Bluetooth trouble - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hello,
I have been able to send easily via bluetooth, however i am having problems sending.
I have made partnerships, set myself as discoverable, turned bluetooth on (of course), used pass keys and friends phones says 'connection failed'
Any ideas? (O2 Exec)

Sama problem here
bye
nicoska

I have also had similar problems and found that not all phones, even if blue tooth enabled, are send receive enabled eg my my wifes samsung phone can send to me, but my jasjar has difficulty sending to her....
The friends phone would need to have switched on the "accept incoming beams" also setting, which isnt necessarily part of the partnership setting, but in the bluetooth settings itself as this enables OBEX as compared to say activesync, or headset features to allow file trfr's.
There is sometimes and OBEX setting somewhere that switches the file trfr setting on or off. I assume that you have done the obvious "accept all incoming beams" on your phone... not that you are accepting but sending.

Hi
Go to Settings, connections, then select Beams, check the box for Allow all incoming beams...

i did it but having the same problem. I'm using a JasJar.
bye
nicoska

I am too using Jasjar and i am able to do so...pls check yr settings again

I'm using Dopod 900 and having the same problem too...

I'm using SPV M5000 French and having the same problem too...

i have an m5000. With the Resco-Explorer i can send files via Bluetooth ti my ipaq h 4150, but i can't send files from the ipaq to the htc universal....

I had the same problem, not being able to send files to others. I was using Resco File Explorer, then I tried the built in File Explorer and it worked like a dream.

Man i checked again my settings and all is correct, but have the same problem, as many others users here :-(

I can't receive anything from anyone via Bluetooth, I think it might be something to do with OBEX (whatever that might be  ) does anyone know how to fix this?

Can the default File Explorer send file using bluetooth? How?

RE
OK,
Finally, I manged to send/receive file to and from my QTEK 9000 and my notebook using bluetooth and default File Explorer

Did you change any settings?

RE
On my PPC side I turned on "Receive all incoming beams". My PPC only shows Incoming Port (COM0)
What I did for my notebook is to add Incoming (COM5) and Outgoing (COM7) COM Ports
For sending file from my notebook to my PPC I just select "Send a File" and then select the file to be sent
For sending a file from my PPC to my notebook I select "Receive a File" from my notebook and then selct the file to send from my PPC and send over using bluetooth

i couldnt get my pro to recieve a file via bt...had to download it via the web

RE
Tested sending/receiving file with my QTEK 9000 and SE 700i handphone
No problem at all

Mine just won't receive anything from anyone :x

RE
trapper
Have you checked to make sure that your PPC and the sender's device must be visible to one another ie. they must be make discoverable?

RESCO Explorer "Send To Bluetooth Recipient" Anyon

Has anyone got the Resco Explorer to Send Files using "Send To"- "Bluetooth Recipient". Mine just Stucks in the OBEX screen Serching.
I know the same thing happends if you dont Untick the "USE IRDA VIA OBEX" in the general options of the explorer. You get stuck in the same screen, Searching.
Start Bluetooth first and then use the above option w/o doing any changes...it detects and transfers the file superbly and with gr8 speed...
I know I can send files via bluetooth using "send to Infrared recipient" that's not a problem. I just wonder why the "bluetooth recipient " thingy doesn't work? The explorer is for WM5 so that should work I suppose. there must be something in the registry I believe to change it.
I DID TALK ABOUT "SEND VIA BT"
SH*T mine is searching, but aint finding a thing

