Hi!
Is there anyone, who succeded getting the smartphone to work to together with linux. I`ve tried http://sourceforge.net/projects/synce/, but I run into a kernel panic, because the device is unsupported.
Is there another way to get at least access to the sd card?
Thx in advance!
mitschel
Synce does not work with windows mobile 5 at the moment. You can subscribe to the mailing list and help reverse engineer the new sync protocol in windows mobile 5.
Does anyone know if i can connect my jasjar(M5000) to a XP PC and install the drivers nessesery (i guess they are on the companion CD) to be recognised, then install 3.8 and sync throw the USB cable and then try to set up a WiFi sync?
Is this possible to do or has anyone tryed it?, im sure in principle it can be done but thats not the way the real world is
Plus does anyone know of Win98 drivers for the JasJar, i can get it recognised as a mass storage device and copy stuff ok but i want to use activesync on a win98 PC with Active sync 3.8 on it
Hope anyone can help
Thanks in advance
WM5 will only sync with ActriveSyng 4.0 or better...
Hi all. I've installed Activesync 4.2.0 and managed to connect my P3600 to it succesfully. The strange thing is, that there's no "backup/restore" option visible in Activesync to backup my PDA. This was working fine with my previous XDAIIi. Anyone know why this would be? Is is a P3600 specific problem?
Thanks for any info!
Lee.
I think they (Micro$haft) removed it in later versions of ActiveSync
Not available for anything later than PPC 2003
Just found in the help that although the backup feature is still there, it will only backup PPC2003 or earlier devices. Windows Mobile 2005 does not allow backups. How bizarre! Anyone know of a decent backup-to-PC utility out there?
Lee.
I use SPB Backup and there is also Sprite backup. These are probably the 2 best backup programs out there.
.... and does anyone know of any free backup utils out there

i've downloaded the ActiveSync 4.3.. i think.. but it's in .CAB format... wine can't recognize it and install.. :'(
I tried with ActiveSync 4.5 which is a .msi file (MS installer),wine supports it with "wine msiexec /i filename.msi". It installed well but when I try to use it wine reports "Unsupported socket family".
I didn't waste too much time on it...if someone had better luck please share

Hi, the above links to a project I have been working on (SynCE-KPM). I just want to clarify a bit about it:
* SynCE-KPM is builds upon some components of the SynCE project, you will need that to be installed before you can actually use SynCE-KPM (see www.synce.org for instructions. )
* SynCE-KPM does NOT do the actual syncing. Syncing of the PIM data on the phone can be done to any PIM application supported by the OpenSync project (Currently basically Evolution and Kontact, though there is a google plugin also IIRC).
If you want to install the SynCE on your computer, make sure that you follow the guides that are provided on www.synce.org because a lot of the guides found on the net are either a bit outdated and contain errors or are oriented to the WM2003 devices, which require a completely different way of connecting.

I'm currently sinking using this method
Any suggestions on a good program to manage
PIM
contacts
calendar
email?
I'd say stick to Evolution for PIM data, and use the opensync frame work to sync. All info and a good how to can be found at synce.org. Just follow the setup for ubuntu.
I've been syncing flawlessly for the past year.
