My wizard's speakerphone is very soft when u wanna use the speakerphone in the car as a hands free call or host a conference call with a few ppl.. any way to increase the volume of the speakerphone?
what i mean is during a call u can press to let it go on speakerphone and its so soft that u can hardly hear the other party...
any tweaks that we can do guys?
and also, the normal phone call listening volume although its at max, it still sounds very soft especially u're driving in a car or tryint to talk in a noisy street. is it like that for all wazards? my previous nokia phones are alot louder and perhaps i'm too used to the loudness.. or am i getting deaf?!
any help would be good...

My Magician has the same problem. As a matter of fact the speakerphone was working properly until a few days ago. Someone suggested doing a hardreset... but I would like to left that as final solution.
Did you got any solution?
Thank you in advance,
mahjong

Hey guyz i was just wondering u know you put it on loud speaker, the person on the other line always hears an echo of his voice and they can immediatly recognize they're on loud speaker + it's kinda annoying hearing ur own voice. Is there anyway through this? I tried lowering the volume.. no use :/

I think it is either the distance of the phone from your mouth or the phone application itself! I think you do get this even on the normal desk phones, so does the N9210!
my bet is feedback from mic to speaker
all devices which have a mic and a speaker can get feedback
but most likely it would be something they could fix in the software
cybermate it's not Me who i hear the echo of.. the person talking to me always hears His echo and it's annoying to the people i talk to and sometimes id rather talk by speaker because im like typing or something ..
Yup, every time I use speaker phone I am told to get my head out of the bucket.
because speaker phone inc the vol the mic can recieve the sounds comming from the speaker
thats why they can hear themselfs
every time i have my head in a bucket while speaker with people on my xda2 people tell me to disable speakerphone
yeah same here !! shouldn't they have THOUGHT of that at least !! it is important to some people !
I have the same problem any fixes for it.
Yes, me too on my QTEK 9100. Unfortunatley most of my day is spent in long conference calls and the speakerphone is a must! Anyone with any fixes please let me know.
When ever I use it people complain that they can a) hear themselves and b) can hear alot of hissing sounds
Hey,
I am under the impression the i-Mate JAM/XDA Mini etc have speakerphone ability (to listen to a call on loudspeaker). However I cant find how to do this.
It certainly should be possible, as when I play music its very loud. Ok, the quality may not be great on loudspeaker, but good enough for a phone call.
Regards,
Jez.
If it's the same as all the other devices, hold down the green answer button during a call and hey presto- speakerphone!
HTH
Fin
Yeah,
just hold the green button for a while ,but I must say it's pretty useless.....
:?
I can hardly hear the other party in speaker phone mode. Moreover, I think that it is a design flaw to put the speaker on the back of the device.
I am looking for a application that can activate speakerphone. without using the green-button.
Is there any such?
Did you ever find a solution to this, (to set the speakerphone through a API) ?
funny
so funny, ive been using my phone (XDA II) for almost a month now, but try to use the speaker phone just today. after i read this thread. heheheh
tnx guys... this means alot to me.. lol^^
on a I-mate jam it's possible to turn on speaker while calling so you can speak "handsfree".
This can be done by holding down the green call button.
When I do this the sounds of the speaker is de same as normal only the sounds comes from the back of the phone instead of the front.
Does anybody know how to fix this? A friend of mine has the same phone without a problem.

Have you tried while you are on the speakerphone mode to make the volume slider higher?
That ain't gonna help you. This is a known - and unsolved problem with the Jam. If you really need a speakerphone, you should return the phone. No amount of firmware/ROM update will help you.
I use the speakerphone option without any problems. The sound is loud and clear. What is this unresolved JAM problem that you're talking about?
Jam speakerphone volume problem
My XDA1 had the best speakerphone I've ever used, including corded phones. I could be in a conferance room with 10 people around the table and everyone could hear, speak and the participate on the phone never had problems with background noise. I have a hard time accepting that next generation technology from the same manufacturer should be woefully inadequate. The unit is advertised as a speakerphone, the solution is to return my phone and purchase another? No thanks friend, anyone reading this with solutions please respond.
I only have the phone for 1 month now so I´ll return it
tnx for the help
I think most of us don't know how to hold the mini in the right way, while the phone is in speaker mode...
if u want to hear a load voice.. make sure that back of the phone faces ur ear..
that' because the mini has 2 speakers... and the one in the back( near the mirror) is loader.. so you will hear the conversation very well...
and BTY.. I suggest u upgrade to the latest ROM available for ur device..
it helped me a lot....
cheers