XDA exec and Mac

Hey people,
I have a XDA exec and I am just wonering if anyone knows any (preferably free) programs that allows me to connect my XDA with my Mac mini. I cant seem to use the bluetooth to send thing over (all the time it just says decive is not compatible with this file or somthing.
Anyone help? Thanks.
No activeSync as of yet, sorry.
There is software available but it isnt free.
Ignore the file incompatible message and click on send anyway. It's pure nonsense. The universal will download it anyway.
i think you might as well get a SD Crad reader to transfer file.
i use USB SD card reader tranfer file from my powerbook to my dopod 900 if i have 2 or more file to send it
Yes I already hd an SD card in there, but not a card reader.
When I try to send somthing to it via bluetooth, it just says "device does not have nessesery services" and fails to send? Also, when I look under paired devices, I look under say my nokia 6680, and it says:
Device Services: SDP Server, Hands-Free Audio Gateway, Headset Audio Gateway, OBEX File Transfer, SyncMLClient, Nokia OBEX PC Suite Services, OBEX Object Push, Dial-Up Networking, Imaging
When I look under my XDA exec, it only says:
Device Services: Service Discovery, Voice Gateway, Voice Gateway, Dial-up Networking
in yr mac under yr System Preferences bluetooth.
have u tried to delete yr xda exec pairing
and pair it again??
after yr pairing with yr exec try to send it again.
hope its work.if it cant work pls let me knw i will check it out with my friend.
Keep an eye on this site too - they say they are working on WM5 support at the moment.
I used it for my ipaq and it worked really well - will probably get the new version when they have syncing sorted for WM5 too
http://www.pocketmac.net
Cheers,
Smiffy.
I have tried pairing it and unpairing it several times but to no avail.
I also saw that, and when it becomes available for WM 05, I will probably buy it.
my dopod wm5 work together with my powerbook well.
Mac os X and jasjar
Hi chaslam,
To get it working you need to change a registry setting...See below:
To change the ability to receive files via Bluetooth (OBEX)
The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Obex'
The 'IsEnabled' DWORD value should be set to '1' to enable OBEX and '0' to disable OBEX.
For example, to enable the ability to receive fles via Bluetooth
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Obex\IsEnabled = 1
You can then send via bluetooth...(you get a message saying not supported, but it will send, files appear in my documents folder)
Regards
hippo
Sorry but I dont understand that at all lol. Where do I type that in?
bluetooth sending
no problem, I've been there and still am sometimes! you need to edit a registry setting. To do that you can use some software installed to your jasjar. Do you have a method to get files copied to jasjar at the moment? if so let me know and I'll send you the application and tell you the steps to go through.
ps. what version of Mac OS X are you using?
Sorry I havent got back to you sooner, ive been very busy the last couple of days.
Yes I can do it via a PC I have, but my Mac is the main computer that I use so I would like to transfer things via that.
I would be very greatful if you could send me the program. If you dont want to post it on the forum you could send it to my email if thats ok. Its [email protected] (dont worry about spambots as its my Spam email address what I post on forums).
I am using the latest version of 10.4.3.
Thanks
ok, got the program installed but I am not sure how to acually change it. I get to the opening page and it says:
hkey classes root
hkey current user
hkey local machine
hkey user
When I click on on of these it does nothing. Just lets me change what it says. I cant find the obex thing and all of that.
Sorry if I have being stupid, but could somone help me on what to do from here?
Ok been looking around the forum and found a much simpler and safer way to do this.
Just go to settings > Connections > Beam > Accept all incoming Files
Much simpler and safer, and it works!
Thanks everyone for your help.
bluetooth
That's Great - I should have checked the easy option first!
Hmmm I tried this lastnight and I have "receiving all incoming beams" enabled and I couldnt BT any files over.
Are you sure you didnt use IR?
Try re pairing your exec and see if it works. Worked fine with me.
Oh and IR is the little infared box on the phone. Completely different from bluetooth.
Got it working - Shoulda tried re-pairing really!
Cheers Chaslam
On the subject of syncing data from your Universal to a Mac.. there are two utilities that are due to be updated to support WM5 soon and they are
PocketMac
&
Missing Sync
These are the only apps that will sync directly to a mac as far as I know... unless anyone knows better??? please let us know

Where are all the bluetooth functions (esp. File Transfer)?

