I have a dead Orange c500 (interrupted rom flash). Since I now live in the Philipines, sending my phone to HTC Europe is a bit of a hassle. There are many SAP 1, (aka Tanager), parts for sale here locally, but nothing for Typhoon. Is the M-Systems diskonchip flash chip the same model in both Tanagers, and Typhoons? See link for photo of C500 (i think) chip. TIA.

Uh-oh I just sold off my Mini O2 to get hold of the 828 so I can get the 128mb RAM. Unfortunately have not found one with English OS. Any ideas if available? I tried 2C and Gome and they only have the Chinese OS ver. Is the Mini O2 coming out with 128mb ram with factory warranty?
I wonder if the case will fit.

I don't think you can use your 818/XDAII mini case as 828 buttoms are larger and 828 is a little bit larger than 818.

Just got 2 machines 828, aarived with CHS rom version 1.12 both Radio and OS. I flashed them with the OS 1.12 replacing the header (416 bytes) and wih Rom version 1.13 (also changed the header). Used both for the last day and half with no problem.
My HKG friends with wanted to upgrade their existing O2Mini , (loaded with 1.11CHS and the other with Dopod 818 loaded with 1.11CHS ). The Dopod 818 took the dumped rom with no need to change the header.. and for the O2Mini I had to change the header. Both machines are working great with the original version of the 828 (1.1206).
So rom version between the Dopod 818 and the 828 are swapable.
Both rom images will uploaded to the FTP

I had G4 Orange (Netherlands) SPV M3000 that I bricked flashing with G3 ROM (downloaded G4 file, flashed another). Orange repaired it no problem (if you look at service manual for HTC, they just change motherboard if it doesn't work). Now I tried to flash it with Molski and RIsidro G4 roms, but everything remained the same (same language, same menu, same installed programs), except there were available programs to install from My Documents/Installs. On the end I looked closer to the IPL/SPL and there it was - “2.18”. G3 chipset (or I suppose). I was stoned. Luckily it didn’t brick from flashing cooked ROMS. Can anybody confirm that I have G3 mobile now. Should I first downgrade… my mobile if I only want to flash new ROM? One more question. Can G3 be bricked from flashing inappropriate ROM?
Did anybody have problem with warranty with bricked phones. Seems that when servicing workshops receive the broken unit, they must follow the service manual. The one available on the web. Probably HTC doesn’t want to share information concerning onboard servicing, so worldwide authorized workshops are not able to look at flash at all. They probably know the reason, but what should they do.

I would say that based on what I can see you now have a G3. You wouldn't hurt the phone by flashing with a ROM meant for a G4 device they are usally the same as the G3 ones without the IPL/SPL. So read the wiki and Dr. P's sticky on unlocking G3 phones and you will be good to go.

...but I am wondering if the SPL and GSM version which I found for Tornado (HTC_Tornado_Radio_02.61.01) can fit into Typhoon ? As for the hardware, these are quite similar devices, arent they?

The relation radio rom - ril (radio interface layer) depends on what OS you are using. There are some issues with the wm5, wm6 and wm6.1 roms.
The SIM card also changes the quality depending of the radio rom - ril.
One suggestion is to ask the operator to change the SIM card, specially if you have a 64k sim.

I had before the wm2003se working on my cell phone, but after upgrading to wm6 I experienced many problems. I downgrade to wm2003se and everything was ok again... I upgrade again to wm6 and the problems were back. So I asked my operator to change the sim card and everything was solved. Before asking the operator I flashed different roms, changed many registry entries but nothing worked. So I hope it can help...

You have an Elf (GSM Touch), not a Vogue (CDMA Touch).
The Elf does NOT have built-in GPS.
If you want to customize your phone, you should try reading the Elf forum here on XDA as it will be specific to your model of device.

i recently bought HTC touch S1 phone from Hong Kong, software on the phone is literary a ****, so i am trying to find out some replacement for it. I found Onyx that is to my likings, i am newbie and stuck. I am not sure is it a HTC or HTC clone so any information would be good if someone knows. Ive heard its possible to flash it with original HTC rom etc.. Would be very kind if someone can explain procedure how to properly do it.

basically
first cid unlock by flashing some USPL or HSPL (this time u have to use the white screen method). i recommend ipl and hspl 3.10.
then flash a new radio if u want (3.34 recommended)
and flash any rom of your choice.
btw, cid unlocking is a different thing from sim unlocking
BE CAREFULL...this may be a ''clone''
First, try to know from the seller if it is a REAL HTC. If it's not, you're gonna brick it. Can you get to the bootloader? What's the SPL?
Easy thing to do, check the USB plug, is it a ''HTC'' mini-USB or a regular mini-USB?
Don't do nothing BEFORE you know if it's a clone or not....

Good clones have the same labels as real HTC...

If i'm not wrong, the original HTC Touch has WM 6.0, if you haven't flashed it before, i think you have a clone
