...check out my site in the sig for videos, ringtones and more.
Or you can just get a program like Card Export II which lets your Wizard (8125) act like a thumb drive and you can just drag the file to your storage card.
I use Card Export II and it works great on my Macbook Pro.
Pocket DVD Studio:
It allows you to rip just about any DVD to any size. You can make Windows Media files or .AVI files (which I prefer). You make them in the range of 125m to 225megs and you can fit a dozen movies on a 2g chip.
For the .AVI, you'll have to get a CODEC file for your PC, but that's free (XviD 1.0), and you'll have to download a different player than WM, but BetaPlayer, that they also provided free, is a FAR nicer player than WM. You don't have playlists and transfers and all that nonsense. You simply open the file you want and play it. Also BetaPlayer will go to Landscape mode just by tapping the screen. I just found out they now call it: TCPMP (and I see they have it for SmartPhones--wonder if it will run on my Samsung D-820?)
It's at PQDVD.com.

I don't know...you need a different util to create .3gp files. They make one, but there's another called Super @ that is shareware. It's tricky to use but does work. You have to play with settings.
thanks.. i was wanting to put it on my card.. and then just play it from my phone.. but the mac won't play the avi file because it doesn't have the right codec.. so i have VLC on my mac and it will play on the mac.. and i don't know where to go from there.. if i put it on the card i didn't think windows media player would play it.. i don't know the step by step procedure.. i'm new at this so just call me blonde..

TCPMP will play .3gp just fine. I think that the WMP version on the Wizard may also play .3gp since you can save your cam movies in that format. .3gp is a mobile version of h.264 or actually I think its actual name is h.263. Anyway if you get QuicktimePro (look for a serial code online). You can encode/transcode just about anything into that format. Oddly enough it even works on files that Quicktime claims it can not play.

we macusers rock, and u just need visualhub, it does the job in about 15 minutes, in any code in any size, and of course, use tcmp for watching it on your ppc.
go versiontracker and grab visualhub
drag and drop the file ( whatever ist is) into it, choose the output size and codec and click run, u can send it dircetly to your storage card by choosing the output folder.

Media Files Via Wifi

Hello all. I have been a huge fan of this site for years. I have worked on many HTC products useing Cabs from this site and the information has been great. I can't thank every one on this site enough for all the great work you guys/girls have done.
I have T-Mobiles Wing / HTC Harald. I have two programs to view the network folder (My Home PCs Folders.) The HTC network folder pluggin works the best. How ever I am unable to watch movies from my PC with out transfering them to the wing. I have tried the Streaming video plugin but it fails to work with this. I have also tried to force Core media player to view them but all I get is sound. Am I totally missing why this will not work? If any one can fill in the blanks for me or point me in the right direction I would be most gratefull.
there are several programs for streaming media...
i guess vlc can do it.
and there are several other programs. just goole a little.
when i find the program i tell you.
found:
http://www.orb.com/orb/
i've been doing the same too, i can stream music n etc directly but not videos, but then again its full 700mb movies..
i've also tried to get Orb to work couple of times but i just dont get it :S
I think I might have stumbled onto my own answer. I was playing with the settings in "Core Media" player. (I purchased the Official one not that there is a differance I just wanted to make sure.) Any how if I turn down the Speed to 50% it plays perfect. Not sure about the sound (Baby was sleeping while I was fooling with the Wing.) Will keep playing with it till I have it tweaked for WIFI playing.
Note: Music play back over wifi at 50% sucks hard core..... Stick with 100% for MP3s over Wifi.

Network Media Player?