Wrong - its patently obvious that the sound is coming from from the back speaker. Why on earth it comes frm the back is another question entirely, given that the speaker phone is supposed to free up your hands so you do other things, including multi-task on the device i.e looking at the screen! Every other phone I've had has a decent speakerphone - and they face the front too.
But the main problem is that the volume from the supposed "speakerphone" is too damn low, irregardless of location.
Considering all the huge volumes of prior experience that HTC has (making practically every Microsoft PPC device, smartphones, plus the Palm Treo phone), things like this awful speakerphone on the magician are really not excusable at all.
I went through 3 TREO 600s due to speaker problems. You could barely hear the speaker phone on the 600 either. ANd to top that off, no one could hear you! The JAM is nice, but the more that I use it, the more I wish that either I bought something else or that the the JAM could just work the way it was designed!!!!!!
1.3 Mega pixel camera... my ass! It's the same quality as my first Casio digital camera from '96. Not mention the fact that Imate can't even put a decent ROM update together.
Perhaps we should build our own PPC's!
P.S. PM me if you want the CEO and VP of Imate's e-mail address. I e-mailed them and they actually wrote back! -Of course they weren't very helpful though.
One time, I turned on this speakermode operation on my MDA-Compact, I could hear my phonecall loud and clear from the built-in speaker.... This happenend accidently, probably by pressing just the right button, but I wasn't aware....
I cannot find how to do this again? How can I get the MDA-Compact to operate in speakermode using the built-in speaker?
I'm searching this (and other forums) quite a while now, but I cannot find my solution?!
Any help will be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Igor.

Yes there is a way: but the mini back in the box, return it and get a different phone, preferably a Nokia.
Seriously though, its a known fault that the speakerphone on this thing is crap, medocre at best. It does not match up to the speakerphone quality of even an average run-of-the-mill Nokia phone.
If you really rely on speakerphone for your type of usage, this phone wont cut it. Its that simple.

I don't have any problems with the quality of the speakerphone of my QTek s100. But i never used a Nokia with speakerphone so i'm not that spoiled
Seriously, i can use the speakerphone while i'm driving the car and people still hear me very well and i can hear them very well too. I must say that i'm not driving an old diesel engine so it's pretty quiet in the car while driving, maybe that's my luck
@atiley: What version Radio ROM are you using ? Have you tried upgrading the Radio ROM to the latest version (i believe it's 1.13.00)? I've read somewhere here on the forum that it solves some issues. Some say the sound quality is improved.
I have a problem where I can't get the handsfree to turn on anymore.
If i press the green talk button (and no matter how long i hold it down) it doesn't pop back up until I actually let go. And then no handsfree.
I've tried two diferent 1.11 ROM's and am now on 1.12. I also tried radio 1.13, but no luck.
When I first got my phone the handfree worked, but then one day, it was gone. Could there be a persistent registry setting or something like that?
Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks
I am using Radio ROM 1.12.00, what does it do when you change radio roms i have no idea is it like a firmware update ? what are the benefits?
i admit the speaker phone is crap on this phone, if you open the phone and look at the actual speaker phone, its really poor quality. but i barely use speaker phone and when i do, its in an invironment when i can here the other person well enough. if your trying to use speakerphone in a club or something... go see a psychiatrist.
Hmmm.. well i'm guessing it's a bit far-fetched.. but is there anything here does helps with the speakers of the X1.. at times, i cant even hear the ring..
I'm new in WinMo and after reading at these threads, i'm juz trying my luck to see whether there's anything that can be done..
Thanks a lot guyz...
Generally, I have no problems with the speaker at all. Only when it's covered, the sound diminishes really fast. Is your speaker by any chance covered? For instance when in your pocket. All you can do is increase your volume with the side buttons, and set it to vibrate + ring.
It's not really covered but it is on my pocket.. and the thing is i work in quite a noisy environment.. so it is a bit hard to hear it sometimes..
yea the sound goes really low when it is covered and only one speaker is there so the sound is very low try using the ring + vibrate mode it may help u little bit and also u can set the option of illumination while ringing.
if i put it in my pocket, i dunno if it is coverd but i can't hear the ring
also, the vibration is so "consistant" that i couldn't feel it.......

Had the same issue with a previous phone
I solved it by wearing a Sony Ericsson BT watch
My watch vibrates (and the tickle is sooo obvious, can´t be mistaken) and tells me who's calling
Maybe a BT watch can help if you work in a noisy environment