The only bluetooth functions I get on my MDA Pro are Headset and Serial Port. I'm desperate for File Transfer... does anyone know how to get it? Thanks!
They are there, just not visible..
Try sending a file to your Universal through BT, and it shall recieve it..
Make sure that the beam settings are "Accept all inncoming"
if you use the inbuilt file explorer on any file, you can press and hold, then select beam file. if bluetooth is on, it will:
1. search the infra red port
2. Search all surrounding devices with bluetooth on, and discoverable.
then you can just select where you want it to go.
Transfer files using bluetooth
Does anyone know how I could transfer a file from my Qtek 9000 to my Nokia N70 (Symbian OS) using BLUETOOTH. When I pair the two I get "Dialup networking” only I cannot find a way of transferring files from one device to the other. Please include step by step instructions if you know how.
Thanks

1. Enable Bluetooth on both devices;
2. Open File Explorer, go to the desired file, hold the stylus down (like right click on a PC) and choose "Beam File" (this works with Bluetooth as well as Infrared)
3. Choose Nokia N70 or its assigned device name when you see it on the list
File sent as a message not as a files transfer
Yes thanks i tried doing what you suggested, but it sent the file from the Qtek 9000 to the N70 -> recieved it as a message and i could not save the actual file anywhere on t he N70?
Well, what does the message look like? What type of file are you trying to transfer? I would expect you be able to save an attachment or something similar. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the Symbian OS.

Either I'm doing something stupid here, but.. if I send a file from my desktop to my MDA Pro (BT enabled, accept incoming beams enabled) I just get a message saying 'ftp service not found on target device'
If I explore available services I can see DUN and Voice Gateway... am I missing something?

Im very familiar with symbian OS but new with PPCs so should be able to help!
Install a file explorer such as fexplorer onto your n70. Fexplorer on the root page has a mail option, and when you enter it, you can see all the files recieved via btooth/mms. Copy the file and paste it to your desired location using fexplorer. Alternatively, if the file explorer you use doesn't have the "mail" option on the home of the sw, visit x:/system/mail (x= c or e depending on where messages are stored) and browse throygh the folders until you find the attachment and paste it to where you want.
Thanks
Thanks very much, i did what you said, but the mail opton was not there, instead i found the Inbox directory and there was what i was looking for, so thanks again...

something like this? http://www.silentservices.de/btCrawler.html
Browse and BT transfer data from deviceA to deviceB
I check BtCrawler it does not let you transfer files between device, what i am looking for is something like a file explorer where (once two devices are connected via BT) then one can copy files (using a fileexplorer type of interface from one location in device A to another location in Device B. Veyr easy stuff really but cannot do it anymore in Qtek 9000 WM5, whereas in my Blueangel WM2003 i used to have that exact functionlity, and i used to do it by transfering files from my Cellular camera to my PDA.

OK, got you this time. WM5 only supports Obex-Push (trabsfering V-Cards and stuff). It currently does not support Obex-FTP which is exactly what you are looking for. Maybe some future updates from M$ will add this functionality, so I hope...
cheers
Thanks, but if you find any software that provided the " Obex-FTP" on the WM5 PDA could you please send me a message.

I'd like to know if this is possible.

Bluetooth profile.

Hi
I was rather disappointed to see the poor BT support on my newly acquired iMate JasJam.
It supports almost no BT profile
In particular OBEX (file transfer).
I found some references to some BT extension to the Microsoft BT stack, but they don't seem to work.
Any ideas if there are ways to extend the functionality of BT with this device and add some common profiles like OBEX, FTP etc?
Thanks
JY
Just wanted to start a similar thread. I was quite disappointed finding out that I can't receive e.g. a CAB file via BT! Though it sends all OK

Could it be because you need to turn on 'receive all incoming beams' under start>settings>connections>beams
try it. i heard that its coz of this.
Of course, this option is turned on!
Hi all,
Don't know if I'm missing something but i can send .CAB, .WAV, .MP3 etc files both from and to my SPV M3100/Laptop (or desktop).
Beam is on.