Hello guys, new to the forum, and new to Windows Mobile, so please be gentle!
I have a networked hard-disk in the house with about 20GB of media on it, and I was hoping that there would be a way for me to map the drive within Windows Mobile, when connected over WiFi.
Doesn't seem to have worked. I managed to browse the drive using Total Commander (which is one stop further than I ever got on my N95), but when I try and launch an mp3, I get an error in WMP. I suppose I could use TotalCommander to sideload the files onto the X1, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having the central-drive then.
Anyone got any ideas? Are there any media players which can play networked files over WiFi? Are there any clever network settings or tweaks which I am missing?
As a random aside, has anyone managed to do anything clever between the X1 and the Playstation 3? E.g. media streaming, or even better, using the X1 as a blu-ray \ media remote for the PS3?
I had hoped seeing as how they were both Sony that there would be some clever convergance. Or am I being rediculously optimistic?
Try core player..
It's the best. I play movies from my NAS navigating with Total Commander..
Not quite the same, but I've been using Orb to stream to my X1, that uses your internet connection if you want, and gives you access anywhere, not just at home.

Thanks for the tip.
Just to be sure... you navigate using TotalCommander, and open the file in Core Player and it plays across the network? This would be exactly what I was looking for.
Shame there is no demo of Core Player to try it out. :-(
get Conduit Pocket Player, and stream the media files via UPNP.
- Core Player really works. I use it too.
- Pocket Player is ok too, but it doesn't support XviD, DivX etc.
I am using Total Commander but cannot find how to map/access netwroked drives. How to do it?
I have 6 500 GB hard networked drives (yes total of 6 TB) of media files which I can access on networked laptops and stand alone media players. It will be very good if I can access them from my Xperia as well.
I was wondering how you see the files with total commander as well?
Via the LAN plugin.
For me on my home network I just entered the machine name and up popped the shared folders.
Video files didn't stream fast enough though for me, but a nice way to move files from phone to PC without cables.
Still cannot find it. I am connected to the my home network and can access the internet and get e-mails on the X1. But cannot see the shared drives on my desktop!
I looked for the LAN plugin but could not find it.
FOUND it, but I can see only some and not all shared drives. That is a start!

Load Total Commander. Get to the root of the phone \
Here in the directory view you should have at the top \\Plugins
Open this "folder" and inside you should have LAN, open this "folder" and you should be able to do a _Quick open here just enter the machine name, you'll be prompted for a username and password (leave blank if not required) and the shared directories should be visible.
I follow that through and can see the music on the network drive. But when I click on a song to play it, Windows Media Player returns with an error:
"Incorrect Parameter"
I assume Total Commander is passing the path of the file as a command line parameter into WMP, but this is incapable of seeing the network drive, therefore can't resolve the path.

Does either Core or Pocket Player work with a DLNA server such as TVersity? I seem to recall DLNA support being mentioned for the X1 around the time it was announced last year.
I too would be interested to see if Sony comes up with a way to interface the X1 with the PS3, possibly using Remote Play a'la the PSP.

Pocket Player has DLNA support the last I know (UPnP).
Coreplayer is supposed to have the support but I think the developers had push out the timeline to have this support. Or maybe they have already includd in their latest version and I'm not aware of.

I managed to launch a song into WMP successfully yesterday, when I took a look at the properties the file location was
\\megadrive\my documents\my music\album\track.mp3
Does it have a limit on the size of the shared drives?
I can see drives of 60 GB and play video and music but not the 500 GB drives!
Any ideas?
Wouldn't have thought so. It's reading my 250gb

Still struggling with Music Tab

I'm interested to know how others are getting on with the music tab in HTC sense. It took me a long time to get round to buying a 16GB card, but now I have I'm struggling to get the Music tab to function.
With a small collection of music it works just fine. However as I increase the collection at some point it breaks, so that it will only play a few seconds of a track before stopping, usually accompanied by a spinning circle in the top left of the screen, when that stops spinning the music stops. Something to do with indexing I'm assuming.
My music is organised in a fairly standard \Storage Card\Music\<Artist>\<Album>\ style format so there are no individually huge folders My favoured bitrate has been 192 so the files shouldn't be too big. I've tried syncing with Windows Media Player and with Mediamonkey. I've had mediamonkey convert all files as it syncs to WMA format or to MP3 at constant bitrate. All with the same results.
Who has the music tab functioning well with several GB's worth of music on their card? What settings did you use?
Of course I can just have WMP as a quick link on my first line whic happily plays everything and retains bluetooth AVRCP fuctionality. However the Music Tab interface is far nicer when it works.
<no longer true>My music tab isn't funtioning AT ALL, let alone well. It lists all my music (only 4 albums for experimenting, all tagged) alphabetically, and only draws the top half of the embedded albumart.
Doesn't even attempt to play, just sits there. Click next track, same - just draws half teh album art then sits there. Phone isn't hung or anything, just doesn't play.
Shame really, but i've not had it a week yet, so I'm gonna ignore it for now, and i'll look into it deeper once I have stopped playing with all the other bits.</no longer true>

Hi,
Well I have to admit that my media player seems to be working well *touch wood*. I've got a few gb's of music on the 16gb card.
As soon as I got the card I formatted it on the HD2 before I put anything on it. Then I just synced my whole music collection from my laptop to the phone via ActiveSync, navigated to WMP on the HD2 and updated the library and all seems to play well (after the a little white circle spinning while it indexes the library).
Try backing up the card. Formatting it on the phone then doing it my way and see how if it helps.
**UPDATE**
OK i take back what i said in my previous post. I guess it was still reading the tags or something, because after having left it to sit for a while, it now works fine, including the albumart etc.
I didn't use sync, i rarely do for music players, so perhaps it takes longer for the player to find and scan everything using drag n drop rather than sync.

Yes,
I think using ActiveSync organises the files into a more easily accessible format/location, which is why I suggested it. Good to know that everything is working ok for you now though
OK, so I backed up everything on the card. Formatted the card using the phones built in application. Copied everything back except the music files.
Used Mediamonkey and set up an auto-conversion rule to convert everything it syncs to MP3 format at 192 bitrate whether it needs converting or not.
Updated the library in Media player on the HD2.
reset the HD2 and let the music tab re-index everything.
Everything is now working perfectly. Thanks for the opinions. Whether it was the phone format or just that I hadn't actually used those exact rules for syncing I can't say as mediamonkey was origionally setup to only convert files if it had to. I had issues with Windows Media Player missing out files.

Everything still perfect? I am almost able to sync without incident, but the "audio manager" crashes at the end of every sync (and, when prompted by the phone, I keep reporting the crash to Microsoft even though I don't expect them to get back to me anytime soon).
It also seems like I have to do a soft reset after each sync to shake out all of the bugs (missing album art, unplayable song files, etc.)
FWIW, I'm only syncing about 30 songs now until I have this sorted out, so having GBs worth of files isn't the problem (I was NEVER able to get 8GB of music to work in Manila's music tab on my Raphael).
id say that sounds more like an active sync issue.its never been the most stable program. why not simply connect in hard drive mode (or put memory card in card reader) and just drag and drop the music to it , then let the phone find it all itself.that'd be my preferred method.

I can jump in and answer that one - press the Window key (third one along on the bottom) (or press the button at the top left) and go to tools and there at the bottom is a button to format the SD card.
One thing I would like to see is the ability for the player to decode .ogg files - I love gapless playback, and really miss it with mp3's. I am trying to rip some stuff now, but it is a pain having to rip multiple tracks to one mp3 file just to avoid the hop skip and jump when playing back.
All the best.

When I was having issues with my music tab I followed the format SD card and organised into Artist/Album/tracks but what really worked for me was converting my entire library into LAME mp3. 1500+ songs are now working perfectly. I recommend using dBpoweramp to convert if you're willing to give it a shot.

I thought all the music needed to be in a root folder on the storage card, no sub-folders within to work well?
I had same problem. HTC music player stopped after about 4 secs of playing with every song. Put it all into a root folder and worked fine since.

I don't know why that would be, but if it works then it works!
I have a "MUSIC" folder on my SD card, and in that I have artist sub-folders and then within them I have album sub-folders. It all works fine for me. This is literally the same folder that I've had for the past 3 WM phones, and I just copied it there manually, without using any type of synch.