Actually, it should work - the MS BT stack has a pretty good OBEX implementation, as has also been pointed out in several of my, related articles; for example, http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1065&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
Probably it depends on firmware version... btCrawler self diag shows for me only OBEXObjectPushService, and only if that option is turned on. No OBEXFileTransferService at all.
Other services shown are not related to file transfer (audio, modem, serial ports).
Do you (who's able to receive any file) have OBEXFileTransferService on your device?

Sending files via bluetooth

Hi i wonder if anyone can help,
Now i seem to have had this problem with every HTC phones i have used (XDA orbit, steller, mini) and now my HTC HD2. why cant anyone send me files, pictures, music anything via bluetooth. We get all paired up and eeverything but when they send it to me it just comes up connection failed?
Now i know my bluetooth works on all me phones as i sync at work and have handsfree in the car, so i can only assume its settings but i have look at all of it and cant figure where im going wrong?
thanks in advanced
shane
Hmmm . . .
Do you click "Accept" for the file transfere ? (Bottom left of screen (soft-key))
(After accepting the conneciton, the file transfer itself needs to be accepted as well)
Besides that - to transfer files from my computer, I had to enable the file transfer protocol:
Settings->menu->all settings->bluetooth->"Gears" tab<left most tab ***>->Advanced<+> ->File transfer->allow incoming file transfer

It never gets that far, i dont get the option to accept, on my mates phone it just says connection failed. i dont get anything on my screen, but we are paired up so its not like they cant find me phone etc. it just says connection failed, when they try to send it to me. i have also left all visibilty etc on, and even keep my phone ruuning (i.e. not standby) and still no luck.

I have tried this option with the paired phones, but again no luck, however i have no problem sharing pictures etc from my PC. sending files etc via bluetooth and my computer at work, works fine. its just people sending files etc from other mobiles???
this is what is confusing me, but i have had the problem on all xda's i have had, so there must be another setting.
cheers
No one has any ideas then?? its bugging me now
Can't help you mate.
All I can say is that on all my HTC phones (Diamond, HD & now HD2), it's worked fine - never had a problem.
I also had this very same problem. I have a Kaiser (vodafone v1615) and i was able to send files via bluetooth, but not to receive them. Then i found this thread and now the thing is working:
http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=227899
Basically the solution is:
TIP: Make sure you enable “Receive all incoming beams” if you want to receive files / PIM records over Bluetooth on Pocket PC’s with the Microsoft Bluetooth stack!
Click to collapse
This can be done in "start menu"->"settings"->"connections" tab->"Beam"
Just that simple check.
Let me know if this works for you.
I have this exact same problem! Unfortunately the quote above only applies to Wm6.1 and below that use the microsoft bluetooth stack.
On this occasion HTC have plumped for their own buggy version.
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585081
I think there is some conflict between obex push and obex file transfer. I have a toshiba bluetooth stack on my winxp install and the bluex utils on my linux partition. Neither of them work anymore on wm6.5 whereas they did on my wm6.1 polaris.
i dont have a connections tab on the HTC HD2, well i have a connections page but i dont have beam as a option??

You wont have "beam". "Beam is part of the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack. The HD2 has the widcomm stack.

Ok but im guessing then that no body can help or even have the same problem??
well, I may be a few months late, but here's my solution, at least it might help new HD2 users:
go to settings tab, choose "all settings" from the right menu button
choose bluetooth, and then click on the settings tab (the one with cog wheels) make your device dicoverable, then from advanced>connectivity>remove the check mark if you don't have your friends' de3vices paired with yours.
finallyadvanced>file transfer>check: allow incoming file transfer connections.
to make this a bit faster you can browse your windows library via file explorer and create a shortcut for the bluetooth program in the start menu (this will also enable you to add a shortcut in the manila today
hope this helps