Could be because of the length of the path/filename when sub folders are used?
EG
theartistfoldernamedartist/thenameofthealbum/theartistfoldernamedartist-thenameofthealbum-thetracknumber.mp3
Perhaps the scanner struggles to cope with long path/filenames?
Ive got this problem and i was wondering if it had anything to do with the quality of the storage card?
Edit:
REASON FOUND
"One bad apple spoils the barrel"
One badly encoded mp3 will make the entire player stop. I found this while playing mp3s on music tab whilst transfering new mp3s through drag and drop (active sync) as soon as one particular mp3 was transferred the player stop and music would stop after 2-5secs. After deleting this file and reaccessing music tab library it was back to normal.
Suggestions: leave music player on whilst drag and dropping so you can figure out which are the problem files.
Alternatively: Re-encode your mp3s, either all or the problem files only.
I have been having an intermitment problem with the music tab in that it works fine for most of the time but then suddenly when I open it I get the spinning circle at the top left and the whole thing has frozen. The only way to get it working is a soft reset.
It doesn't seem to be badly formatted mp3 as after the reset the file that was in the player will work again.
I transfer music from windows media player using the sync function.
It has never stopped working whilst playing only when I open the tab and I think a few times it has been when a track has been paused for some time.
Any ideas are welcome. . .
My music tab doesn't work properly every time after the device was connected via USB in external drive mode. The last played title keeps being displayed, the album it is in is shown in the library as well (as currently played items or however this the first list in the library is called in english) but nothing else is listed. And the little white circle keeps spinning and spinning... I let it spin for hours once but nothing happened. The SD card was formatted by the phone in the first place and I never get freezes once the player works properly.
After a soft reset everything works fine instantly but shouldn't there be a way to get it up and running without resetting everytime I use USB external drive mode???
ROM 1.66 GER, problem was present on clean ROM (before tweaks and tools), too.

im leary about buying this pocket player, because i downloaded for my htc hd2 and it wont play any music files or vid files, i went to to associations in settings and there not checked, and it will not allow me to check them.
is the pocketplayer compatible with the HD2?
change settings / associations
bought it 1 month ago, very happy with it, only listen to audio books not tried video (tcpmp meets my needs) in order to select an item settings/associations tap on the item you want to select, it will hilight then bring up keyboard and press enter, hope this helps. ps works perfectly on my hd2
thanks alot for your reply!! ive been wanting to try to find agood player.
i finally got the settings down now thanks to you!!
next question.. ive went to menu, options library and added my storage card\ music. then tried to play ANY files on my storage card but it wont play or add any of them? and they are all mp3??? they all added fine on windows media player on htc, and they all add fine tcpmp, and coreplayer, but they won't add in pocket player? but it has added all the os ringtones? and custom ringtones ive added to the ringtones folder on the device(not storage card) also it did find my videos. all avi's and it won't play any of them?
any other tips would be appreciated. i dont wanna buy a product that i cannot even get the trial to work!
Thanks for your time and patience!
To make "checking" work, you MUST enable virtual keyboard. Use up/down and enter keys.
BT keyboard also does the trick.
This is a common issue of WM 6.5. I have same problem with pocket player too.
still doesnt work .. this is sad for me caus eim a comp tech and consider myself VERY tech savy. so sorry guys
ive watched while its scanning folders, and it never goes to storage card? just scans... is c program files flip disc? wont goto storage card, and in pocket player settings library folder it shows i have \storage card\music and \storage card\video to monitor for files. and i DO NOT have c program files\flip disc selected.
adding files from memory card
as i said i only use it for audio books and dont use the library but i can tell you how i use it which might meet your needs (i assume "the library" allows you to select contents of a playlist via mp3 tags), i add a book via the "open folder" option this will recurse all sub
directories from the chosen folder and add them to current playlist. i then save the current
playlist via the browse->playlist option, as i said unless your music is well organized this might not suit.
i have just tried creating playlists via album and arist this worked fine all my files are on sd card. just checking are we talking about same player "conduits pocketplayer v4.1", have you tried emailing them, i found their tech support to be v efficient & helpful.
good luck, and happy to help
EDIT - my two pennies worth
works well with cheap ipod handsfree from ebay as play pause work
when device locked (important feature for me), it is currently my
audiobook player of choice beating out rockbox on old ipod, one less
gadget and playback speed adjust with constant pitch.
